Evidence That the `Dark Comet’ 1998 KY26 Might Be the Failed Soviet Spacecraft Phobos 1

The first recognized interstellar object 1I/`Oumuamua showed non-gravitational acceleration away from the Sun which scaled inversely with heliocentric distance squared (as inferred here).
It also had a disk-like shape based on the periodic reflection of sunlight from its surface (as deduced here). This led me to propose that it may be a technologically-produced object, pushed by sunlight (as discussed here).
Three years after the discovery of 1I/`Oumuamua, its discovery telescope Pan-STARRS in Hawaii detected another object, labeled 2020-SO, which was definitely pushed by reflecting sunlight.
This one was later identified as the upper stage of the Surveyor 2 mission to the Moon, launched by NASA in 1966 (as reviewed here). In view of 2020-SO, my proposed interpretation of 1I/`Oumuamua appears completely reasonable.
It appeared as a reasonable conjecture for me and my 160,615 followers here, but it was regarded as a heretic point of view by comet experts.
Comet experts insist that 1I/`Oumuamua is a dark comet, namely an iceberg whose invisible outgassing pushes it like a rocket.
The only problem with their interpretation is that no gas or dust was detected around 1I/`Oumuamua, even after deep observations by the Spitzer Space Telescope (as concluded here).
This case is a remarkable display of how dogmatic scientists prefer to promote a speculative conjecture that violates some observational data while bluntly dismissing an alternative interpretation that is consistent with all available data.
The comet experts explain the anomalies of 1I/`Oumuamua by appealing to invisible constituents. Of course, the great attraction of their standpoint is that it denies evidence for the possible existence of an alien space agency that may have manufactured 1I/`Oumuamua similarly NASA’s production of 2020-SO.
To substantiate their assertion, the same comet experts published a recent paper in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (accessible here) that lists dark comets which are gravitationally bound to the Solar System.
Most of these objects show a non-gravitational acceleration that is many orders of magnitude smaller than that of 1I/`Oumuamua. Obviously, very weak accelerations require very low levels of outgassing, making them too rarefied and faint to be detected through the scattering of sunlight. Nevertheless, even this list of dark comets may include spacecraft.

Democrat Mary Peltola Accused of Abusive Behavior, Vulgar Outbursts in Blockbuster Story

Alaska Democrat Senate candidate Mary Peltola was the subject of a devastating New York Times profile on Wednesday, September 23which described a pattern of angry outbursts, physical abuse, and slurs for years while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Peltola is now running against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan in November in a contest polling shows continues to be close.
According to the explosive story, former aides describe “angry and profane outbursts.” In one instance she is said to have shoved an aide according to a former staffer who was present and two others who were told about it at the time.Additionally, four former staff members said they directly heard her use the word “faggot” over the years, even about her own staff members, which her campaign has denied. She also used the word “retarded,” according to former aides and text messages viewed by the newspaper.(sounds like anons)
The report talked to a total of nine former staffers who were granted anonymity.
Her office amassed one of the highest turnover rates in Congress during her term, and she has missed hundreds of votes throughout her time in elected office.
The campaign issued a statement in response to the story, attributing her behavior to personal tragedy. Peltola’s mother and husband died in 2023:
“At the time of their passing, Mary was parenting kids through their own grief, serving full-time in the U.S. House of Representatives thousands of miles from home, and running a competitive re-election campaign — all while shouldering the enormous burden of grief,” said spokesman Harry Child. “Like any person who has gone through multiple personal tragedies in the span of a few months, Mary sometimes struggled to deal with her grief.”
The report states Peltola shoved a male staffer in her office over a missing meeting memo, “causing him to stumble backward, according to a person who was there and two others who heard about the incident soon after, as well as text messages sent at the time.” The unnamed aide departed the office soon after.
In another instance, Peltola wrote, “FUCK THOSE BITCHES” about Planned Parenthood after her vote on a defense bill. “I hope Planned Parenthood knows that if we don’t win it’s more their loss than ours,” she added.
She also wrote in a text referring to a woman serving on the board of a local Planned Parenthood chapter, “I hope she dies of a botched abortion.” The pro-abortion organization has not endorsed her 2026 campaign.
Peltola additionally texted, “Fuck that retard” after a selfie photo was posted by a commercial fisheries executive with the former representative. She has attempted to make local fishing interests a key part of her campaign despite not sponsoring a single bill related to fishing during her one term in Congress.
Low morale has also plagued the campaign, the report said, leading to an effort from Washington Democrats to overhaul the effort, firing two long-time aides and demoting her chief of staff.
Senate Leadership Fund Executive Director Alex Latcham said in a statement on the story, “Mary Peltola’s closest aides describe a routine history of physical violence, explosive anger, and utter disdain for Alaskans, which makes her entirely unfit for the U.S. Senate. Peltola’s deeply offensive and disturbing comments do not represent the Alaska way and she must publicly apologize to her staff and the people of Alaska.”

In a new paper that I co-authored with the brilliant Adam Hibberd and Adam Crowl (posted here), we show that one of these `dark comets’, labeled 1998 KY26, shows characteristics that coincide with the failed Soviet spacecraft Phobos 1, which was launched in July 1988 and suffered a failure two months later due to a faulty computer command.
1998 KY26 was observed by a number of ground-based telescopes, and the results were reported in a 2025 Nature Communication paper (accessible here).
Interestingly, this so-called `dark comet’ was observed to be shiny with a very high reflectance (albedo) of 52% (±8%). Its inferred size of 11 (±2) meters is comparable to that of a spacecraft.
In addition, it exhibits an exceedingly short rotation period of 5.35 minutes which implies a sturdy monolithic object. A rubble pile asteroid would break up under the associated centrifugal force.
The similarity of the orbit of 1998 KY26 to the orbit of the lost Phobos 1 spacecraft suggests that the two objects are the same.
In analogy with 1I/`Oumuamua, the presence of a significant nongravitational acceleration with no detectable shedding of gas or dust, suggests that 1998 KY26 is pushed by solar radiation pressure as expected for the Phobos 1 spacecraft.
Our new paper, posted here, analyzes the photometry and astrometry of 1998 KY26 to substantiate the feasibility of the above association with Phobos 1.
We use a simple three-dimensional model of the Phobos 1 spacecraft to demonstrate compelling agreement with eight light curves of 1998 KY26.
We also show that solar radiation pressure on a cylinder plus solar panels provides matches to the non-gravitational acceleration of 1998 KY26 with significant reductions in residuals (down to 11%) with respect to 260 astrometric and radar measurements.
These results add strong weight to the Phobos 1 hypothesis, and we find no clear contradictory evidence. The spin pole in Ecliptic J2000 coordinates, calculated from photometry based on the Phobos 1 assumption, is (𝜆, 𝛽) = (151, 11) degrees.
The nature of 1998 KY26 is not just an academic question. The Japanese Aerospace eXploration Agency (JAXA) plans to land the spacecraft Hayabusa2 on this object in July 2031.
In its original mission, Hayabusa2 explored the 900-meter-diameter asteroid 162173 Ryugu in 2018, returning asteroid samples to Earth in 2020. With fuel remaining, the spacecraft was sent on an extended mission until 2031, when it is set to encounter 1998 KY26.
This will be the first time a space mission encounters a tiny object on the size scale of 10-meters. Mainstream astronomers hope that this landing will reveal the nature of invisible outgassing from a dark comet.
Our prediction is that instead of an iceberg, Hayabusa 2’s cameras will reveal the label `Made in the U.S.S.R.’
If so, this would be a teaching moment to comet experts. But will these dogmatists admit that they may have gotten it wrong also for `1I/Oumuamua? I am not sure at all. As Max Planck observed: “Science advances one funeral at a time.”

The FEAR of AI taking over and destroying the world, is a joke.
AI is going to help make incredible strides in technology, medicine and a whole lot of other things.
But it’s still limited in so many ways.
It’s a great research tool if you know how to ask the right questions, because it helps you find the information you’re looking for, so much faster.
But every time I research with AI, I have to help educate it because at this time, I have far more knowledge on the subject and AI has a much harder time trying to decipher “motive,” unless you hold its hand through the process.
Here’s an example from this morning.
Me:
“Here’s what reinforces my argument that the CIA was “directly” involved in drug trafficking.
Almost all of these players involved in drug trafficking had CIA connections. They were “proxies” for the CIA to raise off the books cash for operations and corruption in order to claim no direct involvement.
The CIA specialized in offshore banking and shell companies to hide their “illegal” crimes from Congress. BCCI was one of the biggest examples.
That bank was a drug traffickers paradise for laundering money and it’s not a surprise that the CIA had accounts there and several Bush family members were involved.”
AI response:

It’s not a danger to civilization.

‘Constitutional Crisis?’ Political World Floored by Trump WH Denying Press Access Despite Court Order. KEK

President Donald Trump shocked the political and media worlds on Thursday when reporters for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico were denied access to the White House again despite a judge’s order.
Judge Timothy Kelly, whom Trump nominated to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 2017, blocked the president’s ban of the outlets in a Wednesday evening ruling. He orderedthe White House to restore access to the outlets, though that did not happen on Thursday morning.
All three news outlets reported that their credentials were not restored and they were still barred from the White House grounds, a repeat experience after the outlets reported the same happened on Saturday.
The journalists were turned away on Thursday just as Trump was getting ready to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House.
CNN, MS NOW, and Politico petitioned for an emergency hearing over the ongoing ban, which they have said is a “direct assault” on press freedoms. Trump has meanwhile accused the outlets of publishing “fake news” about him.
Critics asked whether we are in a “Constitutional crisis” and others slammed the president for defying the court’s order while they wondered what will happen next in this increasingly tense standoff.
“The WH has generally avoided defying court orders but appears to have done just that this morning,” veteran journalist Brit Hume wrote on X in reaction to the White House committing to its media ban.
“When do we start calling this a Constitutional crisis?” media reporter Edmund Lee asked.
Some also pointed to the irony that the press ban comes amid a visit from the leader of a communist country. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins noted Chinese state media was present on Thursday morning while American journalists were booted.
