Trump issues hard October 1 deadline for foreign companies: build U.S. factories or face crushing tariffs up to 100% on pharmaceuticals, 50% on kitchen cabinets, 30% on trucks and furniture
President Trump just made an announcement that will shake up global manufacturing. Foreign companies, including Taiwan Semiconductor, are now under pressure. Build factories in the U.S. or face massive tariffs. October 1 is the deadline.
For pharmaceuticals, this is huge. A 100 percent tariff on any branded or patented drug entering the U.S. unless the company is building a plant here. Only projects already started or under construction are safe. On paper, it sounds like supply chain security. COVID showed how dependent America is on foreign factories for critical medicine. In reality, it is a giant shake-up. Multinationals now have to spend hundreds of millions building plants or risk losing access to the largest market in the world.
It does not stop at drugs. Upholstered furniture will face a 30 percent tariff. Kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities will see 50 percent. Heavy trucks are at 30 percent. Companies that built decades of global supply chains have to rethink everything. Moving production is expensive and slow. Some things cannot be moved quickly.

Congressman Burlison on UAPs, government transparency, Joplin manufacturing

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - Congressman Eric Burlison was in Joplin on Friday as part of a national manufacturing tour.
Burlison represents Missouri's 7th congressional district, including Jasper County.
Following a tour of some local companies, he met with students and community leaders for lunch at Missouri Southern State University.
Birlison chairs the House Subcommittee on economic growth, energy police and regulatory affairs. He says Joplin's manufacturing sector plays a vital role in U.S. security.
Joplin companies manufacture many things, including components for defense systems like Israel's Iron Dome.
While the media was invited to interview Burlison, KOAM's Blake Gulley took some extra time with the Congressman to discuss other initiatives he's a part of and leading, including efforts for government transparency.
They spoke about government agencies hiding funding, unknown technology and more, including UAPs.
