QUESTIONS
>Which game to begin the series with?
Start with Re;Birth 1 to test the waters, then play Re;Birth 2 and/or Re;Birth 3 (with the Re;Translations), and then V-II.
>I've heard of bad translations in the Neptunia games, care to tell me more about it?
Translation Statuses are:
HDN, HDN Mk2 and Victory: NISA cancer.
Re;Birth 1 and V-II: Translation is alright, no worries from these ones.
Re;Birth 2: Not obviously bad at the start, but gets much worse as it goes along: in particular Neptune and Ram were screwed hard during localization. However, there is a Re;Translation made on our very own board (see above links).
Re;Birth 3: Better than the original NISA translation in Victory but still quite a lot of cancer. Main game has been retranslated, translators still required to translate DLC content.
All of the spin-offs: Varying translation quality. These range from cancer to mediocre. Recent releases have been somewhat better overall.

I've been playing through Re;Birth 3, and just got to the part where Iris traumatizes Noire into trying to confront Blanc in Lowee. The gameplay is better than I thought it would be. I hope the story doesn't get as crushingly tedious as VII's got near the end, which I still haven't finished just because of how frustrating it is to sit through all the melodrama. When your plot runs on idiocy, I've got no tolerance for drama or seriousness because it draws attention to all the stupid decisions that led up to the problem being created.

The Humblestore claims their breakdown like this:
(((Payment processors))) get a 5% cut off the top, the remaining money is split with 75% going to devs, 10% to "charity", and 15% to HB for overhead.
It appears that Steam's cut is, in general, 30-40% presumably based on expected shipping volume, size of company, etc but I can't find anything on if that is including payment processor costs or not.
This seems to mean that a dev will get anywhere from 5-15% more from a Humble store copy sold vs a Steam copy sold.
In general if you're a big publisher there is probably very little difference in a sale from HB vs a sale from Steam because you have volume and a better bargaining position.
Smaller companies would probably do better on the Humble Store if a 40% cut on smaller titles is to be believed.
So if we assume a game is sold for 40$ on both the Humble Store and Steam Store the difference is $28.50 vs $24.00-$28.00 calculating from both a 60% take to a 70% take
Not exactly a huge difference to the developers themselves on the most common cut, 30%.
There is a point to be made about giving Steam less money though as they are far too powerful as far as online distribution goes.
565735 No.15038926
>>15038889
At that point you should just pirate the games and mail your money to the devs directly. Though I suppose there is still the point of purposely buying from a non-Steam storefront in order to promote competitors and lessen Valve's influence.

I thought people were hungry for Brave Nep/Super Nep news?
http://operationrainfall.com/2018/07/03/e3-2018-impressions-super-neptunia-rpg/
Right now its looking like it has potential but is either slower in development than expected or its going to be worse than expected
>My initial impressions of Super Neptunia RPG were not great. While the game does work, it felt very rough. The town didn’t seem to have a lot of life in it, the battle system felt conceptual, and outside of her victory pose, Neptune was not smiling. I know that sounds like an odd detail but think about it. When does Neptune not have a smile or grin on her face? She’s a very expressive character, so a lack of expression is a bit jarring. For a game that’s going to be out in Japan in about three months, this was rather worrying. However, I may have an answer for all this. I suspect this was an early build of the game and not something recent.
>I can only speculate, but I think it’s safe to say that this build was the most stable. I’m certain that IFI has a much more complete build back at their offices, but if it’s crashing or not optimized then it doesn’t make sense to bring to a trade show. E3 is a place to show off working demos of games. It’s better to bring an older, more stable build than a recent one that’s prone to crashing. After all, nothing is more frustrating than a buggy game. With this in mind, I’m going to give two opinions about Super Neptunia RPG in this impressions piece. But first, let’s talk about the game a bit.
>Super Neptunia RPG is 2D platforming RPG. If you’ve played Paper Mario or Super Mario RPG then you have an idea as to what I mean. You’ll need to use your platforming skills to navigate through some of the areas. Thankfully to help you, you’ll have access to something that would only exist in a Neptunia title: the Pudding Dogoo. Yes, a Dogoo made of pudding. And it somehow increases your jump height.
>Actually, let’s talk about that for a second since it’s a good example of showing what I mean by the game being “rough”. On one hand, the Dogoo looks great and upon whacking it with Neptune’s sword it’ll make a rather amusing face. However, using it to jump higher is a bit… odd.
>You would think that being made of pudding and being a Dogoo, you’d bounce off it. Especially when you consider that it augments your jump height by quite a bit. Instead, you use it as a platform. You jump on it once, stand there, then jump again. I can kind of see this working, but bouncing off of it just makes more logical sense. As I said, it works, but it feels incomplete.
>Combat has a lot of potential. Your party consists of four characters (in the demo’s case, the main four goddesses) and each character is assigned to a face button on the controller. When pressed your character will perform one action which is dependent on your formation. The party formation is determined by who the “leader” is at the moment. So, if Nep is in the front it’ll be an attacking formation, conversely, if Blanc is in charge it’ll be a healing formation. As such, you’ll need to use the right formation for the right job. However, each action also has a cost.
>In the lower right-hand corner of the screen is a circle that will slowly fill up. Each section of the circle that fills up counts as an action point. Each action you take in battle has a cost associated with it. So, a careful balance between stocking these points, switching formation, and attacking/healing is needed. Really, I can see this being a lot of fun, especially since it gives you a lot of freedom and keeps you engaged. However, there the early nature of the build was again an issue.
>For one, the animations seemed a bit jarring at times. Occasionally the game would stutter, while some animations either weren’t implemented or were too quick for my eye. Vert’s magic attacks are a good example of this. While she certainly is canonically quick, I didn’t notice an animation associated with her magic attacks. They just kind of happened. I’m sure this will be smoothed out by the final retail release, but I think you can see what I mean. So where does this leave my impressions then
>It’s certainly not the worst Neptunia game by any means. Gameplay-wise, I still contend that the original Hyperdimension Neptunia is the worst in the franchise. Though, my least favorite games happen to be Action U and Producing Perfection. Conversely, it’s too early to tell if it’ll be the best game. Especially since I find the original Megadimension VII the best game in the franchise mechanics-wise; with Mk2 being my personal favorite for its story. In the end, I think Super Neptunia RPG is shaping up to be a competent game, though I’m hoping we’ll see an updated build of the game before it launches later this year.

>chaos neps? what's all this?
Chaos Neps were in a Japan only vita mobile game with a gacha system. Lots of Compile Heart IPs were in it. The story was something about chaos energy corrupting people. Each of the main neps and candidates ends up in chaos form. Sadly the game is being shut down soon without the Chaos Planeptune arc. All the other nations have been done. We know what chaos Purple Heart looks like. Chaos Gear has one seen in it and for some reason all becoming chaos did for her was make her a bit stalkery as she seems interested in the main character. Haven't really watched the other chaos nep cutscenes so not sure what it did to them. Other things from the game were beach volleyball versions of vert and white heart. Also vampire Gear and some sort of Halloween Plutia, Santa Gear, and a Chaos Conquest Gear.
As far as the Conquest Gear goes, even though she's chaos, she's immune to its effects or something. As such she's capable of fighting using both share energy and chaos energy. Not positive on this, but it seems everything went well after defeating ASIC and she seems more cheery than you'd think. Also more mature and adult like. Particularly in the boob area.

Nigger I'm talking with even buffs and debuffs (which I would do my best to combine with guard break exe drives) the game was still hard
Are you forgetting that most bosses can do just those exact things too? Lower your accuracy and you're fucked half the time, lower your attack and you end up doing 1 damage per hit, and if they buff themselves while you're debuffed and reeling they can OHKO you with an AoE attack (which will often happen)

Having life rings makes Compa actually heal worth a damn so you can negate her. Re;birth 2 has much more hair-pulling with its boss fights, and even the tutorial to viral monsters hits hard. Also I'm gonna point out that the DLC characters are basically cheating. Plutia in Re;birth 1 has Neptune strength, Compa healing, and IF AoE attacks, while in Re;birth 3, Cave is both fast, and has an insanely cheap SP skill regenerates as much SP as it uses, at least on groups, so she generally wipes out any regular encounter in a single turn.

I guess I'm just sensitive to this kind of humor because it seems like some of the most cancerous games share it, minus the lack of political stuff. I think it's a dangerous road at the very least which is probably why there needed to be retranslations in the first place.
4433b4 No.15148982
>>15148846
There needed to be retranslations because of a bigshot NISA employee being the head of the translations for 2 and 3, because NISA were the first ones to localize the Nep series and they wanted their advice and consultation since NISA (And this guy, Nick Doerr specifically) were the ones to set a precedent and establish personalities for characters and whatnot
NISA being present anywhere in the process automatically taints everything touched.
In terms of Neptunia I don't get the kind of cancerous vibe I normally would from this kind of humor but either way I think having a bit more patience and giving it an honest try might end up being helpful or at least cement for sure whether it'll be worth it for you.
I find all the vidya references and whatnot to be charming and a gratifying sort of fanservice but that's me personally; I just love video games and this panders to people like me rather than soyboys, faggots or redditors. Most people won't know most of the references used for the zone names but I did and I take a little pride in knowing that I did. Makes me feel like I'm well-rounded and informed about games beyond surface-level as a gamer when I do, but that's one example.
You're not wrong about it being a dangerous road though. When something has memes (in Nep's case there were a lot of 2ch memes) and humor like this its easy for localization companies to fuck it up either by accident or willingly, and not only that but it could easily become cancer or dated quickly. I don't feel like this was the case in Re;birth 1 personally though.

I've been trying to think about how to explain why I associate this kind of humor with westernshit but truth be told I can't quantify it myself. I might just feel that there's a certain lack of self confidence in constantly poking fun at oneself. I mean, it's an RPG and it has elements common to that genre. Is that seriously comedy gold? Also the references and stuff you described sound nice but at the same time it's nice for a game to be able to be fully appreciated in a vacuum. It probably gets a free pass on that though because apparently it's entire lore is built around one big reference so that would make it thematically appropriate. I might return to this series later with a fresh mindset once I complete some other vita games, the position based battle system seems pretty neat although it seems like it's going to take a while before the games squeeze a good amount of depth out of it.

Because in the past it was used to cover up shoddy/nonexistant translation.
Now it's generally used in place of references that don't exactly translate well but when you see that sort of shit being brought back, even if it is a moderately correct equivalent, it feels as if they're trying to go back to lazy days/garbage.

That's simple as hell: mockery has become the staple food of this generation, time-wise. That's a big constant in the west, a way to signal not to take matters so "seriously" and really you should just "relax and be easy my good sheep".
Specifically stating, much comedy and wit in the west that doesn't stand out on its own tends to take this low hanging fruit as a first resort to try to fit in and not look dumb. Your reboots and revisits in media are littered with the shit. They take Scooby Doo and they lampoon it. They take Charlies Angels and poke holes through it. Star Wars itself was littered with ill-timed, poor jokes that shouldh't have existed in such quantities or in such a non-subtle manner but there they were, ruining the tone of what's thematically supposed to be an action-packed soap opera in space.
I haven't said Big Bang Theory because that's shooting fish in a barrel, but you get the point. Anyone with even the most minimal taste for something that isn't derivative and bereft of actual punchlines or payoffs—even from something like Married With Children, to say the least of actual comedic setups in Mel Brooks films or Monty Python or Police Academy—they're going to look twice at depreciating, refrencing or self-referencing humor. It's low-effort, it is its own punchline, therefore not all that funny. It's sloppy and often can't carry a scene, to say the least of the few bits of dialogue around it.
The neps get away with it for the most part because you're supposed to be focusing on how cute they are and how much you want to bring Blanc whimpering into womanhood, and all the mostly by-the-numbers adventures they get up to while invoking hamfisted yuri tropes here and there. If referential humor is a weakness, you're not gonna get far. That's all Neptune really does, made far worse, as anon indicated, by Doerr's piss-poor meme-a-thons in two mainstay titles and damn-near all the Pre-Blanc vs Zombies spinoffs.
97c369 No.15150762

And some of the yuri stuff isn't all that codified either; it's a hell of a lot stronger in Hyperdevotion Noire, than in VII where regular Noire there is practically screaming I'M STRAIGHT, to the violent chagrin of an (essentially) actual psycho lesbian.
As far as the writing…Neptunia is a bit different in this regard, to me, than it is in the West where cultural references or excessive joking around is usually just used for an "I GET THAT REFERENCE" or group mentality thing. That's all very banal, not much too it, just sort of an exercise in teaching a seal to clap.
In Neptunia overall, at least when translated somewhat properly…sure, there are the references and self-depreciating humor, but there’s also seems to be an additional framework to it. I see it like this; instead of trying to distract you, the joking around frequently ties into insecurities that the characters in the series have. This fleshes out the characters a little bit, more importantly the choices stemming from those insecurities usually lead to serious situations later on in a particular game. In those situations, where someone is in a bad position and the story isn't making light of it, I've found that invariably the game gently suggests to the player that "you do the right/brave/good thing" through the story at those points. It could be something like trying to help a little kid who lost their parents or a special gift they got from them, or trying to take a dangerous object out of the hands of someone who is trying to harm/kill your friends at great personal risk or fear to yourself. Things along those lines.
Sometimes it even tries to sneak something like that into a lighthearted scene, too: there's one bit in the third game, for example, where the game mentions how one of the main characters is raising some kids in it and is telling them to be careful with money and to be cautious with borrowing and lending said money. The whole scene, nothing bad is happening, but the point is still made inoffensively as part of the narrative. Still instructive, and telling you to think about your finances is diametrically opposed to what we see in the West with lootboxes and cosmetics. Or arguably gacha in the East, as well.
So overall, there seems to be a bit of moral fibre mixed into the whole thing. Not a lot, and you can certainly go over the quality of it. But even so, what is there feels a little more substantial than what it could otherwise be, and frequently is elsewhere.

> finish gauntlet first time
> "hey good job, but make sure you clear it with ALL the characters AND their HDD forms because now those count as separate characters lol! Guidelines and tips for email-writing to these guys:
0. USE A PROFESSIONAL EMAIL, THIS IS IMPORTANT
1. If you've bought any Witcher games or played GWENT, you have a big advantage because of how important of a product it is to CD Projekt group. Bring that up, especially Gwent if you've done anything. Doesn't matter which platform you bought it on. Gwent was considered their biggest/most important project in 2017. If you're at all excited for Cyberpunk 2077, mention this as well.
2. Be polite and courteous, inform from an objective standpoint why GoG is bungling on their marketing and PR fronts- From their financial report they pride themselves on communication and management, as well as direct, clear communication with gamers. What has been going on recently has been the exact opposite, and many gamers feel alienated, disappointed and even silenced in some cases. Bring these up with examples you can point to. Mention how you feel the communication is lacking, how you feel that GoG was unfair in taking sides in such a heated and controversial topic, how you feel your needs as a gamer and customer are not prioritized. If you feel the Witcher or CDPR twitter was good or better in handling situations like this, bring that up and mention that you feel GoG needs to take a note from that model.
3. Mention which country you are from- This has an advantage for most people because of GoG's breakdown of customers. If you are a U.S. customer, you get an advantage because of how big a portion you count for in GoG and CD Projekt's financials but most large and common countries will be noteworthy enough for you to include yourself. Plus it will aid the effort more if they receive emails from a diverse variety of countries.
5. Say you feel this harms and does damage to the CDPR and GOG brands in your eyes. Use the word "brand" explicitly as well as "risk" if you are able, they're automatically head-turners. Brand is key and critical to nearly all companies. Bring up their mission statement and financial reports and what have you. Be sure to be coming from a position of understanding. Bring up matters you believe GoG handled well, like their sales (or the Summer sale), the large and increasing amount of new games being added year by year, the visual novel additions in the wake of Valve, a major competitor's attempted censorship or what have you, but be clear that this event and events like this one will cause the same kind of issues and further problems down the line for GoG. Consumer trust will fall if GoG cannot manage simple marketing for game releases without these kinds of issues happening. Mention that GoG never had to create this problem in the first place; that it was an unnecessary risk that has alienated numerous amounts of customers and that the lack of transparency is jarring.

I understand your efforts are meant to be positive but if your aim is to look like a consumer your email should not be "professional", it should be "polite".
Mentioning shit like "brand" and "risk" while telling people to mention that specifically in a mass campaign is literally a flashing red light that signals to a lot of people that the campaign may not be legitimate, even if it is, and can be cause for them to ignore the emails entirely.
Your best bet is actually going to be informing people of what happened, their correct lines of communication not their business email address normally, and send positive reinforcement.
Supporting a company that you like is several times more helpful than sending angry emails because it is far easier to continue to do something than it is to stop and replace something.

They've been doing plenty of things I like and people were told to mention what they like that GoG has done in their emails.
I was fine with GoG before this and I'm still fine with them as a storefront, just… less trusting of them now and also disappointed in them. I'd just like an olive branch extended to more fucking places than Resetera. They could've at least went into their own forums or subreddit to douse these flames but they didn't. There's no positive reinforcement I can give that I can see here, unless you mean supporting other companies and storefronts entirely but many of them just sell steam keys for nep games which kinda defeats the purpose of using them anyways

Did you give a shit about GoG's political stance on anything before those tweets?
Do you know what actually happened? Do you think a monolithic entity, known as a whole as "GoG", runs their twitter? I know you aren't that stupid.
Is it not entirely possible that the retards running GoG's twitter are responsible for this entire debacle on their own and they are the ones who need to go? Based on a bit of evidence gathering, I suspect this to be the case.
I also found all of this out with about 20 minutes of research. Does GG not do basic research anymore?

https://archive.fo/84DrK
A moron who decided to support retarded, unethical journalists realized his tweet could be seen as support of something he doesn't believe GG as an ethics campaign and broadcast himself twice using the GoG Twitter account as part of his "job".
The mistake GoG made was hiring an actual SJW to run their Twitter.
If your goal is to show GoG that their customers align with GG as an ethics campaign you should let them know that. Doing so is more valuable than sending three thousand emails that are the equivalent of
<reeeeee brand is bad now reeeeeee
>I was fine with GoG before this and I'm still fine with them as a storefront, just… less trusting of them now and also disappointed in them
I'm not saying what they did was ok but a lot of companies do extraordinarily irresponsible shit, like not keeping their "social outreach" arms inline with their company philosophy or not requiring them to run shit past their actual bosses. This is what leads to a lot of these "incidents"
Revise your campaign.

No, that's the point. I would've preferred things to stay that way.
> Do you think a monolithic entity, known as a whole as "GoG", runs their twitter?
That's not the point. Its one thing for an employee at GoG to screw up, or even a branch of them. What's irresponsible is their lack of communication and transparency with their own customers and consumer base. Anyone with a brain at GoG could've seen how much of an incident this was, the support tickets sent alone should've told that. but nothing was changed. This entire idea was borne out of a lack of options due to GoG's utter lack of responses besides shutting things down. They've had to delete threads on their own forums like mad and contain everything to 2 threads while plenty were being made organically out of the outrage.
>Konrad
That was the same faggot who went on Resetera and chatted those fags up while the GoG forums remain silent and the subreddit's thread about the apology got locked.
Their own users are letting them know right now, look in the GoG forums and as many people know right now as are going to at this point.
They haven't communicated whatsoever with their own customers, their twitter has been radio silent and nobody knew about the Resetera forum until people found out about it.
>I was fine with GoG before this and I'm still fine with them as a storefront, just… less trusting of them now and also disappointed in them
This sort of thing was included in the email along with the brand shit. The guidelines are clear in terms of representing oneself as a customer first.
>Revise your campaign.
Its too late anon. This idea was already made late and to salvage whatever we could out of people who still felt strongly enough about it to do something. Within the next 1-2 days it'll pretty much be done with unless GoG does something.
I'll keep this in mind the next time this happens, I suppose.
Just wish you showed up earlier, this might've borne fruitful results if it had been done earlier, maybe. Considering how silent they were though… maybe not.

I don't remember anything like that coming out, what was the name of the employee and do you have a source?
Either way assuming its true a single random literally who rogue employee shouldn't have that much power on Steam to be able to ban all those fucking games, it also seemed way too organized of a response against numerous developers to be a single employee. NCOSE also claiming credit for it implied it reached higher level management, at least with how proudly they were displaying those letters they sent to Valve's higher-ups about asking for this sort of shit to get banned.
>formulation of an actual policy on "adult content" rather than some vague bullshit
They don't have an actual policy yet afaik, that was just a single almost blogpost-tier statement was made by someone who was equally a literally who employee in Steam's company.
Not to mention despite that statement coming out there are still games that were censored that were never brought back up with Valve refusing to talk to them, like in the case of MangaGamer and A Kiss for Petals:Maidens of Michael

The excuse of "They need time" doesn't fly with me because it never works both ways with Valve. It always takes them significantly longer to fix their mistakes if they ever bother to, than to make them. They can censor niche games in a heartbeat and they've done so. There's a loli VN that got pulled entirely off Steam because a single fucking leaf complained, despite the developers pleading and explaining their situation.
If I wanted to, I could teach retards on Steam a lesson by reporting a bunch of nip games and I'd likely be able to fuck them over. That's beneath me, but anyone can do it.

For what it's worth, I had a strong preference for GOG myself but if they are going to bend the knee I'd rather go with another group that, while incompetent or rotten in some areas, is less pliable that way despite the other problems. Ideally I'd rather get directly from IFI, however.

Most of the time a corporation will spend a significant amount of time deciding new policy before rolling it out.
They have already reversed most of the garbage from whatever happened that caused the tittypocalypse.
What they need to do now is actually craft a concrete policy that covers most situations.
They can't roll out a perfect policy instantly when every region has different actual laws regarding what is and isn't allowed and valve does have to follow the law.
Oddly enough that does take time but I'm sure you have experience with this and you don't need to be reminded of that.
>there are still games that were censored that were never brought back up with Valve refusing to talk to them
Yeah that happens with widespread policy decisions. Things get caught in limbo and nobody says anything until they can say something specific.

http://nichegamer.com/2018/07/16/gamedevs-claim-steam-is-halting-adult-game-submissions-until-filter-system-is-working/
>Unfortunately we’ve not been able to get a timeline on this but we’ll continue to keep you all informed once we have new information as well as any other decisions we make in the meantime
>We’ve also learned via TechRaptor that when they reached out to other developers of adult games, that even some titles already on Steam may need to be resubmitted.
>We reached out to the publisher Sekai Project who confirmed the situation and said that they had other titles that they had been told to resubmit for. They were unable to share which those titles were, but also explained that it will impact existing titles as well as new ones. Sekai Project also explained they are exploring alternative platforms to release the games on as they had been waiting for over two months.
>Following up on this I reached out to other developers who were impacted by the events in May. Several of them said they had received letters from Valve detailing that they were working on new tools that would require additional information to be filled out when the new system is implemented.
So basically these devs and publishers are fucked in the meantime despite Valve's statements otherwise.
(((Sekike Project))) aside, this is happening to a lot of developers and damaging them heavily.
>Earlier in October of last year, Valve stopped developers from posting links to “uncensoring patches” for their games via the game’s Steam Community message boards.
And that doesn't help either.
With Valve's luck this might take a year or two to finish rolling out, and the same shit that was happening before the policy comes out will happen afterwards because of Valve's shitty, inconsistent standards and terrible history when it comes to this shit.
>They have already reversed most of the garbage from whatever happened that caused the tittypocalypse.
"Most" isn't good enough when it comes to allowing entire fucking games on the storefront. The games are already censored and Valve doesn't allow uncensor patches to be linked on any of their pages, but at least having a gimped version that can be
fixed is better than not having any game on the storefront at all. Its impossible for the developers to take in any revenue and that's a huge fucking hit to them.
>Yeah that happens with widespread policy decisions. Things get caught in limbo and nobody says anything until they can say something specific.
Widespread policy decisions that came in the wake of an attempt at mass censorship. You really think they'll bother to make a meaningful change? You think Valve got the message? You don't think they'll try to do something similar to this again? I'd be shocked if you did because the company is going to cancer in so many ways even unrelated to this debacle that I'd have trouble believing you. I won't bother listing them since this is isn't the thread for that but I am extremely skeptical right now and only expect further incredible fuckups, followed by some backpedaling while hoping people ignore the increasing collateral damage and sketchy shit going on behind the scenes.
>They can't roll out a perfect policy instantly when every region has different actual laws regarding what is and isn't allowed and valve does have to follow the law.
I would imagine in certain regions they just have to censor games. That's the fault of the countries in those cases. They're not going to "figure anything out" for those reasons. That's what will happen and it will be a waste of time.
They've been on my shitlist since late 2015/early 2016. Thank god I never fell for the Steam meme and wasted thousands of dollars like most whales on the games I got there like many people apparently already did.

The question is if they got the rights to use the art in other Nep related games or just the mobile game. or if they just bought the art outright, I confess I'm not very well versed on how game art is licensed
I'm sure they could still use the "concept" of Chaos CPUs but if they have to pay for the art again to use it in another game they probably won't.
It's more likely that if they use them at all they redo the art entirely but frequently "redone" art loses bits of the original because it's trying to emulate old art rather than just being different art of the same character.

I'm so glad they fixed her to have SP skill targeting for her regular attacks instead of needing to do very awkward hitbox manipulation, like MAGES. in the first game.
Whether I actually give Re;birth 2 time is up in the air. 3's improvements and rebalancing is making 1 more awkward to play. Neptune is Sega though. Compa and IF don't reflect reality.
>I suspect the Nep games reused so many assets because most of their development time was used elsewhere.
The most I'll concede is that it makes sense to have locations shared between games, such as the starting dungeons, to be reused. Not when you have multiple locations in the same game based on the same map and altered a little bit, like was constantly done in Drakengard 3. Enemy palette swaps don't bother me nearly as much, especially when it has memorable designs like the Tokimeki Sister, but it's not good when almost every enemy type in the game has multiple variants. Like if it was just for the dogoos it might actually be pretty amusing.
47a6ad No.15218745
>>15218730
Personally I'm fine with palette swaps. What bothers me is when you have two differently named enemies with different stats that look exactly the same, so you think you're taking on an easy fight only to get ground into the dirt. Those Ancient Dragons and some of the robot enemies were especially annoying, since they don't even get palette swaps to help you tell them apart.

That also. Particularly when you unlock altered dungeon plans such as for the Shampura dungeon in Re;birth 1, where they all look about the same but the monster plan change ones are even more deadly and often have similar names. Then there's the "god's chosen pawn" Shampura or whatever it was in one of the caves late game who hits like a truck. Still nothing quite beat the bullshittery I ran into recently in 3. In 1 you have the horsebird dogoo encounter. 3 one-ups it by having the same enemy in one of the maps but you get 7 of them at once, and they just gang-rape all your Neps if you cannot eliminate them immediately.

Cheers. Well next in line is more level ups before I go get fucked up by Uni. I just love back-to-back fights and so does this game.

Got Lowee opened up and one of the sword rumour events popped up. Uni was an item sink, as expected for what might as well be Re;birth 1 Black Heart fought solo. Everything else has been pretty smooth, even the first fight with HDD Neptune which was taking 0 damage when defense buffed. Am not looking forward to the Lowee sisters, and I want Uni in my friggin' party already instead of being a whiny tsun bitch. Cave too.
Speaking of difficulty spikes, I hit a ridiculous roadblock in Re;birth 3's Stella's Dungeon floor 1710, where a sealed calamity or something appeared. Twice. Both were loss thanks to them hitting for 9999 damage.

Did they just beat the fucking system? You can reuse dungeons as much as you want in a desert setting because there's only sand, caves, and underground lakes.

No you can't! It's really noticeable in Nep games when you have the same level used multiple times, even if they might open up a path or start from the other end. You can't do it just because they're all the same type of map.

Shares for the Share Queen!
6a01dc No.15236700
Turns out I didn't actually miss anything last time, but starting over was for the best anyway, even if it mean suffering through the CPU fights again. Hit another story flag for the terrible ending, and am now off to Leanbox. I knew I'd eventually get into Re;birth 2 to finish it but it probably won't see a second playthrough. Also Stella is being useless lately.

Damn. I think I only found 2 events and hit chapter 3. At least I don't recall one for Lastation. When does that one trigger? I'm gonna hate repeating chapter 2 so I might just throw on DLC cheat items for that part. Or leave it to NG+. Also Broccoli is great.

Actually never mind I think I'm golden. I actually posted further up about one encountered before hitting Lowee, and found the screenshots I took for all three, doing that was a good idea. Also I just love Nepgear's blank stare for those three events.
Also fuck this installment's obsession with consecutive fights. It's bad enough when CPUs show up after a regular monster but Warechu and Underling were total assholes challenging me twice in a row.

Do you mean as a fighter? Never used her in the first game, always stuck with the CPUs or IF

Just saved Uni and then got stuffed by Nepgear bravado. It's just fabulous when CFW Trick is a struggle and then you get locked into another CFW battle with just Nepgear and a shit Uni.
>>15237289
Never used her except just now in 2 but she has a good healing SP Skill and had EXE Drive when none of the party did. EXE is gold. I also like her Di GI Charat theme. Still, Cave is my absolute favourite alt.

Retranslation dude here. Some random flagged the files on Smega, killing the links. You have to provide a fair amount personal information to the striker when contesting things on there it seems so I just said "fuck it". It's being hosted elsewhere now, and here are the links:

Hey, don't ask me. All I know is that it did not come from anyone official, happily, so that means some other punter is screwing around. So I'll keep it up, but just to be safe it's always a good policy to keep backups of important packages for a rainy day.

I think it could be flagged by some butthurt faggot from newch after they tried to shill their website on /nep/ several times now.

They aren't that big, so I still have them too.

CFW Brave down, albeit a hollow victory. Mostly Nepgear chipping away while Uni propped her up with items and the occasional buff/debuff support. She'll be infinitely better now I can set her up correctly though. My present party is Nepgear, Uni, Ram, Cave, supported by friends of theirs. However now I'm in chapter 4 and can re-visit the Gamindustri Graveyard I'm concerned about saving the 4 CPUs, is there anything I need to watch out for? In particular, right now the shares are very unbalanced: >50% Leanbox, Planeptune 0%, and the rest weak. I won't progress just yet, there's plenty of sidequests I can do right now.
6a01dc No.15242761
OK never mind it looks like I just have a lot of share rearranging to do to get them back since I have Vert. Raising Lastation got me CC2 so I assume higher for Noire. Honestly despite the overall negative feel on RB2 and all its annoying bits I'm less invested in the bad end. Still curiosity is killing me.
Also bump since last one was accidentally sage. Not like there's much longer to limit though.

I'm on my second playthrough of Megadimension right now and every battle is far too easy. I want to max out all the lily ranks but still enjoy challenging battles. I tried unequipping all my equipment but I'm still one-shotting everything. Is there no hard mode like in Rebirth 1-3? Also how do you activate the harder enemies in each dungeon?

I only know the boring wiki summary and vaguely what other people have said in here so I'm expecting it to hurt. It won't have the same impact if I just watch it online, especially now the game is returning to being more cheery. Also Re;birth 1's early game isn't so bad if you know the one or two tricks, while Re;birth 2 loves to make annoying roadblocks, as I've been bitching about.
>Underling vs. Nepgear
>Uni vs. Nepgear after a mid-boss
>Rom and Ram after a mid-boss
>Underling and Warechu x2
>CFW Brave vs. Nepgear and a Uni who hasn't bothered to adjust her moveset since chapter 2
The last one bothers me the most since even in RB1 you usually got a chance to configure your party when new girls show up, as with MAGES.. I was definitely tempted a few times to switch the weaken foes plan on, or even resort to the key fragment.

I didn't have any problems in Re;Birth 2, but then again I fought a lot against dangerous foes.
I sometimes did that so much that I managed to beat them first instead and not storyline bosses.
