The only authority VP Pence had once legitimate, valid objections were presented from both chambers was to adjourn the electoral session, send both chambers back to their respective houses to debate, investigate and render a decision if the state electoral certifications in question were legitimate or not. Donald Trump is running for president again in 2024. But there was a brief period earlier this month when the former president was also running for speaker.

Let’s establish a couple of facts:

The House has never had a non-member serve as the speaker of the House. But the Constitution and House rules allow for the possibility of non-lawmakers to serve as speaker.

"(These are) unprecedented times and the Constitution allows it. This just not just an ordinary person that we would be bringing in as speaker," added Greene about Trump.

So someone who is NOT a lawmaker could certainly serve as House speaker. But specifically, what about former President Trump?

Trump is facing trial on multiple felony indictments in various jurisdictions. House Rule XXIII states that members indicted for a crime "which a sentence of two or more years’ imprisonment may be imposed... should step aside from any party caucus or leadership position."

Note that it says "should." And the House rule alludes to "caucus" or conference leadership slots. So, that means former President Trump could serve, regardless of his legal woes.

And so the former president floated his name for speaker shortly after the House showed McCarthy the door. (That is not how it played out, he only responded when he was nominated. Trump didn’t float his name, he basically said he would help if needed. Chad is twisting the truth) "All I can say is we'll do whatever is best for the country and for the Republican Party," Trump said…

Fox even confirmed that Trump planned at one point to attend the House GOP’s "candidate forum" for House speakers – even though he’s not a member of the House nor a member of the House Republican Conference.

"I don’t think the Lord Jesus Himself could get to 217 (votes) with this conference," groused Nehls. "So I’m going to start recommending Donald J. Trump as our speaker for 100 days. We could bring him for 100 days. I think it would be fantastic. I think it would show unity."

But that’s the issue with Trump as a possible speaker.

• He could be speaker – but not an actual member of the House.

• He could be speaker – but could not vote on the House floor.

• He could be speaker – but not a member and thus potentially exempt from House rules that instruct lawmakers not to serve in leadership positions if they face serious criminal charges.

=In short, a hypothetical Trump speakership would be the "duck-billed platypus" of politics==.

The duck-billed platypus is a mammal. But its classification defies many scientific norms.

The creature has abill. It features webbed feet andspews venom. Those characteristics aren’t consistent with mammals. That led some 18th-century scientists to question whether theduck-billed platypus was really a reptile– or even some sort of species in transition. (you have Chad’s comparison of Trump, as possibly a “reptile and venomous”, plus an insinuation it would be costly to reps because the creature has a “bill”, and Trump is undefinable and unknown in politics)

Mammals, ranging from humans to elephants, give birth to their young. The duck-billed platypus lays eggs.

It’s hard to figure out.

And so would a non-member serving as House speaker…

But a Trump speakership? It’s unlikely to happen.But like the duckbilled platypus, would be difficult to categorize in political taxonomy. (This is not what Chad was inferring from my interpretation, otherwise he would not have described the creature as “venomous” or “laying eggs”, both have negative connotations. This is recovery play seems to try to downplay the obvious insult.)

The US government has become incredibly crafty and underhanded when it comes to funneling our hard-earned tax dollars to corrupt Ukraine. While folks in Ukraine enjoy the spoils, Americans struggle to put food on the table and stay safe amid skyrocketing crime rates. We’re the ones who actually need help, but we just keep sending endless billions to Zelensky and his cronies, with seemingly no concern at all or end in sight… oh, and no demands for “peace talks” either, for some unknown reason.

And just wait until you hear the latest scheme from our uni-party regime. They’re fully aware you don’t want to keep funding Ukraine, so they’re resorting to deceptive tactics to make it happen. This is how much they hate you:

They are going to try to ram through $105 billion in extra spending. The want everyone to have to only take one vote that will fully fund their Ukraine war until 2025. They know Ukraine funding if it were voting on by itself would be very difficult. But by bundling it with Israel and a bunch of other pork to buy votes, then they can get $60 billion for Ukraine. Of the total $105 billion, $60 billion is just for Ukraine.

Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden can barely string sentences together. Talk about a “meeting of the minds,” right? What minds? These are two senile, confused elderly men who don’t even know what year it is, and they’re making decisions on how to squander our hard-earned money. It’s infuriating beyond words at this point.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is openly championing President Joe Biden’s push to bundle Ukraine and Israel aid together while also wishing for a “functional” House.

Biden delivered a his second primetime Oval Office address last Thursday seeking to gin up support for the White House’s proposed roughly $106 billion package entailing $61.4 billion for Ukraine, $14.3 billion for Israel, and $30.1 billion for other projects like border security.

“It’s correct. No Americans are getting killed in Ukraine. We’re rebuilding our industrial base. The Ukrainians are destroying the army of one of our biggest rivals. I have a hard time finding anything wrong with that,” McConnell (R-Ky.) told CBS’ “Face the Nation” in an interview that aired Sunday.

Dozens of Republican lawmakers in both the House and Senate have publicly implored the Biden administration to decouple aid to Israel and Ukraine.

In particular, detractors have been peeved about aid to war-torn Ukraine, while largely being supportive of assistance to Israel. Congress has authorized over $113 billion to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, though not all of that money has been sent over.

Americans understand that we’re broke and in debt up to our eyeballs. We don’t have the funds to be funneling to Ukraine, especially when there’s no oversight and the country is rife with both neo-Nazis and rampant corruption. Ukraine also serves as the epicenter for the Biden Crime Family’s illicit operations. This is why they’re trying to slip it through; they know it wouldn’t pass on its own merits. Our government doesn’t represent the people who elected them, and unfortunately, this has been the case for a really long time. If we don’t oust these government parasites who are enriching themselves at our expense, we’ll continue to spiral downward, and we’ll have no one to blame but ourselves.

The accused men include some of the most well-known powerbrokers in the multibillion-dollar fashion industry and were often named by multiple women — in one case, seven — for alleged sexual misconduct.

Among them: Patrick Demarchelier, who was Princess Diana’s personal photographer; David Bellemere, whose photos have appeared on the covers of Elle and Marie Claire Italy; and Greg Kadel, who has shot for mega brands like Victoria’s Secret and Vogue.

Consider the case of photographer Patrick Demarchelier, who has maintained superstar status despite allegations that he has long preyed on young women.

Russell’s Instagram posts led one of Demarchelier’s former photo assistants to write in October to Vogue editor Anna Wintour about relentless advances by Demarchelier beginning when she was a 19-year-old intern, according to an e-mail reviewed by the Globe.

As his subordinate, she told the Globe, she eventually gave in to his sexual demands, feeling that she could not continue to reject him without endangering her position. When she did resist, she said, he would later berate her on the job.

Media: ‘Biden’s Economy Is Great Everywhere’ — Except Where It Counts

Sunday night, I hated myself for spending $6.99 plus tax on a blasted can of ReddiWhip (What can I say? The weekend wrought a homemade pumpkin pie situation and thus whipped cream desperation). Needless to say, that fresh sticker shock made it easy Monday morning to hate The Washington Post for running an article titled “Biden’s Economy Is Great Everywhere Except in the Polls.”

In it, Matthew Yglesiastreats readers to 800 words of Biden slobbery, lamenting poll results showing a majority of swing-state voters preferred Donald Trump’s economy over Joe Biden’s and that only 35 percent trust the incumbent on the issue. (Independents trust Biden even less, with only 25 percent.)

“As the US economy continues to improve, President Joe Biden continues to not get credit for it,” Yglesias whines. (That is too funny and ridiculous)

When your job is to run public relations for Democrats, your strategy becomes spin over self-reflection. That’s why, to comfort himself and other Democrats, Yglesias instantly looks outward, comparing Biden to other leaders of the free world. “[T]he trend is clear,” he says. “Incumbents of all ideological flavors are losing everywhere and are almost universally unpopular.”

Those comparisons would only really work, though, if Japan were no different than Germany, and Germany were no different than the United States. And since when can approval ratings be boiled down strictly to the value of the dollar? Maybe that’s why Yglesias doesn’t dwell on that losing argument too long.

The problem is that when it comes to Biden’s approval, all the arguments are losing ones. Thus the media resort to doing what they always do: telling you to stop believing your lying eyes.

According to Yglesias — and, if you’ve been paying attention, the rest of the “inflation-is-cooling” media — the inflation situation is “greatly improved,” “Americans’ inflation-adjusted net worth surged between 2019 and 2022, and real incomes are up as well,” the bounceback from government-mandated Covid lockdowns were “rapid” and “robust,” and Americans are definitely better off than they were before.

See, the real problem is those incredulous voters whose memories serve them better than the commander-in-chief’s. If only they would just “forgive and forget.”

But it’s hard to “forget” your present reality. Just ask the dad slapping another layer of duct tape on the minivan bumper because outlandish used-car prices mean even a modest upgrade isn’t feasible. Or any coupon-clipping mother in the grocery store, who’s likely paying some 70 percent more to feed her family than just a few years ago, a number not reflected in the consumer price index. Americans priced out of air travel can’t expect to find road trip-friendly prices at the pump. And forget graduating from renter to homeowner. In this competitive market, rapidly rising interest rates just add insult to injury with each rejected offer….
