Anyone else feel like this show has jumped the shark?

It was much better when it was still about fighting titans outside the walls.

Where did the season end? I only read the manga. Isn't it still about that till the Marley-arc?

Next would be Marley then, so they were still fighting titans outside the walls. I guess the focus shifted to other things though but that's what made it more interesting to me than other shonen manga.

It jumped the shark when it showed Eren was able to become a titan.

>you thought it was actually a show about humanity overcoming obstacles through their own wit, using tactics and technology to overcome man-eating titans?

>nope, it's just a super-robot show ayy lmao

I've been calling this series Seinfeld no Kyojin ever since my gf showed it to me and I can tell you without irony that watching/reading it as a comedy or parody of mecha makes it much more enjoyable than thinking it had any sort of direction whatsoever.

Also the guy behind it just copies fan theories he read online to come up with plots.

protip there's not a single panel of this manga that isn't improved by faceapp

Like the battle for Trost? No wit or tactics. Just bio-mechs punching each other. I must have forgotten that part.

Seriously, don't you ever get tired of making this same complaint over and over?

It was like that for less than 9 episodes, and in terms of quality they were some of the worst in the entire show. It might just be a super robot show now, but at least it's watchable and Eren occasionally shuts his mouth.

I would argue that Eren's old man curmudgeonism after the time skip makes him one of the better characters in the manga. His kill em all attitude has naturally evolved into something I agree with so I can't actually fault him for that.

It was basically inevitable. Almost zero popular manga with a concept of "band of survivors are being killed by scary monsters" don't either reach a point where a balanced group of well-liked characters consistently begin surviving, or they find some method of using enemies abilities against them, also leading a similar group of survivors. A straight horror series might avert this and just keep on killing people, or god forbid have a fucking end, but anything with a semi-shonen structure will inevitably need people who're going to survive long enough for the action figures to release. AoT, Gantz, Terraformars, it's all the same concepts and execution. Being able to constantly come up with new powers/monsters of the week keep them exciting and drama is handily sorted by just killing someone off every few months, have an evil conspiracy/mystery to tie it all together and pretend there's some kind of lasting plan to it all.

Stick around and have fun with the gore and interesting designs, but don't bother putting much hope in it being able to keep it up for multiple seasons. The entire concept is basically a crutch.

It jumped the shark the minute titan shifters were introduced, so it has been shit sonce close to the beginning.

It never jumped the shark. It was always hinted at. Though terminology aside, I preferred when it was just weird titans being locked up in the basement. I feel like that was clearly the intention at some point. When they patrolled the side of the wall looking for a hole in it, only to find out the titans had gotten in without destroying the wall.

And I don't think you would have preferred it honestly. It would've just gotten stale. It's already very slow-paced and grand schemes are being keikaku'd that in the end fail, or end influencing something of not much importance always feeling a bit like the aftermath of a wet fart.

The anime is censored garbo and aside from the first season they don't try. Not sure why people still watch it.

I mean, that's just Toei in general. Though there's something to be said for anime that take it comfortably and do not feel cheap-ass in the process. Toei is just cheap, being slow is least of their problems.

I feel a strong overlap of retards hating on snk and on berserk for progressing the story beyond the first chapter. I've yet to see any actual argument why the stories are bad, besides the infantile down-syndrome crying of "itsbadbecauseidontlikeit".

Berserk is bad because it's drawing out an incredibly simple story that should've ended years ago but has gone on so long the reviled villain is more heroic than the MC. AoT is bad because... it's just kind of a goofy shit concept. Not because it went from titans to humans being the biggest threat.

Some gay shit on the level of Eren embodying all of Ymir's asshurt, and releasing everyone from titan shifting with his death, is far more likely.

The manga is still on my reading list, but I just skip through real fast. To keep up to date with the trainwreck. Honestly, my last clear memory is from the end of the timeskip: when I was absolutely sure there was nothing left to care about.

Just in case you weren't up to date with the latest instalment: Eren sends all the wall titans to destroy the outside world, and Annie awakens from her crystal prison. What a waste of a good premise, I can't believe someone actually pays to read that shit. And am honestly surprised there was no uproar once the tv series hit the point of no return.
