Youtube-dl is the safer alternative since it does the minimum required, which is send requests only to google-video's server. You can download it and run from terminal or just download the GUI version. Youtube-dl also allows you to dowload videos under certain sizes, if available, and automatically convert them. Long time ago, after I turfed an ex I was very serious about who I'd caught cheating, I ruled that from then on, I'd be spending Christmas alone. Broke that rule once, spent Christmas with my mom, because my stepfather had died a couple of weeks before after a decade-long struggle with multiple degenerative, deadly diseases. Used to say he collected 'em like baseball cards, he was a good guy, and at the time she needed the support.
That Christmas, my eldest sister lost her shit and walked out, and her estranged daughter, my niece, tearfully asked me to go find her. So I spent several hours canvassing the neighborhood in a light jacket, after dark, mid-snowstorm. Stopped back a couple of times to see if she'd returned, and on the third check, she had. Turned out she'd headed straight to the bus station and sat on a nice padded bench in a well-lit lobby with heat and vending machines where she could feel sorry for herself in comfort.
I'll still do Christmas parties with family, but I don't do shit on Christmas.
The purpose of this long and rather pointless blogpost is to illustrate that I don't have to spend Christmas alone, but that I choose to, and I choose to eat shitty food, and embrace the misery with both hands, because if anyone's gonna fuck up my Christmas, it's gonna be me.

At least make good food for yourself, anon. Yesterday cooked myself some delicious pheasant. Put a crème fraîche cover, then added carrots, tomato, potatoes, mushrooms. Then covered the pheasant in a butter sauce with spiced mustard, onions and herbs I grew myself this summer, and stuffed it with apples. Took care of it for around 3 hours by adding that butter sauce regularly so it didn't dry up. We are talking about colours and flavours (yes, I know why they are called that) of particles which haven't been shown to exist being used to prove phenomena exhibited by particles which ALSO haven't been shown to exist. We have scientists just creating particles and types of energy out of thin air with things like dark matter and dark energy by assuming their measurements are correct and then just inventing whatever is necessary to compensate for the resulting error. Einstein's theory of relativity is by far the most obvious example of this, where if something doesn't make sense then it is obviously just you not being able to understand how super quirky it is. The only supposed application of it is for GPS but GPS doesn't actually use relativity, since the error is so insignificant that they don't have to.

Rather than throwing out an old model and making a new one, scientists will spend an exceptional amount of time trying to plug gaps in a current model. That drive that managed to induce propulsion by bouncing ions against a surface, without actually sending the ions outside of the drive itself, should cause some issues for the current model. Last I heard they were trying to plug that gap rather than question if the model they were working with was completely wrong.
