I like this board. This is a good board.
I'll be contributing to keep it alive!

/pol/ is going down the shitter since the second exodus. The drop in quality of posts has been astounding. Don't link this board on there.

>>524I don't even remember how I found this board but don't abandon /pol/ to shitposters. Ever since the first exodus (when I came here) I've been doing the work of calling out shitposts and at least saying "this is shitposting and here's why you didn't contribute any content, this is a reminder that we want contentful posts so please keep your shitposting on /b/"
In the first few weeks after, I was getting support from other recent migrants, the odd "thank you" or two when I called people out. If we made a point to build the culture there of intolerance of vacuousness, it would catch on, that is, I believe there is genuine support for a monolithic /pol/ where shitposting simply doesn't work and the discussion is fruitful and topical.
As long as one person per thread is calling out (no need for lots of people calling people out on it, because that become shitposting and could be baited) and in that one post he also contributes something on topic (so he's not shitposting by proxy) it could be downplayed as "board culture" to thoughtfully say "excuse me, but your post saying JIDF pls go does not add anything new to the discussion and is worthless on a board that values meaningful content. Please remember to hide and ignore posts you don't like :^)" Meanwhile everyone who isn't shitposting can hopefully discuss the topic.

>>533agreed. we need slow boards to crystallize our thoughts.
small "think tanks" and war rooms to grow, plan and build a movement. If there is anywhere on the internet to do it, it is 8chan.

>>530My thought is that it's still to early for this, admin. You need to build a firm user base before hiding the key. Board is extremely slow and quality is gradually improving.

>>533>>535>>543I have hidden it, and will keep it as such for one week. That should give the newcomers time to adjust themselves to the new place.
I am aware that it seems extremely slow, but considering how it was two weeks ago, I am surprised we are even here. Removing it from index merely prevents people coming here because they noticed that we have some traffic, they can still be directed by suggestions or mentions in other boards. In fact, there is a mention of this board on the first page of /boards/ because of when I was trying to prevent it from being deleted.
As for the wordfilter, see the image. There were many more words that were automatically replaced, but that was because I was still experimenting with this resource. As of the use of "blimp", I did it to discourage needless swearing.
I will try to post a short list of my moderation parameters still today.

the high brow nature of the board would really deter it to begin with.
its hard to insert blimping cunt rag into a discussion about gustave le bons crowd psychology

Measures taken by moderator:
>Warning and deletion of post
Used when posters begin steering from the topic of the thread or board. The user is warned about the fact that their post will be deleted and why that is. The warning and the post itself will remain up for the time deemed necessary by the owner/volunteer for the user to see it, and then both will be removed. Example:
[Post 1]- “There is that movie where the bad guy tries to start a cult using that same set of techniques. I guess the producers did their research”.
[Post 2]- “I think I’ve seen that movie. That director really does his research, like on his movie about corruption in the furniture industry”
[Post 3]- “That’s a good one too. That decade was when he did his best works. Can you suggest me other movies by him?”
Owner- “>>[Post 2] and >>[Post 3] will be deleted in one hour along with this post because they constitute off-topic discussion. Please think before posting and keep to the subject at hand.”
Note that the users were not threatened with a ban or scolded, they were merely warned so that they will understand why these measures were taken. Also, the first post was left there because a movie suggestion depicting an example of the subject actually adds to the discussion.
>Post deletion without warning
Used for comments and threads that are obviously not adding anything to the discussion and being intentionally off-topic, which will be deleted immediately. Example:
[Post 1]- “>tfw being manipulated by the Illuminati”
>Post deletion with ban threat
Used when the same user has made previous posts that required immediate deletion without warning (shitposting), or is being extremely offensive, or is spamming. Example:
[Post 2]- “Of course you believe that, you’re a dumb faggot who likes to choke on dick while making shitty posts. I swear to god, you people will believe anything if it fits your blimped-up world view. I hope you die in a fire, cunt.”
Owner- “>>[Post 2] You are being disruptive and needlessly aggressive. Your post adds nothing to the discussion and was made in a purposely inflammatory way. It will be deleted in a few minutes, and if you persist with this sort of attitude you will be banned.”
>Post deletion and banning
When posters in the previous case refuse to behave properly, or in case of raid, or in case of posting illegal material (e.g. CP).
>Observations
Warnings should be brief and clear. Bans will be short, but will increase in length in case of repeated offenses. All posts deleted should be screen capped for future reference, as well as the posts to which they might have been replying and the warning given by the volunteer/owner. In case of raid all actually productive threads should be locked and stickied.

>>530I'm okay with it if we get enough posts to sustain the board. If you find this board or are referred to it, you might have something to contribute. Some general /b/ shitter coming around isn't the kind of person we want here.
