This is not entirely true. The thing is you have 3 sections you have North America you have Central America and of course South America.
This is where not one of these calls themselves American… as like their country like an ethnicity is they had one. You are not a United Staten this does not exist so in the context of people yes you are an American. To be extremely proper yes American Citizens should be Citizen of the United States. However in contextual use this does not work out like other countries.
So due to the fact Canada does not say they are American Mexico does not say they are American it had become accepted in society that you are or can be American if part of the United States.
This again no country in any areas of the Americas is calling it self this besides the US.
So also the flag is noted as this being called this as well.
I was going to cite something but it seems wrong in other areas below is all. So I decided to wait is all this is however correct.
This is similar to the English flag although it is in the UK area and there is mult flags it is commonly accepted that UK 🇬🇧 the English flag they have an older one on this now this is the reality. They do have flags for Scottish and Irish and even other areas however British flags is widely accepted as the UK flag or English flag in modern times. It is only in older areas that you run into that they have other flags to represent these areas that did not always have the same boundaries believe or not Robert the Bruce sacked York which is firmly in English Hands at the time this is what really lead to the actual truce and peace talks when this was done they fallowed not long after.
This is where it again is not the same as it is in modern times because during these times they had their one identified that is not as it was now. This also is funny as it is accepted the Robert was the ruler over the Irish with the Scottish at this time when this was going on as they fought with him against the English is all.
Anyways this is just interesting in the terms of history is all.
So this is just kinda modern vs not modern contextual themes.
