I've been shilling my game enough but this is the last time I will, at least here on /v/, mostly because I want opinions on how to improve, and what better place than the VN thread.
Ich Will Project is a relatively basic visual novel, that puts you in a situations of trust and internalized psychological problems in order to ultimately solve the mystery of the disappearance of your friend, while at the same time making a difference in the life of the people involved, hopefully for good.
Your childhood friend Eileen entrusted you a secret: How to enter people's psyche. The next moment she disappeared in front of your eyes. Now no-one around you is able to remember she ever existed… or do they? With very little knowledge about what's happening, and in the hope of rescuing her you try to follow her instructions and gather pieces inside the mind of key people close to her. Will you be able to bring back Eileen? Or you will end just like her?
>3 Main routes with 3 unlockable routes.
>Each route is made by 8 parts, not counting the intro with 1 part for each girl.
>Each route will have choices and 3 different endings, not counting the "general" bad ending.
>Each part will have at least 1 CG with multiple variants
The main idea behind the game is variations and subconscious. Each psyche you will travel to will reveal you a vastly different reality, from a military castle, to a futuristic city and a deserted island.
To give you an idea of the elements of the game, the game mainly draws inspiration from Hoshizora no Memoria, Yume Miru Kusuri and Imouto Paradise, for the story, themes and the structure of choices in that order, among other things. It will not be completely smut, it will be mostly story heavy, but it will have a lot of sexual content.
Here's a link to the latest 0.2 version. Don't let the low version number fool you, the game is 500mb currently with a total of 12 routes, with 24 scenes total, and 291 images, among other things, and will only get bigger with future plans:

As for the characters, they transition to that state when inside their minds. You can say it's a product of their subconscious on how they see themselves. I don't want it to be pretentious, though, it's just "This is how they see themselves inside their head", if you will. That's a big part of the gimmick of the game.

Don't take this as an insult but you would be better off going to Reddit to ask for criticism. Much larger pool of people to obtain criticism. Also I would advise hiring an artist instead of using 3D models. VNs are a visual medium. You don't need to be a great artist but decent art is more appealing than those Koiketsu tier models. If your art is decent, then you need to follow up with good sound design and writing. Higurashi got popular and that had shit art but made up for it with good sound design. You don't need voice actors but people appreciate that.
If most of those seem impossible or impractical. Then you're better off making a book since that only relies on your writing skills.

I'm not very happy having to use 3D models myself, but artists are expensive. I have a patreon in hopes of getting art for the game, but of course, I don't make money at all. I tried looking for guys who wanted to collaborate, and although some of them tried, without money involved, is very hard to be motivated, so I started working with 3D models. Pic related some of the drafts one of the artists made, very similar to what I did and wanted. I am learning how to draw myself, but I'm nowhere near to decent yet.

The important parts of visual novels in my opinion is story and writing first and appearances second, but appearances play a huge subconscious role, personally I'd say stick to writing.
Get the draft for the story done, figure out literally everything to do with the story and keep drawing. Then eventually you'll have a hopefully good story and decent enough art to make people think it's at least a charming game.
The 3D models look seriously ugly though, you could replace every model with replicas of muv luv characters and despite that having a great story I wouldn't be able to stomach it.

I agree that the writing is the most important part. I was mainly talking about getting people to read it in the first place. Good art easily sells VNs. Nekopara is something that got by with mediocre writing but good art though it only got popular due to famous Youtubers playing the games. Sogna games were something many thought were good until they actually played them. I've definitely dropped VNs for writing but never for the art.

Completely agree. That's why I tried doing something at least different. I wanted it to have depth without being pretentious and just being enjoyable to read. I wanted it to feel like, say, Grisaia no Kajitsu when going through it, but not overstaying it's welcome, if there is any.

Well, with what I'm doing, is so the whole visual novel can be played with visuals. The whole story is already done, but all I'm doing right now is making scenes, improving the game's framework, systems, screens, etc. So when and IF I get fund, I can concentrate in a different game while only the art need to be changed.
Basically, the "art" is and have always been a placeholder I could have gone with gobbos like most western games, but those are actually disgusting looking. I'm not justifying mine with "those are worse so mine are better", because that's not really true, but between all the options I had, I really rather go with this.

No. I found it terribly boring and never really connected with any of the characters. The constant change of setting didn't help in that regard. Had some moments here and there but as I said, the boredom outpaces them. There is also a good chunk of the VN that features the problems of what you might call some sexually "queer" character, which I suspect plays no small part in why a lot of western reviewers praise it so much while in Japan it is regarded as meh VN. I won't go into detail not to spoil you in case that is your cup of tea but I can tell you I found that utterly uninteresting.
If you still want to give it a go, pirate first (if you intend to pay at all), because you can find yourself in the middle of woes you couldn't care less about.

I always ignored how that was a tad autistic with time scale and all that but I just ignored it. At least he wasn't just an OP character because OP. He had reason to be like that but yeah no, most back stories are gonna be a bit edgy. Though Sachi, Michiru and Makina (to an extent) aren't as edgy the other two are pretty fucked. But I was looking for that in the first place.

It's mostly confined to certain routes. If you finish a single route and don't feel like you're enjoying yourself then don't bother I'd say. I'm sure someone out there would chastise me for stopping with Dies Irae the same way I'd say you're a faggot for stopping Grisaia.

I have a tab open for every single thread I frequent. So I don't see how it's any different. One tab for the 8kun Share Thread, Vch EDF thread, Julay fighting games and VN thread, /animu/ stream threads, etc. If the site works and the community is good, I don't see a problem hopping from place to place. I know I'm going to get a lot of shit for this, but is the translation for If My Heart had Wings really that bad? Is it just a few lines of text that were slightly altered or was it really an entire overhaul of the story? Finally finished Umineko and I really loved it, despite the downgrade in quality in EP6-8, cheesy final battle, and ambiguous ending. And even then, I understand that that was because Ryukishi's close friend who gave him some help during previous episodes died sometime after EP5. So, of course, one's writing ability would be affected by that. The soundtrack was a genuine 10/10, some really good moments like Battler's final showdown with Beatrice, EP5's Hidden Tea Party, EP7's Breakdown, and pic related, mostly well developed characters, and a really engaging plot. If you don't mind pure, shameless, unadultered chuuni then Dies Irae is true Kamige, 11/10.
Kasumi and Marie routes are the "main" story while Kei and Rea routes were written later and introduce new ideas and flesh out different characters, read Kasumi first and Rea last, other two at your discretion and side stories as they unlock. It has a lot of parallels with F/SN to the point that people will say it's a ripoff but I think the pacing is better it's still as long as the bible though and it saves the main girl for the climactic true route unlike F/SN where saber's route is just an exposition dump 95% of the way and then just ends.
The main character is a strange, autistic fellow but there's a plot reason for it foreshadowed by things like who he shares a voice actor with

Not gonna lie, Kenji was so much wasted potential. He was a great character during chapter 1. And then they just turned him into an irrelevant background character. In Lilly's route, at least. Can't speak for the other routes because I couldn't be bothered with them
Also, the Katawa Shoujo writers were a bunch of bickering cunts anyway. It actually hurt the development of the game, and you can tell that the writing in the later chapters is just not nearly as strong or lively as during the early stuff.
