People on the internet in general weren't nearly as political back in the day, and most people didn't have much investment in politics, and their opinions were soft and uninformed since there wasn't very much awareness of just how fucked we were (people still aren't fully aware of that, of course, since they still think humanity and life on this planet in general isn't cancer and a huge shit stain in this universe). People in general are a lot more political today, online and offline, and unfortunately the internet is infested with normalfags so it's no longer usable for escapism for the most part. Even imageboards can't escape from that since 4chan is too well known and a lot of their newfags inevitably end up here and everywhere else. The internet from the 90s and early 2000s will never come back unless there is a nuclear war and everything resets. Otherwise it's gone forever, and eventually the internet as a whole will be unusable for honest communication and sharing of information. It will be indistinguishable from real life when it comes to freedom, and freedom in the real world will be dead as well and we will live in a Stalinist dystopia. The web is already on the brink of death, just look around you. I'm preparing myself to abandon it entirely in a few years.
Hell, I'm only posting this because this thread made me realize that I haven't posted anything anywhere in maybe a month, even though it's my only source of human interaction, and this thread reminded me of when fun was still a thing that existed.
