I am watching DBZ all the way through for the first time. I watched Dragonball years ago but I am only gonna pick up the manga this time because there is so much weird perverted shit in between horribly boring parts and I don't want it taking up space on my HD. What can I expect knowing almost everyone else has watched this except me?

These. If you have the time, you could watch the original DBZ, but if you're reading the manga, you're bound to be turned off by the amounts of filler the anime has. Here's a torrent with the original high quality broadcast audio. Fuck all dubniggers

I think the Cell Saga is worth watching too. However, it should've gone differently:

>Goku still remains the only super-saiyan, otherwise the entire legend of the "legendary super-saiyan born once every thousand years" becomes meaningless if literally any saiyan can become one

>Gohan's inner power he releases to defeat Cell still happens, but it's similar to the meditation/kai power from the Buu Saga rather than super-saiyan

If that alone happened, it would've been the perfect ending to the series.

Nope, android/Cell saga is complete trash moving from one stupid power-up to another. The moment other people could become super saiyans it killed the usefulness of most of the characters. The power creep that happened on Namek only works as a conclusive resolution to the series.

This never gets brought up enough. Buu saga is amazing in so many ways once you realize what Toriyama was going for. It doesn't matter that the guy made so many mistakes along the way and forgot basic things about the series, he's a comedic genius that accidentally an entire genre and it went out on a joke that went over many people's heads.

The real culprit for DBS is the live-action movie that was penned by a nigger. Battle of the Gods was a response to the live-action movie, and from there we got DBS. At this point Toriyama is old and tired but at least he's aware enough to know that the only hands DB should be away from is hollywood.

When you realize that DBS is actually just his way of keeping DB out of the live-action rape, it all makes sense. He wrote DB in the 80s to get a paycheck, now he writes DBS to prevent DB from getting raped again.

If watching DBZ is too slow for you then nothing will change that. People will point to DBZ Kai as a remedy but then you'll get poorly remaster-filtered animation mixed in with poorly redrawn frames. Maybe there's an autism-release by some group that does what Kai was supposed to do but without lazy Toei fuck-ups. On a related note, there is a guide to even finding the correct release and debates over the proper color filter to view DBZ.

If you absolutely want to experience DBZ and that's too much of a hassle, just read the manga.

Almost, the answer is it should've ended right here. All the misgivings you might have about Namek and beyond are because the whole can of worms about Goku's origin was opened to begin with in a series where no real plan was probably made for it from the start. Pic related in particular more than anywhere else in the series has all the makings of a 'correct' ending. Practically the entire cast is present, Goku accomplishes both main goals that had been occupying most of the entire series up to that point (defeating his greatest enemy up to that point, winning Tenkaiichi Budokai), and he literally rides off into the sunset with new wife in arm. There's practically nothing to complain about.

>perverted shit

SJWS GET OUT. The "perverted shit" is in the manga too, anyway.

But I am autistic for Dragon Ball so I'll still talk about it. The Dragon Ball anime doesn't have nearly as much filler as Z. It's also better, and if you think it's boring compared to Z, you're a retard. Also, it's all one series. The anime just changed its name after 150 episodes. You really should watch the whole thing, if you're going the anime route. Just reading the manga is also acceptable, but it's a different experience, and switching halfway is stupid. It's all just called "Dragon Ball" in the manga. There is no "Z."

If you hate the filler, you can watch Kai instead, which removes most of it and is half as long as Z. Still watch the Dragon Ball anime before it because it doesn't have much filler anyway.

Personally, I actually like a lot of the filler, for what it is. If you're going to watch Z, you might as well go full retard with it and watch the movies as well, since the filler in Z references the movies (despite them never quite fitting in the timeline correctly). And if you're doing that, you might as well continue on and watch GT, since that's basically just an extended filler arc that takes place at the end. Like previous filler, it references other filler and the movies.

tl;dr: you have three options

>read the manga

>watch the "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Kai" anime series

>watch the Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z" anime series + the movies + GT

Battle of Gods and Resurrection F can go after any of these (or before GT if you are watching that). Super is a whole clusterfuck in itself. The manga expects you to have seen those movies, but the anime redoes the stories over 30 episodes, and then in the original arcs after, the manga makes more sense, but it also speeds through things like it expects you to have watched the anime as well. But you're far from reaching Super, so you don't need to worry about that yet.

>>107792

Battle of Gods. A couple others are okay for what they are, but Battle of Gods is the only one that feels like a real movie. The ones that come closest other than that I'd say are Dead Zone, World's Strongest, and the first Broly movie. All I mean by that is that at least they have beginnings, middles, and ends. They have stories. More than can be said for a lot of the "movies."

>>109492

I think this is a reasonable answer. Goku always wanted to be the strongest guy in the world, and along the way he ended up fighting some fantasy magic bad guys and saving the world. This arc merges those two concepts, and he must beat the fantasy magic bad guy, who is directly tied to the Dragon Balls themselves, in order to win the tournament and be named strongest guy in the world. This is the point where Goku literally becomes stronger than God. So then in order to keep the tension going Toriyama had to be like "uh oh, who is stronger than God? Uh... aliens? Actually, the aliens were working for a stronger alien. Uh oh. Now Goku is the strongest guy in the universe. Who is stronger than that? Uh... robots? Ok, well what next? Uh... more gods? And then more gods after that?" There is a theme of there always being a bigger challenge, which is good because it allows you to always become stronger. But really the two most central goals were achieved with Piccolo Jr..

I'll list them off in their original English names since the Japanese names all say 'Strong Man vs Strongest Man' or some variation of 'World in Danger'.

>Curse of the Blood Rubies

Story is a bad retelling of the first arc, but it has good animation (which can be said for all of these films)

>Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle

Fun original story, best of the 4 DB movies in my opinion.

>Mystical Adventure

Summary of RRA and the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. Really good movie.

>The Dead Zone

Terrible, garbage story, but it's still fun.

>The World's Strongest

Perfected the Z movie formula, and is the last movie to have a Masako Nozawa as Gohan insert song.

>Tree of Might

It's a fun movie. Better than 5 and 6.

>Coola's Revenge

Could actually work if you're one of those autists that shoves movies into the canon, and it's the most colourful of the Z era thus far.

>Coola's Return

Shit, bland environment, but Goku and Vegeta take down Coola in a smart way.

>Super Android 13

Don't watch it.

>Broly

Actually pretty good despite the autism surrounding it.

>Bojack

First movie where it isn't Goku that saves the day. Also very colourful and fun, makes good use of its cast as well.

>Broly 2

Second movie where Goku doesn't save the day, not as good as Bojack, but on par with Broly. A lot more funny as well.

>Bio Broly

This depends on how much you like Goten, Trunks, 18 and Mr. Satan. I like most of them, so I enjoyed it.

>Fusion Reborn

One of the best DB movies.

>Wrath of the Dragon

One of the most aesthetic DB movies. Last Z movie in the classic art style.

>A Hero's Legacy

GT Epilogue film about Goku Jr. It's okay. Watch it if you feel like the GT ending was perfect.

>Path to Power

Really good, a nice film to end the series on. Shame about what happened later.

>Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return

Technically an OVA, but still good. It's meant to be comedic and just be like "Yeah, Earth is still peaceful and all future threats are non-issues we send the plot devices to take care of, and Vegeta's brother is a nice guy."

>Kami no Kami/Battle of Gods

It's fun, but it uses that awful Super artstyle where everybody looks like they're stiff and made of plastic. Definitely one of the better Z plots and a lot funnier than most of them.

>Fukkatsu no F

Only good part is Jaco, the Maximum the Hormone insert song and the big fight. Everything else sucks, read Jaco's manga instead.

>Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Really good film, as it still has comedic bits and a unique story, as well as a great fight. It's everything good from the last two movies, and then they got rid of the last issue, the terrible artstyle. Only potential issue would be it being connected to the Super anime, but it isn't, it's a sequel to the superior manga.

>Coola's Revenge

>Could actually work if you're one of those autists that shoves movies into the canon

Most of the movies can kinda sorta work if you are willing to watch them out of order with the episodes (but still in order with the other movies). Of course, most of the movies came out between two episodes of a fight, so they could never actually take place between the episodes they released between.

>three DB movies

Basically their own retelling of DB. Their own continuity. Kinda neat. Some elements, like Chaozu being a prince, are referenced in filler because filler is dumb, so you might as well watch them.

>Dead Zone

Takes place before Raditz shows up. Problem is that Krillin meets Gohan twice and Goku has the Nyoi-bo.

>World's Strongest, Tree of Might, Lord Slug, Cooler's Revenge

All take place during the three year wait for the androids. Now see the problem is that Gohan looks younger than he did on Namek, mostly because of the haircut. But see Chi Chi cut his hair when he got back. Then his hair slowly grew out again over the course of these movies, then got cut like a nerd again before the Androids showed up. Also, you could sorta consider these stories to be Goku trying to reattain and master the Super Saiyan form after that initial outburst against Frieza, except he told Trunks that he already mastered it when he was in space for a year. The premise that he needed to work at it like this checks out, but the timeframe doesn't.

>Cooler 2, Android 13, Broly, Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans

All take place during the ten day wait before the Cell games. Actually, less time than that, because a few days pass before Goku recruits Dende to be the new Kami, and that happens before Cooler 2. If you wanted to be really autistic, there's this one trivia FMV game for something called the Telebikko that would take place here too.

>Bojack

Takes place after the Cell games, when Trunks came back to visit, as we saw when they made those final wishes.

>Broly 2

Takes place right before the tournament in the Buu arc. People say it's a problem that Goten seems to know Goku here, but it's also left to interpretation whether Goku is even actually there. A feeling of being comforted by his father's spirit or whatever, in this moment of tension, is pretty different from being shy when he meets his for real ghost in a casual setting.

>Bio Broly

When Goku's time runs out and he tells Goten and Trunks to get to training so they can master Fusion. Those fuckers never listen.

>Fusion Reborn

This is the hardest one to justify. The closest it can come to making sense is when Gohan is supposed to be doing the unlock ritual with Old Kai. But of course Gohan is in the movie, and nobody acts like it's weird despite everyone thinking he's dead at the time. The timeline works for everyone else though. Goku got bored waiting for Gohan right before this. So we can figure he went to do some other stuff. Enma-dioh is overwhelmed with souls because Buu just went on a huge rampage.

>Wrath of the Dragon

After Buu is defeated.

>Path to Power

Its own continuity since it's another retelling of Dragon Ball. It is a nice way to end the series though.

>All take place during the three year wait for the androids

Coola's Revenge works in that context. I'd say World's Strongest does as well.

Tree of Might doesn't. They reference Freeza near the start in a way that implies he's still around, and Lord Slug doesn't work because Goku attains a false form of Super Saiyajin. Your reasoning doesn't work because of your explanation.

I'm willing to accept Goku just didn't feel the need to use Super Saiyajin in World's Strongest though, because at the time, it was a form his body wasn't accustomed to until the Ten Days.

>All take place during the ten day wait before the Cell games

Android 13 doesn't work. Gohan isn't one of the 3 Super Saiyajins, there's no mention of Cell, Trunks' design is completely different, Gohan's design is completely different, and that opening makes no sense.

The rest kind of work, Coola's Return is weird since Gohan is 3 years timeskip age and doesn't have Super Saiyajin, but they made this movie like 3/4 of a year before Dende became Kami in the manga so you can't really blame them.

> People say it's a problem that Goten seems to know Goku here

Shouldn't be. There's pictures and Goku looks just like him. In fact, it enhances Goten's reaction to Goku's arrival at the Tourney, since Goku is not just his dead dad, but also the guy who helped beat Broly.

See the false Super Saiyan is just them getting all hyped for something that they've only seen briefly once and haven't been able to reattain yet. It's like an almost-super saiyan form.

I forget the specific Frieza reference. If it's just from Turles and his crew, we can assume they haven't gotten the news yet. If it isn't... then fuck it it's a plothole. I'm sure there are many other small plotholes like this with all of my explanations. Like Gohan's pet dragon first appears in a movie that was released before the Garlic Jr. arc, but in my timeline we would watch the movie after that arc, meaning you see the dragon before his actual introduction. I forgot to mention that one in my last post.

>Android 13

Yeah the biggest problem with all the movies I put before the Cell games is that Goku and Gohan aren't Super Saiyan the entire time. I can otherwise justify to myself Gohan not being a Super Saiyan, or nobody mentioning Cell (not mentioning other big goings on is standard for stories like this anyway), and different hair and clothes, but yeah, obviously there are plotholes. I'm just trying to figure where they fit best. The filler has plotholes on its own anyway. I'm just trying to minimize them. I watched it in this order like a year ago and it was pretty cool. Mostly flowed pretty well.
