A French castle owned by royals and a Rothschild is on the market for $454M — which would make it one of the most expensive homes ever sold

A 12th-century French castle, Château d'Armainvilliers, is being auctioned for around $454 million.

The castle was previously owned by King Hassan II of Morocco.

It could be transformed as part of a new city development outside Paris.

A 12th-century castle that once belonged to a Rothschild is being auctioned for a staggering €425 million, or around $454 million.

Once sold, the castle and its grounds could be transformed into a new city development just outside Paris, a spokesperson for Ignace Meuwissen, a luxury real-estate agent who is handling the sale with his company Whisper Auctions, told Business Insider.

The 17-bedroom castle, known as Château d'Armainvilliers, dates back to the 12th century and is around 30 miles outside Paris, according to Mansion Global. It was once owned by Edmond de Rothschild, before being sold to King Hassan II of Morocco, a spokesperson for Meuwissen told Business Insider.

Meuwissen told Mansion Global that it's one of the most expensive real-estate listings in the world.

But despite its connection to royalty, a spokesperson said the castle "may not hold much historical value" to the future buyer and will likely be favored because of its large size. The castle is 2,500 square meters and has an additional 1,000 hectares of surrounding land.

Château d'Armainvilliers has three floors with 17 bedrooms.

The castle is 2,500 square meters in size, consisting of three floors with three elevators, 17 bedrooms, five reception rooms, a hairdressing salon, a kitchen, separate housing for staff members, and stables that can hold up to 50 horses, a spokesperson for Ignace Meuwissen told BI.

The sale is being handled by Whisper Auctions, which represents off-market, luxury properties. The company's listings start at 2.5 million euros, or around $2.6 million, according to its website.

Ignace Meuwissen, the company's cofounder, is "in discussions with developers" who could transform the castle and surrounding area into a city, a spokesperson said.

Meuwissen's vision "entails the possibility of developing a new city near Paris, with the historical significance of the castle being of secondary importance," they said.

They added that the project would involve the creation of apartments, commercial centers, and other amenities. It's unclear if the castle would have to be refurbished or demolished for the development to take place.

Take a look inside one of the castle's five reception rooms, which stands out for its colorful decor.

The castle's decor is loud and colorful. This room has bright blue chairs and red throw cushions, while others have extravagant chandeliers, vibrant paintings, and grand pillars.

The castle's 17 bedrooms all have their own unique look.

One of the bedrooms, photographed above, has a chandelier and a walk-in closet and is decorated with several armchairs, a dressing table, mirrors, and a double bed.

The property was last put on the market in 2008.

Speaking to Mansion Global, Meuwissen said King Hassan's son inherited the castle following his death in 1999. He sold it in 2008 for 200 million euros, or around $215,500 million, Meuwissen told the outlet.

"The property was purchased by an owner from the Middle East but has never been utilized," Meuwissen said.

The castle has generated interest from around the world.

The castle has generated worldwide interest, with press outlets including Architectural Digest and The New York Post writing about the listing.

Meuwissen told Mansion Global that the property has received interest from international buyers, including one person from Eastern Europe and three people from Asia.

Kim Ki-nam, who has died aged 94, was known, south of the 38th parallel, as the Goebbels of North Korea and was widely credited as the mastermind behind the personality cult woven around the ruling Kim dynasty, elevating the veneration of family members above even ideology in the hermit kingdom.

Over more than four decades as the leader of North Korea’s propaganda apparatus, Kim Ki-nam (no relation of the dictators), was instrumental in the creation of the quasi-religious cult around the “eternal leaders of Korea”, the founder of North Korea, Kim Il-sung, and his successors, Kim Jong-iland Kim Jong-un, helping to establish the country as a one-man hereditary dictatorship through successive generations.

He was particularly close to Kim Jong-il, helping him to expand the family cult after his father’s death in 1994. He was seen as the architect of claims of the great accomplishments of the country’s “Dear Leader”such as that he learnt to walk at the age of three weeks, was talking at eight weeks and, during three years at university, wrote no fewer than 1,500 books – and six full operas – and scored 11 holes in one in the very first golf round of his life. Tall, bespectacled and with a slight hunch, Kim Ki-nam was (despite his authorship of such works as Fundamental Changes Brought About in Party Ideological Work Under the Banner of Converting the Whole Society to the Juche Ideology),a talented writer and charismatic public speaker.

Exerting a stranglehold over the country’s press, media, arts and publishing, he was the Korean Worker’s Party’s (KWP’s) key author of political slogans and in later years was responsible for much of the staging and choreography of mass rallies to mark the birthdays of dynastic leaders past and present.

“Nature and the sky unfolded such mysterious ecstasy in celebration of the birthday of Kim Jong Il,” the country’s central news agency reported after one such occasion, though whether North Korea’s poverty-stricken people shared in the euphoria must be doubted.

According to a report in 2019, Kim Ki-nam managed a loyalty fund into which donations were regularly extorted on such celebratory occasions. The fund had ostensibly been set up to promote the North’s “Juche” or self-reliance doctrine around the world, but the money was said to be destined for Kim Jong-un’s coffers.

The son of an iron worker, Kim Ki-nam was born in what is now the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjang on August 28 1929. At school in Pyongyang he joined a student group opposed to the Japanese occupation. After the establishment of North Korea in 1948 he attended Kim Il-sung University and spent some time studying in Moscow.

He joined his country’s diplomatic service and served as ambassador to Beijing in the early 1950s. In 1956 he was appointed section chief in the KWP’s International Department and joined the faculty of Kim Il-sung University, where he became a professor.

After a further spell in Moscow at the Soviet Union’s Higher Party School he became an editorial writer for the KWP daily newspaper, Rodong Sinmun. In 1966 he was appointed deputy director of the KWP Propaganda and Agitation Department (PAD) where he was said to have become “drinking buddies” with Kim Jong-il, who became PAD director in 1967.

In 1972 he was appointed associate editor, and in 1974 editor, of the party’s theoretical magazine, Kulloja, and in 1976 he was promoted to editor-in-chief of Rodong Sinmun. From 1977 he served several terms in the Supreme People’s Assembly and was elected to the 6th Central Committee at the 6th Party Congress in 1980.

During the 1980s Kim Ki-nam led publicity initiatives both to support Kim Jong Il’s succession and establish Kim Il-sung’s world-historical status, including, it was said, writing essays and speeches attributed to Kim Jong-il. He also managed the establishment, reported as “discoveries,” of “slogan-bearing trees”, supposedly “revolutionary legacies” of Korea’s anti-Japanese guerrillas.

In April 1989 he was appointed director of the PAD and three years later was elected KWP secretary for propaganda and party history.

Having survived frequent purges, after Kim Jong-il’s death in 2011, Kim Ki-nam was one of seven leading North Korean officials who served as pallbearers at his funeral. Within four years he was one of only two still in office, the other five having either disappeared, been executed or banished. In 2016 he was elected a member of the newly created State Affairs Commission.

Kim Jong-un has paid tribute to a “veteran revolutionary who had remained boundlessly loyal” to the regime. As a result of such devotion, Kim Ki-nam was one of the very few North Korean officials allowed to visit the South.

In 2005 he became the first North Korean official to visit the South Korean national cemetery at Seoul and in 2009 he led a delegation to attend the memorial service to Kim Dae-jung, the former South Korean president who held the first inter-Korean summit with Kim Jong-il in 2000.

Kim Ki-nam officially retired from office in October 2017, passing on his role to Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo-jong, though he continued to make appearances at public events.

USSPACECOM ‘Partners to Win’ at NATO’s first space symposium

Lt. Gen. Thomas James, U.S. Space Command deputy commander, and Royal Air Force Air Commodore Darren Whiteley, USSPACECOM Strategy, Policy and Plans deputy director, represented the command at the inaugural NATO Space Symposium in Toulouse, France, April 29-30.

The goal of the symposium, hosted by the NATO Headquarters International Military Staff and Allied Command Transformation, was to accelerate the integration of space capabilities into NATO’s planning and operations; explore how to leverage the rapidly evolving space sector for the benefit of collective defense; and lay groundwork to define NATO’s long-term vision for space.

The approximately 300 attendees from across allied nations’ defense, industry and academic communities engaged through a range of panels, speeches and group discussions focused on the theme, “Deterrence, Defense and Resilience in and through the Space Domain.”

General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, set the tone and kicked off the forum by encouraging the audience to, “envision a future in which space remains a platform for scientific collaboration, environmental monitoring and global prosperity. Here at NATO, we are committed to working with nations and ‘partnering to win’ to secure that future through a collaborative approach built on innovation, resilience and responsible progress.”

While USSPACECOM senior leaders recently met with several allied leaders during bilateral engagements at the 39th Space Symposium, this NATO event was established to get as many nations together all at once for the sole purpose of advancing the alliances’ deterrence and defense efforts in space, resulting in 27 of the 32 NATO countries attending. James was invited to represent U.S. Space Command and participate in panel discussions. His panel labeled, “The Importance of Space for the Future of NATO’s Deterrence and Defense” allowed him to share examples of the command’s successes that have increased Space Domain Awareness and improve its protect and defend mission through the integration of commercial partners.

These include the Joint Commercial Operations Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Commercial Integration Cell at the Combined Space Operations Center, Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, which is expected to grow in the future.

“Given the rapidly advancing threats we collectively face, we must continue collaborating with our Allies here and think globally – teaming with our Allies and partners is an asymmetric advantage over competitors,” James said. “It would be incredibly powerful to see greater defense and commercial integration and data-sharing of SDA at a global scale, giving us redundancies and creating complexities for our competitors.”

The topics of SDA, commercial integration and data sharing were threaded throughout all discussions and a clear priority for NATO to fulfill core tasks and operate in a multi-domain environment. They are exploring different ways to build closer relations with space industries that may make it easier for industry to work with defense programs and allow NATO to harness innovation and data from broader markets.

Additionally, NATO is also working on their Alliance Persistence Surveillance from Space initiative, announced in February 2023, which plans to establish a combined constellation of both national and commercial space assets to help streamline data collection, sharing, and analysis among NATO allies and the NATO command structure, while also generating cost savings. The United States was one of the initial 16 nations who launched the initiative.

Other major improvements have demonstrated how NATO has changed their approach to space over the last few years. For instance, in 2020, the NATO Space Centre was established, then in 2021 NATO recognized that attacks in space could lead to the invocation of Article 5, and in 2022 the Strategic Concept was released. Additionally, countries on their own have also made adjustments and investments to focus on the domain.

“Several countries have made tremendous progress in space over the last few years setting up their own commands or centers and normalizing the domain,” Whiteley said, who is an exchange officer on the USSPACECOM staff. “There is more of an awareness to remove unnecessary classification barriers to open conversations with allies and partners. And there are some allies bringing niche policies and military options that we haven’t seen before, which is important to bringing synergy to operations.”

As an alternative to a primary election, Illinois law allowed for a party to get its candidates on the ballot for General Assembly spots by party slating procedure, along with collection of a requisite number of public signatures on nominating positions. A number of Republican challengers have been proceeding accordingly.

Senate Minority Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) said it right: “This abuse of power that blocks candidates from giving voters a choice in free, fair and open elections is unprecedented in Illinois’ 205-year history,” Curran said. “Their dictator-style tactic of stealing an election before a vote is cast is a new low for elective government in this state and undermines the core principals of American democracy.”

Here’s my take on Q…

I believe it is a major psyop and from what I can tell, it or they or whatever or whoever is “running this op” has done a major disservice.

What I see are a bunch of people sitting and waiting for something to happen instead of doing what I have been calling for now for quite some time (LOCAL ACTION).

The nonsense about trump is still the president and the military is coming to the rescue is just that…nonsense.

I wasn’t belittling Dave (he’s a big boy), I was being brutally honest (like it or not or believe it or not).

Rome is burning Nero and the bucket brigade is getting low on water.

And like it or not (I don’t), we have a person in the WH that is there following a constitutional process…note I didn’t say fair election (which I don’t believe occurred).

To review, Atlanta Judge Scott McAfee of Fulton Superior Court, who donated to Fani Willis when she was running for office, ruled in March that the Fani simply had to kick her lover, Nathan Wade, off the case after she paid him more than $600,000. The two notoriously took several lavish vacations together on Wade’s dime (which Fani swears she repaid in cash).

According to McAfee, while he found the “appearance of impropriety,” no “disqualification of a constitutional officer necessary when a less drastic and sufficiently remedial option is available,” adding “that the prosecution of this case cannot proceed until the State selects one of two options.”

And now, the Atlanta Court of Appeals has agreed to hear an appeal from the defendants over whether McAfee erred in his decision.

mainly German, royalty and nobility. In return for their services, court Jews gained social privileges, including, in some cases, being granted noble status.

Examples of what would be later called court Jews emerged in the High Middle Ages[a] when the royalty, the nobility, and the church borrowed money from money changers or employed them as financiers.

Preparing for tomorrow: Space Flag 24-1 strengthens operational readiness

Space Training and Readiness Command hosted the 19th iteration of the Space Flag exercise at Schriever Space Force Base, last month. The event saw the participation of nearly 400 individuals focusing on space mission integration planning.

According to officials from the 392nd Combat Training Squadron, who are responsible for constructing and overseeing Space Force service exercises, Space Flag 24-1 marked the “first formal reorganization of the exercise, taking into account multiple emerging service priorities.”

“This exercise has evolved to match real world mission planning to the greatest extent possible with a realignment to operational readiness linked to several Operation Plans addressing real world threats the force could face today,” said Capt. Lane Murphy, Space Flag 24-1 exercise director.

Space Flag now encompasses both the operational and tactical levels of warfare, but despite the reorganization, the core of the exercise remains focused on integrated mission planning.

The exercise has retained its objective for Guardians to effectively exercise joint space forces against a capable, thinking, and determined adversary to provide participating units with valuable insights and data to evaluate their operational readiness and develop lessons learned.

“The goal of Space Flag is to produce a comprehensive space mission sortie based on the orders generated to employ space forces to a particular conflict,” Murphy said.

Participants from every Delta within Space Operations Command took part in Space Flag 24-1, which also included a joint and interagency presence.

“I believe one of the overarching benefits of this exercise is that Guardians know how to do their individuals tasks, but when they participate here, they can see how their assets and actions not only affect the overall space fight but the overall terrestrial fight as well,” Murphy said.

The exercise was executed over a span of about three weeks. The initial week was dedicated to the generation of the necessary Mission Type Orders to kick off the integrated planning efforts for the subsequent two weeks.

The final two weeks involved collaborative planning efforts from approximately 20 units across SpOC. These efforts were put to the test during two dynamic “fly-out” periods featuring numerous simulation tools and constructive rehearsals of their strategies against a thinking adversary, represented by the 527th, 57th and 26th Space Aggressor Squadrons.

“As we conclude Space Flag 24-1, we’re reminded of the irreplaceable role of large force exercises in service readiness,” said Lt. Col. Scott Nakatani, 392nd CTS commander. “This Space Flag tested and iterated on the Space Force’s ability to utilize mission type orders in support of a Great Power Competition scenario in a way not possible outside of exercises.”

Nakatani expressed pride in the many Guardians who participated in the exercise.

“[Guardians’] ability to adapt and innovate in the face of changing global threats directly enables the Space Force’s commitment to maintaining space superiority through competitive endurance,” he said. “With each exercise, we evolve our tactics and strengthen the integration between our units, ensuring the Space Force is always prepared to secure our national interests in the space domain.”

Tobin is a “practitioner astrologer and rune reader” with an organization called Prana House, where Tobin regularly hosts meetups for “queer witches.” After she was brought to Unionville High School to give a talk on “safe dating,” the complaints from parents began to flood in.

Parents began reaching out to the school to flag Tobin’s presentation that used materials from pro-abortion group Planned Parenthood, and that her social media accounts are filled with both witch-themed and sexually explicit material — one picture features Tobin topless, showcasing that she had her breasts removed. Tobin’s Instagram bio contains the phrases “BLACK LIVES MATTER,” “heathens against hate,” and “NO TERFS OR SWERFS OR NAZIS IN VALHALLA.”

The district downplayed the presentation and said parents had fallen for “misinformation,” according to emails shared with The Daily Wire. But parents are resurfacing the issue after one parent, Chad Williams, a local lawyer, discovered that Tobin had also administered a sex-themed survey to the students in addition to giving the presentation on dating.

According to summaries of the surveys obtained by The Daily Wire, students, most of whom were 14 years old, had been asked about their gender identity and whether they had ever been “pressured” into a sexual act or whether someone had pressured them to do something sexual.

When asked for comment on the situation, the district indicated that it no longer worked with Chester County Crime Victims Center.

“From 2016-2023, the Chester County Crime Victims Center (CVC) provided lessons on safe dating to students at Unionville High School (UHS),” the school told The Daily Wire. “All presenters from CVC completed required clearances and training to present from a script in schools. The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District’s (UCFSD) policy 235.1 governs the administration of surveys to students. UCFSD is currently investigating whether the Survey policy was followed during these presentations.”

Israel has committed to the United States and Egypt to restrict its operation in Rafah, which started on Monday, aiming only to deny Hamas authority over the border crossing that connects Gaza with Egypt, and concentrating on the eastern side of the city.

The parties agreed that a private American security companywill assume management of the crossing after the IDF concludes its operation. Israel has also pledged not to damage the crossing's facilities to ensure its continuous operation.

As part of Israel's efforts to win agreement for a Rafah operation, negotiations have been underway with a private company in the U.S. that specializes in assisting armies and governments around the world engaged in military conflicts. The company has operated in several African and Middle Eastern countries, guarding strategic sites like oil fields, airports,army bases and sensitive border crossings. It employs veterans of elite U.S. Army units.

Under the understandings between the three countries, when Israel has completed its limited operation in the border crossing area, the U.S. company will take responsibility for operating the facility. That includes monitoring goods arriving in the Gaza Strip from Egypt and preventing Hamas from re-establishing control of the crossing. According to the agreement, Israel and the U.S. will assist the company as necessary.

The Egyptians submitted a complaint to Israel on Tuesday regarding IDF troops who had uploaded videos showing the Israeli flag being flown at the Rafah crossing. The Egyptians argued that such a symbolic and public step harms their efforts to downplay the action close to their territory.
