I want to explore how platformers like Crash Bandicoot were a major step in the evolution of the genre when it comes to exploration. Why do games like Rayman and Donkey Kong Country place more emphasis on open worlds and collecting items? What mechanics did these games take further than classic Crash, and how did this change the perception of platformers in general?
