After Bungie's fall out with their so-called Marathon reboot, I fully accept Microsoft's Halo over Bungie's. Bungie is dead, hope that reboot gives Sony the incentive to finally take old yeller out back. The Halo Trilogy remakes in Unreal Engine 5 can do what Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Samus Returns did to Metroid's 1 and 2 and completely replace them for all I care.

Looks fine, my friends and I could use a shooter that doesn't consistently suck. I mean yes it would be cool if they remade the classic Marathon games, but that doesn't sell and they aren't going to.

This isn't going to sell either, multiplayer games are on their way out, gameplay-focused singleplayer is the way to go, Bungie blew their load and they are out. The three rumor Halo projects coming from Microsoft, two from them/Halo Studios: the singleplayer-only Halo CE/trilogy remakes and the singleplayer-only Halo Infinite sequel (Halo "7") will probably do well, the third game from Certain Affinity, the multiplayer only Halo game (Project Ekur) rumored to be yet another Extraction shooter but will all the classic Halo MP stuff is probably dead on arrival while also being the main and only Halo MP going forward. The way things are going, Microsoft is preparing Halo to become a singleplayer-only series starring Master Chief whether it's the trilogy remakes or the Infinite sequels at least as far as the mainline FPS series is concerned. The good news is Project Ekur will be the start of spin-off games down by third parties supervised by Microsoft/Halo Studios.

I'm amazed games like this are even still coming out honestly. My friends and I play these flavor of the month shooters for a few weekends and then forget. They probably are on their way out, just takes trends a few years to cycle through the market.

Yup, I'm already predicting both a AAA crash and a home console crash in the coming years. Nintendo and Microsoft were smart to play the long game and focus on indies and AA. Now with Microsoft following Nintendo's path of streamlining their AAA teams downsizing them, having them collaborate with different teams both first party and third party, and focus on high quality over high budget, they'll be safe from what's coming. I can see $100 AAA games along with $800-$1000+ home consoles causing a domino effect from this year throughout 2028 in the game's industry. Sony and some third parties are taking a hard hitting and gaming handhelds will be the future. With wokeness getting put in the grave permanently. After the mainstream crash, video games should become good again like it was from the 80s to the early 2000s.
