Yakuza are allowed to operate because of this, even though they are considered a "joke" today, it doesn't account for any rising gangs who replace that power. Also something to note: Indefinite suspension of Free! Is an enormous blow to KyoAni's bottom line. The Free! Series has been KyoAni's bread and butter since 2012. They'd just distributed and released the next movie of the three they had planned and with the loss of Studio 1 the whole of the work and those who worked on it, has been destroyed.

I feel the need to remind everyone that the Senate Judiciary committee is going to be holding a hearing on the CASE tomorrow sometime after 10 a.m. when they convene.

Skopos Labs has a shit algorithm that as far as I can tell seems to factor in irrelevant bullshit like how far along the bill is on the legislative process and how many other bills there are with similar provisions.
One thing you have to realize about proposed legislation is that you don't typically see a split among the votes unless it's a political hot button issue. Literally thousands off bills get proposed every legislative session, and if a bill that isn't tied to a hot button issue doesn't become law it's almost never because congress voted it down but rather there were other bills that they wanted to focus on. The fact that this bill is being considered at all is cause enough for alarm. If there isn't enough pushback, the CASE act will likely coast along and become law.
Effort needs to be made at organizing against this bill. Information to contact lawmakers needs to start being spread to other outlets. I went ahead and compiled a list of the members of the Senate Judiciary and ways to contact them for starters, which I'll dump in my next couple of posts. Those marked with a (*) are choices I believe are good to focus on and I list my reasoning with those. Even if your Senator isn't on this list, you should spread this information to others that have constituency to help get through to them.

Actually, as a former resident of Florida, I can elaborate.
Tourists. Florida is a huge tourism state. But it's not just the tourists that are apart of it, yes, the people of Florida do commit these crimes as well, but it's not simple.
First off, Florida has a public crime record. That should explain it already, but as for the ridiculousness, tourists. The other end of the story is that Florida is a hugely class-based fucked up state, next to the high rise vacation motels are trailer parks, and loads of the state live under the poverty line basically because gentrification from decades ago drove people out of their homes and the state to make way for the insane tourism industry, so generally only the poor are left around these vacation spots, with suburbs being left alone, but to outside residents who want to move in it's a high cost due to the real estate locations. So generally people have been dying off in these neighborhoods. The craziness was at it's highest during the 90's, but nowadays the tourism industry is getting undercut by more readily available entertainment.
So what happens when you put a bunch of college vacation boys, poor fishers, bayou jambalaya boys who regulalrly wrestle gators for fun, rich degenerate fuckers on 24/7 vacation mode, business execs and an open crime report system? And may I remind you, all next to fucking Disneyland?

This happened to a great aunt of mine because her doctor was a dumbass.
They changed up her meds, and didn't realize there was a known interaction between two of them. It sent her off the deep end.
I was tending to her finances for her, but the state decided she needed a legal guardian who was always available - I lived across state lines and couldn't report immediately, so I was deemed ineligible.
After a "professional guardian" was appointed, they decided the best course of action was to get her on gov't insurance to pay for the nursing home instead of utilizing her significant assets. They took charge of her finances, and every attempt I made to get involved was directed to an attorney who would later be disbarred for taking advantage of the elderly (the guardian who routinely worked with him somehow escaped unscathed).
They sold her house and possessions for pennies on the dollar (and some simply went "missing"), completely liquidated her investment assets, and gave the entirety of the money to the state to qualify for medical assistance before her mental state would fully stabilize.
Any attempts to hire an attorney to make the case for her independence would be thwarted because the nursing home and guardian would receive the entirety of her social security checks and I couldn't fund the legal case by myself.
She was devastated, and after increasing frustration with the lack of independence, her health declined and she died within a few months. Even if she were to pay the full rate at a premium care facility, she would've been able to do so for well over a decade.
We just wanted to get her out of the nursing home and into an apartment or something, the assets didn't really matter, but instead the state stole not just her money but her freedom.
If you haven't, and you or a family member have something worth saving, put your shit in a trust. It's the only way to prevent this from happening to you. I was trying to get my great aunt to do it for years but she kept saying it was too much trouble, and she had to learn that lesson the hard way.

The media, games, tv, comics is now the de facto bread and circus of the modern age, it is easily used to placate the masses and as a result, for a long while, the masses were apathetic because such things were right within access.
But the left and "right" fucked up. They started making the media into something other then playtime. It became propaganda. And people noticed that their media was becoming lesser, less quality, less escape, less fun. Politics ruin pretty much anything, and attaching real world aspects to the bread and circus to remind people of their woes takes people out of the escape. It essentially removes the ability to not care for those precious, non-real moments.
Video games aren't a passive medium, they require you to input in the best ways, see flaws in sometimes airtight systems to advance quickly, and to see weakness. It's not like reading or movies. People are required to engage their minds and think up new strategies when problems arise. In most games you have to think on your feet to deal with new arrangements, even the most passive games are designed to shake up what you know because it isn't fun otherwise. These people are used to dealing with challenge, failure, and learning.
But really, the real issue wasn't that gamers were skilled, in fact very few actually are in the political sense. The real reason they fucked up was because they attacked an entire medium, beloved by the majority of the first world. Even with the dumbest behind a medium, this is a grave mistake.
What they woke up wasn't just a mass of people. What they woke up were millions of eyes, ears and mouths in literally every sector of society. Because EVERYONE likes to play games.
They fucked with the thing that allowed us to be apathetic. From here to all time, they fucked with the one thing that allowed them power. They made it impossible to be apathetic. How can we be, when the distractions that allow us to be aren't even worth wasted time?

Doubtful. They brought back the bike for the game and acted like they were saviors, everyone told them that it was a core featured that was never to be removed to begin with. There won't be a Pokemon MMO, you are more likley to see an MMO based of Zelda or Fire Emblem first.

After the difficulty options in Gen 5 were widely praised (even if having to unlock them was stupid) they insist they weren't necessary. There's two categories they're talking about

and they are often regulated similarly.
I don't know the intricacies of firearms law in your shithole, but in the United States, an antique firearm is any produced before 1898. This can still include firearms that use "modern" cartridge ammunition.
It's a completely arbitrary distinction, as two identical firearms can be regulated differently based on the date they were built, but one can be shipped to your doorstep with no paper trail to speak of, and one cannot.
A new muzzleloader could be restricted in your country but an antique might be legal provided it's older than a given threshold.

In a lot of places there are muzzle loader hunting seasons which start like a month before the normal hunting season so if you have a muzzle loader you can take advantage of a more populous deer season to get something good early on. Pic related is a modern muzzle loader, a lot of times people use packed black powder pellets instead of pouring powder down the barrel and the bullets will come prejacketed like this a lot of times so it's all very convenient.

No a bullet is the thing I posted in the third picture. You still have to ram down the powder pellet and bullet separate from each other and they aren't contained in a single cartridge. Which is what you're thinking of. Also it's still a muzzle loader, you still have to take a ram rod and shove all this down the barrel then put a percussion cap on the back for the hammer to fall and strike.
