3 US Warships Dispatched To Haiti As Part Of Campaign Against Drug Traffickers

Three U.S. warships have been sent to Haiti as part of Operation Southern Spear, a military operation in the Caribbean to counter narcotics trafficking.

“At the direction of the Secretary of War [Pete Hegseth], the ships USS Stockdale, USCGC Stone, and USCGC Diligence have arrived in the Bay of Port-au-Prince as part of Operation Southern Spear,” the U.S. Embassy in Haiti posted on X on Feb. 3.

The embassy said the presence of the warships reflects the United States’ “unwavering commitment to Haiti’s security, stability, and brighter future.”

The USS Stockdale is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer based in San Diego, while USCGC Stone and USCGC Diligence are Coast Guard cutters based in North Charleston, South Carolina, and Pensacola, Florida, respectively.

“The U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard reaffirm their partnership and support to ensure a safer and more prosperous Haiti,” the U.S. Embassy posted on X.

Operation Southern Spear is targeting narco-trafficking and has led to strikes on several drug smuggling boats since September 2025. On Jan. 3, Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro was captured and indicted on drug trafficking and other charges.

Another boat strike was carried out on Jan. 23, at an undisclosed location, according to U.S. Southern Command.

Utah voter roll review finds no evidence of noncitizens casting a ballot, Lt. Gov. says

A review of 2.1 million voter registrations turned up few anomalies, but Utah’s House speaker says ID law is needed so citizens trust elections.

Utah’s elections office has not been able to confirm any cases of noncitizens voting in elections as it nears completing a review of voter rolls, while GOP lawmakers move forward with a bill that would require Utahns to provide documentary proof of citizenship to participate in state elections.

After spending months reviewing 2.1 million people on Utah’s voter rolls, thelieutenant governor has not found a single instance of a noncitizen voting in the state and only one instance of an ineligible individual registering to vote.

It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in state and federal elections, and county clerks check Utahns’ driver license or ID number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number to verify citizenship before registering someone to vote. Voters are also required to sign an affidavit certifying they are citizens.

“We have not yet encountered anyone who voted illegally,” Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, who oversees Utah’s elections, said of her office’s review of the state’s voter file.

The review — which has included comparing voter data to state and federal records — is still ongoing. Henderson said there were 486 registered voters whose information on file was either incomplete or inaccurate, which could be due to typos, or a missing driver license or Social Security number.

About a third of the 486 voters registered decades ago, before the state required a driver license or Social Security number to register. All 486 of the flagged individuals have been sent letters asking them to re-register or to provide additional information, and 52 have done so.

“I anticipate that the vast majority of these 486 are in fact citizens and just need to update their information,” Henderson said.

In the worst case, assuming all of those yet-to-be-verified registrations belong to noncitizens, the error rate for the rolls would be 0.02%.

Four additional noncitizens were identified as having registered to vote before the lieutenant governor’s review began, due to a programming error in the state’s system for voters to use when they were getting their driver licenses that allowed people to register without first verifying their citizenship.

The loophole was fixed before the review started and those four were removed from the rolls and have been turned over to the county clerks for further investigation. It is unknown if they voted.

The preliminary findings of the voter roll review comes as a bill from Rep. Cory Maloy, R-Lehi, requiring voters to provide documentary proof of citizenship before being allowed to cast a ballot in state elections advances through the Legislature.

If a Utah driver license or ID verifies citizenship, those numbers can serve as voters’ proof, as well as numbers from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, tribal treaty or tribal enrollment cards. Other documents that would qualify under the bill include birth certificates, a certificate of a degree of “Indian” blood or BIA birth affidavit, a U.S. passport or U.S. naturalization documents.

Utahns would have to provide that proof of citizenship when registering to vote or before voting in this November’s elections. Most Utahns have already provided that documentary proof by including their Utah driver license or ID number in their voter registration.

The requirements would only determine eligibility in elections for state offices, not federal, to comply with federal laws meant to prevent voter suppression. Voters who do not meet documentation specifications would receive a separate ballot listing only federal races.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures,five other states have passed laws requiring documentary proof of citizenship to vote — and some of those laws face ongoing legal challenges.

Utah’s U.S. Sen. Mike Lee has proposed a stricter voter ID bill, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, at the federal level. Henderson announced the audit on Xlast year as Lee’s bill drew public attention.

Henderson said her office started by looking at all 2.1 million individuals in the state’s voter database and comparing them against the driver license database or by comparing the last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number to that on file.

That process validated 99.5% the citizenship of the registered voters.

President Donald Trump told NBC News on Wednesday that he believes his administration could use “a softer touch” in its immigration enforcement operations after federal agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens last month in Minneapolis.

“I learned that maybe we could use a little bit of a softer touch. But you still have to be tough,” Trump said in an Oval Office interview with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Llamas. “We’re dealing with really hard criminals. But look, I’ve called the people. I’ve called the governor. I’ve called the mayor. Spoke to ‘em.Had great conversations with them. And then I see them ranting and raving out there. Literally as though a call wasn’t made.”

Trump has been engaged in a weekslong feud with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, two Democrats who have been highly critical of his immigration crackdown in the city and condemned the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both 37, in separate incidents in January. Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other high-ranking administration officials had been quick to blame the fatal shootings on Good and Pretti, at several points characterizing themwithout evidence as domestic terrorists.

Video footage of the incidents also contradicted some initial claims that administration officials made to suggest the shootings were justified.

Trump’s remarks to NBC News on Wednesday reflect his continued shift in tone as national outrage over the killings takes hold. At a Jan. 20 White House briefing, Trump said that federal agents “make mistakes sometimes.”

Earlier Wednesday, U.S. border czar Tom Homan announced a withdrawalof 700 federal immigration agents from Minnesota. Asked by Llamas if that call had come from Trump, the president affirmed that it had.

“But it didn’t come from me because I just wanted to do it,” Trump added. “We have — we are waiting for them to release prisoners, give us the murderers that they’re holding and all of the bad people, drug dealers, all of the bad people. We allowed in our country, I say, 25 million people with an open-border policy for four years under [President Joe] Biden, and that group, the autopen group, I call them. We allowed to come into our country people the likes of which no country would accept. And we’re getting ‘em out.”

Trump’s claim about 25 million undocumented immigrants, which he has made before, is false. During the Biden administration, 7.4 million undocumented immigrants crossed the border outside of legal checkpoints, according to data from Customs and Border Protection.

Fulton County has filed a motion in federal court to retrieve documents from the 2020 election.

ATLANTA - Fulton County has filed a motion in federal court seeking the return of all documents from the 2020 election that were seized last week from a warehouse near Atlanta by the FBI, officials in the Georgia county said Wednesday.

The motion also asks for the unsealing of a law enforcement agent's sworn statement that was presented to the judge who signed off on the search warrant, according to the county chairman, Robb Pitts. The county is not releasing the motion because the case is under seal, he said.

The Jan. 28 search at Fulton County’s main election facility in Union City sought records related to the 2020 election.

President Donald Trump and his allies have fixated on the heavily Democratic county, the state's most populous, since the Republican narrowly lost the election in Georgia to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020. Trump has long insisted without evidence that widespread voter fraud in the county cost him victory in the state.

Pitts defended the county's election practices and said the county has conducted 17 elections since 2020 without any issues.

“The president himself and his allies, they refuse to accept the fact that they lost," Pitts said."And even if he had won Georgia, he would still have lost the presidency.”

Pitts cited comments by Trump earlier this week on a podcast where he called for Republicans to “take over” and “nationalize” elections.

“This case is not only about Fulton County. This is about elections across Georgia and across the nation," he said.

A warrant cover sheet provided to the county includes a list of items that the agents were seeking related to the 2020 general election: all ballots, tabulator tapes from the scanners that tally the votes, electronic ballot images created when the ballots were counted and then recounted, and all voter rolls.

The new Republican-led committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol has handed T-Mobile a subpoenafor records relating to Brian Cole, who was charged with placing pipe bombs outside the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters the day before the riot.

In a Feb. 4 letter to T-Mobile, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), the chair of the Jan. 6 select subcommittee, blasted the FBI’s conduct under its former director, Christopher Wray, which failed to find evidence to bring charges for years. Wray was nominated and subsequently pushed out by President Donald Trump.

The Justice Department filed charges against Cole, a 30-year-old Virginia man, in December. He appears to have used T-Mobile’s services, Loudermilk noted.

“The documents and information in T-Mobile’s possession are necessary to advance our oversight and inform potential legislative reforms,” he wrote. “In light of the Wray FBI’s failures in this investigation, it is crucial that Congress consider legislative reforms to prevent the same failures from happening in the future.”

“For example,” Loudermilk continued, “Congress may consider legislation requiring a more thorough evaluation of a suspect’s cell phone usage and may also consider legislation to improve the FBI’s investigative protocol relating to discoveries of improvised explosive devices.”

A spokesperson with T-Mobile did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

JEFFREY Epstein may have had multiple secret children, including one with a teenage girl who claims she felt like a “human incubator”.

Bombshell files related to the paedophile financier include several references to Epstein being a dad – with one teen claiming her baby was ripped away from her just minutes after birth.

Sarah Ferguson also appeared to congratulate Epstein on the birth of a “baby boy” in one chain of emails from 2011.

But in a separate diary entry from an unnamed source, one Epstein victim claims to have delivered a baby girl in 2002 at the age of just 16 or 17.

The document includes a copy of a pregnancy scan showing 20 weeks’ gestation.

The female claims her child was taken away from her just 10 minutes after giving birth, the documents suggest.

She also alleged Epstein’s former accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell oversaw the ordeal.

The victim writes: “She was born, I heard her cries!

“I saw this tiny head and body in between the doctor’s hands. Ghislaine said she was beautiful. Where is she?”

The entry continues: “I do not want to be tied to Jeffrey for the rest of my life!

“playing the piano well is not a good reason to think someone has good genes or should have a baby! I am too young and he is too old!”

She adds: “The piano and music comments are made to convince me this is right and will create perfect offspring he [Epstein] calls them ‘superior gene pool?’

“Why me?? My eye color, my eye color? I miss the person I was before I was made into what feels like a human incubator.”

The entry was shared by the female’s lawyers before prosecutors started investigating Epstein and Maxwell.

The victim filed a lawsuit under the pseudonym Jane Doe in 2023 against Epstein associate Leon Black, former executive of Apollo Global Management.

In the claim she alleges Black raped her at Epstein’s home and that the assault caused her to bleed.

Black has denied the allegations and the case is ongoing.

It is unclear what happened to the newborn if the claims are true.

A separate file from Friday’s batch of evidence contains a video in which a DNA paternity test can be seen on a table.

Additionally, a 2011 email sent by Sarah, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s former wife, shows the ex-Duchess of York congratulating Epstein on the birth of a child.

She adds: “Even though you never kept in touch, I still am here with love, friendship and congratualtions [sic] on your baby boy. Sarah xx.”

A follow-up message sent to Epstein eight minutes later reads: “You have disappeared.

“I did not even know you were having a baby. It was sooooo crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew.”

It is believed that Andrew suggested to Sarah that she should message Epstein to congratulate him on the supposed birth.

In other emails sent from Epstein’s private account,there was a suggestion Epstein and Maxwell discussed a shared fertility procedure, Bloomberg reported last year.

In an email to the late sex offender in 2007, Maxwell said: “Your cup + instructions are in the oval room …

“The sample has to be dropped off at 10 + you HAVE to fill out the forms — I would have filled them for you but I was not sure what you wanted to put on them.

“Let me know if you need/want me to do anything.”

Epstein also reportedly told scientists he had a secret scheme to seed the human race with his DNA by impregnating women at his New Mexico ranch, according to the New York Times in 2019.

It has never been confirmed in public that Epstein had any children.

He did not mention any of his alleged offspring in his will.

It comes after the Department of Justice released millions of documents related to Epstein on Friday.

Peter Mandelson, who was named several times in the files, branded Jeffrey Epstein a “master manipulator” as the disgraced Labour grandee faced calls for a police probe.

The shamed lord could be prosecuted as the newly-released documents appear to show him passing sensitive government information to the paedo financier.

He said the release of historic emails and documents linking him to the late sex offender plunged him into a “life-changing crisis”.

The Time article also revealed McReynolds played asignificant role in shaping Georgia’s election process:

“McReynolds helped advise Georgia on which vendors to use and on the importance of steps such as having enough drop boxes to handle the increase in absentee ballots. “She uniquely is aware of the pitfalls that can occur when this isn’t rolled out properly,” says Georgia’s Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs, who described McReynolds as “a strong resource to me personally” this election cycle.

In a separate report sent to the Board of Commissioners in DeKalb County, Georgia, in May 2020,McReynolds called for “purchas[ing] and install[ing] a modern, updated security system with badge access, control logs, and remotely accessed cameras” and “adding cameras to all work areas that can be accessed by appropriate management staff.”

Time magazine also reported that she maintained regular correspondence with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’ during the 2020 election. The state of Georgia adopted several of Vote at Home’s recommendations, including “a new online portal for voters to request absentee ballots, expanded absentee ballot drop boxes, ballot tracking so that voters can follow their ballot’s progress and, crucially, a rule change that allowed county election workers to begin processing absentee ballots 15 days before Election Day.”

McReynolds also urged California to implement similar measures. California Secretary of State Alex Padilla praised McReynolds and her colleagues, saying that “their expertise will be invaluable as we work together to meet this moment and keep elections running smoothly during this challenging time.”

McReynolds was evenfeaturedin a separate Time magazine article, “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election,” controversially known for outlining the collective organizing among Democrats and left wing activists to tip the scale on the 2020 election.

“McReynolds’ two-year-old organization became a clearinghouse for a nation struggling to adapt. The institute gave secretaries of state from both parties technical advice on everything from which vendors to use to how to locate drop boxes,” explained the article, which attributes much of the guidance on vote-by-mail policies to McReynolds.

Vote At Home (!?)

McReynolds was also the chief executive officer of both the National Vote At Home Institute and the National Vote At Home Coalition. The National Vote at Home Institute is a nonprofit whose “long-range vision is a nationwide Universal Vote at Home election system in which all active registered voters are automatically delivered their mailed-out ballot.”

McReynolds previously served as the Director of Elections for Denver, Colorado where she helped write legislation that created same-day election registration and a statewide vote-by-mail system. She’s also served on the board of RepresentWomen, a left-leaning organization that advocates for increased female representation in elected office.

While they claim that vote-by-mail policies are non-partisan, Vote at Home is a partner of a number of progressive and left-of-center organizations, including Democracy Fund, Common Cause, Nonprofit VOTE, and Rock the Vote.

The group is alsofunded by liberal eBay billionaire Pierre Omidyar‘s Democracy Fund Voice.

The congressional record

On August 4, 2020, she submitted written testimony to Congress stating explicitly that “Voting by mail is…secure.” In that testimony, she urged states to expand “voting at home options” and encouraged changes to laws and administrative rules to make mail voting easier to implement.

Her own words

McReynolds has been even more direct when speaking publicly.

In a May 2020 interview with The Postal Record, she stated that she helped “design and architect the legislation” enacted in 2013 that expanded vote-by-mail.

That statement is important. It establishes that her involvement with mail voting did not begin during the pandemic. She was involved in shaping the legal framework years earlier.

She wasn’t reacting to a crisis. She was building a system.

Then came the appointment

Months later, Biden appointed McReynolds to the USPS Board of Governors.

The result: a figure celebrated by the press for expanding mail-in voting, who testified to Congress in support of it, and who says she helped write vote-by-mail legislation,was placed inside the governing body that controls the federal mail system.

Why this still matters

Mail-in voting was sold as a temporary emergency measure. Instead, it became permanent. Locked in through legislation, defended before Congress, and reinforced through federal appointments.

McReynolds’ seat on the Postal Board is part of that permanence.
