A wizard is never late. Nor is he early; he arrives precisely when he means to.

/arda/, don't you sometimes wish you could just go on an adventure?

Years ago, I saw a thread on 4/tg/ where some guy was going to take his donkey, a shortsword, some primitive supplies, food, and a pipe, and just head out to the mountains. Ever since, I've wanted to do something like that.

Is it even possible anymore? Where would you do it? How would you do it? What would you bring with you?

Me and my buddy agreed to someday trek through the black forest in germany. I'd probably dress up as a highwayman or something I don't know.

I dont know anything about the black forest, but i always kind of thought of it as where the old fairytales come from, considering the Grimm tales and everything.

I would love to see it, but Germany has too many muslims. If you go, i wouldnt recommend wearing an outfit, just go and enjoy the experience.

I like to think it would be just like a creepy dark forest!

have you been to Germany? Around the Black Forest area? I read somewhere a bunch of white families were isolating themselves in the woods in Europe. It'd be nice to find some there.

running into an idyllic aryan community like the dwarves stumbling in on Thranduil's fairy-festival

I went riding through backcountry Iceland with my family and our friends from Iceland one time, that was pretty much an adventure. Their mom's family owns a bunch of horses and we took them out camping up in the north for a couple days one summer, it was pretty fucking rad. A lot of the area was basically rocks covered in ~6 inches of moss with shrubs everywhere, kinda like OP's 4th pic but instead of the green being grass it's mostly moss, and a lot less even ground. Damn shame they pretty much deforested the whole island back in the day.

I also go up into the mountains on the reservation when we visit, I'm Indian it's all dense pine forest with some deciduous trees mixed in, great hunting and fishing, but it's not really 'adventuring' since my dad knows the place really well.

If you're a burger there's tons of official "wilderness areas" you can go into, practically no ever does so it's sorta like a mini adventure

I'd rather not stumble on a magic ring and spend years taking it to a mount to be destroyed and then having to spend the rest of my life in a far away magic place to keep the magic cancer the ring gave me at bay.

yes, very.

I look back into nostalgia when I was in boyscouts and we would camp in the cool woods and hike up the tall mountain ranges and see the world.

sometimes, I feel like just grabbing my things and depart into Europe to have an adventure in the stranger lands of my ancestors, but I do not have the money and I need to re-train my body to be fit and agile as I used to.

that and brushing up on my french since I feel really compelled to hike there.

but for now I can only contain this want of adventure by listening to the audiobooks of Lord of the Rings while working.

I recently went up north to my grandfather's village. Entire place was burned in the October forest fires. Even with all that there's always a sense of belonging I get when I go there.

Of course I do.

But I have a career, a wife, bills to pay and no companions or purpose.

I can't even get myself to go camping for a weekend. ;_;

If you have a wife maybe you should have kids and go on adventures with them eventually.
