The International Committee of the Red Cross has talked to the United States about the risks of delivering humanitarian aid to Venezuela without the approval of security forces loyal to President Nicolas Maduro, an official with the agency said Friday. Opposition leader Juan Guaido has said he will defy Maduro's refusal to allow aid by asking neighboring nations to help send in large convoys of medicine and food. Guaido has declared himself interim president of the country. The Trump administration has announced it is ready to deliver aid to Venezuela whenever and however is decided by Guaido.
Alexandra Boivin, ICRC delegation head for the United States and Canada, said the ICRC had told U.S. officials that whatever plans "they have to help the people of Venezuela, it has to be shielded from this political conversation." "It is obviously a very difficult conversation to have with the U.S.," she said. "We are there also to make clear the risks of the path being taken, the limits of our ability to operate in such an environment." On Friday, U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton tweeted that Washington would proceed with plans to send humanitarian aid to Venezuela.

Novartis CEO lauds Trump administration plan to overhaul rebates

"If you return those rebates to patients, so patients pay less out of pocket, I think that is something that makes a lot of sense and will correct a distortion in the marketplace."
In his State of the Union speech this week, U.S. President Donald Trump complained again that Americans pay more for drugs than people elsewhere. Narasimhan, who has labeled as "destructive" efforts to link U.S. prices to those in other countries, countered that this is only partially true. "There are situations where prices in the U.S. are certainly higher than the prices in Europe, but there are many situations, as well, where they are very comparable," he said. "It's difficult to make blanket statements, like this is always happening."
Some analyses, including one commissioned by Reuters in 2015, showed that U.S. prices for the top-20 selling medicines were three times higher than in Britain. Narasimhan acknowledged the industry and company reputational challenges stemming from anger over high prices, kickback scandals and last year's revelation that Novartis paid Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, $1.2 million. He said drugmakers, in some instances, boosted prices excessively or fell short on providing access and now had work ahead to regain the standing they once had, as the industry brought scientific advances like vaccines that saved billions of lives. "I would say, over the last 20 years, because of behaviors that the industry had - I would call them outlier events, (but) it's hard to call them outlier events, when there's enough of the outlier events - damaged the industry's reputation," Narasimhan said. "At least at Novartis, I think of it as the great journey of my time as CEO to try to get back to a different place from a reputation standpoint."
Last month, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced a plan that would end rebates now paid to PBMs and others and instead pass along savings to consumers covered by U.S. government health plans. Trump, in his State of the Union address on Tuesday, again called for lower U.S. prescription drug prices. PBMs, which administer drug benefits for employers and health plans, argue that they are passing sufficient savings to patients and contend that rebates help keep down insurance premiums. Narasimhan, echoing arguments of many large drugmakers, said the existing system obscures the true price of drugs and leaves patients on the hook, in the form of higher co-pays, or co-insurance payments.
'ZERO TRANSPARENCY' He noted that changes in the decades-old rebate system could eventually affect insurance plans offered by U.S. employers, potentially leading to premium hikes. "We have zero transparency into the billions we pay in rebates," the Novartis CEO said. "You could see some adjustment in premiums. But I think that's another area where we should get transparency."
Novartis, which had 2018 global sales of $51.9 billion and net profit of $12.6 billion, gets more than a third of its revenue in the United States. But despite all the talk about rising list prices, Narasimhan said since 2016 net prices for its prescription drugs fell about 1 percent. "At Novartis, we no longer see net price growth as a meaningful contributor," he said. Instead, the company is counting on recent and upcoming launches of new drugs to fuel 2019 growth of 4 percent to 6 percent, a forecast Narasimhan reiterated on Wednesday.

By supporting Saddam Hussein and the Taliban, Huawei was going against GWB's "Global War on Terrorism" plan which was supported by Obama too. Also Obama's 2008 opponent, Noname.
But not surprisingly, that strategy was backward. Saddam Hussein was fighting the Iran-Iraq war against Iran. The Taliban had given Russia a lot of trouble and were also against the mullahs in Iran, for some reason I don't remember. So GWB's strategy was one of strengthening the mullahs in Iran.

Here is part of what Q is, at least to me.
Q is a sort of handshake with a number of us. God knows how I ranted and raved enough on forums that I probably tripped every fucking keyword on Echelon/Prism.
What surprised me about Q was that someone in power not only knew this, but was planning to put an end to it and fix it. "Cool your tits, don't do anything crazy."
Which is, probably for a large number of us, more what Q is than anything else. They have all of the records and the proofs. We are waiting for all the connections we saw in the shadows to be brought into daylight.
Keep in mind that the average person has a more muted view of reality. It's like we are able to see in IR or UV bands. We can tell someone that something is hot, even how hot it will be without touching it or being near enough to feel it. Even when equipped with an IR camera to help them see what many of us can, inherently - it is still no true match. We can look and know the wiring is faulty and needs work. We can look and see signs of metal fatigue. We can see into a spectrum of the world that others can't, and they do not understand or particularly have reason to believe we know what we are talking about.
Until the thing they pick up freezes the shit out of their hand, the machinery fails just how we said it would, or the outlet catches fire just where we said the problem was. Or someone develops the tools to help them see what it is we see.
Metaphorically speaking.
Anyway - all of this has given me a lot of time to stop focusing on the problem and to focus a bit more on what the world would look like post-cabal and how society will change. Which is why I get caught up on the more esoteric and philosophical subjects. "Death by data" is a real thing. Sometimes having more information and being constantly plugged into the waterfall of events doesn't actually make people more aware or better informed. It often leads to confusion, delusion, and paralysis.

HYANNISPORT, Mass. - Police on Cape Cod have arrested three people accused of running a drug operation out of the Hyannisport summer home owned by the family of Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
The home at 31 Atlantic Ave., is located a short walk from the Kennedy Compound. Shriver is the sister of former Sen. Ted Kennedy and former President John F. Kennedy.
According to police, investigators identified two men originally from Cape Cod but currently living in New Bedford who were using the Shriver home as the “center of operations”, unbeknownst to the Shriver family, and burying the dangerous opioid on nearby Squaw Island Beach to later distribute to dealers and users. Police say the caretaker of the home was responsible for allowing the men access to the residence for their operation.
“The Shrivers had zero knowledge of anything going on at house and were not present during the investigation,” Barnstable Deputy Police Chief Sean Balcom said in an email to FOX25. “It's a summer house.”
Physical and video surveillance by detectives also captured the men making their drug transactions on nearby Eugenia Fortes Beach, police said.
Investigators followed Troy Monteiro, 29, and his girlfriend and alleged driver Ariel Price-Perry, 26, from their New Bedford apartment to Hyannisport. Once there, Monteiro allegedly ran and attempted to retrieve 200 grams of fentanyl he had hidden on the beach, with a street value of $40,000.
Detectives arrested Monteiro after a brief foot chase, charging him with two counts of trafficking fentanyl and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act. Price-Perry was arrested and charged with conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act and impeding a police investigation for allegedly attempting to destroy evidence as Monteiro was being arrested.
A short time later, police arrested Trevor Rose, 29, at the Shriver home to be charged with one count of trafficking fentanyl and one count of possession of cocaine.
After the arrests, police searched the Atlantic Avenue home and found fentanyl processing equipment including scales, package material and diluting agents. In New Bedford, they found additional fentanyl and $20,000 in cash.
All three suspects were arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Thursday.
The caretaker, whose name was not released, had not been charged by Thursday.
“The investigation is ongoing as far as the caretaker and other co-conspirators,” Balcom said.
The Atlantic Avenue home is currently owned by an LLC managed by Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver’s son, Bobby Shriver.
FOX25 was not able to reach a representative of the Shriver family for comment.
Attorneys representing the three suspects did not return FOX25’s calls after the arraignments Thursday afternoon.

According to the rules of admission for the Texas Bar, an applicant must be of “Good Moral Character and Fitness.”[3] The applicable rule states:
Good moral character is a functional assessment of character and fitness of a prospective lawyer. The purpose of requiring an Applicant to possess present good moral character is to exclude from the practice of law those persons possessing character traits that are likely to result in injury to future clients, in the obstruction of the administration of justice, or in a violation of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. These character traits usually involve either dishonesty or lack of trustworthiness in carrying out responsibilities.[4]

Frankly, though, I am not looking for a job - I am looking for capital means to start up my own thing. I got kind of pissy with my last employer for being retarded. When you have been raised in manufacturing from birth and have 8 years of military experience, you kind of have an idea of what is and isn't going to work in a factory, even though you don't have a degree or a history of spreadsheet analytics to show you're a manage-by-accounting type.
What it boils down to is I have the mindset of a business owner and like to be involved at a level way higher than what my background allows me to interview for, and I can't stand retarded people who either waited or bought their way into management.
So… I'm kind of floating. I can break down QM, any physics subject imaginable, and even hold my own in the medical field. Botany to aerospace and psychology to math theory… But my family has been destroyed and parted out, largely. That may have been more by design than I realize, given the weight my father's name carried in a small but important field… But that's delusional on my part.
That, and I get extremely easily distracted. I feel a bit like Disogenes, at times. "The only thing I am good at doing is telling others what to do, so assign me to someone who needs a master."

It is not the job of a free press to hold people in power accountable. The job is more narrow than the NYT Publisher wishes to have it.
We elect representatives whose role, in the framework of governance in the Constitution and in the traditions of the Congressional, Judicial, and Executive branches of government. Ultimately it is the People who hold those in power accountable. Because they are accountable to the People.
Yes, an informed electorate is essential for a moral and attentive society to govern itself well. And so the role of the free press, as a subset of the free populace, is to gather information, to pursuit the truth, and to discern right from wrong, good from bad, uprightness from evil.
What the Publisher of the NYT misses, rather oblviously, is that his publication has taken sides against the role of the free press: rather than inform it disinforms.
And so it goes. Criticizing the NYT is now supposedly tantamount to threatening the role of the free press and the role of freedom of expression in the wider society.
In short, the Publisher has in head up his arse. IMHO.
