Bankman-Fried's ex-girlfriend says FTX used $100M of customer deposits to bribe Chinese officials, set up accounts in names of Thai prostitutes

Sam Bankman-Fried's ex-girlfriend and business colleague, Caroline Ellison, stated in court that the former FTX boss had directed her to commit fraud-related crimes, as well as used loans to make political donations. She also alleged customer deposits were used to bribe Chinese officials.

Bankman-Fried, who had just sat through a few days of colleagues Adam Yedidia and Gary Wang pointing the finger at him, was once again on the receiving end of the blame for the catastrophe that was the collapse of crypto-currency trading company FTX.

Ellison has been complying with federal authorities and was expected to receive a plea deal in exchange for her cooperation in taking down her ex-boyfriend.

At the beginning of her testimony, Ellison confirmed that she had committed fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and money laundering, to which she pled guilty in December 2022, according to the Epoch Times.

"He directed me to commit these crimes," Ellison reportedly said in court. It was also noted that she was paid more than $20 million in salary and bonuses in 2021 as head of Alamada Research, FTX's sister hedge fund.

Ellison made other shocking allegations, "CBS Mornings" reported, such as the claim that Alameda used $100 million of FTX customer deposits to bribe Chinese officials.

This was allegedly done in order to gain access to up to $1 billion in cryptocurrency that was frozen in China. The company also allegedly tried to regain the money through accounts set up in the names of Thai prostitutes.

Ellison claimed that Bankman-Fried also considered selling shares in the company to investors such as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

Ellison reportedly told jurors that Alameda lent money to Bankman-Fried and other FTX executives, funds that would then be used to make political donations.

In addition, the aforementioned Yedidia, who worked out of FTX’s Hong Kong office and then the Bahamas before the company collapsed, had previously testified that FTX was using customer deposits to pay off loans. He called the company's actions "flagrantly wrong."

FTX took a reported $10 billion from customer deposits.

Realistically, this would allegedly mean that FTX was taking customer deposits, let Alameda Research take out loans from that money, then Bankman-Fried allegedly loaned money back to himself to pay of his own loans and debts.

Political donations predominantly included $5.2 million to President Biden's campaign in 2020, which immediately shot Bankman-Fried to near the top of the donor list. According to Time, more than $70 million was donated to election campaigns, along with another $40 million to politicians and committees ahead of the 2022 midterms.

Five centuries after the passing of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, his words still resonate with his followers. ​L​et's take a look at 10 of his teachings that make sense to this day.

1. Never forget the poor.

This mantra was relevant in 1500 when there was no concept of poverty alleviation, and is just as relevant now, when poverty hasn't left the world. When Nanak ji was 12, his father gave him Rs. 20 to set up a business. Nanak ji bought food worth Rs. 20 and gave it away. When his father asked him about this investment, Nanak told him it was a "true business". Today, a Gurudwara named Sacha Sauda (true business) exists, where Guru Nanak ji fed the poor.

2. There is one God.

Using religion to segregate people into categories is awful. In the Guru's own words, "There is neither Hindu nor Muslim." On his visit to Hardiwar, he saw people offering the water of the Ganges towards the sun in the east, as an offering to their ancestors in heaven. He began to throw water towards the West. When others ridiculed him, he said: "If Ganges water will reach your ancestors in heaven, why should the water I throw not reach my fields in the Punjab, which are far less distant?"

3. Women are equal to men.

At a time when other Indian religions wanted quiet, demure women in the temple and no women in the mosque, he permitted women to join religious gatherings and openly sing their praises of God.

4. Running away to a forest won’t give you enlightenment.

“…Remember the essence of religion/ Is meekness and sympathy/ But a life of goodness and purity/ Amid the world’s temptations…” (Guru Nanak Dev Ji) Maybe one could achieve enlightenment in forests centuries ago, but we're not capable of that today. And Guru Nanak Dev Ji doesn’t even require you to do that. He believed that living as a householder was better than going away for a divine truth. Nanak Ji himself was a farmer even after achieving enlightenment.

5. These five evils are probably ruining your life.

Ego b. Anger c. Greed d. Attachment and e. Lust.Most, if not all, suffering of big city life comes from these five evils.

6. Find your own guru.

You need a mentor to guide you on how to live right. In Guru Nanak Ji’s words, living right is much superior to visiting pilgrimage destinations.

7. Be selfless.

The Punjab Golden Temple feeds over a 100,000 people of all religions every single day. Not because there is some divine gain, but because it is a sacred duty. For Nanak, the concept of selfless service was a way of life.

8. Fight superstition of any kind.

Nanak Ji devoted his life to attacking formal rituals, caste, and practices that didn’t make any sense. This is the simplest way you can find meaning and purpose in your own life – cutting out the clutter of what society dictates you should do.

9. Simplicity is beautiful.

It is not hard to practice the tenets of Sikhism. There are only 3!

10. Travel!

Hunter and James Biden’s Deadline to Comply with Subpoenas Passes

The deadline set by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) for Hunter Biden and James Biden to comply with the committee’s subpoenas passed on Thursday without any new information about whether the Bidens complied.

“You’ll be the first to know,” Comer told Punchbowl News on Thursday about any update on the subpoenas. “I’m sure Jamie Raskin will call you. He’ll say there’s nothing in there!”

The committee did not respond to a request for comment when Breitbart News inquired about the status of the subpoenas and if Hunter and James Biden’s lawyers are in communication with the committee.

A person with knowledge of the investigation told Breitbart News the committee is in communication with banks, and they are cooperating.

Comer subpoenaed Hunter and James Biden in late September to compel their personal and business bank records to further link Joe Biden to his family’s foreign deals.

The committee planned to subpoena the Bidens since it launched its investigation in November 2022. It did not issue subpoenas sooner because the committee insisted on practicing restraint to “show good faith.”

Hunter Biden denied the committee’s request for bank documents and communications in February, claiming the demands lacked a “legitimate legislative and oversight basis” to request relevant information.

In addition to the Biden family subpoenas, Comer — a former bank board member of a local bank — subpoenaed numerous banks and inspected suspicious activity reports (SARs) at the U.S. Treasury.

The most recent allegations from Comer’s subpoenas show that Chinese business partners wired money in 2019 to a Hunter Biden account with Joe Biden’s address as the beneficiary. The two wires totaled $260,000 from BHR Partners associates in July and August 2019. Hunter Biden did not reside with Joe Biden in Delaware when his Chinese business partners wired Hunter Biden’s account the money, according to court documents.

Through the “Super Chairman,” Hunter Biden formed the joint venture BHR Partners, in which Hunter Biden’s company, Skaneateles LLC, held a ten percent equity stake. BHR Partners is co-owned by the state-controlled Bank of China and still boasts billions of allocated capital around the globe.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Kevin Morris, controls Hunter’s stake in BHR Partners, Breitbart News exclusively reported in April. In 2017, BHR Partners co-founder Devon Archer conveyed his stake in BHR Partners to his wife.
