I've noticed that the warrior peoples of northern europe tend to have a love of combat and violence that is unnusual among other cultures. the constant raids over the centuries dont necessarily adhere to a strict code of honour, honour being (among many other things) a method of internalising and emotionally digesting violence.their own idea of a supernatural ideal valhalla consists in theme mostly of combat.
is it the case that their spiritual beliefs allow for the detrimental psychological effects of war to be lessened? are there any other cultures, pagan or not, that do a similar thing? would the warrior cultures of shinto-buddhist japan be similar? or is it just insecure "if you dont want to fight then you are a bitch" that everyone stuck to?

Most pre-industrial peoples are violent. I remember reading a grand archaeological survey somewhere that showed an average of 1/3rd of all male skeletons ever dug up on the planet showed signs of being killed by another human.
