A wizard is never late. Nor is he early; he arrives precisely when he means to.

The guy fucked up so bad that just before everything gets remade better the universe will have the serial bitchstealer Túrin with his big black sword cuck Fëanor one last time on the right to get revenge on Melkor.

Feanor should have took a couple extra months to make some better fur coats for everyone and crossed the Helcaraxe together with the house of Fingolfin.

Or he could have told Olwë to fuck off from the city Noldor built, if they were unwilling to lend boats the Teleri had made, and use the wharfs to build better boats. He was Fëanor, he should have been able to build watercraft that sails without wind on anomalous thrust powered by jewels and sheet.

Considering his mother named him what pretty much amounts to hothead, arguing with this appears futile.

This alone weights more than all of Feanor's sins.

Good deeds without good intentions doesn't give merit. At best Fëanor considered the second arrivals rivals, though maybe he would have changed his mind if given a chance to get quickly replenishing minions to sic at his enemies.

Related, for all their sins the sons of Fëanor were the only Eldar who bothered uplifting humans that didn't already resemble elves in appearance. Too bad the cosmic providence didn't deem non-whites fit for salvation and got all of the elendili easterlings killed (did they take their women and children to Nírnaeth Arnoediad? Talk about dedication.)

The guy sure could fuck. All these children make me imagine the elves banging in Valinor all the time, and the fact that Tolkien never even alludes to sex just makes me want to think about it even more like a forbidden fruit.

Most elven couples seem to get their kicks from staring each other under starlight or sitting next to each other in fancy throne rooms or at the feet of gods. It doesn't help that giving birth seems to be dangerous (sometimes even lethal, but mostly just draining) to elven women and I doubt they would ever even consider contraception. Because Feanor was described as obsessed with his work, this makes me believe Nerdanel was a rare sex fiend among the Eldar (she was a redhead after all).

It's pretty much confirmed Nerdanel was as hotheaded as him, just more calm about it (the old adage that women are suppose to be the emphatic ones and temper men and what not).

Also her vitality was through the roof. It's stated giving birth to seven kids was unheard of and will likely never happen again as far as elves are concerned.

To be fair, there were a lot of easterlings that sided with the Noldor truthfully, but they had betrayers within their midst that doomed the lot of them.

The point was that they all seemed to have died in one battle, men, women and children all. Though maybe the remnants were forcibly integrated to Morgoth serving tribes, joined other good human groups, dispersed to the east or accompanied the Fëanorians to the bitter end which the Elves didn't care to chronicle. The stories were never about the easterlings, but I would have liked more nods to other human groups than the Edain not being full-on devil worshippers.

Easterlings did more to help the Elves then you did Feanor, you couldn't help but get yourself killed trying to fight off several balrogs.

I'm northern European. Don't get me wrong, I'm not berating Tolkien for not featuring an ethnically diverse set of good guy human factions. The narrative in LoTR doesn't even preclude the possibility of non-evil human realms outside the northwest Middle-earth. The East and the South only look monolithic and united under Sauron because the point of view can only see them as such.

In any case, I'm more bothered (if only slightly) by the subtle implication that humans can't reach basic decency without at least indirect divine intervention. The good humans are pretty much restricted to the ones lucky enough to have existed in the Eldar cultural sphere for extended periods of time. I guess humans working on undoing their fall by themselves doesn't click with Christian world view, even if Tolkien didn't think non-Christians were beyond human decency.

There's many points in both LotR and the Silmarillion where Tolkien hypes up the non Edain humans.

For example they mention that at Pellenor fields the only ones under Sauron that didn't flee like a bunch of cowards were humans. There was also Sam's (in the movie's Faramir's) quote about the dead easterling.

Generally it was all about if you followed the Eru way or not. Or in other words, if you were a Christian or some fucking heathen.
