Prayer and sacrifice isn't for the same.funxtion as it is in desert religions. Since asatru is nature worship, it does not intend to change nature for the people but rather it is for the people to admire nature through asatru. The gods are just folklore for tying a folk to the land so they can add meaning to their world.
