Linda Yaccarino’s resignation from X as chief executive marked the end of a high-pressure — and at times emotional — two-year stint that insiders described asriddled with stress, conflict and power struggles, according to a report.

At times, Yaccarino was reportedly tearful in the office, worn down by the overwhelming demands of working under Elon Musk and the increasing pressure surrounding her role, the Financial Times reported over the weekend.

Yaccarino had claimed in an interview just three weeks before stepping down that “I’m the CEO of X and my boss remains the same.”

But last Wednesday she announced her departure,citing X’s merger with Musk’s AI venture xAI as a turning point and calling it a “new chapter” for the company.

Multiple people who worked with both Yaccarino and Musk saidthe two were fundamentally mismatched.

“Sheryl [Sandberg] found the rhythm with Mark [Zuckerberg]. Linda couldn’t find the rhythm with Elon,” one source told FT, referring to the former chief operating officer of Meta’s relationship with the CEO.

Their contrasting styles — Yaccarino’s polished advertising world background versus Musk’s unfiltered, hands-on leadership — clashed repeatedly.

“Elon calls all the shots,” an advertising executive who knows both Yaccarino and Musk told FT.

“She tried to ride the tiger but was thrown off.”

Another person added, “He did not dig her style as a shiny, flashy Madison Avenue executive. He wants to have an authentic conversation and not be bullsh–ted.”

A breaking point reportedly came early last year, when Yaccarino helped secure a content deal with former CNN anchor Don Lemon.

The arrangement backfired after Lemon conducted a contentious interview with Musk, asking if he used drugs. Musk canceled the deal, and Lemon is now suing for breach of contract.

The internal tension and lack of authority reportedly took an emotional toll. Multiple people who worked with Yaccarino said she was “at times being tearful in the office.”

One former colleague told FT: “She lasted two years in a job that would have crushed most people in two weeks.”

Though she managed to lure back some major advertisers like Apple, Google and Verizon, many in the industry questioned the sustainability and strategy behind the return.

“To her credit, she did get advertisers back to X,” one longtime executive told FT.“She did it with a gun, but they came back.”

Another added,“They did not return voluntarily or happily.”Others criticized the platform’s underperformance.

“Many clients don’t advertise on X, not because of the content, but because it does not perform very well,” one executive told FT.

Sensor Tower reported some renewed ad strength, and Emarketer projected a revenue increase to $2.3 billion in 2025 — still far below the $4.1 billion in global sales before Musk’s takeover.

The Post has sought comment from X, Yaccarino and Musk.

Yaccarino’s priorities sometimes diverged from Musk’s, particularly around child safety— a concern she reportedly believed Musk was not focused on enough, according to FT.

She ultimately informed a small circle ahead of time about her resignation, which happened to coincide with xAI’s chatbot Grok publishing antisemitic content, FT reported. X staff said the two events were unrelated.

Yaccarino’s challenges began as soon as she took the job in 2023, leaving NBCUniversal to help repair the damage Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the platform had inflicted on advertiser relations.

Financial control was another battleground. Musk brought in Mahmoud Reza Banki as CFO, who reported directly to Musk and bypassed Yaccarino.

Their relationship grew strained, especially when Banki redirected funds away from creator and ad-tech investments — areas Yaccarino viewed as crucial, according to FT.

Publicly, Yaccarino remained loyal to Musk, but insiders suggested her style never resonated with him.Her deep ties to Trump, however, remain intact, according to the FT.

At every scale, our Universe is composed of the same particles. This Universe of particles is at the heart of the International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC), which kicks off its 39th edition on Monday, 14 July.

The astroparticle specialists who meet there, like the physicists working on experiments at CERN, share a desire to understand our Universe by studying its fundamental constituents.

A special event will take place as part of the conference. The general public and the scientific community are invited to Science Gateway on 19 July to meet Nobel Prize winners and astronauts at the Stellar soirée.

Samuel Ting, winner of the 1976 Nobel Prize in Physics, will present AMS, the dark matter detector mounted on the International Space Station.

Barry Barish, winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics, will look back on the first detection of gravitational waves in 2015, a real leap forward for contemporary science.

Takaaki Kajita, winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics, will talk about neutrinos, the mysterious and elusive particles that pervade our Universe.

Michel Mayor, winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics, will explain the path that led to the discovery of exoplanets.

He will be sharing the stage with Meganne Christian, a reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), who was selected at the same time as Slawosz Uznański, who has just returned from space.

In this discussion, Meganne Christian and Michel Mayor will describe their respective journeys to the Moon and the Nobel Prize.

Three other ESA Astronauts will also share their experiences: Paolo Nespoli, who spent more than 300 days on board the International Space Station; Matthias Maurer, who will be talking about exploration of the Moon; and Luca Parmitano, who will be speaking live from the NASA Space Center in Houston and has made four spacewalks to perform maintenance on the AMS experiment.

The House minority leader and now self-styled tough guy, New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, poses with a baseball bat to show how dangerous he is in opposing Trump’s budget bill.

Bests example of how the left has lost its mind:

Jeffries harangued Congress for eight hours; New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker went on for 25 — both to no effect.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hit the rally trail in private jets to rail about oligarchs, omitting that the ultra-rich are not only mostly leftists but also the funders of the Democratic Party.

Sometimes the Democrats in Congress make bizarre videos, featuring profanity like f—k or s—t. On other occasions, they scream and interrupt Congress.

Some representatives now confess that they’re being pressured by their constituents to take a bullet for the cause.

The racialist Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett — sometimes playing the prep-school prima donna, sometimes modulating her accent to pass as the authentic inner-city activist — gains headlines for monotonously ranting about old white men.

On left-wing social media, the assassin Luigi Mangione remains a heartthrob for murdering a health-care executive, replacing the Tsarnaev brothers as the hot new left-wing killer.He, too, might soon end up with a cover photo on Rolling Stone.

The left-wing internet mob grotesquely claims children lost to the recent flash flood in Texas deserved their fate.

They advance three sick reasons for their ghoulishness. Texas Christians supported the MAGA agenda and thus met a just fate. Or, as red-state Texans, they were deservedly collateral damage to DOGE’s bureaucratic reductions. Astronomers discover monster exoplanet hiding in 'stellar fog' around young star

Astronomers have spotted a monster-sized planet that could be up to ten times the size of Jupiter emerging from the stellar fog surrounding a young star.

Prior observations of the roughly 13 million-year-old star MP Mus (also known as PDS 66) located around 280 light-years away had failed to distinguish features in the swirling cloud of gas and dust, or protoplanetary disk, that surrounds it.

However, when astronomers reexamined the apparently featureless protoplanetary disk of this star using combined data from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) Gaia mission, they found it may not be quite so lonely after all.

The team detected a huge gas giant dwelling in the protoplanetary disk of MP Mus, which had been previously hidden.

This represents the first time Gaia has spotted an extrasolar planet or "exoplanet" sitting in a protoplanetary disk, the disks of material around young stars that birth planets.

Such detections have typically been tough due to interference from the gas and dust of the protoplanetary disk. Until now, astronomers have only made three strong detections of planets within protoplanetary disks.

This new finding could help astronomers hunt more recently formed planets around infant stars.

Young exoplanets get into the groove

Planets form within protoplanetary disks through a process called core accretion, when larger and larger particles stick together via gravity, forming planetesimals, asteroids, and eventually planets.

As material from the protoplanetary disk is swallowed up by this process, the planets created begin to carve channels in the disk, akin to the grooves in a vinyl record.

When this team initially observed the protoplanetary disk around MP Mus in 2023 with ALMA, these were the kind of structures they had expected to see. Structures that were missing.

"We first observed this star at the time when we learned that most discs have rings and gaps, and I was hoping to find features around MP Mus that could hint at the presence of a planet or planets," team leader Álvaro Ribas from Cambridge's Institute of Astronomy said in a statement.

What the team found instead was a seemingly lonely star surrounded by a featureless disk of gas and dust that had none of the hallmarks of forming planets.

"Our earlier observations showed a boring, flat disc," Ribas said. "But this seemed odd to us, since the disc is between seven and ten million years old.

"In a disc of that age, we would expect to see some evidence of planet formation."

With their curiosity piqued, the team set about relooking at MP Mus again using ALMA, but in longer wavelengths of light.

This allowed them to probe deeper into the disk, revealing a cavity in the disk close to the young star and two further "holes" further out, all of which were absent in the prior observations.

Further evidence of a planetary companion to MP Mus was about to be delivered.

SpaceX has been launching astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) other other orbital destinations and returning them to Earth for NASA and private companies since 2020.

The company's current astronaut mission, Axiom-4, is scheduled launch on June 11.

Crew-10 launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, in Florida, on March 12, and ferried NASA astronauts Anne McClain, Nichole Ayers, and mission specialists JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov to the ISS, where their Dragon is currently docked.

Axiom-4 will join them and other ISS Expedition 73 crew members on orbit for a mission expected to last about 14 days. Ax-4 is led by former NASA astronaut and Axiom's director of human spaceflight Peggy Whitson.

She is joined by pilot Shubhanshu Shukla of India, mission specialist Sławosz Uznański of Poland and the European Space Agency (ESA), and mission specialist Tibor Kapu, from Hungary.

Gravitational waves reveal most massive black hole merger ever detected — one 'forbidden' by current models

Scientists have detected the most massive merger of black holes ever. This titanic collision, "heard" in ripples in spacetime called gravitational waves, involves black holes so massive that it could challenge current models of the universe.

The merger was detected by the gravitational wave detector network LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) on Nov. 23, 2023, during the fourth observing run of these three sensitive laser interferometers located in the US, Italy, and Japan.

The merger event that set spacetime ringing with this gravitational wave signal, designated GW231123, involved progenitor black holes with masses of 100 and 140 times that of the sun.

These two were so massive that when they merged, they created a "daughter" black hole 225 times the mass of our sun, with the missing mass converted to energy, propelling gravitational waves that rippled out from the violent event.

Prior to GW231123, the most massive black hole created in a merger and detected in gravitational waves had a mass of 140 times that of the sun. This was detected in 2021 as the signal GW190521.

"This is the most massive black hole binary we've observed through gravitational waves, and it presents a real challenge to our understanding of black hole formation," LVK collaboration and Cardiff University researcher Mark Hannam said in a statement.

"Black holes this massive are forbidden through standard stellar evolution models.

"One possibility is that the two black holes in this binary formed through earlier mergers of smaller black holes."

The monstrous masses of these black holes are not the only things that make GW231123 so interesting.

The signal seems to indicate that prior to the merger, at least one of the progenitor black holes was spinning rapidly. Perhaps as rapidly as the laws of physics allow, in fact.

"The black holes appear to be spinning very rapidly — near the limit allowed by Einstein's theory of general relativity," LVK member Charlie Hoy of the University of Portsmouth said.

"That makes the signal difficult to model and interpret. It's an excellent case study for pushing forward the development of our theoretical tools."

Another record broken for LIGO and partners

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) is no stranger to making history and breaking records.

In 2015, its twin detectors based in Livingston, Louisiana, and Hanford, Washington, made the first ever detection of gravitational waves.

This detection came exactly a century after Einstein had first predicted the existence of gravitational waves in his 1915 theory of gravity, general relativity.

The signal, which would become known as GW150914, was the result of the merger of black holes that created a daughter black hole with a mass around 62 times that of the sun.

Since 2015, LIGO has been joined by the gravitational wave detectors Virgo and the Kamioka Gravitational Wave Detector (KAGRA). This resultant collaboration has now detected over 300 black hole mergers.

Over 200 of these detections have occurred in the fourth operating run of these instruments.

As impressive as that is, the high-mass and rapid spin of the black holes that clashed to create GW231123 have pushed the limits of gravitational-wave detection technology and perhaps the bounds of current theoretical models, too.

"This event pushes our instrumentation and data-analysis capabilities to the edge of what's currently possible," LVK member and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) researcher Sophie Bini said.

"It's a powerful example of how much we can learn from gravitational-wave astronomy — and how much more there is to uncover."

Fully unlocking the secrets of this signal and others that LVK detected up until the end of its fourth operating run in January 2024 will require the refinement of analysis and interpretation methods.

"It will take years for the community to fully unravel this intricate signal pattern and all its implications," LVK team member Gregorio Carullo of the University of Birmingham said.

"Despite the most likely explanation remaining a black hole merger, more complex scenarios could be the key to deciphering its unexpected features.

"Exciting times ahead!"

Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill' gives US Space Force $1 billion for secretive X-37B space plane

U.S. President Trump's "One, Big Beautiful Bill Act," H.R. 1 includes $1 billion for the U.S. Space Force (USSF) X-37B military spacecraft program.

The largely classified X-37B – also called the Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) program – carried out its seventh mission, landing at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on March 7, touching down after 434 days in orbit.

As for how that $1 billion would be spent, and when the next X-37B would depart, Space.com reached out to the space plane's builder, Boeing.

We received a "thank you for the query" in response, and an inquiry-altering note to contact the Air Force for comment on the X-37 schedule and budget.

Space test platform

"The USSF X-37B program supports technology risk reduction, experimentation, and operational concept development for future re-usable space vehicles," responded USAF Colonel Lori Astroth, Public Affairs Deputy Director for Space within the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs at the Pentagon.

The X-37B program "serves as a flexible space test platform to conduct various experiments that can be transported to space and returned to Earth," Col. Astroth added.

"Further information regarding X-37B's cost and budget information is not releasable."

Highly elliptical orbit

That last hush-hush flight of the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle-7 (OTV-7) featured the craft being hurled into a highly elliptical high Earth orbit via a Falcon Heavy rocket back on December 28, 2023.

After aerobraking to a low Earth orbit and completing its test and experimentation objectives, the space plane successfully performed its deorbit and landing procedures.

As did the previous (OTV-6) space plane trek, OTV-7 also involved a service module that expanded the capabilities of the spacecraft.

"The successful completion of the novel aerobraking maneuver demonstrated the agile and flexible capabilities the X-37B provides the United States Space Force," according to the statement issued by the Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs.

The aerobraking technique entails use of atmospheric drag over the course of multiple passes to change orbits while expending minimal fuel.

"While on orbit, Mission 7 accomplished a range of test and experimentation objectives intended to demonstrate the X-37B's robust maneuver capability while helping characterize the space domain through the testing of space domain awareness technology experiments," the statement notes.

Use of a lighter composite structure, rather than traditional aluminum.

New generation high-temperature wing leading-edge tiles and toughened uni-piece fibrous refractory oxidation-resistant ceramic (TUFROC) tiles and advanced conformal reusable insulation (CRI) blankets.

According to Aviation Week & Space Technology, the Space Force is utilizing the X-37B system as an on-orbit testbed to try out new technologies, to better understand similar adversarial platforms and to design new training environments, citing comments to the publication in January by Chief of Space Operations General Chance Saltzman.

To be honest, she never really did! Unless you count a very brief stint in Marvel's alt-universe dystopian miniseries "Earth X" from 2000 by Jim Krueger, John Paul Leon, and Alex Ross that featured twin heralds created by Franklin Richards/Galactus.

This alternative take ended with Shalla-Bal's death during a climactic clash with the Celestials. At this point in the marketing campaign, it’s now pretty clear that the film plays out in a retro-futuristic alternate version of Earth in the 1960s.

Therefore, we can surmise that in this iteration of our planet’s timeline, Shalla-Bal was the one who made the “Deal with the Devil” and agreed to be Galactus' herald which could have left Norrin Radd to become the leader of Zenn-La.

What are the Silver Surfer’s powers?

While Shalla-Bal is immortal and once wielded a sliver of the Power Cosmic from Norrin Radd to restore Zenn-La after Galactus drained the planet of its life source, we're not sure what powers this version of the Silver Surfer will eventually display.

The US president warned ‘severe tariffs’ will be imposed if no peace deal is reached within 50 days

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose “severe” tariffs of up to 100% on Russia unless a deal is reached to end the Ukraine conflict within 50 days.

Trump issued the warning on Monday during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office.

“We’re very, very unhappy – I am – with [Russia], and we’re going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don’t have a deal in about 50 days,” he stated.

Trump blamed his predecessor Joe Biden for dragging Washington into the conflict, saying the US had spent approximately $350 billion on aid for Ukraine.
