Basically a group of 3 friends that want to make anime. 1 is focused on conceptual/enviromental art, other in character design and the last one is just in for the fun/money.
I would say that besides the simple argument what caught my eye is the animation in itself. It focus on world building and integrates the discussion of the group of friends regarding animation as "sketch/watercolor animations"

Tumblr users' art is drawn to avoid features and mannerisms that trigger them, and the result is a deliberately ugly mess that either looks androgynous or exaggerates features so that they don't resemble humans in any real manner.
I wouldn't call this close to Tumblr but it invites comparisons when you start sucking the beauty out of characters.
The manga is even uglier and is drawn in a way that avoids showing detail. That seems to be deliberate because there's some detail in the mechanical drawings. The anime has definitely improved the background art.
The first ep shows some potential. I liked how they seemed to exaggerate some of the environments like the shutters and the rainstorm or the comfy laundromat. It would be neat if the real world around them was over the top and whimsical in comparison to whatever simply drawn anime they eventually make.
Second ep didn't really live up to that though and felt pretty dull. The watercolor animations didn't liven it up either; maybe change the music or draw it differently so it doesn't get old too fast.

I've been thinking what exactly is wrong with the characters. And I can't say it's just the art, because there are other shows with very little sexualization which are good.
It's more that the whole characters are de-feminized. And not in a "they're not girl girls" way. I feel like you could swap the characters for guys and leave vast majority of the script as it is, and it wouldn't be much different.
