Some people are very much dependent on the game, and that's very hit and miss.
The best Let's Player, in my mind, is Chuggaaconroy, because every game he plays, he knows borderline everything about it, plays to 100% and explains it (and that means something when you're talking about his fucking Xenoblade run).
I'm not fond of Pokemon, but he does cool things with his runs. Like, every time he enters a new area, he'll flash on the side of the screen the encounter rates for every Pokemon, as well as the likelihood of the gender.
He'll do bios on every pokemon, their evolutions, moves, this and that. It's autistic, it's elaborate, but it makes his run stand out from all the other thousands of Pokemon runs.
Though my absolute favorite run of his, even moreso than Okami and Xenoblade, would be Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Lots of emotions, honestly. Made me laugh a lot, made me cry too. Lots of personal stories, lots of fun towns that he visited. And, of course, he detailed when to catch every single fish/bug/sea creature too, because he does that.
