The federal budget deficit rose to $1.7 trillion in fiscal 2023, according to data released Friday by the Treasury Department. The gulf between how much money the federal government spent and made in revenue rose by $320 billion between fiscal 2023 — which ended September 30 — and the previous fiscal year. The fiscal 2023 budget deficit was equal to 6.3 percent of U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), up from 5.4 percent in fiscal 2022. Biden administration officials attributed to spike in the deficit to a steep drop in federal revenue, which rose sharply during rapid economic rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Humans can’t live without war’, Christian patriarch laments

The world should still strive to minimize the effects of hostilities, the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church has said

Armed conflicts appear to be an integral part of humanity’s existence, the chief bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, said on Thursday. That does not mean the international community cannot or should not seek to minimize the human costs and suffering associated with them, he said at the religious festival ‘Faith & Word’ being held in Moscow Region.

“Unfortunately, one has to admit that humanity appears to beunable to live without war,”the patriarch said, addingthat it is a part of “the corrupt human nature.”People around the world should still strive to overcome those destructive tendencies, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church believes.

”We can and [we] must minimize… harm resulting from hostilities, if they do break out,” the patriarch stated. His words came amid the continuing conflict between Moscow and Kiev and a fresh escalation between Israel and the Gaza-based Palestinian Hamas militant group.

Kirill then said that peoples that share the same faith and beliefs have an even stronger obligation to do so. The church leader was particularly referring to Russians and Ukrainians, who have been locked in a protracted struggle lasting for more than a year and a half. Those two peoples “come from a single baptismal font,” he added.

His speech came just a day after the Ukrainian parliament approved in the first reading a bill aimed at essentially banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) over its links to Moscow.

Bill 8371 officially envisages prohibiting any religious organization “linked to Russia.” Its authors maintain that it would still “allow citizens of Ukraine to realize the right to freedom of worldview and religion guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine.”

President Vladimir Zelensky’s government considers theUOC – which traces its roots to the conversion of Kievan Rus to Christianity over 1,000 years ago– to fit the definition outlined in the bill since it maintains communion with the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church led by Patriarch Kirill.

The UOC has faced persecution in Ukraine since the start of the conflict. The church has seen its property, including the iconic Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, one of the country’s oldest monasteries, seized by government agents. Its activities have also been outlawed in several western regions of Ukraine.

Despite the persecution, the UOC remains the largest denomination in the country. It includes the Kiev archdiocese, some 50 other dioceses, and about 9,000 individual parishes.

The Ukrainian government set up a rival organization, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), which was declared autocephalous – i.e., fully independent – by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul in 2019.

The UOC denounced Russia over its decision to launch a military operation in Ukraine back in February 2022. Yet, it did not declare itself autocephalous from the Moscow Patriarchate. Russia has repeatedly condemned what it calls persecution of the UOC, while the US has turned a blind eye to the issue.

Adding to the mystery is another bombshell that relates to the events of 9/11. A well-known Twitter account, ‘WallStreetApes,’ recently shared a revealing post and video from Glenn Beck. The post highlights the media’s glaring silence on a document endorsed by 11 former FBI agents and two former CIA agents. This document alleges that the CIA was not only aware of the 9/11 hijackers but actively recruited them and hid their plans from the FBI.

Wow, this news might come as a shock, but believe it or not, some folks have been saying this for decades.

Anons assumed all of the Victoria Embankment pics were taken from a ‘traffic cam’ when a close analysis of their fields of view shows the ‘NSA Traffic cam’ had legs and that some of the pics were taken whilst descending those stairs, one of them being taken at street level looking over the roof of a passing car. Loud, mysterious boom Hillsborough confirmed as an earthquake

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) – A cause of the mysterious loud boom that shook buildings and startled many people in Hillsborough on Thursday has been confirmed.

Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) sent ABC11 this statement confirming it was an earthquake.

"We can confirm that it indeed was an earthquake. These small earthquakes often do not get picked up by our computer algorithms because they are so small. When we got felt reports, an analyst looked at it but initially thought it was a quarry blast because it is right near a quarry (visible on Google Earth). Re-examining it this morning, though, we confirmed that it was an earthquake."

USGS said it registered as a 2.2 magnitude quake.

Seymour Johnson AFB also sent ABC11 a confirmation that they didn't have any Fighter jets in the area on Thursday.

It happened shortly before noon.

"We have received numerous reports of a loud boom that caused buildings to shake (I heard and felt it in my building and assumed someone had dropped something on our roof). Several of our departments have investigated and have so far been unable to determine the cause," Orange County Community Relations Director Todd McGee said.

"Made my heart skip a beat."

Orange County said Raleigh-Durham International Airport confirmed there was no recorded aircraft in the area at the time that could've caused a sonic boom.

Alivia Crouch was working at Studio 71 when she heard what she said sounded like the building was hit.

The Entire Premise Of Trump’s J6 Trial Is An Affront To Free Elections And Rule Of Law

The imposition of a gag order on Trump means a judge can decide what the GOP front-runner can and cannot say in a presidential campaign.

A remarkable thing happened on Monday in former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial over his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan issued a gag order effectively prohibiting Trump, currently the leading GOP candidate for president, from defending himself in public ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

The gag order means Trump cannot speak publicly about the trial, potential witnesses, court personnel, or Special Counsel Jack Smith, the federal prosecutor who requested the gag order and characterized it as “modest” and “permissible.”

As my colleague Tristan Justice pointed out in these pages yesterday, that means Trump is barred from campaigning against his chief political opponent, which isn’t just President Joe Biden but the entire federal government, especially the Justice Department.

It also means there’s a potentially limitless number of things Trump could say on the campaign trail that would violate the gag order. Julie Kelly, who was in the courtroom Monday, noted on X (formerly Twitter) that there was an entire debate about whether it would be appropriate to allow Trump to use the phrase “Crooked Joe Biden.” A reporter for OANN relayed an exchange between Chutkan and Trump’s defense attorney about whether Trump could call Smith a “thug.” Chutkan, an Obama appointee with a long track record of politically charged Jan. 6 rulings, said she didn’t think such language was “necessary to advance a political campaign,” as if she’s any more competent to decide what sort of campaign rhetoric is necessary than she is to assess the value of Mar-a-Lago.

But set aside the insanity of a federal judge telling a leading presidential candidate — or any political candidate — what they can and cannot say on the campaign trail, as if judges are now the supreme arbiters of American political discourse. The gag order just underscores how insane and farcical this entire trial is.

Recall that Smith didn’t indict Trump on charges that he incited a riot on Jan. 6 or that he committed treason — nothing as concrete as that. He indicted Trump for expressing his opinion that the 2020 election was stolen. You might think it’s crazy that Trump thinks he won in 2020, but millions of Americans believe it — and they are free to say so thanks to the First Amendment. Trump, too, should be free to say it as often and as loudly as he likes. As Jonathan Turley said when Trump was indicted back in August, “If you take a red pen to all of the material presumptively protected by the First Amendment, you can reduce much of the indictment to haiku.”

The actual charges Trump faces are conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. What all that amounts to, though, is merely an assertion that Trump’s statements about the election were false and he knew it. But even if that were the case, so what? This is America. You’re allowed to lie in a political campaign. Joe Biden lies all the time, as does his lackey Merrick Garland at the Justice Department. Whether Trump lied is a political question to be decided by voters, not some thug like Jack Smith.

Loud, mysterious boom Hillsborough confirmed as an earthquake

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) – A cause of the mysterious loud boom that shook buildings and startled many people in Hillsborough on Thursday has been confirmed.

Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) sent ABC11 this statement confirming it was an earthquake.

"We can confirm that it indeed was an earthquake. These small earthquakes often do not get picked up by our computer algorithms because they are so small. When we got felt reports, an analyst looked at it but initially thought it was a quarry blast because it is right near a quarry (visible on Google Earth). Re-examining it this morning, though, we confirmed that it was an earthquake."

USGS said it registered as a 2.2 magnitude quake.

Seymour Johnson AFB also sent ABC11 a confirmation that they didn't have any Fighter jets in the area on Thursday.

It happened shortly before noon.

"We have received numerous reports of a loud boom that caused buildings to shake (I heard and felt it in my building and assumed someone had dropped something on our roof). Several of our departments have investigated and have so far been unable to determine the cause," Orange County Community Relations Director Todd McGee said.

"Made my heart skip a beat."

Orange County said Raleigh-Durham International Airport confirmed there was no recorded aircraft in the area at the time that could've caused a sonic boom.

Alivia Crouch was working at Studio 71 when she heard what she said sounded like the building was hit.

"It made my heart skip a beat," Crouch said.

Kishida Orders Ruling Parties to Study Income Tax Cut

Tokyo, Oct. 20 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Friday instructed the policy and tax chiefs of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito to study an income tax cut and other measures to return increased tax revenues to the people of the country. 
   Any such measures would likely be temporary and are expected to be included in the government's planned comprehensive economic policy package, which will be given cabinet approval as early as Nov. 2.
   Kishida apparently aims to boost support for his administration by demonstrating his determination to lead "bold efforts" to reduce the burden of inflation.
   But there is persistent skepticism about an income tax cut within the ruling bloc, with some saying that measures will not have an immediate effect and that it will be hard for people to feel their impact.
   On Friday, Kishida told the ruling party executives to start discussing concrete measures to return tax revenues to the public, including an income tax cut.

Japan's Foreign Minister to Attend International Meeting in Cairo

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa will visit Egypt Friday to Sunday to attend an international meeting on Middle East peace.
