What the Truckers Want

I’ve spoken to 100 of the protestors gathered in the Canadian capital. What's happening is far bigger than the vaccine mandates.

For two weeks, the 18-wheelers, the semis, the tractors and the pick-up trucks streamed through the snow and ice into the center of Ottawa, the Canadian capital.

They came from across the country. Vaxxed, unvaxxed, white, black, Chinese, Sikh, Indian, alone or with their wives and kids. They huddled around campfires. They set up pop-up kitchens and tents with block captains doling out coffee and blankets. They honked (and honked and honked). They blasted “We Are the World.” And everywhere you looked, someone was waving the Maple Leaf.

It dipped to 4 degrees. The mayor declared a state of emergency. And they didn’t budge.

The truckers were scared of running out of gas—freezing to death in their little truck beds in the middle of the night. The city threatened to arrest anyone who brought it to them. In response, hundreds of Ottawans did just that. The truckers stayed put.

They are a city inside a city whose inhabitants—there are an estimated 8,000 to 10,000—were outraged with a country that seemed to have forgotten they existed. This past Sunday, as if to confirm that suspicion, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who has yet to meet with Freedom Convoy leaders, took a personal day. On Monday, during an emergency debate at the House of Commons, he called them “a few people shouting and waving swastikas.”

​​I live in downtown Ottawa, within view of Parliament Hill, and have spent the past 10 days or so bundled up and walking around the protests. I have spoken to close to 100 protesters, truckers and other folks, and not one of them sounded like an insurrectionist, white supremacist, racist or misogynist.

They sound like Ivan, 46, who emigrated, with his wife, Tatiana, from Ukraine to build a new life in New Brunswick, in eastern Canada. "We came to Canada to be free—not slaves,” he said. “We lived under communism, and, in Canada, we’re now fighting for our freedom.” (Like so many truckers, Ivan refused to share his last name.)

B.J. Dichter, a spokesman for the Freedom Convoy, is vaccinated, and he estimates that many—maybe most—of the truckers at the protest are, too. “I’m Jewish. I have family in mass graves in Europe. And apparently I’m a white supremacist,” he told me on Wednesday.

Ostensibly, the truckers are against a new rule mandating that, when they re-enter Canada from the United States, they have to be vaccinated. But that’s not really it. The mandate is a moot point: The Americans have a similar requirement, and, anyway, “the vast majority” of Canadian truckers, according to the Canadian Trucking Alliance, are vaccinated. (The CTA represents about 4,500 truckers nationwide.)

So it’s about something else. Or many things: a sense that things will never go back to normal, a sense that they are being ganged up on by the government, the media, Big Tech, Big Pharma.

One thing was indisputable: There was this electricity coursing through the streets, and it felt like it could get out of control. It didn’t help when a handful of protesters sported swastikas and Confederate flags. Or when GoFundMe shut down the convoy’s fundraiser, announcing that donors had two weeks to reclaim their money before it was sent to “established charities” chosen by Freedom Convoy organizers. Or when the cops started arresting locals, including the elderly.

It is hard to capture how thoroughly Trudeau has misjudged the moment. “This pandemic has sucked for all Canadians,” he said Monday. As for the protest? “It has to stop,” declared the prime minister.

If he sauntered down to the mess of rigs on Wellington Street, across from the Parliament building, opposite the mall and the war memorial, if he talked to these people for a few minutes, he would understand: It will not stop.

What’s happening in Canada right now is bigger than the mandates.

Navy Releases Timeline For Mysterious 2019 “UAS Swarm” Involving Warships Off California

An official unredacted presentation shows how an encounter with the swarm went down, as well as an infrared image supposedly showing the vehicles.

In a previous update on our investigation into a series of drone swarm incidents in 2019, The War Zone published an intriguing, but heavily redacted briefing slide. Strangely, before our appeal could be fully processed, we and other FOIA filers received completely unredacted versions of the same slide attached to separate requests. The unredacted version of the slide provides several new details, namely a timeline of interactions between the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke class destroyer USS Paul Hamilton and several objects denoted as “UAS” or unmanned aerial systems. To our knowledge, this is the first publicly available document to use the term “swarm” in relation to the incident.

Additionally, the newly released material includes an infrared image of three of the objects. It is too low in quality to show any identifying features of the objects.

he incidents, which we now know continued on throughout the second half of July, have been the subject of considerable interest since 2020, when documentary filmmaker Dave Beaty first brought them to light.

As for this new timeline, it shows that the incident began around 2:56 AM Zulu Time, also known as Greenwich Mean Time, on July 17th, or 7:56 PM local time July 16th. U.S. Coast Guard data separately indicates that the USS Paul Hamilton stopped broadcasting its location via the Automatic Identification System (AIS) approximately 10 minutes earlier at 7:47 PM local time. U.S. Navy vessels are not required to broadcast via AIS, and sometimes disable their transponder to lower their overall electronic signature in situations of heightened security.

Though deck logs do not indicate why the USS Paul Hamilton disabled its AIS, other ships in similar circumstances that month noted that they disabled AIS transponders specifically due to possible UAS activity. Additionally, logs indicate that the event began just after navigation lights were turned on.

• Now Moderna suspiciously has a brand new experimental mRNA HIV vaccine ready go! How incredibly convenient!

This murderous cycle for profit doesn’t stop until we end it. Our government is not on our side. Short thread of an email from one of the authors, showing how global warming can be created by statistics.

In this paper…we looked at the various "temperature homogenization adjustments" that have been applied to the European temperature records in the widely used "Global Historical Climatology Network" (GHCN) dataset over the last 10 years.

The GHCN dataset is the main data source for thermometer records used by several of the groups calculating "global warming" - including NOAA, NASA Goddard Institute and the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Because these thermometer records typically are several decades to centuries long, they often are contaminated by "non-climatic biases" whenever the weather station undergoes a major change, such as being moved to a new location or a change in the type of instruments used.

In an attempt to try to correct for these non-climatic biases, NOAA, the group in charge of the GHCN dataset had been running a computer program to try and statistically identify "non-climatic jumps" in the records by comparing each station record to -

40 of its nearest neighbours. This process is called "temperature homogenization", and until now, most groups had been assuming the process was working correctly.

However, for this study, we analysed 10 years of different "homogenization adjustments" applied by NOAA -

to more than 800 European temperature records. We found that the adjustments NOAA was applying to each station record changed dramatically every time they re-ran their homogenization computer program! And they have been re-running this program almost every day since 2011.

We found that only 16% of the adjustments NOAA had been applying to the thermometer records were consistent from run to run.

Moreover, by compiling the "station history metadata" associated with each of the stations we analysed from the various national meteorological services and other scientific studies, we were able to compare the adjustments applied by NOAA to the documented station changes -

that were known to have occurred. We found that less than 20% of the adjustments NOAA had been applying corresponded to any event noted by the station observers - such as a change in instrumentation, station move, etc.

The findings of our study suggest that many of the "homogenization adjustments" that have been applied to the main thermometer records used for studying climate change over the last 10 years may have been spurious.

A friend of a former Australian soldier who died wearing an explosive vest has revealed he was allegedly raped during his time in the armed forces.

Clent Wilson, 43, blew himself up on a Melbourne street on January 22 following struggles with mental health and drug addiction after serving in the Australian Army.

Mr Wilson, a father of three, had served in 2nd Cavalry Regiment based at Darwin's Robertson barracks and was known as a 'crazy f**ker' before being dishonourably discharged from the military 20 years ago.

He told a close friend that he had beaten a superior who raped him and was discharged as a result.

The unidentified mate said Mr Wilson told him the story while 'crying in his shed' and believes the alleged sexual assault was a turning point that sent him down a dark path.

In 2009 Mr Wilson separated from his wife and began his struggle with mental illness and drug addiction.
