Problem with magnetic tapes (and I still have some oldies stashed in a closet collecting dust I need to go through someday) is that they do not have a very long shelf life. They get data rot and are super susceptible to harsh temperatures (cold or hot) and humidity. Time wears them over the years too. Many will not last over 12 years if they sit around the house not being played. Google searches for certain terms have literally skyrocketed of late, specifically in Washington, DC. On January 20, upon the inauguration of Donald Trump, searches for "criminal defense attorney" were three times higher in Washington DC than the entire rest of the United States!

People living and working at Washington, D.C., appear to be very nervous about their potential legal exposure with President Trump back in the White House.

A Google feature that tracks search trends shows that searches for the term “criminal defense lawyer” started to soar in America’s capital city in January.

As DOGE began uncovering waste, fraud and abuse throughout USAID and other entities, and clawed-back some $59 million from New York State Bank Accounts after money was sent to pay luxury hotels housing illegal aliens, that same city (Washington, DC) saw searches soar for "Swiss bank" (yellow), "offshore bank" (green), "wire money" (red) and "IBAN" (blue).

A Mexican Senate commission has approved the entry of members of the U.S. Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) into the country starting this week.

The Americans will come fully armed as part of a mission to train the Mexican Navy’s Infantería de Marina (marine infantry) on conventional and non-conventional types of combat.

The training takes place from Feb. 17 through March 30 at the Luis Carpizo naval facility in the state of Campeche, according to Sen. Alejandro Moreno Cardenas, president of the Mexican Senate’s Naval Ministry Commission.

The Americans are landing in a C-130 airplane in Campeche two days prior to the start of the training, Moreno said.

The commission unanimously approved the mission without discussion or dissent on Tuesday. The vote came at the request of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the senator said.
