IDF Shelling Hammers Rafah As Egypt Sends Top Intel Official To Avert Ground Offensive

Egypt is attempting a last ditch effort to reach a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel at a moment IDF shelling of Rafah has intensified, in what are seen as 'softening' operations ahead of an imminent ground offensive, despite international calls to cancel the operation.

The Egyptian government on Friday dispatched a high level delegation to Israel led by top intelligence official Abbas Kamel. The Associated Press reported he is presenting a "new vision" for prolonged ceasefire.

But key to a breakthrough is agreement on the remaining Israeli hostages being released, and the two sides seem no closer to achieving that. The Wall Street Journal cites that "Egyptian officials familiar with the negotiations say the talks toward a hostage deal have little chance of success, but hope to use the meetings to buy time for the U.S. and regional powers to pressure Israel to pause its plans to attack Rafah."

While things heat up in the south of the Strip, the IDF has reportedly allowed many displaced Palestinians to return to their homes in northern Gaza "with minimum restrictions".

According to more via WSJ: "The main stumbling block in the negotiations now is Hamas’s demand that any deal include a credible path to a permanent cease-fire, rather than a temporary pause in the fighting, according to Egyptian and other officials familiar with the negotiations."

As for Egypt, it is bracing for a likely massive refugee influx across its border and into Sinai should an all-out Rafah assault be unleashed. Both Egypt and Israel have been establishing camps; however, these would likely reach and overflow in capacity within 24 hours of a Rafah ground operation.

One top Hamas official told international media correspondents that Hamas is willing to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel. But Hamas has stuck by its key demand of a full Israeli military withdrawal from the Strip. At the same time Prime Minister Netanyahu has vowed to see through his vow of eradicating Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists.

Hamas has also said it is willing to lay down its weapons if Israel vows to uphold a two-state solution. Some European countries have also called for this, and have pushed for Palestine to become a full-fledged member of the United Nations.

On Friday at least five more Palestinians have been reported killed by the intensified shelling in Rafah. Currently, more than half of the total Gaza Strip population of 2.3 million are believe to be packed into the southern city. Humanitarian aid organizations are warning of an impending disaster if there is a full military ground offensive. The past weeks have seen dozens killed in similar shelling attacks.

A large segment of the Israeli population believes that Prime Minister Netanyahu is launching into a Rafah operation full-steam for the sake of his political survival. One fresh Haaretz headline, for example reads: "Fearing the End of His Coalition, Netanyahu Edges Toward Rafah Operation Over Hostage Deal".

ANOTHER Country Boots Out U.S. Forces, As Biden NatSec Plan Crumbles In Real Time.

U.S. forces are being pushed out of yet another African nation in the Sahel region, with some of its already small force of around 100 troops in Chad to be reduced. Like many other African states, Chad has turned away from the U.S. and towards Russia for security assistance.

The Biden regime is attempting to downplay the withdrawal. “USAFRICOM (United States Africa Command) is currently planning to reposition some U.S. military forces from Chad, a portion of which were already scheduled to depart,” said Pentagon press secretary Major General Pat Ryder.

Maj. Gen. Ryder has suggested this is a “temporary step.” However, Chad is strongly signaling its hostility to the U.S. presence. Earlier this month, Air Force Chief of Staff Idriss Amine Ahmed told the U.S. attache U.S. forces should cease their activities on Adji Kossei Air Base. He argues they have failed to justify their presence.

These developments in Chad follow confirmation the U.S. will be forced out of Niger. A much larger force of over a thousand troops and recently finished two new drone bases are currently hosted there.

Like neighboring Mali and Burkina Faso, Niger has been taken over by a military junta. They are essential to U.S. interests in the Sahel, which spans the southern Sahara from the Atlantic to the Red Sea. However, all have now realigned with Russia.

The steady stream of geopolitical losses in Africa is a major embarrassment to Joe Biden and his national security team. The U.S. has long sought hegemony in the Sahel. It was expected that diplomatic and economic sanctions against Russia following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine would weaken Moscow’s regional influence. Instead, it has grown, while that of the U.S. and its regional allies, particularly France, has waned.

Niger’s realignment also poses significant challenges to Europe, facilitating an increase in illegal immigration from sub-Saharan Africa.

Our vessels have already passed all required inspections and we are confident that the Akdeniz will pass this inspection provided there is no political interference.

We expect this to be no more than a few days delay. Israel will not break our resolve to reach the Palestinians of Gaza.

Five Massacres in 24 Hours, Journalist Killed Gaza Genocide Continues

Scores of Palestinians were killed and many others were wounded on Thursday, in the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has now entered its 202nd day.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, Israeli forces committed 5 massacres in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, killing 43 Palestinian and wounding 64 more.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that four civilians were killed and several others were wounded when a drone targeted a group of Palestinians on the Wadi Gaza Bridge.

134 days have passed since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. At this time, the "second army of the world" (intentionally in quotation marks) has still not destroyed the Ukrainian air force, has not captured Kiev, and the Russian warehouses located in the rear are constantly attacked using missile systems and aircraft. In the meantime, this conflict exposed the serious equipment deficiencies of the Russian army (lack of modern tanks, precision weapons, poor coordination of artillery fire), not to mention the fighters of the so-called Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics, who often use equipment dating back to World War II. It is not known exactly where the entire situation was captured, although there are claims that the photo shows militants from the above-mentioned self-proclaimed republics. Despite the poor quality, you can see that some soldiers have their weapons at the ready and are observing the sectors, which in turn allows us to conclude that they are on the front line, not deep in the rear. As I mentioned in the introduction, from the point of view of combat tactics, the use of a civilian truck with a trailer with a bathtub is bizarre, but I decided to maintain journalistic integrity, which means analyzing the entire situation presented in the photograph. So the first question is: is this photo really authentic? Of course, there is a chance that the whole thing is fake, but the sight of Smart with the letters "Z" painted on it, known from the beginning of the conflict, makes me ready to consider it authentic.

And so we come to the second question: does using a civilian tractor-trailer with a tipper make any sense during war? Here the answer must be affirmative. Yes, such a vehicle can be useful, but its effective use is really limited to conducting engineering and logistic activities, and only in the deep rear, without fire contact with the enemy. Using such a DAF directly on the front line is simply pure stupidity. Starting with the tractor itself, a civilian car does not provide any protection against mine strikes, small arms fire or contamination in the event of the use of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. This means that immobilizing it will not be a big problem even for a small section of soldiers with Kalashnikov assault rifles.

However, I feel even more sorry for the soldiers transported on the trailer. First of all, having to stand on platforms in a trailer swinging from side to side to observe the sectors around the truck is simply a tiring task. Contrary to appearances, soldier fatigue is an important factor that negatively affects his combat ability. That's the first thing.
