I feel that way about advanced geometry, unless you are an engineer, and also about long division (as calculators exist) but algebra is literally your ability to critically think while using mathematical logic, or logic in general, so as to solve a little puzzle/mystery. For example: how much are they taxing you? You use algebra to figure that out by comparing how much you make by the hour and then actually comparing it to how much you actually kept. It's not just simple subtraction as you will work, if by a wage, in such an uneven way that the time clock will throw off the maths, so you have to figure it out using variables, and that is what algebra is all about. It's about figuring out what you do not know. If I went an unkown speed and found myself at a location 1 mile away all i need to do is cross revernce the time it took to get there to find the variable, how fast i walked, road, or ridden, or flown I guess, crawled, etc, and so the variable is there as a mystery. Such things matter when you have to tel someone how long it will take you to get somehwere or other such rhetoric and so algebraic thinking is literally just being intelligent, baka. Long division though? Geometry? What are you buidling if it's geometry? Most people are not allowed to make their own items so it's useless. A carpenter does not even use geometry, he uses a pencil and a ruler just as any five year old could. A plumber I guess needs to know hydrolics, maybe that's to do with geometry, IDK because I'm not some shit blue collar worker as I personally hate rednecks, niggers, wiggers, and spics. But yeah... what even would long division be used for? Logistics? People throw food away and waste water so exact amounts are pretty stupid in reality, ergo long division can go fuck itself as you must resort to guesses, the algebra thing again, more so than get an exact remainder. Maybe if I were, again, some blue collar worker, I'd need to know it for use with all those electrical components, if it were pre-calculator days that is. Even then I don't get it. It's just adding and subtracting, calculating volts and amps and watts and the resistance. They're even numbers anyway. I like thinking in fractions and ratios and love pie charts and hate the numerical bullshit of pie as a circle having infinite points is just something silly to stress over. It nearly maeks me dislike pie charts actually. Now I'm hungry.
