In “Mexico’s ‘shock’ new mining law hurts juniors most,” Mining.com complains that “companies now have to deal with an increased burden of pre-consultation, impact studies and water concessions, among other things. BC government to pay for cancer treatments in the US

Some cancer patients in British Columbia will soon have the option to receive radiation therapy in Bellingham, Washington, as part of a temporary initiative to reduce wait times and increase capacity in the province’s cancer care system.

BC’s Minister of Health Adrian Dix announced on Monday that beginning on May 29, eligible breast cancer and prostate cancer patients will be able to travel to one of two clinics in Bellingham, located a short drive south of the border, for their treatment.

According to Dix, the government will cover any additional costs of travel or accommodations for the duration of the treatment.

“This commitment to supporting radiation treatment will initially focus on a specific group of patients – breast cancer and prostate cancer patients – are the largest patient populations receiving radiation therapy,” said Dix.

Described as "Kelvin waves," JPL said the US-European satellite Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich shows raised ocean surface, approximately 2 to 4 inches, and hundreds of miles wide, moving from west to east along the equator.

"A series of Kelvin waves starting in spring is a well-known precursor to an El Niño, a periodic climate phenomenon that can affect weather patterns around the world," JPL said, adding these waves tend to be higher than cooler ocean water because warm water expands.

Service à la Famille Chinoise du Grand Montréal (SFCGM) is implicated in allegedly running the operation for China.

The RCMP has since launched an investigation into SFCGM to “detect and perturb criminal activities supported by a foreign state that can threaten the safety of people living in Canada.”

According to the National Post, Canada Revenue Agency reports filed by the group show that the federal government gave SFCGM $178,450 in 2020-2021 and another $21,728 in 2021-2022.

It said that this was associated with the enterovirus infection, which rarely affects the heart.

A UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) spokesperson confirmed to The Epoch Times that 10 babies have been diagnosed in Wales and five have been diagnosed in England.

The WHO said that “although enterovirus infections are common in neonates and young infants, the reported increase in myocarditis with severe outcomes in neonates and infants associated with enterovirus infection is unusual.”

She recalls that Canada did not offer them any assistance with food, accommodation, transportation, or the evacuation flight home.

“(The Canadian government) basically abandoned us,” said Ahmed. She compared her experience with other nationalities evacuated, and found some countries got their citizens out of Sudan in just two or three days and paid for all their expenses.

Autopsies of two male military members in their 20s who suddenly died showed that they had heart inflammation, or myocarditis. There were also signs that heart inflammation contributed to the deaths of two others, one an 18-year-old male and the other a 23-year-old female.

Researchers also found that 348 members survived myocarditis or a related condition, pericarditis, but that it took at least months for each to recover, with some still not having recovered years later.

The lead researcher of the study, which was published by PLOS One in May, declined to comment. Nearly all of the researchers are employed by the Defense Health Agency (DHA). They wrote in the paper that the findings “draw attention to potential long-term morbidity and possible chronic … or recurrent … symptoms in pericarditis and myocarditis.”

Canadians are becoming increasingly comfortable – almost cozy – with the Trudeau government’s euthanasia program known as Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), with some now suggesting it should be expanded to include the poor and homeless.

MAiD was responsible for the deaths of 10,000 Canadians in 2021, which amounts to three percent of the total number of people who died that year.

The Liberal government has stalled the expansion of the program to include the mentally ill and children, but it has not said it won’t be expanded next year. Two academics from the University of Toronto are now advocating that MAiD should be available for people in “unjust social circumstances.”

Denying people experiencing “unjust social circumstances” just isn’t right, argues Kayla Wiebe, a PhD candidate in philosophy, and bioethicist Amy Mullin, a professor of philosophy at the University of Toronto, who co-wrote the piece in the Journal of Medical Ethics.

“One way of responding to these cases is, ‘Well, clearly then, medical aid in dying should not be available to them,’” Mullin told the National Post.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland ended the two weeks of filibustering by Conservative MPs by testifying for 90 minutes on Bill C-47, the Budget Implementation Act.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland faced incredible pushback from the Finance Committee after she failed to attend numerous meetings on Budget 2023. She pushed back and called the opposition 'filibuster' an act of "bullying."

"One thing that I learned during the NAFTA negotiations is that appeasing a bully never works," she said. "And that tends to be my approach in life."

Ultimately, Freeland ended the two weeks of filibustering by Conservative MPs by testifying for 90 minutes on Bill C-47, the Budget Implementation Act. They criticized her for viewing Parliament as an "inconvenience" for refusing their requests thrice over the past several weeks.

Dr. Tedros delivered this message during a meeting of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, just weeks after the WHO officially ended the global health emergency related to COVID-19.

While claiming that COVID-19 still poses a significant threat, Tedros warned that it is not the sole health crisis the world may face.

Two men charged with arson after 120-year-old Alberta church burnt down

Police have charged two men with arson after a fire engulfed an over 120-year-old church in Grouard, Alberta on May 22, 2023.

The St. Bernard Catholic Church, which was built in 1901 and designated as a provincial historical site, was badly damaged by the blaze, which authorities believe was intentionally set.

The RCMP were called to assist the local firefighters at the church approximately at 3:30 p.m. After spending six hours battling the flames, most of the structure and its contents were irrecoverable.

The two suspects were arrested on Tuesday and charged with break and enter to commit theft and arson. They are scheduled to appear in court in High Prairie on May 29.

Both 56-year-old Kenneth Ferguson and 50-year-old Gerald Capot are believed to be from High Prairie.

“They have lost something very valuable to them,” said Archbishop Gerard Pettipas.
