I still don't get what Trump is trying to accomplish here. First of all, broadcast licenses are for over the air broadcast. I do not think license renewal denial would stop them on the internet.

Most licenses are granted to individual stations. Stantions usually belong to a group, like Nexstar, Sinclair, Tegna, Hearst, etc. They own stations with different affiliations within the group.

Networks do own a few stations themselves and these could be subject to broadcast license denial.

(Wiki, I know and info may be out of date but informs the process)-

NBC has 12

..and so on. Since most network owned stations are in the bigger markets, that would hurt a little to lose a broadcast license.

Stations are supposed to broadcast for the public good. Given the current propaganda by the big three networks, that's not a good. If they are paid to propagandize, well, you could see a lot of individual affiliates scrambling for alternative programming.

The sad truth is that most people now use internet and I'm not sure how a broadcast license denial (over the air) would affect that.

83,000 Bags of Frozen Shrimp Recalled for Potential Radioactive Contamination

More than 83,000 bags of frozen raw shrimp have been recalled after potentially being exposed to cesium-137.

Batches of shrimp sold in more than a dozen states are the latest in a series of recalls for potential radioactive contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Dec. 19.

The Washington-based company Direct Source Seafood LLC recalled more than 83,000 bags of frozen raw shrimp manufactured in Indonesia over concerns that the products may have been "prepared, packed, or held under conditions" that exposed them to low levels of cesium-137, according to the notice.

Cesium-137, or Cs-137, is the most common radioactive form of the chemical element cesium, created by the process of nuclear fission.

According to the FDA, traces of the radioisotope are widespread in the environment and can reach higher levels in water or food that have been grown, raised, or produced in areas affected by contamination.

"The primary health effect of concern following longer term, repeated low dose exposure (e.g., through consumption of contaminated food or water over time) is an elevated risk of cancer, resulting from damage to DNA within living cells of the body," the agency said.

The recalled Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro brand shrimp products were sold in one- and two-pounds bags, respectively.

The one-pound bags were sold at select Price Chopper locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont after July 11.

The recalled two-pound bags were sold at Jewel-Osco, Albertsons, Safeway, and Lucky Supermarkets retailers in Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming on or after June 30.

The FDA advises consumers to avoid eating the affected shrimp and to dispose of it or return it for a full refund.

The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS has reignited the debate about its possible origin after a post by user 3I/ATLAS Whistle Blower on the social network X, who claimed that the mysterious celestial body has several structures that revolve around it, a rare feature.

As he explained, new images captured by amateur astronomer Rays Astrophotography would show at least "five physical structures" surrounding the coma, the bright and diffuse cloud that surrounds the nucleus of 3I/ATLAS.

He also noted that he had "discussed this before with data and evidence," and that these features are again seen in his most recent observations.

Last month, 3I/ATLAS Whistle Blower claimed to have detected the presence of "five perfectly defined dust rings rotating about 150,000 kilometers around the core" of 3I/ATLAS.

This new evidence has generated speculation and renewed the interest of the astronomical community in the true nature of this stellar object. However, so far, neither the claims of 3I/ATLAS Whistle Blower nor those of other users have been verified by official scientific sources.

On the other hand, Avi Loeb, an astrophysicist at Harvard University, suggested in a recent publication that the antitail of 3I/ATLAS would be composed of "a swarm of objects", which would have a total surface area much larger than that of the interstellar object, even if together their mass was only a small part of the mass of said celestial body.

According to Loeb, as long as these objects do not suffer changes in velocity caused by the loss of material due to solar heat, they should maintain "an antitail geometry," which always points toward the Sun relative to 3I/ATLAS and aligns with its position when it reaches the closest point to our star.

Zooming in on a space visitor

Last Friday, 3I/ATLAS reached its closest point to Earth, at a distance of approximately 270 million kilometers, although it was located on the other side of the Sun.

As Loeb explained, on this occasion the object "did not perform maneuvers or show unusual activity" that would support the idea that it is an extraterrestrial spacecraft, as he himself has raised on other occasions.

Instead, the body continued its trajectory unchanged. Even so, the scientist pointed out that it is most likely that 3I/ATLAS is a comet of natural origin, although he stressed that it still has certain anomalies.

When water lingers on farmland, the consequences often ripple outward, resulting in crop losses, changes in soil health, and shifting carbon storage. In the rolling landscape of central Iowa’s South Fork watershed, these challenges are a daily reality for farmers, researchers, and crop insurance companies.

To address these concerns, scientists at the U.S. Department of Agriculture–Agriculture Research Service’s (USDA–ARS) National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE) are partnering with NASA’s OPERA project.

Using OPERA’s Dynamic Surface Water Extent (DSWx) and Surface Disturbance (DIST) product suites, USDA–NLAE researchers began the process of identifying depressions where water consistently ponds across fields – see Figure 2.

These sites are often more than nuisance puddles; they signal areas of reduced yield, risk for crop mortality, and hotspots for carbon and nutrient accumulation.

By combining OPERA’s cloud-free, high-resolution mosaics with field-based measurements from USDA and university partners, the joint OPERA-NLAE team is producing actionable maps that pinpoint waterlogged zones – see Figure 3. Farmers can use these maps to improve soil health and guide land-management decisions.

The OPERA products also support broader watershed management. Analyses of river migration, oxbow lake formation, and storm damage from powerful Midwestern derecho events show how OPERA data extend beyond field plots to larger areas.

By detecting both persistent inundation and shifts in vegetation health, DSWx and DIST together provide synergistic information identifying areas where improved tile drainage may result in better crop health and increased yields.

This approach can also be used to mitigate topsoil erosion and nutrient transport to control the development of harmful algal blooms and the occurrence of anoxic zones with implications far beyond the Mississippi Delta.

Conclusion

The use of OPERA data by USDA–ARS to map and monitor crop health in the Midwest United States highlights how this vital data product bridges the gap between Earth science and agricultural resilience.

The outcome of this collaboration underscores OPERA’s mission – translating cutting-edge satellite observations into usable tools that support farmers, improve soil and water conservation, and strengthen the resilience of U.S. agriculture.

This collaboration signifies the mandate of OPERA as an SNWG solution provider to fulfill the observation needs of federal users.
