Tony Blair Calls for Global Agreement on Social Media Speech Restrictions

By Kurt Zindulka 7 September 2024

Fresh off the crackdown on so-called “keyboard warriors” over social media posts connected to the recent anti-mass migration riots, leading leftist politicians in Britain are beginning to demand for new speech restrictions on the internet.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, whose neo-liberal Labour Party government enacted some of the strictest speech laws in modern British history, has joined the chorus of commentators demanding a new crackdown on social media.

Speaking to LBC Radio this week, Blair said: “The world is going to have to come together and agree on some rules around social media platforms.

“It’s not just how people can provoke hostility and hatred but I think… the impact on young people particularly when they’ve got access to mobile phones very young and they are reading a whole lot of stuff and receiving a whole lot of stuff that I think is really messing with their minds in a big way.

“I’m not sure what the answer is but I’m sure we need to find one.”

Blair was not alone in calling for new restrictions on social media. Earlier this week, the left-wing Speaker of the House Sir Lindsay Hoyle also said that the government should consider new limits against online speech.

“Misinformation is dangerous,” Hoyle said. “Social media is good but its also bad when people are using it in a way that could cause a riot, threat, intimidation, suggesting that we should attack somebody, it’s not acceptable.

“What we’ve got to do is factually correct what’s up there, if not I think the government has to think long and hard about what they are going to do about social media and what are they going to put through parliament as a bill.

“I believe it should be across, it doesn’t matter what country you are in, the fact is that misinformation is dangerous and no misinformation, or threats, or intimidation should be allowed to be carred out on social media platforms.”

Responding to Hoyle’s comments, the Free Speech Union wrote that it is “concerning to hear the Speaker of the Commons lumping ‘misinformation’ in with ‘incitement, threats and intimidation’ while talking up the need for greater cross-border censorship. Given that all statements of fact or opinion are provisional, who gets to define ‘misinformation’, and when?”

UK WWII Warship Regains Royal Status in Effort to Save it From Scrapping

Published Sep 6, 2024 8:23 PM by The Maritime Executive

The British monarch has moved to save a historic World War II warship from scrapping by approving its name change, a development that could be instrumental in helping a charity organization keep the ship afloat on the River Thames. The renaming, which they hope will raise the visibility of the vessel, coincides with the ship’s 90th birthday and 85th anniversary of Britain’s declaration of war on September 3, 1939.

King Charles approved the warship, Wellington, which is the only United Kingdom surviving vessel from the Battle of the Atlantic, to regain its His Majesty’s Ship (HMS title). Built in 1934, the 1,200-ton ship is the last of 13 Grimsby-class sloops built between the wars for the Royal Navy, Royal Australian Navy, and Royal Indian Navy for escort/anti-submarine duties. The ship lost her status when she was decommissioned from the Royal Navy in 1947.

The Wellington Trust, which is the custodian of the ship, has desperately been seeking to save her from scrapping through a campaign to raise £50,000 ($65,500) to support the maintenance efforts of the iconic vessel.

The ship is famed for its role in the Battle of the Atlantic, the longest battle of WWII. During the war, Wellington conducted 103 convoy escorts protecting vital maritime supply lines and merchant navy vessels making these dangerous voyages. The ship also saved hundreds of lives while conducting her convoy duties. Over the period of the war from September 1939 until its end in May 1945, more than 70,000 Allied navy and merchant sailors were killed while nearly 3,700 military and trade ships were lost.

Wellington was also instrumental in the destruction of a German U-boat and participated in Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk. The ship was among the vessels that survived the ordeal of Operation Dynamo in which more than 305 vessels were lost.

When she was decommissioned in 1947, Wellington was paid off and sent to Pembroke Broke for breaking up but was saved by the Honourable Company of Master Mariners. The ship then steamed for the last time to Chatham, where her engine was stripped out and the space was converted into a wood-paneled courtroom, along with other major modifications. Wellington was then towed to her current berth at Temple Stairs, Victoria Embankment where since 1948 she has remained moored near Temple station.

The ship is however facing a tough battle to continue to be a regular sight on London’s Embankment. In May, the Wellington Trust admitted challenges in keeping the ship afloat due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, rising cost of living, and the ship’s closure for a year of inspection and repair, factors that deeply affected its fundraising endeavors.

The Trust is now optimistic the name change will unlock donations for the conservation and preservation of the ship. The charity is hoping to raise at least £50,000 ($65,500). The funds will also support the implementation of a new business plan to make her more accessible to the public as a visitor attraction.

“This change of name in her 90th anniversary year is a true testament to her heritage as the sole surviving dedicated Battle of the Atlantic warship in Europe,” said Professor Dominic Tweddle, chairman of the Trust. “There is no better day for HMS Wellington to adopt her new name, on the 85th anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Atlantic.”

Historical accounts show the Battle of the Atlantic began on a Sunday with the sinking of the steamer SS Athenia which was torpedoed by a German U-boat killing 117 civilian passengers and crew. It ended just hours before the Germans surrendered in May 1945.

SHAME: Labour British PM Starmer and His Hellish Government Scrap Winter Fuel Payments for 10 Million Pensioners While Freeing 1,700 Prisoners, Including Dangerous Ones

by Paul Serran Sep. 11, 2024

Just two months into his premiership, Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer has started to unveil his true face, and enact odious policies that he purposefully hid from voters.

He began yesterday (10) with a whopper, ‘mugging pensioners and freeing muggers’.

Labour MPs were ordered to ram through a ‘cruel’ raid on pensioners, while simultaneously authorizing the early release of hundreds of prisoners – in a list that includes thieves, drug dealers and even killers.

Daily Mail reported:

“In sickening scenes this morning, freed inmates celebrated by soaking themselves in champagne. One former prisoner was met by friends in a Lamborghini while another boasted that he was now a ‘lifelong Labour voter’. Just hours later, ten million pensioners were stripped of their winter fuel payments as the party forced through the controversial measure in a Commons vote.”

Sir Keir’s true agenda is now being laid bare, as neither policy was mentioned in Labour’s election manifesto.

The Labour party even strenuously denying it would take away elderly voters’ energy subsidy during the campaign.

Labour ministers did what the left does so well – blamed the decisions on the legacy left behind by the precious Conservative government.

But senior Tories have charged the Prime Minister with deliberately concealing his ‘cruel, ideological’ approach from voters before the election.

“Tory leadership contender Robert Jenrick told the Mail: ‘The reality of Sir Keir Starmer’s Britain was laid bare today. Dangerous criminals popping champagne corks as they’re freed from our jails early and on to our streets because Labour has chosen the easy way out. And Sir Keir’s lies on protecting winter fuel payments exposed, with millions of pensioners now forced to pay the price this winter’.”

Immediately, the reaction from the population is being felt, as the PM’s approval ratings slumps by 30 points in the two months since he was elected. His net approval rating fell from plus 11 in July to minus 20 this week.

“Sir Keir spent much of the day at the TUC conference in Brighton where he was given a standing ovation by union bosses as he pledged to tear up anti-strike laws and introduce a raft of new rights for workers.

Meanwhile, at prisons across the country, convicted criminals celebrated with family and friends after being freed early under a scheme to reduce overcrowding.”

And despite Labour’s assurances, we are not talking about wrongfully incarcerated angels, here.

“Dozens of killers could be among the 5,500 prisoners freed over the next few weeks – with more than 1,700 released today. Another thug who shook a baby boy so hard he left him blind has also been approved for release.”

Dozens of Labour MPs abstained on the vote about the pensioners’ fuel subsidy cuts policy – which the party itself, in 2019, warned could kill 4,000 pensioners a year.

UK's Starmer, Canada's Trudeau, Pressure Biden To Escalate With Russia Despite Putin Warning Of 'War' With NATO

by Tyler Durden Friday, Sep 13, 2024

Kirby came out on Friday and told reporters that there's been no change in US policy regarding Ukraine using Western arms for long-rage strikes inside Russia. But the pressure is quickly ramping up: first Canada's Trudeau said he supports greenlighting this, despite Putin making clear this would mean 'direct war' between Russia and NATO, and now UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is coming out in support. According to breaking reporting in The Wall Street Journal:

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to urge President Biden on Friday during a visit to Washington to sign off on allowing Ukraine to use long-range European-made cruise missiles to strike targets deep inside Russia, according to U.S. and Western officials.

…A decision to lift a ban on Kyiv using the Storm Shadow missile, which can hit targets 155 miles away, to fire into Russia would be a major win for Ukraine, which has been urging Western countries for months to loosen restrictions on long-range weapons.

Yes, Zelensky has been essentially begging for it, but we highly doubt a "win" will follow especially given as we detailed below Putin still holds many cards, and would likely escalate attacks on Kiev in a big way.

"While the final decision on Storm Shadow will be made by the U.K. government, British officials will ask for the Biden administration to weigh in because some components of the missiles are made in the U.S.," WSJ continues in the Friday afternoon report.

Hours earlier, PM Trudeau made his position clear:

Canada fully supports Ukraine using long-range weaponry to "prevent and interdict Russia's continued ability to degrade Ukrainian civilian infrastructure", Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday.

Trudeau told reporters that Russian President Vladimir Putin was trying to deeply destabilize the international rules-based order and added: "That's why Canada and others are unequivocal that Ukraine must win this war against Russia."

That Western officials are still talking a "win" against Russia means this tragic conflict is about to take a whole new catastrophic turn and path of uncontrollable escalation based on their delusions.

However, Kirby has indicated that while it's hard to take everything Putin says at face value, these latest threats and red lines are being taken "seriously".

"The White House takes seriously Moscow's statements that lifting restrictions on strikes deep into Russia would mean direct NATO involvement in the war," said Rear Admiral Kirby, White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications.

Russian leadership has issued a follow-up statement to President Vladimir Putin's Thursday brief video address warning that if the US and UK authorize Ukraine to pursue long-range strikes on Russian soil, then NATO and the Russian Federation will be in an official state of war.

On Friday Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, informed the UN Security council that NATO countries would "start an open war" in allowing Western long-range missiles to target Russia.

"If such a decision is made, that means NATO countries are starting an open war against Russia," Moscow’s envoy introduced. "In that case, we will obviously be forced to make certain decisions, with all the attendant consequences for Western aggressors."

Titanic Shipyard Owner Harland & Wolff Set to Enter Administration This Week

Bloomberg September 16, 2024

The owner of the shipping yard that built the Titanic is entering administration, a type of insolvency procedure in the UK, for the second time in five years.

Harland & Wolff Group Holdings Plc, which has been on the brink after Britain’s new Labour government rejected the struggling business’s appeal for state support, confirmed the move on Monday.

The process will likely start this week, according to the company’s statement, with Teneo lined up as administrators. Harland & Wolff will cut some jobs and wind down non-core operations, including a ferry service on the Isles of Scilly — which lie to the south west of England — and a small business in the US. More job cuts could follow in core areas.

The company’s assets have attracted the attention of defense companies including Babcock International Group Plc, according to reports published last week, with advisers from Rothschild & Co. leading a sale process.Monday’s statement said a “number of parties” have expressed interest in buying some or all of its subsidiaries.

The company sought emergency funding earlier in the summer to avoid falling into administration for a second time, having previously collapsed in 2019. However, Labour ministers rejected a £200 million ($264 million) loan facility that had been provisionally agreed by the Conservative administration that they defeated in the July 4 election. That prompted the Harland & Wolff Chief Executive Officer John Wood to leave his role.

UK-based InfraStrata bought Harland & Wolff out of administration in 2019 as part of a wider bet on the industry. But a very high level of overdue sums owed to creditors and material losses across its business activities make the outlook for the group challenging, according to Monday’s statement.

As part of the attempts to grow the business, the firm joined a consortium led by Spain’s Navantia SA that won a contract to build three ships for the Royal Navy. The company has been in contact with the Spanish firm on the terms of a plan to be able to resume work on that project in the Belfast yard.

Unite, a trade union representing workers at Harland & Wolff’s Belfast and Appledore dockyards, issued a statement demanding urgent action to preserve the future of the company’s workforce. The union expressed a preference for a single buyer for all the company’s yards and called on the UK government to intervene if the right buyer isn’t found.

Jobs in the shipyards won’t be affected by the administration process, a government spokesperson said in an emailed statement. They added that the private sector was in the best position to resolve the situation, rather than leaning on taxpayers.

Sunken Bayesian Superyacht Reportedly Has Water-Tight Safes Suspected of Holding Top-Secret Documents and Confidential Data – Security Is Heightened at Shipwreck Site

by Paul Serran Sep. 22, 2024

Back in late August, the world’s headlines were filled with the dramatic tale of the wreck of the 184-foot Bayesian superyacht, owned by tech billionaire Mike Lynch, hit by a sudden squall of tornado-like waterspouts off the coast of Sicily.

The wreck cost the life of Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter Hannah, and five others guests, while Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, and 15 other people escaped the tragedy.

Now, the doomed vessel is back in the news, as is suspected that a trove of top-secret documents and confidential data on foreign governments could be trapped inside it.

The New York Post reported:

“Italian prosecutors ordered heightened security around the sunken boat to protect the sensitive information that they believe was stored in water-tight safes before the Aug. 19 tragedy, sources told CNN.

Among the loot are two super-encrypted hard drives that hold highly classified information, including passcodes and other sensitive data, tied to a number of Western intelligence services, an official involved in the salvage plans said.”

The hard drives are believed to belong to Lynch, associated with British, American, and other intelligence services through his various enterprises, including the cyber security company he founded, Darktrace.

Lynch also advised two former British prime ministers on science, technology, and cyber security.

“Shipwreck survivors previously told prosecutors that Lynch — dubbed the British Steve Jobs — ‘did not trust cloud services’ and always kept data drives in a secure compartment of the yacht wherever he sailed.”

The supposed information would be of interest to foreign governments, so Italian prosecutors, in an unusual move, requested that the yacht be guarded by both above-surface and underwater surveillance.

“’A formal request has been accepted and implemented for additional security of the wreckage until it can be raised’, an official with the Sicilian civil protection authority confirmed.”

The Bayesian will be monitored consistently until it is raised in the coming weeks.

Italian judiciary is investigating Captain James Cutfield to find out if he was responsible for the tragedy.

British PM Starmer’s Leftist Government Already in Turmoil, as His Own Labour Party Rejects His Plan of Cutting Winter Heating Subsidy for Pensioners

by Paul Serran Sep. 26, 2024

To say that Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government in the UK has started with the wrong foot is almost an understatement.

Involved in a scandal of irregularly accepting free clothes for his wife, paying an unacceptably high salary his chief of staff, and unveiling a slew of unpopular and tyrannical policies and legislation projects – it’s a mess.

His popularity immediately tanked as a considerable portion of voters have ‘buyers regret’ for supporting him.

Now, if things were not bad enough, HIS OWN PARTY has turned against him, as yesterday (25) members of his Labour Party dealt the Premier a blow, rejecting his decision to cut payments that offset winter heating costs for millions of retirees.

“The vote on the final day of Labour’s annual conference is not binding, but it’s a setback to Starmer’s efforts to unite his center-left party around the contentious measure.

Since winning office in July, Starmer has cautioned that the dire state of the public finances inherited from the last Conservative government means he must make hard choices such as ending the winter fuel allowance, worth between 200 and 300 pounds ($262 and $393), for all but the poorest pensioners.”

“’I do not understand how our new Labour government can cut the winter fuel payment for pensioners and leave the super-rich untouched’, said Sharon Graham, general secretary of the Unite union, to applause from delegates. ‘This is not what people voted for. It is the wrong decision and it needs to be reversed’.”

Starmer, for his part, promised the withdrawal of the heating allowance would be compensated by an ‘above-inflation increase in the state pension’ and other measures to reduce poverty.

Secretary Liz Kendall told delegates that “this Labour government has done more to help the poorest pensioners in the last two months than the Tories did in 14 years” – but they weren’t convinced.

“Starmer tried to unite the party and appeal to a skeptical electorate in his first conference speech as prime minister on Tuesday, telling voters exhausted by years of political and economic turmoil that better times are on the way — if they swallow his recipe of short-term pain for long-term gain.”

He will cut public spending and increase taxes to try to achieve economic growth ‘to fund schools, hospitals, roads, railways and more’.

“Starmer acknowledged some of those decisions would be unpopular, but said: ‘We will turn our collar up and face the storm’.”

‘Something Serious Afoot’: US Judge’s ‘Suspicious’ Prince Harry Visa Ruling Triggers Backlash

by Joe Saunders, The Western Journal Sep. 26, 2024

The conservative Heritage Foundation isn’t giving up on its battle to learn whether the U.K.’s Prince Harry got preferential treatment when being approved for a visa to live in the United States.

The group is considering an appeal of a judge’s ruling Monday that the Duke of Sussex, who has made millions publishing a memoir about the most intimate details of his life, can keep his visa application under wraps because of his right to “privacy.”

“The Prince Harry scandal just got a lot more suspicious,” Mike Howell, executive director of the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, said in a statement published to the social media platform X.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON GROWING PRINCE HARRY SCANDAL AND INCREASED PROSPECTS FOR DEPORTATION https://t.co/aaxx7FLBEK pic.twitter.com/oKhwPQHPez

— Oversight Project (@OversightPR) September 24, 2024

Howell cited parts of U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols’ ruling that redacted crucial details of Harry’s visa application as grounds to suspect the prince got preferential treatment from the U.S. government.

Nichols was appointed in 2019 by then-President Donald Trump.

His ruling has sparked a backlash from Heritage that shows the public battle isn’t disappearing any time soon.

“While our case is far from over as we explore appeal, I’d say that these very curious redactions point to something serious afoot,” Howell’s statement said.

Harry and his wife, the former actress Meghan Markle, moved to the U.S. in 2020 after stepping back from being active members of Britain’s royal family — and amid a rancorous relationship with that royal family that apparently hasn’t gotten any better.

It isn’t clear what kind of visa Harry obtained from the U.S. government, according to The Washington Post. His wife is an American citizen.

The Heritage Foundation sued the Department of Homeland Security in 2023 to make public details of Harry’s visa application.

In the lawsuit, the group contended that disclosures about drug use Harry made in his bestselling memoir “Spare” could have made him ineligible for legal residency in the U.S.

It also contended Harry has waived any rights to “privacy” by his own very public actions.

“To be sure, even public figures have privacy interests,” the lawsuit stated. “This is particularly so as regards the aspects of their life that are not implicated by their public status and which they take steps to separate from their public life and keep confidential.

“The Duke of Sussex, however, has made the affirmative choice to put almost every aspect of his life on display — including those aspects traditionally kept private by public figures. In so doing, he has publicized not only his own most personal and private moments, but also those of HM the King, HRH The Prince and Princess of Wales, and the late HM the Queen. Moreover, these revelations have been made explicitly for massive commercial gain.” (Italics in the original.)

The lawsuit is an attempt “to force the Biden administration to publish his application to determine whether Harry lied or was granted preferential treatment because of his royal status,” Newsweek magazine’s chief royal correspondent Jack Royston wrote.

In his statement, Howell said it was a simple matter of fairness.

“Americans deserve an immigration system with both secure borders and also fairly applied rules for high-profile immigrants like Harry,” the statement said.

“It certainly appears that Harry was given special treatment and now we know it’s for something so serious that it involves extensive redactions.”

In one curious passage cited by the Oversight Project, Nichols’ ruling stated:

“In particular, the summary judgment record reflects that the Duke has never disclosed publicly (among other things) the following facts,” with the “facts” blacked out.

The next legible sentence stated: “That is the ‘type of information that a person would ordinarily not wish to make known about himself’ and therefore the government has demonstrated that the Duke retains a privacy interest in these records.”

UK Says Goodbye To Coal

Via OilPrice.com, Friday, Sep 27, 2024

The closure of Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station marks the end of coal-fired electricity generation in the UK.

This shift is part of the UK's commitment to achieving net zero emissions and transitioning to renewable energy sources like wind and solar power.

The UK is the first G7 country to phase out coal entirely, demonstrating a significant step towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

The UK’s last remaining coal-fired power station is to shut at the end of September, drawing to a close Britain’s 142-year reliance on the fossil fuel to produce electricity.

Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station has been generating electricity since 1968 via its four coal-fired boilers, eight vast cooling towers and 199-metre tall chimney, which occupies a prominent spot in the East Midlands skyline.

It is able to power about two million homes and has been the last station of its kind in the UK since September 2023, when Northern Ireland’s Kilroot power station stopped producing electricity from coal.

On September 30, Ratcliffe will close for the final time. Many of the 170 people employed by the plant’s owner, Uniper, will stay on to help with the two-year decommissioning process.

Ratcliffe’s closure puts a full stop on the country’s use of coal for electricity, which began with the Holborn Viaduct power station in London in 1882, the first of its type in the world.

Coal went on to play a major role in the national energy supply throughout the 20th century and accounted for about 80 per cent of UK power in 1990, falling to 39 per cent in 2012.

Since then, 15 coal power plants closed or switched fuels and last year the fossil fuel made up just one per cent of the UK’s supply, according to data from National Grid’s Electricity System Operator.

Meanwhile, renewables, mainly wind and solar power, now make up more than half of the mix, according to Government statistics. Gas has also played a part in the switch, rising from 28 per cent of the power mix in 2012 to 34 per cent last year.

Dhara Vyas, deputy chief executive of Energy UK, said:

“Ten years ago, coal was the leading source of this country’s power – generating a third of our electricity.

“So, to get to this point just a decade later, with coal’s contribution replaced by clean and low carbon sources, is an incredible achievement.

“As we aim for further ambitious targets in the energy transition, it’s worth remembering that few back then thought such a change at such a pace was possible.”

While the likes of Sweden and Belgium were among the first in Europe to phase out coal entirely, the UK will be the first country in the G7 bloc of major world economies to reach the milestone.

France, by comparison, has given itself until 2027 to complete the phase-out, Canada will follow suit until 2030. Germany, on current plans, will not do it until 2038.

But next comes the far larger task of significantly reducing the use of gas and further ramping up renewables, as the newly-elected Labour Government seeks to hit net zero emissions from electricity generation by 2030.

Its first steps were to set up a new state-owned energy investment company, GB Energy, and to lift a de facto ban on new onshore wind projects in the planning system in England.

The Government also handed out contracts for a new wave of green power projects in early September, including onshore and offshore wind and solar farms, which officials said will generate enough power for 11 million homes, in its annual auction.

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband said recently that switching to clean power is not just about fighting climate change, but energy security, after rocketing gas prices in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine caused consumer bills to spiral in 2022 and 2023.

Jess Ralston, head of energy at the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit, said the swift transition from coal to renewables “shows how possible it is to make the net zero electricity transition”.

Naomi Campbell Disqualified From Being a Charity Trustee in England for Five Years – Charity Money Spent in Luxury Hotels, Spa Treatments, Room Service and Even Cigarettes

by Paul Serran Sep. 27, 2024

Controversial former British supermodel Naomi Campbell is now barred from being a charity trustee in England and Wales for five years after a three-year investigation by the UK’s Charity Commission.

This comes after the two decades-old poverty charity was deemed yesterday (26) to have been ‘poorly governed’ with ‘inadequate financial management’.

The Charity Commission investigation into the financial activities of ‘Fashion for Relief’ found ‘multiple instances of misconduct and/or mismanagement’, and discovered that that only 8.5% of the charity’s overall expenditure went on charitable grants in a six-year period from 2016.

Associated Press reported:

“For example, it said that thousands of pounds worth of charity funds were used to pay for a luxury hotel stay in Cannes, France, for Campbell as well as spa treatments, room service and even cigarettes. The regulator sought explanations from the trustees but said no evidence was provided to back up their explanation that hotel costs were typically covered by a donor to the charity, therefore not costing the charity.”

Campbell has stated she is ‘extremely concerned’ by the findings of the regulator, and that an internal investigation was underway.

“’I was not in control of my charity, I put the control in the hands of a legal employer’, she said in response to a question from the AP after being named a knight in France’s Order of Arts and Letters at the country’s culture ministry for her contribution to French culture. ‘We are investigating to find out what and how, and everything I do and every penny I ever raised goes to charity’.”

The UK’s Charity Commission registers and regulates charitable entities in England and Wales.

It also found that fellow trustee Bianka Hellmich received around 290,000 pounds ($385,000) of unauthorized funds for consultancy services which was in breach of the charity’s constitution.

Hellmich has been disqualified as a trustee for nine years, while the other trustee, Veronica Chou, was barred for four years.

“’Trustees are legally required to make decisions that are in their charity’s best interests and to comply with their legal duties and responsibilities’, said Tim Hopkins, deputy director for specialist investigations and standards. ‘Our inquiry has found that the trustees of this charity failed to do so, which has resulted in our action to disqualify them’.

The charity, which was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, was dissolved and removed from the register of charities earlier this year. On its website, which is still active, the charity said that it presented fashion initiatives and projects in New York, London, Cannes, Moscow, Mumbai and Dar es Salaam, raising more than $15 million for good causes around the world.”

Campbell’s charity was set up with the aim of uniting the fashion industry to relieve poverty and advance health and education.

The UK’s Charity commission said that around $460,000 has been recovered and that a further 98,000 pounds of charitable funds have been protected.

British Government Warns Of Weak Military - Says Civilians Must Be 'Ready To Fight'

by Tyler Durden Saturday, Sep 28, 2024

The British House of Lords has published a report claiming that military recruitment is dangerously low and the country's combat readiness is at risk. They say the civilian population 'must be ready to fight' (a clear reference to military conscription) should war with Russia be triggered.

The paper, titled 'Ukraine: A Wake-Up Call', admits to weaknesses in NATO's assumptions on "deterrence", though it seems to pretend as if Ukraine is part of NATO when it's not. Chaired by Lord de Mauley, the committee launched the inquiry in February 2024, two years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with the goal of assessing the conflict’s implications for UK defence policy.

"…We identified two key lessons. First, our deterrence strategy towards Russia clearly failed. If we are to restore the credibility of NATO’s nuclear and conventional deterrence posture towards Putin, we must develop a clearer understanding of the reasons for this failure."

"Secondly, the invasion exposed significant weaknesses in both the UK’s and NATO’s military strength, and the UK's ability to sustain large-scale warfare. Successive governments have attempted to maintain the notion of the UK as a global power, but the war in Ukraine has been a wake-up call, laying bare the gap between that ambition and reality."

It should be noted that February was near the beginning of Russia's attrition based offensive that is poised to take control of the entire Donbas region of Ukraine. This was well after Ukraine's much hyped "counter-offensive" which ended with an embarrassing whimper.

The report paints a concerning picture of the British Army’s ability to contribute adequately to NATO’s deterrence strategy. It states:

“All in all, the evidence we heard points to the current size of the British Army being inadequate. While size is not the only measure of capability, we are concerned that the Army cannot, as currently constituted, make the expected troop contribution to NATO. We therefore question whether the British Army is prepared to meet the growing threat posed by Russia to European security.”

The current size of the British Army is 75,166 regular troops and 183,000 personnel across all branches. Keep in mind only 80,000 of these personnel would play a front line combat role. If the casualty numbers coming out of Ukraine are anywhere close to accurate this would not be enough troops to sustain a single year of combat in an attrition based war.

The House of Lords called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to develop a plan that “resonates with citizens, emphasizing the importance of national security in their daily lives and moving beyond the notion that defense is solely the military’s responsibility”.

The paper also warned that while there was a risk that conversations around civilians “could end up veering into discussions around conscription”, the government had “an opportunity to broaden this out and consider how it could incorporate the whole of society in building resilience”.

The real question is, why would the British public fight for the current government? Military recruitment relies heavily on true patriots and a sense of national identity, but Keir Starmer and government overall has made it quite clear that they intend to erase indigenous Anglo-Saxon British identity through forced mass immigration from third-world countries. Starmer has even gone so far as to arrest British citizens simply for posting critical opinions on social media.

The House of Lords acts bewildered as to why the civilian population has little interest in military readiness. Maybe it's because the British government has gone full Orwellian? The average westerner is not going to go to war to risk their lives for a system that oppresses them. This is why recruitment is at all time lows and why conscription would be useless.

Another factor which likely plays a considerable part in public apprehension is the threat of WWIII. The majority of people in the west have little enthusiasm over engaging in a war that could very well lead to a global nuclear exchange, especially over a country like Ukraine which, for them, is insignificant. There is nothing to be gained.

SS Richard Montgomery: The Ticking Time Bomb Beneath the Thames Estuary

Alex Bering September 30, 2024

Off the coast of Sheerness in Kent, England, lies one of the world’s most dangerous shipwrecks. The SS Richard Montgomery, a US Liberty Ship built in 1943 during World War II, rests precariously on a sandbank in the Thames Estuary. Its deadly cargo—approximately 1,400 tons of unexploded ordnance—remains entombed within its deteriorating hull.

The SS Richard Montgomery’s ill-fated journey began in August 1944 when it joined convoy HX-301. Laden with 7,000 tons of munitions bound for the UK and Cherbourg, France, the ship met disaster on August 20, 1944.

While navigating the Thames Estuary, its anchor failed to hold in shallow waters, causing it to drag along the seabed. The massive vessel ground to a halt on a sandbank perilously close to the busy Medway Approach Channel.

In the aftermath, a frantic race against time ensued. Salvage teams worked tirelessly to offload the dangerous cargo, but their efforts were thwarted. Only about half the munitions were removed before disaster struck. The ship’s hull, weakened by stress, succumbed to the relentless sea. Water flooded the holds, forcing salvage teams to abandon their efforts—leaving behind a ticking time bomb on the ocean floor.

Today, more than seven decades later, the SS Richard Montgomery remains where it sank, a silent sentinel of past conflicts. Its rusted masts protrude above the water’s surface at all tide levels, a stark reminder of the danger lurking beneath.

While opinions on the danger vary, some experts believe an explosion could generate a massive wave up to 40 feet high, potentially devastating nearby Sheerness and impacting an area stretching from Margate to central London.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) regularly monitors the wreck’s condition. A recent survey in October 2023 raised alarm bells. The report revealed, “The whole forward section of the wreck appears to have an increase in lean, approximately 10-15cm, eastward.” This shift could destabilize the delicate balance of unexploded ordnance. Furthermore, “The deck space near hold 3 appears to have started to collapse on the port side,” indicating the vessel’s weakening structural integrity.

While authorities maintain that “the risk of a major explosion is believed to be remote,” the wreck’s gradual decay is undeniable. The site’s potential danger has led to its classification under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973, establishing a strictly enforced no-entry exclusion zone to minimize accidental detonation risks and protect maritime traffic and nearby communities.

Medway Ports, under MCA contract, has implemented comprehensive safeguards. Warning notices on the wreck’s visible masts remind passing vessels of the underlying danger. A ring of buoys demarcates the exclusion zone, and 24-hour radar surveillance detects and prevents unauthorized incursions.

As the SS Richard Montgomery slowly decays, questions arise about long-term management and resolution of this explosive dilemma. While current measures mitigate immediate risks, the wreck’s presence serves as a poignant reminder of war’s enduring consequences and the complex challenges of managing such hazardous sites.

The Thames Estuary time bomb not only poses a physical threat but also raises ethical and environmental concerns about conflict’s legacy and our responsibility to address these dangerous remnants of the past.

I wonder what would happen if..

Ring police, >I’d like to report a group of crows, murder of crows sorry murder.

Which murder, the one that will happen on nov 5th, bonfire night. Remember remember the fifth of November.

“The Fifth of November” nursery rhyme commemorates the day in November 1605 when Guy Fawkes, along with a group of Roman Catholics, attempted and failed to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Every year fabulous firework displays are a feature throughout England on the night of November 5th. A week prior to this day, children make effigies of Guy Fawkes, which they take from one door to another, asking for ‘A penny for the Guy’.’ On bonfire night, these effigies are burnt on top of a bonfire. “The Fifth of November” song is also known as “Remember, Remember the Fifth of November” or “Please to Remember” rhyme.

Here is the modern and the most used version of the rhyme:

Remember, remember
The Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.

Holla boys, Holla boys, Let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him?
Burn him!

Ok, so how long has pre programming been in place.

This has been around for 400 years.

Not sure why election day falls at this point, we have always celebrated as bonfire night was and still is his birthday. He passed a few years ago. Matt Hancock wanker, authorising unthinazia mix of cocktails .

Please prey, the cable will crumble on the 5th of November

GOD BLESS TRUMP AND ALL WHO BELIEVE.

King Charles's six-word statement that could cost Britain £200 BILLION during Australia tour

By Douglas Dickie 14 OCT 2024

The monarch has previously spoken of the evils of slavery and that could give Caribbean nations a foothold in claims for reparations from the UK

A six-word statement made by King Charles two years ago could end up costing the UK £200 billion this month as he heads off for a trip to Australia. The monarch will spend 11 days Down Under and has even paused his cancer treatment to ensure his full focus is on his duties.

But he is expected to face demands that the UK pay the monumental sum in compensation to some Commonwealth nations for its role in the Transatlantic slave trade. And they will likely point to previous statements made by Charles on the subject.

The King will attend a Commonwealth summit alongside Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in Samoa during the trip to Australia. Fifteen Caribbean governments want to put slavery reperations on the table, with Barbados, which ditched the Queen as head of state in 2021, leading the calls.

The island nation's Prime Minister Mia Mottley will likely point to comments made by Charles in 2022, just weeks before he ascended to the throne. In particular, she was impressed with his statement that slavery is "a conversation whose time has come," according to reports in the Daily Mail.

In a hugely significant speech, given on behalf of the late Queen Elizabeth, Charles said he was trying to "deepen my own understanding of slavery's enduring impact", adding: "I cannot describe the depths of my personal sorrow at the suffering of so many."

He has continued to comment on the issue and in April 2023 backed research into his own family's links with slavery. The meeting will take place amid an increase in republican sentiment in the Caribbean.

The £200 billion figure on the table may be just the start with some suggesting Britain should fork out an astonishing £19 trillion. It is estimated the UK transported over three million slaves from Africa to the Americas and by the start of the 18th century, the UK was the biggest trader of slaves in the world. The trading of slaves was outlawed in 1807 while the practice was scrapped in the colonies in 1833.

UK Snubs Council Of Europe Over Assange Inquiry

by Tyler Durden Sunday, Oct 27, 2024

Britain’s Home Office is making a "grave mistake" by ignoring a call from the Council of Europe to review its treatment of Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder’s wife has warned. The council’s parliamentary assembly, of which the UK is a member, passed a resolution earlier this month designating Assange as a "political prisoner".

Assange endured five years in Belmarsh maximum security prison in London before being released in June, and flying to his native Australia. The UK government had incarcerated him while the U.S. pursued extradition proceedings in the British courts.

His treatment has outraged the Council of Europe, which was created in the aftermath of World War II with strong backing from Winston Churchill.

Its resolution urged the U.K. authorities to conduct a review “with a view to establishing whether he [Assange] has been exposed to torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, pursuant to their international obligations”.

It found the U.K. authorities

“failed to effectively protect Mr Assange’s freedom of expression and right to liberty, exposing him to lengthy detention in a high-security prison despite the political nature of the most severe charges against him.”

Declassified asked Britain’s Home Office what its response was to the Council of Europe’s call. The government department deflected the question, replying: “The longstanding extradition request for Julian Assange has been resolved. As is standard practice, all extradition requests are considered on an individual basis by our independent courts and in accordance with U.K. law.”

The demands of the parliamentary assembly are not binding on European governments but they are “obliged to respond”.

‘Cover-Up’

Stella Assange, Julian’s wife, told Declassified the Home Office is making a “grave mistake” in refusing to heed the Council of Europe’s call. She said:

“We know that the Crown Prosecution Service has disappeared key documents relating to Julian’s imprisonment and refused to provide information, first to a journalist, and now to the court, that might shed a light on the political side of Julian’s persecution in the U.K..

“It is one thing for rogue elements in the CPS to collude with foreign governments to persecute a publisher and attempt to cover their tracks. It is quite another for the U.K. government to stonewall in this manner in the wake of an independent report by the Council of Europe and a vote by the overwhelming majority of the chamber calling on the U.K. to carry out an investigation.”

She added:

“The U.K. government is effectively partaking in the cover-up, in a way that only a guilty party would.”

‘Psychological Torture’

Assange’s detention in maximum security Belmarsh was “out of proportion in relation to his alleged offence”, the Council of Europe’s resolution found.

It recalled the findings of the then United Nations special rapporteur on torture, Nils Melzer, that Assange had been exposed to “progressively severe forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the cumulative effects of which can only be described as psychological torture”.

Melzer’s report, produced in 2019 while Assange had secured asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, called on U.K. officials to be investigated for possible “criminal conduct” in their treatment of Assange. It was never reported in the U.K. national media.

The Council of Europe found that the U.K. authorities “appear to have ignored” Melzer’s findings. Its resolution was passed with 88 in favour, 13 against and 20 abstentions. All four U.K. members of the parliamentary assembly voted against, including Lord Richard Keen, a Conservative peer, who expressed a dissenting opinion.

‘Chilling Effect’

The Council of Europe concluded that the treatment of Assange “creates a dangerous chilling effect and a climate of self-censorship affecting all journalists, publishers and others reporting matters essential for the functioning of a democratic society”.

It added: “It severely undermines the role of the press and the protection of journalists and whistle-blowers around the world.”

The resolution also noted that the Council was “alarmed” by reports that the US Central Intelligence Agency had covertly surveyed Assange while he was in the Ecuadorian embassy in London and was allegedly developing plans to poison or even assassinate him on U.K. soil.

Rebecca Vincent, campaigns director at Reporters Without Borders, told us that Julian Assange’s sentencing by U.K. courts to 50 weeks in prison for breaking bail was “disproportionate”.

She added: “His subsequent prolonged detention in a high-security prison with no charges against him in the U.K., held purely on remand, constituted a gross violation of his rights.”

Suspect in UK Mass Stabbing that Killed Three Young Girls Faces Additional Terrorism and Biological Weapon Offenses

by Margaret Flavin Oct. 29, 2024

In July, The Gateway Pundit reported on the horrifying knife attack in Southport in the northwest of England that left three young children dead, five others in critical condition, and two adults wounded.

The murdered children were nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar, six-year-old Bebe King, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe.

According to AP, a witness described seeing bloodied children running from a community center where a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event for children aged about 6 to 11 was taking place.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and police reported that they had detained a 17-year-old male suspect and seized the weapon.

Following the attack, protestors took to the streets in 35 towns and cities across the Kingdom. They were branded “thugs” that were “clearly driven by far-right hatred” by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who then began a crackdown on free speech in the country.

Now it has been revealed the stabbing suspect, Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, allegedly has terrorist ties.

The National Report reveals that Rudakubana has been charged with terror offenses and authorities allege he downloaded an al-Qaeda instruction manual.

The National Report:

Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, a migration-background teenager suspected of stabbing three young girls aged just six, seven, and nine to death and injuring several others, has been revealed to have ties to radical Islamic extremism. He not only possessed jihadist terrorisminstructions but also tried to procure the deadly nerve agent ricin.

While poison and the manual were found in his home, police have only released the information now, three months after the stabbing attack took place in late July.

The Southport attacker has now been charged with Terrorism offences. Perhaps I was right all along. pic.twitter.com/WxYO5jPzeu

— Nigel Farage MP (@Nigel_Farage) October 29, 2024

Chief Constable Serena Kennedy made the following statement, “Today, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized Axel Rudakubana, aged 18, from Banks in Lancashire, to be charged with two further offenses.”

“Axel Rudakubana already faces three charges of murder, 10 charges of attempted murder, and one charge of possession of a knife – all relating to the incident at Hart Street, Southport, on 29 July 2024.

“The two further offenses relate to evidence obtained by Merseyside Police during searches of Axel Rudakubana’s home address, as part of the lengthy and complex investigation that followed the events of 29 July 2024.”

The additional charges include:

1. Production of a biological toxin, namely ricin, contrary to Section 1 of the Biological Weapons Act 1974.

2. Possessing information, namely a pdf file entitled “Military Studies in the Jihad Against the Tyrants: The Al-Qaeda.
