family whose young daughter was allegedly turned into AI-generated child sexual abuse material has sued xAI, opening another front in a widening legal fight over whether the company behind Grok is answerable for what its image tools produce.
The complaint, filed July 23, 2026 in federal court in Little Rock, Arkansas by the Potts Law Firm, alleges that authentic photographs of the child were used to generate sexually explicit images depicting her, and that xAI’s technology helped create and circulate them. It names three of Elon Musk’s companies, including http://X.AI Corp. and X Corp., and singles out Grok’s “Spicy” and “Unhinged” modes, which the firm says let the chatbot produce explicit images and audio without safety filters. The suit seeks damages for emotional distress and privacy violations
