I am proud to finally announce that I joined @oceangateexped for their RMS TITANIC Mission as a mission specialist on the sub going down to the Titanic.

Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic in 2023. A weather window has just opened up and we are going to attempt a dive tomorrow. We started steaming from St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada yesterday and are planning to start dive operations around 4am tomorrow morning. Until then we have a lot of preparations and briefings to do.

The team on the sub has a couple of legendary explorers, some of which have done over 30 dives to the RMS Titanic since the 1980s including PH Nargeolet.

House GOP moves to ban public access to service members' military records

The proposal comes after the Pentagon erroneously released the personal information of several Republican politicians who were current or former members of the armed forces.

House Republicans are attempting to end the decades-old practice of the Defense Department’s releasing summaries of the service records of members of the U.S. military to the public.

The House Appropriations Committee bill would prohibit any funds from being used to release personal information about current and former service members, which news organizations and some employers use to verify people’s military service.

According to the Pentagon, the types of information that can currently be released vary but generally include full name, rank, date of rank, past and present duty assignments, awards and decorations, attendance at professional military schools, duty status at any given time, home of record and official photo.

Under the new proposal, members of the public, new organizations and some employers would have to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the military service branch to obtain the information, and the individual must be notified before the information can be released. But the FOIA process is notoriously backlogged and can take months or even years to fulfill a request.

The only exception would be if the request comes from a federal government entity or state and local law enforcement, which the military can fulfill.

Pentagon spokesperson Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman declined to comment, saying, “It would be inappropriate to comment on pending legislation.”

A remotely operated vehicle capable of winching the stricken submersible Titan out of the Atlantic has been blocked from joining the rescue mission by the US government, The Telegraph understands.

A team from deepwater specialists Magellan Limited has been waiting to leave an airport in the Channel Islands since 7pm on Monday, but approval for take-off has yet to be received.

The Guernsey-based firm produced the first full-sized digital scan of the Titanic last summer, the largest underwater project of its kind as two submarines put together 700,000 images of the wreck.

Bretton Hunchak, former president of RMS Titanic, Inc, which collaborated with Magellan, says the company has essential equipment and expertise to help locate OceanGate’s Titan submersible that went missing on a dive to the wreck of the luxury passenger liner, which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in April 1912.

But despite receiving apparent clearance from the Ministry of Defence to leave UK airspace, the American government has allegedly yet to authorise the team’s request to join rescuers 435 miles south of St John’s, Newfoundland.

Mr Hunchak said US officials have indicated they would prefer to use a New York-based vessel capable of exploring 3,000m below water, whereas Magellan’s can plunge depths of up to 5,000m.

He added Magellan’s remotely operated vehicle was unique in that it was likely the only asset available to have a winch capable of dragging submersibles from the depths of the ocean. It can also detect signals and send them above the surface.

Upon Herod's birthday, a great celebration took place and his step-daughter, whom tradition names Salome, performed a dance that pleased him greatly. To reward her performance and to display his great wealth and generosity, Herod promised in front of his guests to grant her any favor she requested. Having been coached by her mother Herodias, who "had a grudge against [John the Baptist] and wanted to put him to death," Salome asked for the prophet's head on a platter (Mark 6:19, 25). Thus, John the Baptist was beheaded in his jail cell and his head was then presented to Herodias's daughter in front of all the guests.

The fact that John the Baptist was imprisoned for teaching the truth of God's Word and that his execution could be carried out on the whim of a princess for the entertainment of Roman guests shows the extent of the oppression the Jews of Jesus' day suffered under the tyranny of Roman rule. It also foreshadows the death Jesus Himself would face for teaching the truth. He, too, would be executed by Roman authorities on the whim of an angry crowd who rejected His preaching.

Jesus had said of John "Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist" (Matthew 11:11). John the Baptist knew Jesus was "the Son of God" (John 1:34) and "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). He had announced this to the people while preaching about repentance. So although John the Baptist's death was a great injustice, he had fulfilled the purpose to which God called him: to be "the voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight'" (Matthew 3:3).
