Hunter Biden to Use Shady Art Market for Child Support Payment

Hunter Biden’s finalized paternity agreement with Lunden Roberts specifies the use of the first son’s paintings as a means to pay at least some of his child support.

Hunter Biden’s paternity agreement states:

Defendant additionally agrees that he shall assign to the child [redacted] of his paintings over the next [redacted] which shall vary in size with a minimum size of 24×24. The child shall select the painting which shall either be sent to the child or sent to a gallery designated by Lunden Roberts. The net proceeds of any sales of paintings shall be wired to an account designated by Lunden Roberts.

The art industry is known for shady business transactions. A Senate subcommittee report detailed in 2020 how the art market serves as a vehicle for money laundering:

The art industry is considered the largest, legal unregulated industry in the United States. Unlike financial institutions, the art industry is not subject to Bank Secrecy Act’s (“BSA”) requirements, which mandate detailed procedures to prevent money laundering and to verify a customer’s identity. While the BSA does not apply to art transactions by art dealers and auction houses, sanctions do. No U.S. person or entity is allowed to do business with a sanctioned individual or entity.

While the art market is not regulated by the BSA, it is governed by unwritten rules. A large number of art sales happen through intermediaries referred to as “art advisors” who can represent both purchasers and sellers. In a typical transaction, a purchaser may not ask who owns the piece of art they are purchasing; the seller may not ask for whom it is being purchased or the origin of the money. And in general an art advisor would be reluctant to reveal the identity of their client for fear of being cut out of the deal and losing the business.

Because the art industry is not subject to BSA requirements, when a piece of art is sold, there is no legal requirement for the selling party to confirm the identity of the buyer or that the buyer is not laundering money through the purchase. While the four biggest auction houses have voluntary anti-money laundering (“AML”) programs, the employees who facilitated art purchases in the Subcommittee’s case study said they never asked the art advisor the identity of his client. Instead, the auction houses considered the art advisor the principal purchaser and performed any due diligence on the art advisor, even when it was well-known that the ultimate owner was someone else. With regard to the funds used to purchase art, the auction houses told the Subcommittee they rely on financial institutions to ensure the integrity of the funds, even though the auction houses interact directly with the buyer. But these voluntary AML policies are just for sales through the auction houses. As stated above, the majority of art sales are private transactions. A private dealer interviewed by the Subcommittee stated she had no written AML policies, tries to work with people she knows and trusts, looks for red flags, and relies on her gut. She also explained that her practices have significantly changed over the years and that she also relies on advice from AML lawyers.

Secrecy, anonymity, and a lack of regulation create an environment ripe for laundering money and evading sanctions.

Adam Thompson, a prominent artist from Miami, told Breitbart News that Hunter Biden is trying to cash in on his infamous, scandal-ridden history by using an unregulated market. Without such notoriety in a shady industry, Hunter Biden’s art would be worth nearly nothing and his daughter would receive a raw deal.

“Scandal on this level is great for the value of an artist’s work,” he said. “But if a regular person were to sell Hunter Biden’s form of art, they would never be able to command the outrageous dollar amounts the pieces generated without the Biden last name.”

In total, Hunter Biden anonymously sold about 12 paintings for less than $500,000, the Washington Post reported. It is unclear how much money the art generated at the sale, but estimates suggest he earned at least five times more than the average American artist — all while being a novice painter.

In a modern translation from the original Hebrew, the passage in which the phrase "Lucifer" or "morning star" occurs begins with the statement: "On the day the Lord gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labour forced on you, you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!"[58] After describing the death of the king, the taunt continues:

Far Left George Soros Organization Cutting 40 Percent of Staff

Now that George Soros is 92 years old, he is passing control of his global operation to his son Alex, who is reportedly more radical than he is.

Things can’t be going too well at the organization however, because they are preparing to cut their staff by up to 40 percent.

Perhaps they are looking to consolidate so they can devote more funds to interfering in American politics.

Soros’ Foundations to Cut 40% of Staff After Handover to Son

Open Society Foundations, the nonprofit founded by billionaire George Soros, plans to cut at least 40% of its staff in the coming months.

The charity, which earlier this month confirmed Soros, 92, was handing control to his son Alex, said Friday its board approved “significant changes” to its operating model. That includes “a substantial reduction in headcount of no less than 40% globally,” according to a spokesperson.

Soros has donated more than $32 billion to the nonprofit, which had more than 500 employees as of the end of 2021 and gives money to humanitarian and democratic causes ranging from criminal justice reform to climate change initiatives. It currently controls the majority of assets managed by his $25 billion family office.

“The Board aims to transform operations across the global network, with the goal of generating a nimbler organization,” said a statement, signed by the younger Soros and the nonprofit’s president Mark Malloch-Brown. “While Open Society works on these internal changes, the Board remains firmly committed to the Foundations’ core priorities — democracy, human rights, climate justice, and addressing inequity.”

This is the most telling part of the report:

The nonprofit’s biggest expense in 2021 was compensation, according to its most recently available tax form. It spent almost $72 million on pay and another $40 million on benefits and pension plans.

Sound of Freedom: The film you almost never had the chance to see

When Eduardo Verastegui learned about Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization that works to save children from sex trafficking, he knew he wanted to tell its story. Specifically, he wanted to tell the story of Tim Ballard, its founder and CEO.

Ballard had spent more than a decade at the Department of Homeland Security, where he worked on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. When he realized that there were real children who couldn’t be saved without cutting an impossible amount of government red tape, he left in 2013 to create OUR, which boasts 4,000-plus predators arrested and 6,000-plus survivors recovered.

In addition to aftercare and preventative efforts, its website notes, the organization goes “to the darkest corners of the world to assist law enforcement in rescuing children.”

Statistics on human trafficking are hard to compile, but theState Department reportsthat it has 27.6 million global victims. Many of these are children, and many of them are continuing to be exploited right here in the U.S., not just through physical violence, but also a seemingly endless supply of child pornography. (OUR claims that “Americans are some of the top consumers AND producers of child pornography.”)

So when Verastegui, a film producer, heard about Ballard’s story and the problem of child sex trafficking in the U.S., he thought, “I am a filmmaker. I ask myself, ‘What can I do?’ A movie. I have a weapon of mass instruction, and inspiration.”

At the premiere of the finished movie, Sound of Freedom, in Washington, D.C., Verastegui told the Washington Examiner that this all happened eight years ago, so even after the film was finished in 2018, there was no one who wanted to distribute it for years. Netflix passed. Amazon passed. Every studio was worried about losing money.

“That,” Verastegui said, “broke my heart.”

He said that people who saw the film cried; some gave it a standing ovation. But the “experts” didn’t seem to get it. “Something’s weird here,” he said.

It didn’t matter that Sound of Freedomfocused on high-stakes drama, showing Ballard (played by The Passion of the Christ’s Jim Caviezel) and his partners working with local government officials in South America to lure pimps and pedophiles and rescue the children in their clutches before it’s too late — like if Taken were based on a true, gut-wrenching story.

Then Verastegui met Neal Harmon, co-founder and CEO of Angel Studios, last fall. Angel Studios is the crowd-funded media company famous for distributing The Chosen, a TV show about the life of Jesus Christ. A few months after meeting Harmon, Verastegui pitched Angel Studios on the film, and things moved quickly. After the studio showed the film to investors who were enthusiastic about the project, it agreed in March to distribute Sound of Freedom.

Jordan Harmon, brother of Neal and co-founder of Angel Studios, told the Washington Examiner that in fewer than 10 days, some 7,200 people invested $5 million in a fund to get the movie “out into the world.”

Now filmmakers are hoping that the movie, which comes out Tuesday, July 4, will draw 2 million viewers at its theatrical release to represent the 2 million children trafficked globally. But they emphasize that the point of the movie isn’t to preach to its viewers.

“When you go to a movie and you buy a ticket, you don’t go to be preached at; you go to be entertained,” the film’s director, Alejandro Monteverde, told the Washington Examiner. “So my goal as a filmmaker is how can I take entertainment and marry it to meaning?”

Monteverde describes himself as a “lone wolf,” saying the people the filmmakers originally tried to partner with for the film didn't understand its meaning — until Angel Studios.

“As a filmmaker, as a storyteller, I realized that a lot of my peers were doing one type of a film as a voice — not as a genre, but as a voice,” he said. “I realized that I wanted to go in a different direction. I wanted to make films that I was called to make.”

The film’s eight-year journey from an idea to a two-hour-long product ready to be released in theaters has been anything but orthodox. Monteverde admits that even the release date — July 4 — may be risky, but as a self-proclaimed underdog, he welcomes the challenge.“The bigger the giant, the greater the glory,” he said. “I’m like, ‘Bring it on. Let’s see what happens.’”
