Russia would target foreign instructors if such deployments take place, sources have told The Times

Western officials are concerned about British plans to potentially resume the training of Kiev’s troops inside Ukraine, The Times reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The UK is among the nations that have trained the Ukrainian military on their soil. Valery Zaluzhny, Kiev’s former top general who has been appointed ambassador to London, toured a boot camp in southern England last month to tell these recruits that they should not be afraid to die for their country.

This week, British Defense Secretary John Healey said the UK could send military personnel to Ukraine.

Such a move would help the Ukrainians “motivate and mobilize more recruits,” he suggested during a visit to Kiev.

“The closer to the front, the more efficient the training is,” a Western official told The Times, discussing the merits and drawbacks of such a deployment.

“But it’s fair to say the Russians would target any kind of Western assistance inside Ukraine.”

The UK had sent several dozen instructors into Ukraine in January 2022 to teach Kiev’s forces how to operate British-donated anti-tank missiles, the report added. They were pulled out shortly before direct hostilities with Russia broke out the following month.

Yavorov military base in Western Ukraine, where the training took place, was hit by Russian long-range missiles within weeks, in March 2022.

The Ukrainian military is struggling to replenish manpower, despite a major overhaul of its mobilization system this year, which introduced harsher punishments for draft avoidance and lowered the conscription age to 25 years.

Mandatory conscription makes recruits prone to desertion, according to the media. Kiev’s Western backers claim that moving their training programs closer to the front would bolster the confidence of Ukrainian citizens that they would be properly trained and equipped before being sent into combat.

The Times claimed that Tony Radakin, the chief of the defense staff, overruled Army chief Patrick Sanders, when he was pushing in September 2023 for the UK to train Ukrainian troops inside the country.

IT SEEMS APPROPRIATE that 2025 has been designated the year of quantum science and technology by the United Nations. Because like Schrödinger’s cat, which (in a quantum thought-experiment) was both alive and dead at the same time inside a closed box, 2025 has hovered in a superposition of two very different states, defined by the outcome of America’s election. Now the ballot boxes have been opened, the world knows which 2025 to expect: the one where Donald Trump returns to the White House. With that uncertainty resolved, here are ten themes to watch in the coming year.

1. America’s choice.

The repercussions of Mr Trump’s sweeping victory will affect everything from immigration and defence to economics and trade. His “America First” policy will have friends and foes alike questioning the solidity of America’s alliances. This could lead to geopolitical realignments, heightened tensions and even nuclear proliferation.

2. Voters expect change.

More generally, incumbent parties did badly in 2024’s unprecedented wave of elections. Some were chucked out (as in America and Britain); others were forced into coalition (as in India and South Africa); others were pushed into cohabitation (as in Taiwan and France). So 2025 will be a year of expectations. Can new leaders deliver what they promised? Will humbled leaders change? If not, unrest may follow.

3. Broader disorder.

Mr Trump may push Ukraine to do a deal with Russia and give Israel a free hand in its conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. America’s more transactional stance and scepticism of foreign entanglements will encourage troublemaking by China, Russia, Iran and North Korea (the “quartet of chaos”) and more meddling by regional powers, like that seen in crisis-hit Sudan. But it is unclear whether America would stand up to China in a conflict over Taiwan or in the South China Sea.

4. Tariffying prospects.

For now, America’s rivalry with China will manifest itself as a trade war, as Mr Trump imposes restrictions and ramps up tariffs—including on America’s allies. As protectionism intensifies, Chinese firms are expanding abroad, both to get around trade barriers and to tap new markets in the global south. So much for decoupling; Chinese firms, building factories from Mexico to Hungary, have other plans.

China’s government has encouraged booming exports of solar panels, batteries and electric vehicles to offset a weak domestic economy. Will investors lose their nerve, or will AI prove its worth, as “agentic” systems become more capable and AI-developed drugs emerge?

Qaddafi was smart enough to realize that this would result in significant US sanctions, so he decided to stash billions of $US in cash in various locations around Africa. He would use this cash to pay for goods and services, paying cash instead of using banks, as the banks would be prohibited from trading with Libya.

After the fall of Qaddafi in 2011, the existence of the cash deposits was discovered, but not the locations.

Reports were made and presented to the then Secretary of State, HR Clinton, and she was told that although they did not know where the cash was, they were aware of it's existence. It is also possible that HRC learned of the cash before Qaddafi was killed, and that she fomented the "Arab Spring" to remove Qaddafi from power.

The government of Kenya has extended special legal privileges, including immunity from lawsuits and exemption from various requirements, to the Gates Foundation, which is heavily focused on curbing population growth around the world.

(LifeSiteNews) – The government of Kenya has granted the far-left Gates Foundation broad immunity to operate in the country, ostensibly in the name of its various charitable causes but raising concerns that it will be used to further the organization’s pro-abortion population-control agenda.

Business Daily Africa reports that in a legal notice published October 4, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi announced that the government had entered into a cooperative agreement with the foundation (known as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation prior to the couple’s 2021 divorce) for its work in support of “agriculture, healthcare, immunization, nutrition, sanitation, financial services, gender equality [sic], and family planning [sic].”

As such, the foundation is being granted protection under Section 11 of the Privileges and Immunity Act, which gives designated individuals and entities immunity from lawsuits connected to their official duties, taxes on payment for their work in connection to those duties, from national service obligations, and from immigration restrictions.

However, the Gates Foundation is notorious for its work advancing causes around the world that are far less innocuous than distributing medicine and technology. Over the years, it has spent heavily on abortion and contraception in the name of “family planning,” climate alarmism, and digital ID surveillance, as well as partnering with the United Nations Population Fund. Its founder, Microsoft chief Bill Gates, also appointed himself a public health expert during the COVID-19 pandemic despite his lack of formal medical training, using his influence to promote lockdowns and vaccine mandates.

In 2011, Bill and Melinda Gates explained to Forbes that their “humanitarian” work to extend lifespans in third-world nations is motivated in part by the hope of reducing population size, believing that parents in those nations have large families not because they want eight or more children, but because they expect some to die early. So “if a mother and father know their child is going to live to adulthood, they start to naturally reduce their population size.”

With a current population of 56 million and a growth rate of 2.28%, Kenya has long been a target of population control activists. “Although the fertility rate is less than half of what it was decades ago, Kenya still sees rapid population growth,” according to World Population Review. “This is because there are many more families in Kenya today because of high fertility rates in the past, so women are having fewer children but there are more families having kids. The COVID-19 psy-op was real and went DEEP. How deep? In a stunning report by The San Francisco Standard, an army of doctors and physicians who pushed lockdowns, masks, and experimental COVID-19 shots during the Plandemic did NOT EXIST.

They were all fake accounts.

According to the outlet's report, the numerous accounts masquerading as doctors in the LGBTQ community were bots pushing the mainstream COVID-19 narrative.

The report highlighted Dr. Robert Honeyman, who allegedly lost a sister to COVID-19.

Honeyman reportedly wrote about his sister's passing on Twitter and the post garnered dozens of condolences, over 4,000 retweets, and 43,000 likes.

Honeyman reportedly described another family tragedy one month later:

"Sad to announce that my husband has entered a coma after being in hospital with Covid. The doctor is unsure if he will come out," Honeyman reportedly tweeted.

"This year has been the toughest of my life losing my sister to this virus. This is the first time in my life I don't see light at the end of the tunnel."

As the outlet explained, Honeyman wasn't real!

The transgender "Doctor of Sociology and Feminist studies" with a "keen interest in poetry" who used they/them pronouns was, in fact, a stock photo described on DepositPhotos, a royalty-free image site, as "Smiling happy, handsome latino man outside headshot portrait."

Their supposedly comatose husband, Dr. Patrick C. Honeyman, was also fake. His Twitter photo had been stolen from an insurance professional in Wayne, Indiana.

The two fake doctors, whose accounts urged extreme caution about Covid-19, were part of a network of at least four fake accounts that touted their ties to the LGBTQ+ community, vocally advocated for mask-wearing and social distancing, and dished out criticism to those they felt were not taking the pandemic seriously.

The Honeymans could not be reached for comment, as they do not exist. At publication time, Robert Honeyman's account was no longer active.

The fake doctors were uncovered by Joshua Gutterman Tranen, a self-described "gay writer" pursuing a master's of fine arts at Bennington College. He saw Robert Honeyman's tweet about their husband being in a coma, noticed people he followed also followed them, and thought that they might be part of the LGBTQ+ academic community.

But after 10 minutes of googling, Gutterman Tranen concluded that Robert Honeyman's photo was a stock image and their biography stretched boundaries of believability: an academic who left no traces on academic websites and had lost two family members to Covid in late 2022, despite masking and distancing.

While it's unclear who created these accounts and others like them, the glaring woke symbols in their profiles suggest they targeted liberals to generate fear of COVID-19.

The Honeymans offer one of the most blatant examples of this. It is unclear who created the two doctors, but their bios and personas signpost identities meant to appeal to a certain type of Twitter denizen: liberal, pro-diversity and concerned about Covid. Or meant to provoke the opposite of that type of person.

Both doctors present themselves as members of the LGBTQ+ community. Robert displayed the trans and Ukrainian flags in their Twitter name. Patrick had a rainbow flag in his bio.

Swedish police boards Chinese bulker to observe cable outage investigation

Swedish police on Thursday boarded the Yi Peng 3, a 23-year-old panamax bulker owned by Ningbo Yipeng Shipping and linked to the severing of two data cables in the Baltic Sea after being invited by Chinese authorities.

The vessel has been wanted for questioning by Sweden as the top suspect in the severing of the Swedish-Lithuanian and Finnish-German fibre-optic cables in November.

Since the incident, it has been anchored in the Kattegat Sea while diplomats in Stockholm and Beijing discussed access to the vessel. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said they requested China’s cooperation in the investigation back in late November but noted that there was no accusation of any sort directed at China.

The Swedish police said in a statement that they were on board the bulker as observers, while Chinese authorities conducted investigations. Danish authorities facilitated the visit. It is understood that representatives from Germany, Finland, and Denmark also boarded the ship.

They also stated that “no investigative measures are carried out” by the Swedish Police Authority while on board the ship.

“The preliminary investigation into sabotage of the two cable breaks in the Baltic Sea continues,” the police authority added.

The preliminary investigation began in November. The police authorities in Finland, Sweden, and Lithuania set up a joint team to investigate the cause of the damage to the cables. The investigation is led by Sweden’s state prosecutor Henrik Söderman of the country’s unit against international and organized crime.

The Swedish Police Authority pointed out that the investigations carried out on the ship on Thursday were not part of the preliminary investigation.

Earlier this week, Norway’s TV 2 and Sweden’s TV 4 revealed underwater footage which further reinforced suspicions of sabotage of the two cables. Underwater drone operations conducted by the television stations and Blueye Robotics revealed a broad, dark drag mark on the seabed where the Yi Peng 3 passed over Danish data cables.
