This board needs to talk more about science, tech. modern militaries and the future.

There's no reason to be like Varg and just think about spears, D&D and wheat fields all day.

Judging by Odin's character and myths he would be well versed in modern science, engineering, and probably psychaedelics too.

One thing we can talk about is how to reconcile the old pagan lifestyle with modern technology. If in general, paganism is being one with nature and bringing things back to the system instead of always eating, taking and consuming, then the modern pagan would make full use of renewable energy sources and basically live off grid, however, it's not necessary to do it like how Varg does it on a farm, I think if we had an urban building powered by solar panels, full of pagans who grew their own food in their apartments with hydroponics systems, then it will be almost just as pagan in principle as living off grid on a farm.

>psychedelics

I don't go anywhere near drugs but mushrooms seem harmless enough, I wouldn't think it's degenerate or anything since they aren't for specifically for pleasure nor are they addictive, but they help enlighten people by opening their minds to the wisdom that they already carried all along and that those who tried them had a more clearer outlook on life than before. I also read that they lessen anxiety and depression.

Cause and Effect is superior than the hope of freewill. War should be conducted from that premise where one action determines how you should proceed. Our ancestors made the best decisions for survival of their descendants in their times, we should to.

The problem is all those things you mentioned are on their way out. Modernity is temporary. Your children will need to know how to grow crops, hunt, etc not how to deceive hr departments to get a job or how to maximize profits.

As someone who has eaten shrooms many times, they don't. They make you feel enlightened, but the reality is you're just as dumb as before.

>I also read that they lessen anxiety and depression.

From my experience, they only make it worse. But maybe that's just me.

Why would you wanna live in the city? Modern cities are degenerate hellhole and so were cities of old. Why would you live there, especially if you were off grid and self sufficient? There's literally no reason to live in the city if you don't wanna live close to work and with homesteading, you don't really need money since growing food is your job

Actually I agree anon, I do not understand the general anarcho-primitivist attitude of heathens. I look to the past and to the future for inspiration. I think its important to note that the Vanir and the Aesir seem to represent the two polar aspects of humanity; the Vanir represent wild, unrestrained animalistic savagery, the Aesir represent more civilized and ordered aspects of humanity. It is interesting to note that the Aesir forbid the Vanir from practicing incest as the practice offended them, while the Aesir learned the arts of magic and witchcraft from the Vanir. The two seem to represent masculine and feminine energy within humanity, but it is important to note that as the Aesir won the war between them, that the masculine side of humanity should always be considered dominant. When out of balance the feminine energy of humanity leads to baseness and barbarism. We think of the Norsemen as primitives but in many ways they were advanced compared to surrounding cultures, in terms of shipbuilding and navigation, even the Christians. The Lapplanders called the Norse "the iron-men" because of their chainmail shirt, and the Norsemen sometimes captured Lapps and forced them to perform magic for them, as they believed the Norse were less proficient in magic than the Lapps given that the Norse were more civilized, the Lapps more savage.

I highly agree that Odin would have been considered God of Technology by the Norse, given that he is god of Magic, Wizards, Knowledge, the Occult and Wisdom. As Jung said, the Wizard archetype is not just larping as a wizard, but any person that is a professional at their craft and has wisdom to pass down. Magic in ancient times was often just how they understood technology, for example, Astrology is essentially just a primitive form of astronomy. What is has become today is an abomination , mockery and insult to what is started out as; the sacred duty of humanity to chart the stars. I believe it is humanity's destiny to conquer the heavens and join our ancestors and Gods among the stars. Then magic and technology will come full circle, we will be Iron Men once more.

Why not think about how to make cities not degenerate hellholes instead of escaping into the countryside?

1. Cities are where all the services are, it takes years to be entirely self-sufficient and you'll always need at least a hospital.

2. Cities are the centres of civilization, as long as our enemies have large metropolises, we must also have them if we don't want to get invaded by those more "civilized" than us. I'd love it if we all lived in little self-sufficient villages like Hobbits but that's too utopian right now.

Mushrooms were probably used by the ancient Indo-europeans in sacred mead/soma rituals.

“Those who follow the rituals…who offer sacrifices and take Soma free themselves from evil and attain the vast heaven of the gods…when they have enjoyed these fully…they return to this land of death.” -Bhagavad Gita 9.20-21

You must keep in mind that whatever ethnogen you take, its like a helicopter ride surveying the top of a mountain. It shows you where to go and what its like, but eventually you have to come down. Flying around in a helicopter doesnt train you to climb said mountain or tell you very much about the best trail to use, these are things you have to work on in a sober state.

so what part of living innacity would make "us" more powerfull than "them"? is there anything a city slicker can do which someone living on the countryside can't?

Please give me one good reason to live in a city, name a few "services" that can't exist on the countryside and why they are absolutely necessary to have.

Now for your second point, please elaborate on why metropolises are so important to have and how they would stop people from invading our lands? because most immigration in the western world or anywhere else for that matter mostly affects the cities with the countryside remaining free of any foreign influence.

And why wouldn't it be possible for people living on the countryside to form militias to defend themselves and their fellow tribes from any invading forces? in the US (where it is legal to start a militia) practically all civil militias are from the countryside. another good example would be the wars charlemagne fought, he managed to take down the civilized centralised kingdom of the langobards within a year (in one battle IIRC) whereas conquering the lands of the tribal pagan saxons took him 20 years and only because he SPILLED THE BLOOD OF 3000 SAXON MEN at verdun.

Now for the original point you were trying to make with self sufficiency in cities, that won't work, solar cells are simply not efficient enough for that yet, you can't just cover the roof of an appartment complex in them and expect to be able to bring power to the entire building, the yield per square meter is not high enough for that. I'm not sure about hydroponics but i can't imagine a setup fitting in the average appartment to be enough to feed a whole family throughout the year.Overall i really don't see the point you're making, even in ancient greek and roman times cities were degenerate places full of prostitution, thievery and (((merchants))), why the fuck would you want to live innacity? cities are claustrophobic overpopulated shitholes where only the rich can hope to live some kind of comfortable life.

Why not both? If your children and grandchildren are going to survive societal collapse, would you rather they live like peasants or have the knowledge necessary to run what remains of civilization? When the farm work's in a stable place, do you intend to let Europeans stagnate or rebuild?

>>16527

Varg highlights some of that in >>16586

What do you imagine a (modern) conflict will be like between

1. A society that is heavily decentralized, de-urbanized, a small population of rural citizens with little emphasis on education and sciences

2. A heavily urban and industrial society with a massive, near-useless but extremely expendable underclass along with a small but rich upper class of professionals, politicians and capital owners?

In the US Civil War, it didn't matter how many battles the Confederates won, or how many irish/nigger conscripts they shot, there was an endless supply of expendable rifle fodder while plenty were in the Union cities making new weapons and supplies faster than the South could manage. How do you imagine a future civilization without cities, and presumably current or lower technology, compete in terms of military, industrial production, or technological advancement?

Unless you imagine the future is closer to early medieval technology and demographics, you won't see militias conquer entire civilizations without there being a large weapons producing capacity. An exception can be made if you think there will be so much infighting across western countries that the government will collapse, the military turns to infighting and rural militia's mop up and restore order.
