And I would be completely okay with Kiritsugu being the way he is if it wasn't because they make up the most stupid scenes just to beg for sympathy and understanding of the audience. When he kills his father was one of the stupidest ones: a kid that barely has any understanding of the world, of the meaning of ideals and morals, cold-heartedly kill his father because some stranger he met a couple of minutes ago told him to. And it wasn't even his dad's fault, it was his retarded assistant who couldn't wait for the experiment's results. It's like everyone suddenly turns into a retard just for the sake of making the perfect circumstances to make Kerry cry and, maybe, awake some feelings in the viewer. It's just so pathetic how many of these scenes throw common sense out of the window just to show how TRAGIC and PAINFUL is Kiritsugu's life. I know Urobuchi has a boner for breaking down idealistic characters but Kiritsugu in particular was so poorly done, I couldn't take him seriously.

The whole flashback part was beyond awful, and you could see what was going to happen from a mile away. All it was was an excuse to have the MC be as edgy and soulless as he possibly could in order to make the ending more dramatic.

Caster & his master(Gilles de Rais & Ryuunosuke): both of them don't even care about the grail, they simply spend their time killing kids and talking about how they enjoy killing kids, they're too delusional to even see the possible consequences of their actions like being the first ones killed in the grail war, which actually happens, but why are these characters in the anime anyways? oh yeah because they need SHOCKING scenes in it to attract viewers who only care about SHOCK VALUE.
