When you've watched as much anime as I have you run out of good pre-00s anime. You'll get there kiddo. By the way you have to be 37 to post on /animu/. When you do get there you have a choice. Watch the same anime over and over again or pick up the past two decades worth of anime. It's hard. You're not going to like it at first. But you will become a seasonal watcher or drop the hobby entirely.

What's the point in watching seasonal anime if you don't enjoy it? You're forcing yourself to watch things you don't enjoy just so you can continue the illusion that you're an anime fan.

That is why I hate seasonal anime watchers, they don't even enjoy what they're watching most of the time, they're doing it purely to be able to talk about it online and to feel part of something. As proven by the fact that pretty much every anime from this decade gets forgotten a day after they end airing. Go get another hobby if you've run out of good anime.

>What's the point in watching seasonal anime if you don't enjoy it?

But you do. Gundam was a seasonal anime back in 79. You just weren't around so you can marathon it 40 years later.

>You're forcing yourself to watch things you don't enjoy just so you can continue the illusion that you're an anime fan.

If you don't enjoy seasonal anime and only watch old shit you are under the delusion that you will be a "classics anime fan" forever which you won't. You'll run out of anime to watch and either repeat watch the same shit over and over again reliving your glory days of high school when you were captain of the football team and threw four touchdown passes in the state championship. Then you realize you're watching the same anime over and over again, your wife left you for a guy with a better paying job garnishing your wages as alimony, your 46 and selling shoes, and you have no prospects or aspirations in life. Then you'll realize maybe fucking that 20s something girl who's been eyeing you up in the back of the shoe store and watching seasonal anime isn't that bad. You get your dick wet and you watch something new for once in your life. Maybe life doesn't have to be watching EVA for the 20th time. Maybe things don't have to be so terrible. Maybe things could change. Don't become a failure anon. Live your life to the fullest.

You know what I mean. I'm talking about currently airing anime.

And even though you wasted your time writing an unfunny essay, you still never answered my question. Why are you watching anime you do not enjoy for the sake of fitting in on an online community?

I disagree that my essay was unfunny. It was quite apt and fit an absurd abstraction of your mental state at this time. The juxtaposition. of your mental state with Al Bundy was perfect for a response at this time. You don't realize that you are a failure of failures yet so I put it down in metaphor and prose. When you get old enough to drink maybe you'll understand. Until then you have to be 37 to post on /animu/.

There's an arc about a girl looking for Thorfinn because in the past he killed her father/was part of the raiding party that destroyed her village. She ends up being trained by an expert hunter to learn to kill & eventually invents her own crossbow. That's what I think he's referring to.

But before that all happens, there's a long break in the story after Askeladd is killed by Prince Canute wherein Thorfinn loses all motivation in life. Ending up on a farm where he has to go through a self discovery arc to figure out where to go from there/move on.

The only thing less creative than high school anime is historical anime. While putting my distaste for VS aside, from the 3,5 best anime I'm watching this season, 3 of them have this queer hs setting. Not sure how they keep getting away with it.

My take on it I just watch what I consider good, special, etc. Things with soul in them. Also there's truly not that many angsty highschool anime out there. HS settings are common, but angst isn't.

Imagine not watching seasonal anime.
