This will be Netanyahu's fourth White House visit since Trump returned to office in January. Despite the red carpet constantly being rolled out for him in Washington, he faces growing international isolation, especially in Europe.
During his last Friday speech before the UN General Assembly in New York, he lashed out at the leaders of France, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and other countries for "unconditionally" recognizing a Palestinian state. At the same time he thanked America for its firm pro-Israel stance.
But Trump is optimistic that a deal with Hamas to secure the release of all hostages can be salvaged. He told Reuters on Sunday that he hopes to gain Netanyahu's support for a peace framework that would end the conflict in Gaza. That means a tight market that is keeping planes full and boosting revenue.
Lufthansa Group said it expected “significantly increased profitability” by the end of the decade and was readying what it called the largest fleet modernization in the company’s history that would add more than 230 new aircraft by 2030, including 100 long-haul aircraft.
The Lufthansa Group is a globally operating aviation group that includes network airlines, point-to-point airline Eurowings and service companies. It had 101,709 employees in 2024 and generated revenue of 37.6 billion euros ($44 billion).

Calm, cool, and collected, Mohamed explained to me that Jews in Israel would be treated fairly once the region is governed by an Islamic caliphate. He spoke about the superiority of Islamic law, expressed sympathy and even support for groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, equated the hostages with prisoners in Israel who’ve been found guilty of crimes like rape and murder, and suggested that it was Israel – not Hamas – that was to blame for the war.
The thing is – Mohamad isn’t an outlier. There are thousands of young men and women living among us who share the same extremist beliefs – and who, over time, will shape our societies, our institutions, our culture, and the very DNA of our countries. We cannot sit by and hope these people will change, or assume they’ll grow out of it. They won’t. Mohamad and his peers will only become more wedded to their beliefs – and more dangerous. In this moment, I don’t have an answer or strategy to counter this threat – but I know my interaction with Mohamed scared the shit out of me. Not because I feared for my safety – but because I feared for my country – and my people.”

Ontario-based Algoma Steel Group Inc. will receive $500 million in federal and provincial loan assistance to help reorient its business to cope with the impact of U.S. tariffs.
Ottawa’s $400 million in financial assistance will come from the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan program. The Ontario government will also provide $100 million to the Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.-based company.
The federal government said in a statement the impact of U.S. tariffs on the steel sector is “profound.”
Ottawa introduced the $10-billion financing program in March to support companies affected by tariffs.
The loans are to help Algoma Steel continue operations, limit disruption to its workforce and move to a business model that isn’t as reliant on the U.S.
Algoma CEO Michael Garcia said in a release that U.S. President Donald Trump’s ongoing 50 percent steel tariffs have effectively closed the American market to Canadian steel. Continue…

The federal government has added the Bishnoi Gang to its list of terrorist entities, citing its involvement in criminal and violent acts such as murder and extortion.
“Specific communities have been targeted for terror, violence and intimidation by the Bishnoi Gang,” Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said in a Sept. 29 statement.
His department said the group has been involved in shootings and arsons and has been most active in areas of Canada that have significant South Asian communities.
“The Bishnoi Gang creates a climate of insecurity for South Asian Canadians as it targets them, their prominent community members, their businesses, as well as cultural figures within the community,” Public Safety Canada says in its official terrorist listing.
The group is named after its leader and founder Lawrence Bishnoi, who is said to run the sprawling criminal network while being behind bars since 2015. The gang has been linked to high-profile shootings and assassinations in India, including that of local politician Baba Siddique and movie and music stars.
