I've been friends with this femboy on Facebook for 4 years, we barely talked until I said fuarrrk it and started dating him. He told all about their past with drugs, rape, murder, past relationships (Online and IRL, both were abusive and led up to empty feelings and sadness for him), and mental and physical problems (ADHD, psychosis, depression, anxiety, cutting, lack of empathy, etc. I'll go more in detail to his past and stuff if you guys want more info). I tried to help him out with some of those things but I ended up making it worse and harder for the both of us. Eventually my family forced me to end the relationship with him; I left Facebook after a week mainly because it's a fucking hell hole site. Now I can't get over him or forget about him and I end up feeling depressed no matter how much I distract myself. I just want to be happy, I just want to be okay but I can't stop thinking about it. I know he was abusive but I really wanted to help him.

I guess to speak to this, I guess it'd be kind of normal to feel like that after putting so much time and effort into emotionally bonding with someone. I don't think it'd be healthy if you did get over it easily without someone that you really cared about. Take solace in the fact that a lot of people can't feel that deep of a connection with someone.
I'm not a mental health expert so I'm not going to try to diagnose this person. But the simplest answer is probably that they have a lot going on that hasn't settled mentally. Maybe they aren't able to self-reflect enough to be totally honest with themselves even maybe they're actually that out there but my guess is they're saying a lot of weird shit for attention.
My advice is whether you start keep talking to this person or not, I think you should work on creating barriers between yourself and people you're in a relationship with. If you don't hone your ability to say "I'm just not going to think about these problems that aren't directly mine" and do something for a few hours then you're going to burn yourself out. Whether it's another romantic relationship or something else. It doesn't mean you don't care you just have to be able to tune stuff out and give yourself a break for some period of time and reset.
