Tolkien's elves served as an ideal to strive for. They were presented as beautiful, guardians of heritage and history, trustworthy and idealistic. This thread examines the post-modernist war against fantasy.
Post-modernism: A late 20th-century movement characterized by broad skepticism, subjectivism, or relativism; a general suspicion of reason; and an acute sensitivity to the role of ideology in asserting and maintaining political and economic power.
Deconstruction: A philosophical movement and theory of literary criticism that questions traditional assumptions about certainty, identity, and truth; asserts that words can only refer to other words; and attempts to demonstrate how statements about any text subvert their own meanings.

Eredin (W*tcher 3): main antagonist of the videogame The W*tcher 3, and a Bigger Bad in the book series. After murdering his king, Eredin seized the throne. With his elite calvalry known as the Wild Hunt (WH) - he travelled between the worlds and kidnapped people to serve as slaves. In the first game the WH is supernatural, the third game subverts expectations by showing them as bloodthirsty, sadistic elves bent on world domination (sounds familiar?).
When his world faced extinction he decided to conquer the world of Geralt (cuckhold). In order to launch a full invasion, he needed Ciri who had magical blood that would him unstoppable. Like many modern fantasy series they are essentially erotica padded with high fantasy.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play. A mission in the game involves a choice of either killing elf rebels fighting for survival, betraying them or killing them. This is the reaction of most W*tcher fans:
>i gave them my weapons they said leave or die i killed them with my bare hands
>lol i punch all of them to death
>I literally beat them all down with my fists lol.
>I was gonna let them go until she threatened me. "or die" huh? Ok, lets see who dies.

You can blame the following for the degeneration of elves:
A. Elric novels (the Melniboneans were more or less the progenitors of elves as decadent meanies).
B. Anti-White/Western atmosphere.
C. Association with primitives or some other non-White/non-Western society as noble savages/PoCs (see Elfquest).
The elves as envisioned by Tolken and really earlier men like Goethe were the spirit of Anglo/Germanic Europe. They weren't savages (indeed, old tales of pre-Tolkien sources spoke of obvious signs of civilization).

Interesting. The Elric novels began in 70s when the Jewish Boasian school gained prominence. Moorcock also wrote a book with graphic sex. Unsurprisingly, Moorcock was a Godless anarchist.

Where can I read about Goethe's elves?

W1 was bearable because the writers were pretty fair to the elves. Didn't bother with W2 because of the pornographic sex scenes and torture although Iorweth cutscenes were nice. The only thing good about W3 is the music and elf women models.

Another qt3.14 elfu wasted smh.
Didn't buy the Elder Scrolls games because the Bosmer (Wood Elves) are cannibals. The reason given for why they eat humans and other self-aware creatures is that they don't want anything to go to waste or something. Bioware is also pozzed.

Dragon Age is is one of the worst offenders. Elves are basically medieval Jews.

For one, there's the ballad that inspired Goethe's work. Note that both of them follow the story of "Elf as monster that might represent the Heathen."

>Olav rides out at dawn and comes upon elves dancing in the woods. One of the elf maids invites him to dance with her, but he refuses and tells her that he is to be married the next day. She puts a fatal sickness on him. When he comes home he is dying. He expresses his last wishes.
It sounds very similar to the lyrics of the Swedish ballad "Herr Mannelig" where instead of an elf you have a female troll trying to seduce a man. I agree with the idea of them representing heathens.
The Faerie Queene is a Renaissance work and had, for the first time, elves as the main characters and heroes battling against orcs.

It's unfortunate that so many LOTR games were made by EA who are notorious for pump and dump development. You can't find any of their releases on Steam.
