Boston City Councilors control their own budget, deciding for themselves how much to spend on everything from salary and bonuses to postage. In April of 2023, just one month before giving her relative the bonus, 5 Investigates discovered that Fernandes Anderson advocated for bigger salary budgets. She and other councilors asked to increase their staff salary budget from $315,000 to $390,000, and suggested “to leave the decision making to discretion of the councilors” on what individual salaries should be.

In 2023, the state ethics commission found Fernandes Anderson violated the conflict of interest law by hiring her sister and son at city hall and raising their salaries to $70,000 a year. Fernandes Anderson agreed to pay a fine of $5,000.

According to a federal indictment, Fernandes Anderson gave extra bonus money to "Staff Member A" with the agreement that the staffer would give a portion of the money back to the councilor. That staff member is a relative of Fernandes Anderson, something the councilor lied about, investigators said. Since staff bonus information is publicly available, Fernandes Anderson said the larger bonus for Staff Member A was to compensate them for previous volunteer work, court documents said. Staff Member A's $13,000 bonus was more than double the amount given to other staffers, investigators said.

"But that supersized bonus came with a hitch. Ms. Fernandes Anderson told Staff Member A she would need to fork over $7,000 in cash back to Ms. Fernandes Anderson.

Ukraine can make America rich – Trump ally

The country has rare earth minerals worth trillions and is ready to make a deal with the US, Senator Lindsey Graham has said

Ukraine could be extremely useful to the US because it is brimming with valuable natural resources and is willing to negotiate an agreement with Washington on extraction, Senator Lindsey Graham has said.

The Republican senator from South Carolina told Fox News thatthe Ukraine conflict is ultimately “about money.” An extract of the interview was published on the senator’s YouTube channel on Wednesday. “You know that therichest country in all of Europe for rare earth minerals is Ukraine?” he said, estimating the worth at 2 to 7 trillion dollars.

Graham added that Ukraine is ready to “do a deal with us,” but not Russia. “So it’s in our interest to make sure that Russia doesn’t take over the place,” he said, describing Ukraine as the “breadbasket of the world.”

“We can make money and have an economic relationship with Ukraine. It would be very beneficial to us, with peace,” Graham went on to say. “Donald Trump is going to do a deal to get our money back, to enrich ourselves with rare earth minerals. A good deal for Ukraine and us.”(Graham has pushed this to Trump, but there's no evidence Trump is involved at all.)

The president-elect, he added, will also help settle the conflict by concluding an “honorable deal” that would avoid “humiliating” Russian President Vladimir Putin and setting the stage for another conflict.

“Donald Trump knows how to end wars. All Joe Biden knows how to do is start wars,” he said.

Graham is known for his hawkish stance on aiding Ukraine and containing Moscow. In February, he was added to Russia’s list of ‘terrorists and extremists’, after the senator advocated for designating Russia as a ‘state sponsor of terrorism’. In 2023, Moscow expressed outrage overGraham’s remarksduring a meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, when he said: “The Russians are dying. The best money we’ve ever spent.”

In mid-October, Zelensky presented his ‘victory plan,’ which stated that Kiev is ready to sign with its Western backers “a special agreement on the joint protection of the available critical resources” in Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Mikhail Podoliak, a top adviser to Zelensky, also stressed that Ukraine has “deposits of rare minerals, such as lithium and titanium,which we can exploit together [with the US].” (guaranteed Joe and Hunter already locked that deal down and will be involved)

Trump has vowed to quickly end the Ukraine conflict. Media reports have suggested that he may try to force Ukraine to drop its NATO ambitions and negotiate a freeze of the conflict. Moscow has ruled out a freeze along the current front line, insisting that all the objectives of its military operation must be achieved.

(PS: Unfortunately for the greedy crew, Russia has seized the two largest areas, towns and cities with the most rare earth minerals Graham was cheering about. And the people there don't want to be part of Ukraine, they prefer being part of Russia.)

AARO gives classified briefing to House lawmakers

The Pentagon’s office for UFO investigations is shedding some light on bizarre sightings in classified briefings to Congress.

Members of the House Oversight Committee are hearing from a group from the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) inside a secure room at the Capitol.

AARO was set up in 2022 and has now reached full operational capacity. AARO’s new director, Jon Kosloski, will be speaking to lawmakers who have vowed to get to the truth of unexplained sightings.

A Defense Department spokesperson told NewsNation that AARO can now fully carry out its mission to investigate those sightings, which include various types of unknown objects.

The briefing comes after last month’s House and Senate hearings on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs), which the public often refers to as UFOs.

The hearings revealed that between May of 2023 to June of 2024, the office reviewed more than 750 new reports of UAP and identified 12 of them as needing more analysis.

The Pentagon has been pushing back on whistleblower allegations that it is operating a secret UFO-retrieval program and that UAPs are extraterrestrial in nature.

The agency has repeatedly said there are no such programs and no evidence that UAPs come from anywhere other than our planet.

AARO’s findings resolved a number of cases as common objects like balloons or drones. But the admission that some cases can’t be so easily wrapped up caught the attention of both lawmakers and UFO believers.

“There are interesting cases that I, with my physics and engineering background and time in the intelligence community, do not understand and I don’t know anybody else who understands,” Kosloski said at one hearing.

AARO stressed that there is no evidence of alien technology but did admit that more analysis needs to happen to figure out what people have seen in the sky.

Those include jellyfish UAPs, which appear as blobs with trailing tendrils on video, radar and other equipment.

No cameras are allowed in the meeting but what House members hear could help shape the agenda when it comes to future Congressional investigations into UAPs.

About 3 am in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 6, we all came to realize that Donald Trump would become the 47th President of the United States. Thinking back, I remember having two main feelings.

The first was just relief. The nation had been spared from the rule of some of the most lawless, most ruthless and least moral politicians who have ever been entrusted with power. My many friends who have been cruelly persecuted by the FBI and the Justice Department also understood that feeling of relief. The children who had been brought across the border and trafficked may not have understood it, but for them too there would be a light at the end of a dark tunnel.

My second feeling was gratitude. Thank you, Lord, for lifting the burden of a corrupt government, and giving our nation another chance. We may not be out of the woods yet, but I still feel that way.

All we must do is get to noon on January 20, and the Biden crime family will fly out of town, hopefully never to be seen again. And the rest of us will have another chance to get it right. Just two more months—God help us.

When President Trump met with President Biden in the Oval Office, Biden promised that he would do all in his power to ensure a peaceful transition of power. It sounded so good. Actually, it was too good to be true.

Over 100,000 Ukrainian troops killed or missing – journalist

At least 70,000 soldiers have been killed, Ukrainian journalist Yury Butusov has claimed, citing confidential general-staff data

The Ukrainian military has suffered at least 70,000 confirmed deathsand 35,000 soldiers are missing in the ongoing conflict with Russia, according to journalist Yury Butusov, the editor-in-chief of Censor.net.

Butusov, who is closely linked to former President Pyotr Poroshenko, claims the figures are based on confidential data provided by Ukraine’s general staff to Vladimir Zelensky.

Butusov, editor-in-chief of the popular news website Censor.net, made the revelation on Thursday while responding to a question on whether rumored figures of 100,000 killed in action and 200,000 deserters held any merit.

“Unfortunately, our irrecoverable losses in the war, they really amount to, according to the data that the General Staff transmitted to the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, if you count the dead and missing together, they amount to about 105,000 servicemen,” he stated.

Some 70,000 soldiers have been confirmed dead, with another 35,000 considered missing in action, Butusov noted. The journalist did not comment on the massive figure believed to reflect the number of soldiers who had gone AWOL.

The journalist also referred to a recent report by The Economist, which cited leaked intelligence memos on the Ukrainian casualties.The weekly suggested Kiev has lost almost 500,000 troops, with “at least” 60,000-to-100,000 believed to be dead and “perhaps a further 400,000 too injured to fight on.”Butusov alleged the Western reporters likely got their figures from the same document he did.

The Economist report invoked a reaction from Zelensky himself, with the Ukrainian leader disputing the figure.

“Someone recently gave information in the American media that 80,000 Ukrainians have been killed. But I want to tell you that no, less. Much less,” he told Kyodo News earlier this week.

Kiev has been extremely secretive about the casualties its military has sustained over the course of the conflict. The only time when an official figure was provided was in February this year, when Zelensky claimed some 31,000 troops had been killed since the beginning of the hostilities and dismissed any higher tallies as Russian propaganda. Earlier this year, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukraine’s military losses, both killed and injured, since February 2022 had reached almost 500,000.

Musk’s Cybertrucks ‘useless in war’ – Chechen leader

Tesla Cybertrucks have proven unfit for use in warfare, the leader of Russia’s Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, said on Thursday.

Speaking in a TV broadcast, Kadyrov noted that while he did have the luxury electric car tested in the Ukraine conflict, it performed poorly compared to Russia’s UAZ Patriot.

“We sent it to war, installed a machine gun, but it was useless for war. Our Patriot is better in the war than this car,” he said.

Kadyrov added that he likes to joke around with Musk online.

“I like his character, his way of life, his conduct, his position in life. I like to banter with him on social media,” the Chechen leader said.

The regional leader’s earlier “banter” posted online included claims that Musk remotely deactivated Kadyrov’s Cybertruck.

“It wasn’t even my car,” the Chechen leader said, adding that he is sorry if his jokes caused any offense.

Kadyrov’s previous videos claiming that Musk gifted him one of the electric cars were a joke, he admitted.

In September, Kadyrov published a video of two Cybertrucks with machine guns mounted on them, driving through a wooded area and firing at a drone.

The Tesla Cybertruck is a luxury electric vehicle with a durable metal exterior – with the doors allegedly rated to withstand shots from .45 and 9mm handgun rounds – but was never designed for military use.

One of Kadyrov’s early videos claiming Musk donated him one of Tesla’s electric cars prompted accusations in the media that the billionaire was aiding Russia in the Ukraine conflict.The Tesla CEO denied the claims.
