EXCLUSIVE: A government watchdog group is filing a federal lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), arguing the agency has stonewalled records detailing Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's use of private government jets.

The group, Americans for Public Trust (APT), said it has repeatedly requested FAA records detailing how often Buttigieg has used the agency's small fleet of jets and the taxpayer costs associated with those flights. But, according to its lawsuit first seen by Fox News Digital, the FAA has improperly delayed producing the records on three separate information requests filed by APT.

"Pete Buttigieg abused taxpayer dollars by using a private jet to fly domestically and internationally," Caitlin Sutherland, APT's executive director, told Fox News Digital. "It’s been six months since we helped expose Secretary Buttigieg’s trips, but his agency refuses to tell the American people how much they’re on the hook for his extravagant travel arrangements."

"Buttigieg’s FAA has stonewalled and refused to adhere to the law for releasing public records, so we’re filing suit on behalf of all Americans who deserve to know how their money is being spent by this administration," she continued.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, federal agencies are required to provide requested records within 20 working days, or 30 working days if an extension is determined to be necessary. The requesting party is allowed to pursue legal action if a court determines it has exhausted its administrative remedies.

Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Mike Braun, R-Ind., wrote in a letter sent to Biden on Wednesday and shared with Fox News Digital.

The carried interest loophole has remained vexing for multiple administrations. On at least one occasion, former President Donald Trump railed against the loophole on the campaign trail. But he never invested significant energy in eliminating it, sparing it in his far-reaching tax cut legislation in 2017 – and creating a new path for high-income earners to avoid top income tax rates.

President Joe Biden similarly promised to end the special tax treatment but failed after fierce lobbying from the investment fund industry.

Last year, as congressional negotiators hashed out the final stages of the Inflation Reduction Act, the loophole’s closure appeared imminent.

But a last-minute lobbying blitz from the American Investment Council, which represents leading private equity and hedge funds, along with pressure from the real estate industry, convinced Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona an independent who identified as a Democrat at the time to kill the measure. In the end, Biden signed the legislation without any change to the carried interest tax rule.

Hunter Biden and his business partners with ties to Burisma attended a December 2015 holiday party hosted by the then-vice president Biden just a few days after he returned from his famous trip to Ukraine, where he threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid if the country’s leaders did not fire their top prosecutor, according to records reviewed by Fox News Digital.

As vice president, Biden traveled to Ukraine, where he famously put pressure on the country’s leaders to fire then-Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder and former president of Burisma Holdings, where Hunter served as a board member from April 2014 to April 2019. Biden's defenders have said that Shokin was fired not because he was pursuing corruption too aggressively, but rather because he was too lax.

Biden visited Ukraine from Dec. 7-9, 2015. Three months after the visit, Shokin was fired, and Biden would later use it to boast about his foreign policy skills.

"I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money," Biden said in 2018, according to a transcript of his remarks at the Council on Foreign Relations. "Well, son of a b—-. (Laughter.) He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time."

After Biden returned to Washington from his short trip to Ukraine, he hosted a holiday party at the vice president's Naval observatory residence on Dec. 12, 2015, where Hunter and several of his business partners from his now-dissolved investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners were also in attendance, records show.

According to White House visitor logs, Hunter visited the White House on Dec. 12, 2015, with Rosemont Seneca co-founder Devon Archer, Rosemont Seneca President Eric Schwerin, and Sebastian Momtazi, an associate who worked in Rosemont Seneca’s New York City office with Archer. Archer, who was also on the Burisma board with Hunter, and Momtazi both had Burisma.com email addresses, according to emails reviewed by Fox News Digital.

While the visitor logs don’t specify the business partners were there for a vice presidential party, it did say they were there for "holiday reception." Hunter was scheduled to attend a "VP Holiday Party" at 3PM that day with Archer and several others, according to an email from his abandoned laptop, which has been verified by Fox News Digital.

The report stated that Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., wrote in a letter to Archer's attorney thathe "played a significant role in the Biden family's business deals abroad, including but not limited to China, Russia, and Ukraine."

Archer, who served with Hunter on Burisma's board, lost an appeal last week to have his unrelated 2018 conviction and one-year federal prison sentence for a scheme to defraud a Native American tribe thrown out.Hunter did not have a connection to the fraud scheme.

Bioprinting personalized tissues and organs within the body: A breakthrough in regenerative medicine

In situ bioprinting, which involves 3D printing biocompatible structures and tissues directly within the body, has seen steady progress over the past few years. In a recent study, a team of researchers developed a handheld bioprinter that addresses key limitations of previous designs, i.e., the ability to print multiple materials and control the physicochemical properties of printed tissues. This device will pave the way for a wide variety of applications in regenerative medicine, drug development and testing, and custom orthotics and prosthetics.

he emergence of regenerative medicine has resulted in substantial improvements in the lives of patients worldwide through the replacement, repair, or regeneration of damaged tissues and organs. It is a promising solution to challenges such as the lack of organ donors or transplantation-associated risks. One of the major advancements in regenerative medicine is on-site (or "in situ") bioprinting, an extension of 3D printing technology, which is used to directly synthesize tissues and organs within the human body. It shows great potential in facilitating the repair and regeneration of defective tissues and organs.

Although significant progress has been made in this field, currently used in situ bioprinting technologies are not devoid of limitations. For instance, certain devices are only compatible with specific types of bioink, while others can only create small patches of tissue at a time. Moreover, their designs are usually complex, making them unaffordable and restricting their applications.

In a breakthrough study published in Biofabrication, a research team including Mr. Erik Pagan and Associate Professor Mohsen Akbari from the University of Victoria in Canada, developed a handheld in situ bioprinter with a convenient modular design, that allows the printing of complex biocompatible structures.

"Two decades ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, which eventually led to the removal of her breast. This affected her well-being considerably. It made me realize that a technology like handheld bioprinting could not only help develop personalized implants for breast reconstruction that match the shape and size of the patient's tissue, but also be used to create tumor models for the study of breast cancer biology. Such applications could significantly improve treatment outcomes for affected patients," says Prof. Akbari while discussing his motivation underlying this study.

A key feature of the handheld device is the presence of multiple bioink cartridges, each independently controlled by a pneumatic system. Owing to this, the device operator has ample control over the printing mixture, making it easier to develop structures with the required properties. Moreover, the device has a cooling module and a light emitting diode photocuring module, which provide additional control.

This versatile in situ bioprinter has several applications. Prof. Akbari elaborates, "In situ bioprinting is suitable for repairing large defects caused by trauma, surgery, or cancer, which requires large-scale tissue constructs. In the long term, this technology can eliminate the need for organ donors, while also lowering the risks associated with transplantation, allowing patients to enjoy longer and healthier lives."

Another notable potential application of this device is the production of drug delivery systems. An operator could construct scaffolds or structures that release a precise quantity of drugs as well as cells at specific locations within the body. This would make drugs more efficient, minimize side effects associated with them, and improve their safety. The technology reported in this paper may also speed up the discovery of new drugs by allowing scientists to develop more accurate drug testing models.

What's more, it has the potential to develop custom prosthetics and orthopedic implants. Due to its portable nature, this bioprinter may help physicians match a patient's tissue anatomy with greater accuracy and convenience, thus enhancing the functionality and aesthetic of the bioprinted construct.

The findings of this study can significantly benefit researchers and physicians dedicated to improving the scope of regenerative medicine and enable collaborative research, which can accelerate further development of this technology.

Sheesh, 20 House Republicans Join With Democrats to Stop Censure of the Insufferable Adam Schiff

Good grief, who needs Democrat firepower when you can always count on Republicans to shoot themselves to save their enemies. Twenty House Republicans joined with House Democrats to defeat a censure motion that would have triggered an investigation of the notoriously corrupt Adam Schiff (CA).

Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), who really does seem to be a great MAGA addition to the House, created a censure motion that she advanced on Tuesday. Luna’s measure would have formally reprimanded Schiff for his conduct while Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), where he lied about Trump-Russia intelligence.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blocked Schiff from the HPSCI this year and Luna’s measure would have established an ethics investigation that could have resulted in a $16,000,000 fine if they found he committed the infractions.

As ridiculous as this sounds, 20 House Republicans came quickly to Adam Schiff’s defense. Current “Republican” HPSCI Chairman Mike Turner (OH) was one of the GOP members who supported Schiff along with Republican Thomas Massie (KY) who recently endorsed Ron DeSantis.What a bunch of knuckleheads.

(WASHINGTON DC) – Republicans joined most Democrats in voting to table a measure to censure Rep. Adam Schiff for his previous leadership of the House Intelligence Committee and probes into former President Donald Trump.

The vote: The measure was tabled by a 225-196 vote, with 20 Republicans voting alongside most Democrats. Other Democratic lawmakers were lined up ready to defend the Californian on the floor, but Wednesday’s vote stops the effort from advancing to a full House vote.

Schiff’s response: “It’s a continuation of a downward spiral. There are a number of members here now who are just kind of ugly performance artists. It’s all about getting attention, doesn’t matter whether it’s good attention or bad attention, it’s all about the notoriety,” Schiff told reporters after the vote.

Republicans from districts won by President Joe Biden like Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) and the current chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Turner (R-Ohio), were among the Republicans who voted with Democrats to defeat the measure.

Seven lawmakers voted present on the measure, including all five Democratic members of the House Ethics Committee and Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.). Democratic ethics panel members generally vote present on any ethics matters that come before the House. (more)

She could have said “he should pay 1/2 the cost of what he shenanigans created by government investogations. And just add $1 million, its about the censure really. After split with GOP, here's who Les Wexner still backs financially

Even after ending his political affiliation with the Republican Party, L Brands CEO Les Wexner continues to donate to politicians across the country – and across party lines.

In September 2018, the longtime Republican donor made national headlines by announcing he had quit the party.Since then, Wexner has cut the level of his political contributions, according to data from the Federal Elections Commission.

But that doesn't mean he's stopped the flow of cash entirely.

An analysis of Wexner's $922,300 in state and federal giving over the past three years shows a sharp decline in overall contributions in the past year, along with a broadening of recipients to include more Democrats. A Wexner spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on his donation history.

This dataset excludes contributions by Abigail Wexner, who primarily contributes to Democrats, but in smaller amounts.

Federal contributions

On the federal level, Les Wexner donated $16,200 over the course of 2019, according to FEC data, compared to $95,900 in 2018 and $557,700 in 2017.

Last year, $5,000 went to the Support to Ensure Victory Everywhere PAC – commonly called the STEVE PAC – a benefactor mostly to Republicans and whose recipients last year included Ohioans Troy Balderson, Steve Chabot, Mike Turner, Warren Davidson, Jim Renacci, Brad Wenstrup, Bill Johnston, David Joyce, Bob Gibbs and Anthony Gonzalez, according to an analysis from the Center For Responsive Politics. The group does support a small number of Democrats.

In September, Wexner contributed $2,800 to Sen. Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican.

The retail magnate also made donations to two Democratic lawmakers, including $2,800 to Columbus Democrat Rep. Joyce Beatty. In April, he gave $5,600 to the U.S. Senate campaign of Colorado State Sen. Mike Johnston, who went on to end his bid for U.S. Senate in September.

In 2018, Wexner’s contributions included $33,900 to the National Republican Congressional Committee, $33,900 to then House Speaker Paul Ryan and gifts to Portman, Balderson and Gonzalez, as well as the STEVE PAC.

He did donate $2,700 to Beatty in 2018, after his September decision to leave the Republican party. That was his first donation to a Democrat in five years.

Wexner also donated to the L Brands PAC and the New Albany PAC in 2018, both of which support Ohio House members from both parties.

In 2017, Wexner’s donations included $237,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee and $300,000 to With Honor, a “cross-partisan” group that backs veteran candidates.

Wexner’s 2016 political giving topped $440,000, including $250,000 to the presidential campaign of former Gov. John Kasich and big donations to Ryan, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

M15: Dense Globular Star Cluster

Messier 15 is an immense swarm of over 100,000 stars. A 13 billion year old relic of the early formative years of our galaxy it's one of about 170 globular star clusters that still roam the halo of the Milky Way. Centered in this sharp reprocessed Hubble image, M15 lies some 35,000 light-years away toward the constellation Pegasus. Its diameter is about 200 light-years, but more than half its stars are packed into the central 10 light-years or so, making one of the densest concentrations of stars known. Hubble-based measurements of the increasing velocities of M15's central stars are evidence that a massive black hole resides at the center of the dense cluster. M15 is also known to harbour a planetary nebula. Called Pease 1 (aka PN Ps 1), it can be seen in this image as a small blue blob below and just right of center.
