John Basilone was a United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant who received the Medal of Honor for actions during the Battle for Henderson Field in the Guadalcanal campaign, and the Navy Cross posthumously for extraordinary heroism during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Texas Massacre Happened in America’s Largest Illegal Immigrant “Colonia” — and Major U.S. Media Won’t Say So
AUSTIN, Texas — A Mexican national is on the run after slaughtering a family of five Hondurans next door, including an 8-year-old child, in a small Texas town a two-hour drive east from here called Cleveland.
American news media report the murdered parents had asked their next-door neighbor to stop firing his semi-automatic rifle at 11 p.m. on April 29 because they were trying to put a baby to sleep. Two other children survived under the bodies of their parents, who died shielding them.
But what no media has yet reported is that this horrific crime happened in what is regarded as America’s largest settlement of illegal immigrants, one literally exploding in population amid a U.S.-government fomented mass migration border crisis. In Liberty County, and now spreading into neighboring San Jacinto County where the massacre occurred, old-timers have been fleeing a new diversity of violent crime, murder, all-night weapons firing, and cartel drug trafficking that has boomed alongside the population. Indifferent U.S. immigration enforcement agencies leave this area to itself.
My recently released book, Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History, dedicates a chapter of reporting to this massive illegal immigrant “colonia” as a warning to America about the coming consequences of an unfettered mass migration event now in its third unmitigated year that has already seen more than five million foreign nationals settle into U.S. towns and cities. Following are edited excerpts from the chapter “Forever Impacts”.

“The originals” of Liberty County, Texas — the self-descriptor of lifelong Anglo residents like Jimmy Rollins, who trace their lineage to early settler families — have mostly fled what they regard as ruinous, irredeemable change.
Settlement in the county wilderness some 40 miles northeast of Houston dates to the 1830s and 1840s and boomed a bit when an oil field was discovered there in 1925, but still didn’t much change the cherished small-town closeness, long lonely country lanes through uninterrupted timberland, the hunting and fishing subsistence lifestyle, and tiny high school graduating classes.
Until very recently, the loggers, train mechanics, ranchers, and state prison workers made their homes in and around Liberty County’s quaint old townships carved out of dense pine forests with names like Plum Grove, Cleveland, Dayton, and Splendora. They raised each other’s barns and dug one another’s wells.
Now 72, Jimmy Rollins was still farming near Dayton when I met him in May 2022. Just like his father, who was born and lived until he was buried at age 95 in Plum Grove, Rollins recalled riding a horse every Sunday to church and to school as a kid, “barefoot until junior high”, and he raised his own family much the same way, by farming and following a rural country code of life.

A vast jumble of single- and double-wide trailers on low stilts, hand-hewn shacks made of leftover construction material, and parked motor homes has quickly overtaken tens of thousands of Liberty County acres and eradicated its rural way of life. The community is named “Colony Ridge”. Upwards of 50,000 mostly Spanish-speaking Latinos, maybe more — nobody knows, really — are living on some 30,000 homestead lots they purchased in recent years over some 35 square miles from “Houston Terrenos”, the land development company started by an “original” named William Henry “Trey” and his brother John Harris a decade earlier.
The boom began without letup about a decade ago when Houston Terrenos, on Spanish-language media platforms with international reach, began marketing lot purchases with its unique “owner-to-owner method” that didn’t require traditional bank loans, proven job history, or Social Security numbers.
A significant portion of the new population that bought Terrenos lots are illegally present, according to the settlers themselves, local police, school officials, teachers, and other residents. In 2020, analyst Chuck DeVore of the Austin-based Texas Public Policy Foundation think tank dubbed Colony Ridge “the fastest-growing Hispanic population in the United States and one of the fastest growing school districts”. DeVore figured the population of these communities is projected to reach as high as a quarter-million people, a significant percentage not legally present in the country.
Liberty County and its booming Colony Ridge development make for an apt, emblematic harbinger of the kind of change that sudden explosive growth in illegal alien population can portend for citizens and residents already living in receiving communities as a result of the Biden border crisis.
Quality of Life in Liberty County
As a former Plum Grove mayor, city councilwoman, apartment real estate developer, and proud original, Leanne Walker has waged an unremitting legal and political “war” to contain the ongoing Terrenos Houston development. She refers to this enemy as “the Kraken”, a multi-armed Octopus-like sea monster of Scandinavian sailing mythology that would drag ships to the bottom.
“I was born and raised by the forest, by the most salt-of-the-Earth people you could meet, by an original,” she told me. “My father was an original. His mother was an original. We’re all on the same land. We are called the originals of Plum Grove.”
Walker’s grievances and stories of battle with “the Kraken” are far too long to recount here, such as whether the rapid pace of development floods the towns during hard rains and allegedly poisoned rivers and the Gulf of Mexico with raw human waste.
But almost as offensive to the originals than the clear-cutting, traffic jams, and floods they blame on the ever-sprawling Colony Ridge is that the newcomers make for bad neighbors.
“The amount of gunfire that is out there would blow your mind. I have a video you can listen to on New Year’s Eve. It sounded like Falluja,” Walker recounted, moving on to, “The loud Mexican music they play from Thursday night to Sunday. They all put their music on the same f***ing station and turn it up. Our homes at one o’clock in the morning doing this …,” Walker said, using her hand to thump the table like a drum. “And that’s why the originals all left.”
A Frightening New Diversity of Crime
Before all the change, crime mostly consisted of a few white country meth-heads, two local police investigators who work in the area told me privately.
But now the crime is so different in the view of local old-timers like Rollins and Walker that they welcomed news that their grown children would flee Liberty County.

I want to reiterate this point because it’s really important:
Just because something is classified—even Top Secret, SCI, NOFORN, FISA, pick your alphabet soup—does not mean that it is National Defense Information (NDI) within the meaning of the Espionage Act.
NDI, for the purposes of an Espionage Act § 793(e) prosecution, is defined as one of a long list of items “relating to the national defense which information the possessor had reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation.”
A lot of the documents listed in the indictment are older, or seemingly random. Would Trump in 2022 have had reason to know that a 2019 briefing document “related to various foreign countries, with handwritten annotation in black marker” could harm the US or help foreign countries?
Tough to say, because we can’t see the documents, but that’s a question the jury is going to have to decide in the end, and Trump’s legal team needs to drive home this point over and over again:
Classification is not dispositive in this case.
Harm to America or benefit to foreign countries is the standard.
Anyone who has worked around government knows that overclassification is a huge problem. A ton of documents end up being classified because of arcane technical rules that may not reflect the real world.
If the president were to ask the Navy what’s for lunch for the next week at Coronado, for example, I’ll bet you the answer comes back with a classification marker on it.
Not everything classified constitutes NDI. Focus on the actual legal standards and statutory language, not a bunch of scary looking all caps acronyms.

The Rollins’ two grown children sold out in 2020 and fled with their own young families as part of an exodus of originals chasing the quiet to just about anywhere else “because of the traffic, the people, the shooting, the wrecks, and the thieving”, Rollins said.
“They got scared,” he said of the kids. “They wasn’t raised in all that.”
In June 2022, a Liberty County dog brought home a human hand, which led to the discovery of a badly decomposed body of a man who had been buried with his gun. Police couldn’t identify the corpse and were left to post photos of the clothing in hopes someone would recognize them.
In September 2022, passersby in Colony Ridge found the body of a 16-year-old Honduran girl who’d been shot to death and dumped in a ditch by the side of a road, still wearing her uniform from her work bussing tables at a local restaurant. Gang unit police arrested three foreign nationals, all under 21, and charged them with the murder of Emily Rodriguez-Avila, citing “gang overtones” as a motive. The family shipped her body back to Honduras for burial.
Some crime has proven especially twisted relative to the area’s past.
In 2020, for instance, an illegal alien from Mexico who settled in Colony Ridge chained two house cleaners to a bed and sexually assaulted them in a blackmail scheme during which he took nude photos. The nightmare ended when one of the women attempted an escape in her vehicle but didn’t make it; her assailant managed to shoot her to death and set her car on fire with her inside before fleeing back to Mexico. Border Patrol caught him trying to cross again in California a short time later.
In 2016, owners of a Colony Ridge lot who were clearing it of brush discovered the decomposing remains of a single mother of five children named Esmeralda Pargas-Nunez, 42, who’d been reported missing a month earlier. It took two years, but homicide detectives tracked down her alleged killer to Houston in 2018, another woman named Sabrina Olarosa Garcia, and charged her with murder. This was evidently part of a kidnapping scheme in Houston where the alleged murderer first lured her victim to a meeting.
Mexican Cartels Come to Town
The Gulf and Sinaloa Cartels invested in Colony Ridge from its earliest inception, they said, financing lots for local operatives to run safe houses through which they move smuggled drugs and people from the border to interior America. They were using them still to smuggle people coming in under Biden.
Evidence of cartel involvement dates to the earliest days of the illegal-alien settlement boom. To at least 2013, when federal, state, and local investigators raided a Mexican drug cartel’s marijuana grow operation on 300 acres in Liberty County, finding explosives, 6,000 marijuana plants, worker bunk houses, and guard towers. Local police at the time called it the “largest and most sophisticated marijuana-growing operation” in the county’s history.
In July 2021, the DEA broke that dubious record with the new biggest drug bust in Liberty County history with a raid that broke up a multimillion-dollar methamphetamine manufacturing lab operating inside one of the Colony Ridge dwellings.
During a recent trip, a police investigator drove me around several town neighborhoods pointing out high-end brick homes where cartel management figures lived before they were busted or moved away.
This kind of criminality grew so problematic by 2021 that the fearful town leaders of Plum Grove established a first police department that works in concert with two county-paid bilingual constables that Liberty County funded to exclusively patrol Colony Ridge.
The addition of several police officers amounts to a drop in the ocean, one officer from the region told me. Drive-by shootings, stealing, and drug trafficking are rampant, victimizing mostly the new community.
“It’s a cluster f**k over there and it’s only getting worse,” said the officer, who was not authorized to speak publicly. “It’s its own closed community out there, and the Salvadorans, Ecuadorans, South Americans … they really clique up.”

(3)Walt Nauta and DOJ Misconduct
Far and away the most troubling side storyto emerge from this saga so far are the allegations made by Trump aide and co-defendant Walt Nauta’s lawyer last week.
You may have missed it if you blinked. Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has mostly buried this one.
Nauta’s lawyer, Stanley Woodward alleged in a court filing that during a meeting with prosecutors about his client’s case, the head of the Counterintelligence Section of DOJ’s National Security Division Jay Bratt “suggested Woodward’s judicial application [for a DC Superior Court judgeship] might be considered more favorably if he and his client cooperated against Trump.”
If true, and I find it hard to believe that Woodward just made the whole thing up, this is wild misconduct. Truly wild. It could undermine the entire case against both Trump and Nauta. It could end careers at DOJ if fairly investigated.
And a word on Stanley Woodward: I don’t know him, but I know of him. He is a highly accomplished lawyer. Spent a decade at Akin Gump, a top law firm, clerked on the DC Circuit, and has very substantial experience in government investigations. This is not some fly by night TV lawyer. He’s a real deal legal heavyweight, and he’s leveling an extremely serious allegation of misconduct against a senior official at DOJ.

Indeed, a five-month-long gang and narcotics investigation by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office came to a dramatic end in December 2021 with the arrest of two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy who were part of a violent drug-trafficking racket in Colony Ridge.
After three or four months where the boys would engage in gun battles with drug buyers who wouldn’t pay on time, local police had to investigate. When the day came to make arrests, the armed 17-year-old rammed a police car during a pell-mell car chase near Plum Grove, fled home, and barricaded himself in his house until a SWAT unit had to extract him and a girlfriend inside, who also was arrested amid drugs that were found.
There’s no letup in sight. In April 2023, local deputies found the bodies of two middle school students riddled with bullets in a car near Plum Grove, evidently the latest victims in a spate of drug-trafficking-related violence. Their names were Cesar Christopher Trochez-Maravilla, 15, and Adiel Garcia Aguirre, 14.
If those who committed these crimes were in the country illegally, none of this should have happened. In that vein, Liberty County also is a microcosm of a vast scale of unnecessary crime that is already here with much more on the way to communities across America.

Bell Chevigny, Smith’s late mother-in-law, was even a Senior Justice Fellow at George Soros’s Open Society Foundation. Bell also sat on the Board of the Human Rights Defense Center, which received donations from the New World Foundation, a liberal New York-based organization closely connected to Hillary Clinton.

(4)Attorney Client Privilege
The indictment relies on a significant amount of information received, in one form or another, from one of Trump’s lawyers, Evan Corcoran, who was compelled to testify in front of the grand jury. According to news reports, the argument for breaching the privilege was the crime fraud exception. Let’s talk a little about it.
The attorney client privilege protects from disclosure to the government confidential communications made between clients and their attorneys. It has been around for centuries, and is considered a core protection in our system of justice.
The crime fraud exception, though, allows the attorney client privilege to be broken in rare circumstances when two requirements are met:
First, there needs to be a prima facie showing that the client was engaged in criminal conduct.
Second, the client has to have obtained or sought the attorney’s assistance in furthering that crime.
I haven’t seen DOJ’s filings on Corcoran, but I’d be interested to know how they argued this. First of all, what was the crime they used as a predicate? Was it unlawful retention of the documents? If so, there’s nothing in the indictment that I can see indicating that Corcoran’s communications with Trump would have furthered that in a way that would justify breaching privilege.
Was it obstruction? I think this is the most likely option: they pierced attorney client privilege using obstruction as the predicate crime for the crime fraud exception, saying that Trump’s conversations with Corcoran amounted to him attempting to enlist Corcoran in a criminal obstruction scheme.
Now, we’ll see how that goes for the Government. I have my doubts.
But if that’s the case, just reading this indictment, it feels like the obstruction charges may have been structured specifically in part just to get Corcoran’s testimony in, to help buttress what would otherwise be a much weaker case against Trump on the substantive charges.
In any case, the Special Counsel is going to have to show why the communications in question were a solicitation by Trump to Corcoran to join him in criminal acts, as opposed to Trump asking a lawyer he hired to advise him on his legal defense, to tell him what his options were, or to outline what defensive steps might be possible, and what was done by others in previous cases like Hillary’s emails.
Reading the conversations in the indictment, they sound a lot more like honest attorney client communications than they do crime fraud to me, even with all ellipses and modifications.
I expect a motion by Trump’s legal team on this issue, and if they win that will cut the guts out of much of this case. Very tough to prove up intent and willfulness the way the government needs to without Corcoran, at least based on what we see in the indictment.

(5)Timing: Why now?
This is not a legal defect in the indictment, but it’s an important point. Why are they bringing this case now?
They know that Trump is the leading candidate for president. They know he’s beating Biden in the polls. They must know how bad it looks for a sitting president’s DOJ to indict that president’s primary political opponent.
DOJ has long had policies in place to prevent new indictments from being brought, or overt investigative acts being committed, in the months preceding an election in order to avoid the appearance of political timing. The same reasoning clearly applies here.
They didn’t have a statute of limitations issue, they could have easily just announced the facts as they saw them after the search warrant was executed and all the documents were recovered, and then held off on further investigative acts and the indictment until after November 2024.
The fact that they didn’t is strong evidence to me that a big part of this is the burning desire among many on the left to “Get Trump.” They don’t care about the law, they don’t care about the facts, they don’t care about norms or propriety or anything else. They just want Trump in cuffs.
It’s not the way things are supposed to work, and the fact that our law enforcement and intelligence apparatuses are being weaponized in this way against a leading presidential contender is truly a black mark on them and on our republic.
If I were Trump’s lawyers, I would consider moving to continue further proceedings until after November 2024. Let the case sit. The country doesn’t need to litigate this right now. We need to pick our next president. If DOJ won’t agree to that continuance, let them explain why this has to happen right now. There is no good reason that I can see.

The group “war-gamed” a scenario in which Trump declared victory, but Biden’s vote totals continued to climb overnight. Podesta, playing Biden in the war game, then convinced states to offer up competing electors.

I am a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, worked on two Supreme Court confirmations, and clerked for two federal appellate judges.
The indictment and case against President Trump is outrageous and shocking.
But let’s get into the details.
Here are my6 key points on the case:
(1) Interplay between the Espionage Act and the Presidential Records Act
A lot of my friends have spoken insightfully about the scope of the Presidential Records Act. I’d direct you to Mike Davis’s (@mrddmia) commentary on the subject, and also Michael Bekesha of @JudicialWatch’s piece yesterday in the @WSJ about the Clinton Sock Drawer Case.
Basically, their argument distills down to the idea that the President’s authority to retain Personal Records, as well as his rights to access his Presidential Records, make it impossible to prosecute him under the Espionage Act section at issue here, § 793(e), because the government cannot prove “unauthorized possession,” as required under the statute.
I want to make a different point relating to the intent elements in § 793(e) of the Espionage Act, the statute Trump is being charged under.
Section 793(e) requires the government to prove that the Defendant KNEW he had National Defense Information (NDI) in his possession, and also that the Defendant KNEW that there was a government official entitled to receive the Information, and also that the Defendant then WILLFULLY failed to deliver it to that official.
This is a very high set of mens rea bars to jump, in any circumstance. Proving a Defendant’s intent and knowledge can often be tough. But it’s even tougher here.
The Presidential Records Act sets up a system where the president designates all records that he creates either as Presidential or Personal Records. 44 U.S.C. § 2203(b). A former president is supposed to turn over his Presidential Records to NARA, and he has the right to keep his Personal Records.
Based on the documents I’ve read and his actions that I’ve read about, I believe that Trump viewed his “boxes” as his Personal Records under the PRA. There are statements he made, quoted in the Indictment, that support that view. If Trump considered the contents of these boxes to be of purely personal interest, hence his designation of them as Personal Records, did he knowingly retain NDI?
Did he really think these documents, like years old briefing notes and random maps, jumbled together with his letters, news clippings, scribbled notes, and random miscellaneous items, “could be used to the injury of the United States”? Or did he just think of them as mementos of his time in office, his Personal Records of the four years, akin to a journal or diary?
If he thought these boxes were his Personal Records, he may have believed that NARA simply had no right to receive them at all. Meaning that he did not willfully withhold anything from an official he knew had the right to receive them. Because he didn’t believe that anyone had the right to receive them.
By breathlessly bandying around classification levels and markings, the Special Counsel is trying to make this case seem much, much simpler than it is. Classification levels do not automatically make something NDI, and having classified documents in your possession is not enough to convict here.
This is not a matter of [Classified Documents]+[Mar a Lago bathroom]=Conviction.
That’s what they want you to think, and that’s the media’s inch deep view, typically, but it’s dead wrong.
More than anything, this case hinges on the ability of the Special Counsel to prove *beyond a reasonable doubt* aspects of Trump’s state of mind that will be extremely difficult to prove in this case because of his obligations and rights under the Presidential Records Act. In addition to all of the usual issues.

(2) Classification and National Defense Information
I want to reiterate this point because it’s really important:
Just because something is classified—even Top Secret, SCI, NOFORN, FISA, pick your alphabet soup—does not mean that it is National Defense Information (NDI) within the meaning of the Espionage Act.
NDI, for the purposes of an Espionage Act § 793(e) prosecution, is defined as one of a long list of items “relating to the national defense which information the possessor had reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation.”
A lot of the documents listed in the indictment are older, or seemingly random. Would Trump in 2022 have had reason to know that a 2019 briefing document “related to various foreign countries, with handwritten annotation in black marker” could harm the US or help foreign countries?
Tough to say, because we can’t see the documents, but that’s a question the jury is going to have to decide in the end, and Trump’s legal team needs to drive home this point over and over again:
Classification is not dispositive in this case.
Harm to America or benefit to foreign countries is the standard.
Anyone who has worked around government knows that overclassification is a huge problem. A ton of documents end up being classified because of arcane technical rules that may not reflect the real world.
If the president were to ask the Navy what’s for lunch for the next week at Coronado, for example, I’ll bet you the answer comes back with a classification marker on it.
Not everything classified constitutes NDI. Focus on the actual legal standards and statutory language, not a bunch of scary looking all caps acronyms.
(3) Walt Nauta and DOJ Misconduct
Far and away the most troubling side story to emerge from this saga so far are the allegations made by Trump aide and co-defendant Walt Nauta’s lawyer last week.
You may have missed it if you blinked. Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has mostly buried this one.
Nauta’s lawyer, Stanley Woodward alleged in a court filing that during a meeting with prosecutors about his client’s case, the head of the Counterintelligence Section of DOJ’s National Security Division Jay Bratt “suggested Woodward’s judicial application [for a DC Superior Court judgeship] might be considered more favorably if he and his client cooperated against Trump.”
If true, and I find it hard to believe that Woodward just made the whole thing up, this is wild misconduct. Truly wild. It could undermine the entire case against both Trump and Nauta. It could end careers at DOJ if fairly investigated.
And a word on Stanley Woodward: I don’t know him, but I know of him. He is a highly accomplished lawyer. Spent a decade at Akin Gump, a top law firm, clerked on the DC Circuit, and has very substantial experience in government investigations. This is not some fly by night TV lawyer. He’s a real deal legal heavyweight, and he’s leveling an extremely serious allegation of misconduct against a senior official at DOJ.

This is not a legal defect in the indictment, but it’s an important point. Why are they bringing this case now?
They know that Trump is the leading candidate for president. They know he’s beating Biden in the polls. They must know how bad it looks for a sitting president’s DOJ to indict that president’s primary political opponent.
DOJ has long had policies in place to prevent new indictments from being brought, or overt investigative acts being committed, in the months preceding an election in order to avoid the appearance of political timing. The same reasoning clearly applies here.
They didn’t have a statute of limitations issue, they could have easily just announced the facts as they saw them after the search warrant was executed and all the documents were recovered, and then held off on further investigative acts and the indictment until after November 2024.
The fact that they didn’t is strong evidence to me that a big part of this is the burning desire among many on the left to “Get Trump.” They don’t care about the law, they don’t care about the facts, they don’t care about norms or propriety or anything else. They just want Trump in cuffs.
It’s not the way things are supposed to work, and the fact that our law enforcement and intelligence apparatuses are being weaponized in this way against a leading presidential contender is truly a black mark on them and on our republic.
If I were Trump’s lawyers, I would consider moving to continue further proceedings until after November 2024. Let the case sit. The country doesn’t need to litigate this right now. We need to pick our next president. If DOJ won’t agree to that continuance, let them explain why this has to happen right now. There is no good reason that I can see.

You read that right, all nine Supreme Court justices smacked Jack Smith down for an overzealous, legally defective prosecution of a Republican politician. SCOTUS gutted him so badly that DOJ didn’t even try to re-try the case. They just dropped it.
And his wife is a leftist filmmaker who produced a hagiography of Michelle Obama.
And he currently lives in the Netherlands. Didn’t they have anyone else good on this side of the Atlantic?
If this is not a political prosecution, if Merrick Garland wasn’t just trying to “Get Trump,” then why was Jack Smith the pick? Like the timing, the decision just reeks of politics.

It’s been pointed out to me that the final vote on McDonnell v. United States was 8-0, not 9-0, because Justice Scalia passed away before the opinion was issued.

Twenty Republicans rode to the rescue of Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California on Wednesday, sending off into limbo a resolution that called for Schiff to be censured and fired.
The resolution was brought by Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida.
“It is the obligation of House Leadership to back up this motion for the American people and hold this feckless man accountable,” Luna said in a statement after introducing the resolution, according to the New York Post. The resolution called for a $16 million fine, amounting to half the cost of the Robert Mueller probe that found there was no evidence of the 2016 Trump campaign colluding with Russia.,
The text of House Resolution 437 noted that Schiff, from his position on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives “abused this trust by citing evidence of collusion that — as is clear from reports by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, and Special Counsel Durham — does not exist.”
The resolution went down in flames on a 225-196-7 vote that tabled it.
Twenty Republicans voted with Democrats in favor of the motion to table, according to the official roll call. (Because the vote was on tabling the resolution, votes against the motion were votes to support the resolution and censure Schiff.)
Republicans who voted to table the motion were: Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota; Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon; Juan Ciscomani of Arizona; Tom Cole of Oklahoma; Warren Davidson and Mike Turner of Ohio; Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania; Kay Granger of Texas; Garret Graves of Louisiana; Thomas Kean Jr. of New Jersey; Kevin Kiley, Young Kim, Tom McClintock, Jay Obernolte and David Valadao of California; Mike Lawler and Mark Molinaro of New York; Thomas Massie of Kentucky; Mike Simpson of Idaho; and Steve Womack of Arkansas.
Five other Republicans also did not oppose tabling the resolution. Republican Reps. Neal Dunn of Florida, Tony Gonzales of Texas, and Patrick McHenry of North Carolina were recorded as not voting. Reps. Darrell Issa of California and George Santos of New York voted Present. All Democrats voting supporting tabling the measure.
Schiff said he was “frankly surprised” at the vote.
“And I think it showed a lot of courage for Republican members to stand up to the crazy MAGA folks,” he said, according to The Hill.
“I’m astounded by the vote frankly; it was basically almost one of 10 Republicans voted against this resolution,” Schiff said.

Japan may change stance on arms exports – WSJ
Tokyo is reportedly considering providing artillery shells to replenish US stocks depleted by efforts to weaponize Ukraine
Japan is in talks with the US about shipping artillery rounds from its own arsenals to backfill Washington’s stocks, the Wall Street Journal has reported. The outlet cited the depletion of American ammunition depots due to its military aid to Ukraine.
Japan has for decades refrained from exporting lethal weapons.
In its article on Thursday, the WSJ, citing “people familiar with the talks,” claimed that Tokyo could supply 155mm artillery shells to the US.
The scheme, if approved, would reportedly not entail Japanese ammunition being sent directly to Ukraine.
Japan’s Ministry of Defense said in a statement that no decision had been made so far and that discussions are still underway.
A Pentagon spokesman, meanwhile, merely said that the US continues to “work together with Japan and more than 50 countries around the world to provide support to Ukraine.”
Since Russia launched its military campaign last February, Japan has supplied Ukraine with bulletproof vests, helmets and other nonlethal military aid but has stopped short of shipping weapons to the country.
Currently, the Japanese government is prohibited from sending lethal weapons overseas under self-imposed restrictions dating back to the 1960s.
However, the country’s ruling party and its coalition partner started discussing a relaxation of the rules earlier this year, with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida speaking in favor of doing so.
Late last month, the Wall Street Journal reported that South Korea had agreed to send hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to Ukraine under a “confidential arrangement” with the US.
According to the media outlet, the munitions would first be shipped stateside and then transferred on to Ukraine.
Commenting on the report, a South Korean Defense Ministry spokesperson insisted that there were “inaccurate parts” in the WSJ article, without going into further detail about the supposed agreement.
Much like Japan, South Korea has thus far provided only financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine while refraining from shipping arms.
Washington has authorized the transfer of more than 2 million 155mm shells to Kiev since the start of the conflict, tapping into its stocks in Israel, Germany, Kuwait, and South Korea.
Russia has consistently condemned the US and its allies for supplying weapons to Ukraine, claiming that this will only serve to prolong the bloodshed.

In a shocking series of text messages, the woman accused of driving her Army veteran boyfriend to suicide, told him that he would never see his daughter again and sent him a video of her giving oral sex to her new man.

She described in graphic detail sex with other men and sent a 49-second clip of her performing oral sex on her new partner as she berated Metzger with messages about how he was 'ugly, bald and had rotten teeth.'
Police said the messages for which she was indicted were among the 'most extreme' examples of bullying they had ever seen.

Just six weeks after the barrage of texts, Metzger took to Facebook before killing himself. He wrote: 'I can't do this anymore. She needs [to be] punished. The courts are too slow.'
In messages sent via WhatsApp and seen exclusively by DailyMail.com, Reusch tells Metzger that she's moving in with her new boyfriend, bragging about his sexual prowess.
The volley of messages began at 2.49am on May 5, 2021 - just over a month before Metzger took his own life.
She tells the father of her child that their daughter will refer to her new boyfriend as 'dad' from now on.'You won't see her for Father's Day or any holiday,' Reusch writes while also complaining that Metzger owes her money.
'My kids will be literally better off with any role model other than you… if you show up here again we have a gun and I will call the police.'
'From now on we are [her new boyfriend's surname] and you do not exist. [He] is her dad now. Not you. Don't ever ask about her again. She isn't your daughter. You'll never hear about her again either.'
In another message, the suspect says that she 'hopes' for their daughter's sake that he 'kills himself.'
'She will call [him] "dad" because he's a way better dad than you.Kill yourself. I mean it… I actually want you to kill yourself because I think you are the worst person on this planet.'
n various messages, Reusch accuses Metzger of ruining Mother's Day for her. Seemingly because of this, she is willing to withhold parental access.
'Who knows how big she'll be when you see her again. Or if she will even remember you', she wrote. In one exchange, Reusch says that Metzger killed their dog, Zoe. She says that she is shredding a book of photos of the pet, that the dog actually hated him and that she and her new boyfriend were going to have sex on top of the book.
'That dog f*ing hated you and ran away every chance she could.Just like I ran away to suck anyone else's dk but yours because you're literally the worst person I've ever met in my life,' she wrote.
After saying that he killed their dog, Reusch once again says he will get shot if he attempts to come near to her. On multiple occasions, Reusch refers to Metzger as a 'woman beater' and 'abusive.'
Reusch sends Metzger a photo of her new boyfriend and says that [Metzger] has ruined every holiday 'by making it about [Metzger's] bald head and beer belly and rotting teeth.'
A friend of Metzger's shared with DailyMail.com a Facebook post in which he said that Reusch was trying 'to get me to kill myself for the money. I got the texts.'
'Kevin just wanted to be a present dad and she tormented him for years,' that friend told DailyMail.com.
Later, Reusch says that she will move with their child to West Virginia. 'Call my f***in' bluff,' she texts.
In a separate exchange she wrote: 'I wanted you to be normal and romantic one time. I wanted you to come to an agreement and follow it. It wasn't my fault that we didn't work. But damn am I going to get closure from you turning out to be the abusive f***head that you are.'Reusch followed that message with a 49 second clip showing a woman performing oral sex on her new partner. She does not mention the clip in the text messages.

I had an employee that told me she had three children by three different men and she doggedly follows up on child support. She talked to the case agents personally regularly. Her whole goal was to bear children for money. She reconnected with a guy she hadn't seen or talked since she was 14 and he was 21. (Which was fucking strange). Why is part of the Capitol Building covered in scaffolding?
The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is preserving the building's exterior stone and metals. The project will prevent water infiltration, slow deterioration of the stone and corrosion of the metals, repair damage and remove soil and stains.
What is the purpose of the project?
The project is designed to prolong the life expectancy and preserve the historic features of the building. The project cleans, repairs and preserves the historic stone and the architectural metal throughout the building.
Why is the project starting now?
Previous surveying identified this project as critical and delaying this preservation would cause the building to deteriorate further and more of the U.S. Capitol Building’s historic fabric would be lost.
What are the benefits of the project?
This project will preserve the stone and architectural metals of the building and allow it to continue to function as the home of the United States Congress, the symbol of our democracy and for the enjoyment and education of future generations of Americans.
What will the Capitol look like during constructions?
The project will require scaffolding to execute the work. At night the scaffold and building will be lighted to assist workers as they perform their tasks. A scrim will cover the scaffolding to control dust and water spray.
What are the impacts of this project on visitors and staff?
To minimize the disruption to Congressional business, much of the project work will be performed at night, Monday through Saturday. Quiet tasks will be conducted during daytime hours. The windows will be screened to maintain privacy and safety during the project. Most doors will remain open for both entry and exit, while others will be for exiting only.
Will the rest of the Capitol Building be covered in scaffolding?
Future phases of this project will cover different portions of the building with scaffolding.

The AOC is committed to maximizing taxpayer value. Following full and open competitive bidding, a highly qualified contractor was selected to perform the first phase of the project. The contractor for Phase 2 and Phase 3 was selected from the AOC's Multiple Award Construction Contract, which was determined through an open competition bid process. The AOC will maintain close oversight to ensure the project quality is the highest possible, the project remains on time, within budget and minimizes disruption to the work of Congress.

In June 2022 The Gateway Pundit’s Joe Hoft reported that an Obama judge had sealed the much anticipated Halderman Report on election voting machines using in Georgia.

In 2021, Judge Totenberg committed her gravest offense as a judge. She sealed and covered up the results of the Halderman report in Georgia. Up until this week we did not know what is in this report. Halderman’s investigation into the voting machines in Georgia started before the 2020 Election and was completed in July 2021.
Steve Bannon interviewed Kurt Olsen, about cybersecurity analyst, J. Alex Halderman, who found flaws in Dominion voting machines and warned about the potential for future attacks. Judge Totenberg sealed the report. According to court documents, Halderman wrote his report after he was given 12 weeks of access to an unused Dominion ICX voting machine. Professor Halderman requested the report to be unsealed to be shared with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a standalone United States federal agency responsible for our infrastructure, including our voting systems.
The report eventually made it to the CISA and they released an abbreviated report last year. Many believe that this CISA report was released in an effort to mitigate the results from the Halderman Report when it is finally released.
The Halderman Report was finally released this week. The report confirms that votes can be altered in the Dominion voting machines. In fact, the report reveals that the Dominion software can be hacked.
On Thursday VoterGA founder Garland Favorito joined Steve Bannon on The War Room to discuss the findings from the explosive report.

The Secretary of State of Louisiana requested that it be released. OAN requested that it would be released for part of their lawsuit. I think Fox News as well, because Dominion is suing them. It’s critical information, but it’s critical to the security of elections in the country because you could do Dr. Halderman could have done the same thing to a different vendor as well.

JUST IN: Global Cyberattack Hits Multiple US Federal Government Agencies
A global cyberattack exploiting a flaw in widely-used software has struck several US federal government agencies, triggering an immediate and rigorous response from cybersecurity officials.
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) confirmed the attacks in a statement to CNN.

US Pressures Israel to Decrease Ties with China
Washington is attempting to pressure Tel Aviv into pulling back on its ties and trade with China, according to a report in Voice of America. After the European Union and the United States, the People’s Republic is Israel’s largest trade partner.
The report discusses some developments regarding a series of joint Israeli-Chinese infrastructure projects in Israel, including a recently augmented Chinese operated shipping port in the city of Haifa. Chinese companies were also building parts of the Tel Aviv light rail system until Washington leaned on Tel Aviv to instead favor Israeli and European firms.
Hebrew University’s Yuri Pines told VOA that “China [now] has the best infrastructure in the world. China is able to export its knowledge, its know-how, its engineers, its workers, and Israel has benefited enormously.” Though, the US has pressed Israel over the relationship and Tel Aviv is reportedly curtailing some of its economic agreements with China.
Biden has escalated America’s economic war against Beijing, including by imposing harsh sanctions and attempting to cripple the Chinese semiconductor industry. At the same time, this White House has expanded the Pentagon’s vast military buildup in the Asia-Pacific, eyeing a future war between the world’s two largest economies.
Gedaliah Afterman of Reichman University says “there is growing pressure from the United States on Israel to limit its engagement with China, specifically on infrastructure and technology. And that pressure is starting to yield results.”
Beijing recently pulled off an unprecedented diplomatic feat when it brokered a normalization deal between Riyadh and Tehran. The agreement saw a full restoration of diplomatic ties between the two longtime rivals, as well as plans to expand bilateral cooperation and trade in the future.
Business between China and the Arab world is hitting all-time highs, with the total volume of trade reaching a record $430 billion last year. Saudi Arabia accounts for 25% of that massive figure, with a bilateral trade volume of $106 billion.
Over the weekend, Riyadh and Beijing signed $10 billion worth of deals spanning electric vehicles, renewable energy, agriculture, real estate, technology, metals, healthcare and tourism. Additionally, China has inked a 25-year strategic and economic partnership with Iran worth $400 billion.
According to Al Jazeera, “The [Saudi] kingdom’s officials have said more announcements can be expected, with Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud saying more energy deals would be forthcoming. He also brushed off Western criticism of growing Saudi ties with China, saying the kingdom would prioritize its business interests.”
Pines explained to Voice of America that there has been a shift in the thinking of some Israeli analysts who see China, a significant partner of Iran as well as the Palestinians, as largely benefiting the region with its actions. “It is so rare to have in the Middle East a major country which is really neutral, which It is not engaged in… it’s neither pro-Israeli, nor pro-Iranian, nor pro-Saudi, nor pro-Egyptian. It is just a neutral country interested in economic ties with all parts of this very complicated Middle East equation,” he said. The academic added that Beijing may be the only country in the world capable of brokering a peace deal between Israel and Iran.

Texas Reinstates Election Fraud as a Felony Crime with a Maximum 20-Year Prison Sentence
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a significant bill on Tuesday that intensifies the state’s stance against election fraud.
The new law, known as House Bill 1243, has reinstated election fraud as a serious criminal offense – a felony that carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
Governor Abbott has been clear about his support for the new law. He even took to Twitter to share the news, writing, “I signed a law that makes election fraud a felony in Texas. Voting illegally can lead to a 20-year sentence. Don’t mess with Texas elections.”
According to the Dallas News, election fraud’s classification in Texas has been a roller coaster ride in recent years. Only a few years ago, a Republican-led initiative in the Texas House opted to reduce the penalty for election fraud from a felony to a misdemeanor. This was done in response to rising concerns over the possibility of accidental illegal voting.
However, the tide has turned again as lawmakers have decided to reinstate the felony classification. The bill was passed in the House on April 28, 2023, with a vote of 88-60, and was later approved in the Senate with a 19-11 vote on May 24. The law will officially come into effect on September 1, 2023.
The sponsor of the bill, Representative Cole Hefner, has been vocal about the need for the law. He asserts that its primary goal is to bolster Texans’ confidence in the voting process.
In Hefner’s words, “We must ensure that Texans are confident that the legitimate votes they cast will be counted and are not canceled out by someone who has knowingly or intentionally cast an illegal ballot.”
The Republican Party in Texas has continuously made election fraud a key issue, especially during President Donald Trump’s tenure as party leader. Following the 2020 election, wherein Trump contested the results of widespread fraud, there was an amplified push for comprehensive election laws. This led to the enactment of significant legislation in 2021.
The 2021 law brought several changes to the mail ballot process, including the introduction of new voter ID checks.
The Gateway Pundit reported in 2021 that Raquel Rodriguez, a consultant for GOP House candidate Mauro Garza was caught on camera coercing and bribing voters into voting Democrat.
Later on, Rodriguez admits that what she is doing is illegal and brags about giving the elderly voter a pretty shawl as a gift for her Democrat vote!
Ken Paxton announced Raquel Rodriguez was arrested for election fraud, illegal voting, unlawfully assisting people voting by mail, and unlawfully possessing an official ballot following the Project Veritas expose.
In 2019, Texas Secretary of State David Whitley announced a voter fraud alert after 95,000 individuals identified by DPS as non-U.S. citizens have a matching voter registration record in Texas, approximately 58,000 of whom have voted in one or more Texas elections.
And during the 2022 midterm election, more than 16,000 ballots were rejected.

Bill Cosby Sued by 9 More Women in Nevada for Alleged Decades-Old Sexual Assaults
LAS VEGAS—Nine more women are accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault in a lawsuit that alleges he used his “enormous power, fame and prestige” to victimize them.
A lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in Nevada alleges that the women were individually drugged and assaulted between approximately 1979 and 1992 in Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe homes, dressing rooms and hotels.
One woman alleges that Cosby, claiming to be her acting mentor, lured her from New York to Nevada, where he drugged her in a hotel room with what he had claimed to be non-alcoholic sparkling cider and then raped her.
The 85-year-old former “Cosby Show” star has now been accused of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment by more than 60 women. He has denied all allegations involving sex crimes. He was the first celebrity tried and convicted in the #MeToo era—and spent nearly three years at a state prison near Philadelphia before a higher court threw out the conviction and released him in 2021.
Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 to a woman who said Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 in 1975.
The Nevada lawsuit came only a few weeks after Gov. Joe Lombardo signed a bill that eliminated a two-year deadline for adults to file sexual abuse cases. Similar suits have followed other “lookback laws” in other states.
One of the plaintiffs, Lise-Lotte Lublin, a Nevada native, had advocated for the change. She had previously alleged that Cosby gave her spiked drinks and raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 1989.
The Associated Press does not identify people who say they have been sexually assaulted unless they come forward publicly.
“For years I have fought for survivors of sexual assault and today is the first time I will be able to fight for myself,” Lotte-Lublin said in a statement cited by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “With the new law change, I now have the ability to take my assailant Bill Cosby to court. My journey has just begun, but I am grateful for this opportunity to find justice.”
In California, a former Playboy model who alleges Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her and another woman at his home in 1969 sued him on June 1 under a new California law that suspends the statute of limitations on sex abuse claims.
Cosby publicist Andrew Wyatt blasted such laws in a statement Wednesday.
“Mr. Cosby is a Citizen of these United States but these judges and lawmakers are consistently allowing these civil suits to flood their dockets—knowing that these women are not fighting for victims—but for their addiction to massive amounts of media attention and greed,” Wyatt said.
“From this day forward, we will not continue to allow these women to parade various accounts of an alleged allegation against Mr. Cosby anymore without vetting them in the court of public opinion and inside of the courtroom,” Wyatt said.
In the latest suit, the women contend that Cosby “used his enormous power, fame, and prestige, and claimed interest in helping them and/or their careers as a pretense to isolate and sexually assault them.”

Referencing Twisted Sister's classic hit song, "We're Not Gonna Take It," Snider said he's "not gonna take it" when he is called a "transphobe" because he does not support children making permanent decisions to reaffirm the gender they identify with, Fox News Digital reported Thursday.
Snider, a pro-choice Christian who has said he is "not a conservative," said in the interview that he thinks gender reassignment for minors is irresponsible parenting.
"I think irresponsible parenting is the norm these days rather than the exception. I’m amazed sometimes at just the missteps, and there are things that seem so obvious and yet some parents just don’t seem to get it," he said.
"We’re all making mistakes here but as a parent there are certain things that you come to know, and one thing you come to know is that your kids don’t know everything," he also said. "Certainly, the younger you are, the less ability you have to make really the smartest decisions, lifetime decisions."

Congress had passed the law in response to the high rate that Native American and Alaska Native children were being taken away from their families by private and public groups. The law requires states to inform tribes and try to place the children with extended family, members of their tribe or other Native American families.

Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman Says Republicans Won’t ‘Find’ Joe Biden’s Alleged Bribery Tapes
Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) claimed Friday that Republicans will not “find” the alleged “bribery” tapes linked to President Joe Biden.
According to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), an FBI informant document says the founder of Bursima, Mykola Zlochevsky, allegedly paid Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden and kept 17 audio recordings of his conversations with them as an “insurance policy.”
Goldman, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, told Punchbowl News that Republicans either know the tapes are not real or they will never obtain them.
“I actually think they either know that [the tapes] don’t exist or they know that they will never get them,” he said. “Instead, what they’re doing is using the veiled reference to them to make allegations that will never be able to be proved or disproved, because they’re not going to find them.”
On Thursday House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) told Fox News the FBI document is based on a very credible source and should be taken seriously.
“This informant has been paid over $200,000 dollars from the FBI,” he said. “We believe this informant may also work for potentially the CIA. And this informant has been around since the Obama administration.”
Comer added the FBI told him that ‘”we can’t release documents or tell you anything about potential tapes because it could endanger the life of the FBI informant.'”
Meanwhile, FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate on Tuesday refused to answer Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) during a Judiciary Committee hearing about whether the FBI possesses the tapes.
“I’m not going to get further into that,” he replied after admitting the FBI possesses the form that alleges the 17 recordings.
“Senator, no one’s stonewalling,” Abbate claimed.

Special Counsel Investigating Biden Classified Docs Has Been Radio Silent For Six Months
While former President Donald Trump was recently indicted on various charges related to his alleged possession of classified documents, there have been few public updates in Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation of Joe Biden for similar concerns over mishandling of classified information.
The Justice Department appointed Special Counsel Robert Hur on Jan. 12 to investigate President Biden for his handling and possession of classified documents, some of which date back decades to Biden’s time in the Senate. The documents, discovered from November 2022 to January 2023, have been found at the President’s former office at his D.C. think tank and his garage at his Delaware home.
However, after roughly six months since the investigation began, there have been few updates from Hur or the Justice Department, and reports indicate key steps of the investigation have yet to be undertaken.
“Hur’s investigation of classified documents allegedly found to be improperly in Biden’s possession appears to have all but disappeared,” wrote Jonathan Turley, law professor at George Washington University, in a column Wednesday. “The concern in many minds is that, once again, there may be a stark difference in how the Justice Department pursues Trump versus his opponents.”
Since his appointment, it remains unclear whether Hur has filed for any subpoenas, or requested a statement from Biden, who has said that he is “cooperating fully and completely” with the DOJ investigation. Three people familiar with the matter told NBC News that even with Biden’s apparent cooperation, he still has yet to be interviewed by Hur – despite months of prep time by his aides.
“I think you’re going to find there’s nothing there – I have no regrets,” Biden said to a reporter in January. “I’m following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do, and that’s exactly what we’re doing. There’s no ‘there’ there.”
Turley told Fox News Digital that Hur and the DOJ might be protecting Biden by avoiding an interview entirely.
“Hur can insulate President Biden by avoiding a direct interview or statement from him on these facts,” Turley said to Fox. “It is a crime to lie to federal investigators under 18 U.S.C. 1001. With Trump, the Justice Department was highly aggressive. The public is likely to watch to see if Hur shows the same no-holds-barred attitude of Smith.”

Former PM Boris Johnson Claims ‘Political Assassination’ as Committee Rules he Misled Parliament
The UK Parliament’s Privileges Committee publishes its report on Boris Johnson, stating it believes he deliberately misled the House over ‘Partygate’, a claim the former PM continues to deny, decrying the “kangaroo court” and “political assassination” against him.
Boris Johnson would be suspended from Parliament for 90 days for misleading members, the House Privileges Committee has ruled, a serious punishment that would be served had former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson not already resigned from Parliament last week. Instead, the Committee recommended Johnson not be allowed to hold a former member’s pass for the House of Commons.
The report stems from comments made by Johnson when he was Prime Minister about gatherings held at his official office and residence in Downing Street in 2020 and 2021. Standing accused of breaking the very Coronavirus lockdown rules he and his government had devised and forced on the British public, Johnson insisted that he had followed all rules and the gatherings had been legal. It was later ruled they had not been, prompting Johnson to stand down as Prime Minister in 2022.
He has maintained since that he did not consciously mislead parliament, and that what he told members were actually honest mistakes.
Since that, Johnson has said that while he initially trusted the processes around the investigations into parties at Downing Street and his comments on them, he claims to have subsequently discovered they are not neutral arbiters of the truth but rather politically motivated. In his response to the report today, Johnson wrote:
It is now many months since people started to warn me about the intentions of the Privileges Committee. They told me that it was a kangaroo court. They told me that it was being driven relentlessly by the political agenda of Harriet Harman, and supplied with skewed legal advice – with the sole political objective of finding me guilty and expelling me from parliament.
They also warned me that most members had already expressed prejudicial views – especially Harriet Harman – in a way that would not be tolerated in a normal legal process… This report is a charade. I was wrong to believe in the Committee or its good faith. The terrible truth is that it is not I who has twisted the truth to suit my purposes. It is Harriet Harman and her Committee.
Harriet Harman is a veteran of the last Labour government and now is the Privileges Committee chair.
Johnson warned the attack, which he has characterised as a “political assassination” against him was a “dreadful day for MPs and for democracy” and opened a precedent for “vendetta” by committees against politicians in future. Johnson accuses the findings of contravening the findings of the police themselves, who cleared Johnson of lawbreaking in their investigation.
While Johnson’s allies have rallied to his cause, others have met with pleasure the report finding that Johnson misled Parliament. The BBC’s analysis has called the findings a “brutal demolition” of Johnson’s defence. In terms of history, their correspondent says: “If you think about the several hundred year history of parliament, there’s nothing like this”.

Grigory Leps and several other artists said they hoped their colleagues would join the initiative to support Russian troops.
A group of Russian pop stars has offered a bounty to the country’s servicemen for the destruction or capture of Western-supplied military hardware in Ukraine. Since Kiev’s Western backers announced plans to deliver tanks earlier this year, a number of Russian businessmen and officials have promised similar payments.
Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Wednesday, the leader of the band ‘Zemlyane’ (The Earthlings), Vladimir Kiselev, came forward with an initiative to remunerate Russian troops to the tune of 1 million rubles ($13,000) for each Western-made tank taken off the battlefield.
Russian singers Grigory Leps and Nikolay Baskov backed the idea, with the former saying: “We do our own thing as we see fit, they do theirs.”
Leps also vowed to continue “helping our fighters as long as the ground holds us.”
Baskov explained that he and his fellow musicians support the Russian military not only through their songs but also via other means.
“I hope that a huge number of our colleagues will join” their initiative, the singer added.

Facebook parent company Meta unveils new app to rival Twitter: WSJ
Meta recently revealed to employees a solo app it plans to launch through Instagram in competition with Twitter, according to people with knowledge of the matter, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Chief Product Officer Chris Cox told Meta employees that the company has heard from public figures and creators who desire “a sanely run” platform. The company is currently in talks to have celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and public figures like the Dalai Lama commit to using the app, Cox said, adding that the company is planning to launch “as soon as we can.”
The app has been reported as being internally code-named Project 92, a person with knowledge of the software said.
Late Last year, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk finalized his $44 billion purchase of Twitter and quickly fired multiple executives. He later revealed that the social media giant “has interfered in elections” before vowing to make the platform more “effective, transparent and even-handed.”
In September, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry revealed that a lawsuit filed earlier last year forced the Department of Justice (DOJ) to reveal emails exposing at least 45 federal officials who “communicate[d] with social media platforms about ‘misinformation’ and censorship,’” including Twitter.
The emails showed the Biden administration colluded with social media companies to censor Americans in an effort that involved officials at the White House, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, State Department, Treasury Department, U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and more.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg also spoke at the meeting, commenting on rival company Apple’s recently announced $3,500 Vision Pro headset. Zuckerberg reportedly said he was glad Apple did not give any “magical solutions…to any of the constraints on laws and physics that our teams haven’t already explored and thought of.”
Zuckerberg’s statements came a week after the company announced the Quest 3, the most recent edition of Meta’s computing headset. The device is expected to start at $499 when it goes on sale this fall.
“Their announcement really showcases the difference in the values and the vision that our companies bring to this in a way that I think is really important,” Zuckerberg said, according to people familiar with the meeting. “We innovate to make sure that our products are as accessible and affordable to everyone as possible.”

Ukraine Wants US-Made F/A-18 Fighter Jets from Australia
Australia has 41 F/A-18 jets that its air force has retired
Ukraine is eyeing dozens of US-made F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets that have been retired by the Australian Royal Air Force as part of its efforts to secure more Western-made aircraft.
According to AFP, Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko said Kyiv has asked Canberra about the condition of 41 F/A-18 jets that are stored in an air base north of Sydney.
“There has been a request for information,” Myroshnychenko said. “Ukraine is looking at fighter jet capabilities, including this one.”
Last week, The Australian Financial Review reported that discussions were underway between Australia, Ukraine, and the US on sending the 41 jets to Kyiv. Sources told the newspaper that the US was “favorably disposed” to the idea of giving the F/A-18s to Ukraine.
When President Biden first gave the green light for European countries to send F-16s to Ukraine, US officials said the administration supported training Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation aircraft, which include the F/A-18.
Providing fighter jets would mark a significant escalation of Australia’s support for Ukraine. So far, Canberra has pledged about $340 million in military aid for Kyiv, including armored vehicles, drones, and 155-millimeter howitzers.
Russia has strongly warned the US and its allies against providing F-16s and other Western-made aircraft, but the Biden administration isn’t as concerned about escalating the war as it was earlier in the conflict and has brushed off Moscow’s warnings.

‘Dances With Wolves’ Actor Charged With Nine More Crimes, Including Sexual Exploitation
Additional arrest warrants have been issued for “Dances With Wolves” actor Nathan Chasing Horse, who is already in jail awaiting trial for charges related to himallegedly running a sex cult.
The warrants, which have been issued by Canadian authorities, include nine additional charges, including three counts of sexual exploitation, four counts of sexual assault, one count ofsexual interference with a person under the age of 16, and one count of removal of a child from Canada under the age of 16, the Daily Beast reported. In a news release, the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service said that the investigation spanned several years, with one offense allegedly occurring in 2005, the CBC reported.
The actor has been in a Las Vegas, Nevada, jail on 18 felony charges, including sexual assault of a minor, child abuse, and kidnapping since January.
Chasing Horse was arrested in late January following a SWAT raid on his home in North Las Vegas, the New York Post reported. Chasing Horse reportedly lived at the home with five wives, with one allegedly given to him as a “gift” when she was just 15 and another becoming his wife after she turned 16.
In a 50-page search warrant obtained by the Associated Press, authorities alleged that Chasing Horse is the leader of a cult called The Circle, where he used his position to allegedly abuse underage Native American girls. Authorities investigated Chasing Horse for months after receiving a tip in October 2022, though it is alleged that his crimes have been ongoing for about two decades.
Chasing Horse was known for his role as Smiles a Lot, a young Sioux tribe member, in the film “Dances With Wolves.” Following his appearance in the film, Chasing Horse was known as a medicine man among tribes in the U.S. and Canada and would perform healing ceremonies and spiritual gatherings, the AP reported. It was in this position that Chasing Horse allegedly abused at least six victims, including at least one as young as 13.
“Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions,” the search warrant said, according to the AP.
The search warrant added that Chasing Horse’s followers apparently believed he could actually communicate with higher beings, and called him “Medicine Man” or “Holy Person.”
Chasing Horse was arrested for crimes allegedly committed in Clark County, Nevada, but the search warrant reportedly includes information pertaining to crimes committed in other states, including Montana and South Dakota and other parts of Nevada. Chasing Horse is accused of sex trafficking and sexual assault of a child younger than 16, as well as child abuse. In addition, he is alleged to have recorded sexual assaults and arranged for other men to have sex with the victims for a fee.
The warrant also alleged that Chasing Horse was kicked off the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana, in 2015 after being accused of human trafficking.
Chasing Horse’s attorneys argue that his accusers wanted to have sex with him, according to the CBC.

After more than two decades as America’s best-selling beer, Bud Light has slipped into second place.
Modelo Especial, a Mexican lager, overtook Bud Light in U.S. retail dollar sales in the month ending June 3, according to Nielsen data analyzed by Bump Williams Consulting. Modelo controlled 8.4% of U.S. grocery, convenience and liquor store sales; Bud Light fell to 7.3%.

It’s a milestone in Bud Light’s months-long sales decline since early April, when critics who were angered by the brewer sending a commemorative can to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney vowed to boycott the brand. Bud Light has also faced backlash from Mulvaney’s fans, who think the brand didn’t do enough to support her.
Dave William, Bump Williams’ vice president of analytics and insights, said Bud Light has been the top-selling U.S. beer since 2001, and it could still retain that crown this year. He noted that Bud Light’s year-to-date market share of 9% is still outpacing Modelo’s, at 8%. And Bud Light’s sales volumes are higher.
But Modelo appears to have the advantage, with its dollar sales increasing by double-digit percentages every week. The launch of a new light beer, Modelo Oro, in May is also boosting awareness of the brand.
Sales in bars and restaurants, which are harder to track, aren’t included in the retail numbers, and Bud Light far outpaced Modelo in those venues prior to April. But David Steinman, the vice president and executive editor of Beer Marketer’s Insights, said Modelo’s bar and restaurant sales have been growing quickly, and it’s believed that Bud Light took an even steeper sales hit in bars and restaurants than in groceries.
Bud Light’s U.S. retail sales were down 24% the week ending June 3, while Modelo Especial sales were up 12%, according to Dave Williams.
Scott Scanlon, an executive vice president at the consulting firm Circana who follows the alcohol market, said Mexican imports like Modelo and Corona have been the biggest bright spots in the otherwise stagnant U.S. beer market for years.

Kevin Spacey Discusses Alleged Sexual Abuse Scandals: ‘In 10 Years, It Won’t Mean Anything’
Actor Kevin Spacey said he isn’t concerned about the future of his Hollywood career despite current and past sexual assault charges.
“I know that there are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London. The second that happens, they’re ready to move forward,” the 63-year-old told ZEITmagazin ahead of his London trial, which begins June 28 and is expected to last four weeks.
Spacey’s legal drama began in 2017 during the height of the #MeToo movement when “Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp claimed that Spacey made a sexual advance toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26.
Spacey posted on Twitter that he did not remember having that experience with Rapp, but didn’t rule it out.
“But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior,” Spacey wrote on social media while simultaneously coming out as gay.
“This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are other stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy,” he wrote, saying he was planning to “live as a gay man” going forward.
The allegations spurred 15 other people to come forward with their own stories of alleged sexual abuse from Spacey. The actor currently faces 12 sexual assault cases in the U.K. and pleaded not guilty to all of them.
