LOTR Crossover thread. Post all of the crossover ideas that you'd like to see here faggots.
Crossover with White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade:
>>Vampires who have achieved Golconda use MAGICK to escape to Middle Earth in order to avoid Gehenna. Takes place some time in the middle of the Third Age.
Crossover with Fallout:
>>Pre-war techno magical portal by VAULTEC found by the Lone Wanderer, Sole Survivor or Courier. Ends up in arda and starts contrasting the living world with the sad post-apocalyptic shithole that is Fallout. Portal was supposed to be used by the US government to evacuate the planet before the bombs fell, but could not be tested on time. Lone Wanderer, Sole Survivor or Courier arrives shortly after the events of The Hobbit.
Highlander Crossover.
>>Some immortal ends in Arda.
So what about /arda/? What kind of crossovers would you like to see?

I'm not fairly interested in crossovers, but I'd love to see specific writers have a crack at writing Tolkien stories.
Like Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett if he was still with us ;_;
As for crossovers specifically, I guess if you pushed me, Monster Hunter game set sometime in Middle Earth. Instead of hunting the usual monsters you hunt Middle-Earth inspired stuff like winged dragons, land dragons, balrogs, crazy ass beasts from the days of Utumno, etc.
And then you make armors out of them.

I once thought of a crossover with sailor moon involving Maglor and one of the blue wizards and the gates of morning in the present day but later realized I was being retarded.

I'd watch it but only if we got to see magical girl Galadriel.

Nothing like that, I was trying to be as canon as possible so anyone dead or west by the end of the books was only going to be referenced at best.
This is something that made me reconsider writing it, as I was being hardball win the Lotr canon and looser with the SM one so I could just recap from the manga but still have the sexy monster women of the anime. I couldn't give both sides justice and it ended with Hotaru being tossed into the void by Usagi after she tried to free Morgoth and blow up the world so he could remake it.
Then Morgoth corrupted the senshi sans Usagi because Hotaru had their henshin wands and used them to end her future kingdom just out of spite.
I re-read the thing and it came off as too "petty fanboy" so I scrapped the idea.

With a LOTR/GOT crossover, you could simply have them in the same unverse, with LOTR taking place in the past, and LOTR stuff is coming back somehow.
It's not the most original idea but I think it could be okay. The only problem is Sauron would be dead.

Let's just throw ideas on the wall and see what sticks.
LOTR/Hellboy crossover - Hellboy runs in to folklore creatures all the time so this could work.
LOTR/Harry Potter - This is probably the more commonly thought of crossovers, in any case fuck Harry Potter
LOTR/Any pirate franchise - Black beard the dwarven pirate, need i say any more?
LOTR/Rick and morty - This sounds lame to me

I seem to remember that Tolkien, at first, thought the notion of people coming in and adding their creativity and perspective to his setting was a novel idea. He knew very well how true myths and legends evolved, and was tickled at the direction his own work may take.
Then he began to see what other people were actually writing with his stuff, and was highly dissatisfied. He was alive for the early animated flicks, but I'm not sure if he ever saw them.

Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were good friends. I believe Lewis has a huge impact on his religious views. It's my understanding that Tolkien disliked Narnia because of the direct allegories like Aslan = Jesus. Where did you see that he disliked Lewis's books altogether though?

Problem was that most of the background material wasn't released in his life time, so of course nobody would have been able to write anything but thematically inconsistent crap. Unless they did something like the daily life of rich lazy hobbit #563.

This.
Tolkien's works inspired amazing art (actual art, not deviantart shit), but ultimately it came too late. It came right before the cultural subversions of post WW2 like the 60s hippie movement.
