@devorydarkins

This interview is truly remarkable. If you don’t remember who Miles Taylor is, let me remind you.

Miles Taylor was the chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security during President Trump’s first administration. He wrote an anonymous Op-Ed for the NYT in 2018 detailing how he was leading a quiet subversion campaign, actively working against the commander in chief. He came out publicly in 2020, revealing his identity. In April of this year, President Trump revoked his security clearance and ordered the DOJ to investigate him for leaking classified information, among other things.

He has now filed a formal request to the Inspectors General to investigate how Donald Trump is “using the presidency to punish dissent.”

Trump views Zelensky as ‘bad guy’ – NYT

The US president believes that the Ukrainian leader “is edging the world to the precipice of nuclear war,” the report says

US President Donald Trump is frustrated with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, seeing him as a “bad guy” who is pushing the world closer to nuclear conflict, the New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

Unnamed Trump advisers told the NYT that the president is “exasperated” with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky, but “reserves special animosity” for the Ukrainian leader, who he has publicly criticized on several occasions.

AlthoughTrump has said it is “understandable”that Ukraine wants to keep fighting, his stance toward Zelensky is notably harsher than toward Putin, the report says. The US president reportedly tends to be more deferential to his Russian counterpart, and previously believed that their “very, very good relationship” would help end the conflict. Because of this, he has thus far refrained from imposing new sanctions on Moscow. (Putin is a World Leader, Zelensky is a fake president of a shithole country, plus there’s much more history with Russia as an ally.)

On Wednesday, the two leaders held a 75-minute phone conversation in which Trump said they discussed Ukraine’s recent attack on Russian airbases that reportedly host strategic aircraft. “President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields,” Trump said.

The Kremlin confirmed the conversation. Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said Putin informed Trump of Ukraine’s efforts to derail peace talks between Moscow and Kiev, including “terrorist” attacks on civilian targets. Ushakov was apparently referring to incidents of railroad sabotage in the regions of Bryansk and Kursk in which seven people died and more than 100 were injured.

Following the call,Zelenskyposted a statement on Telegram, saying:“If the world reacts weakly to Putin’s threats, then he perceives this as the world’s readiness to turn a blind eye to his actions… If the strong do not stop Putin, it means that they share responsibility with him.”(Fuck Off Zelensky, you are a coward. Be careful Z, be very careful!)

Trump previously engaged in a public spat with Zelensky when the two met at the White House in late February. At the time, the US president accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War III,” and of being “disrespectful” and ungrateful for American support.

The Times is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here. [Update: Our answers to some of those questions are published here.]

President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.

It’s not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trump’s leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.

[The author of this Op-Ed will publish a book in November 2019 titled “A Warning.”]

The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

I would know. I am one of them.

Ukrainian general reassigned days after stepping down

Mikhail Drapaty’s abrupt return reveals increasing infighting among military leaders, reports have claimed

Ukrainian General Mikhail Drapaty has been assigned to a top military post just days after submitting his resignation as the head of Ukraine’s Land Forces. The move comes amid reports of increased infighting among senior Ukrainian military officials.

Kiev’s forces have experienced setbacks on the battlefield since late 2023, following an attempted counteroffensive that failed to breach Russian defenses. Reports of mounting frustration and internal tensions have circulated as battlefield momentum has shifted in Russia’s favor.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky announced on Tuesday that Drapaty – who had resigned afteraccepting responsibility for fatal Russian strikes on military training sites– will now lead aspecialized command established in 2020 to help align Ukraine’s armed forces with NATO operational methods. The position is currently tasked with overseeing frontline operations against Russia.

In his new role, Drapaty will “focus solely on combat issues,” while a separate appointee will manage troop training, Zelensky said. The move is part of a broader reshuffle within Ukraine’s military leadership.

Announcing his resignation,Drapaty had criticized the Ukrainian military’s failure to learn from past mistakes or to hold senior officers accountable. He condemned what he described as a culture of mutual self-protection within senior ranks, calling it “poison for the army” and sayingUkraine “cannot win” without reforms to its armed forces. Drapaty reiterated his call for changes in a statement confirming his reassignment.

Critics blame entrenched interests in the Ukrainian military for pervasive corruption, disregard for soldiers’ lives, tendency to cover up battlefield problems from superiors up the command chain, and impunity for wrongdoing.

Several media outlets have interpreted Drapaty’s remarks as a veiled critique of General Aleksandr Syrsky, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief. Commentary on the Strana.ua website has suggested that Zelensky’s leadership shake-up may have been designed to balance influence between Syrsky’s supporters and dissenting voices within the military.

Zelensky dismissed Syrsky’s predecessor, General Valery Zaluzhny, in early 2024 after Zaluzhny publicly questioned Kiev’s strategic outlook. He argued that the conflict with Russia had reached a stalemate, contradicting public assurances from civilian leaders. Zaluzhny was sacked from the military and appointed ambassador to the UK.

The Ukrainian military has since undergone multiple reshuffles of leadership, as the situation on the frontline increasingly turned in Russia’s favor. Drapaty was given command of the Land Forces in November 2024.

(The U.S. Military never air their dirty laundry like this, Ukraine is a mess.)

A Statement

Why I’m no longer “Anonymous”

More than two years ago, I published an anonymous opinion piece in The New York Times about Donald Trump’s perilous presidency, while I was serving under him. He responded with a short but telling tweet:“TREASON?”

Trump sees personal criticism as subversive.

I take a different view. As Theodore Roosevelt wrote, “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or anyone else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about anyone else.”

We do not owe the President our silence. We owe him and the American people the truth.

Make no mistake: I am a Republican, and I wanted this President to succeed. That’s why I came into the Administration with John Kelly, and it’s why I stayed on as Chief of Staff at the Department of Homeland Security. But too often in times of crisis, I saw Donald Trump prove he is a man without character, and his personal defects have resulted in leadership failures so significant that they can be measured in lost American lives. I witnessed Trump’s inability to do his job over the course of two-and-a-half years. Everyone saw it, though most were hesitant to speak up for fear of reprisals.

So when I left the Administration I wrote A Warning, a character study of the current Commander in Chief and a caution to voters that it wasn’t as bad as it looked inside the Trump Administration — it was worse. While I claim sole authorship of the work, the sentiments expressed within it were widely held among officials at the highest levels of the federal government. In other words, Trump’s own lieutenants were alarmed by his instability.

Much has been made of the fact that these writings were published anonymously. The decision wasn’t easy, I wrestled with it, and I understand why some people consider it questionable to levy such serious charges against a sitting President under the cover of anonymity. But my reasoning was straightforward, and I stand by it. Issuing my critiques without attribution forced the President to answer them directly on their merits or not at all, rather than creating distractions through petty insults and name-calling. I wanted the attention to be on the arguments themselves. At the time I asked, “What will he do when there is no person to attack, only an idea?” We got the answer. He became unhinged. And the ideas stood on their own two feet.

To be clear, writing those works was not about eminence (they were published without attribution), not about money (I declined a hefty monetary advance and pledged to donate the bulk of the proceeds), and not about crafting a score-settling “tell all” (my focus was on the President himself and his character, not denigrating former colleagues).

Nevertheless, I made clear I wasn’t afraid to criticize the President under my name. In fact, I pledged to do so. That is why I’ve already been vocal throughout the general election. I’ve tried to convey as best I can — based on my own experience — how Donald Trump has made America less safe, less certain of its identity and destiny, and less united. He has responded predictably, with personal attacks meant to obscure the underlying message that he is unfit for the office he holds.

Yet Trump has failed to bury the truth.

Why? Becausesince the op-ed was published, I’ve been joined by an unprecedented number of former colleagues who’ve chosen to speak out against the man they once served. Donald Trump’s character and record have now been challenged in myriad waysby his own former Chief of Staff, National Security Advisor, Communications Director, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and others he personally appointed.

History will also record the names of those souls who had everything to lose but stood up anyway, including Trump officials Fiona Hill, Michael McKinley, John Mitnick, Elizabeth Neumann, Bob Shanks, Olivia Troye, Josh Venable, Alexander Vindman, and many more. I applaud their courage. These are not “Deep Staters” who conspired to thwart their boss. Many of them were Trump supporters, and all of them are patriots who accepted great personal risks to speak candidly about a man they’ve seen retaliate and even incite violence against his opponents. (I’ve likewise experienced the cost of condemning the President, as doing so has taken a considerable toll on my job, daily life, marriage, finances, and personal safety.)

>short but telling tweet:“TREASON?”

These public servants were not intimidated. And you shouldn’t be either. As descendants of revolutionaries, honest dissent is part of our American character, and we must reject the culture of political intimidation that’s been cultivated by this President. That’s why I’m writing this note — to urge you to speak out if you haven’t. While I hope a few more Trump officials will quickly find their consciences, your words are now more important than theirs. It’s time to come forward and shine a light on the discord that’s infected our public discourse. You can speak loudest with your vote and persuade others with your voice. Don’t be afraid of open debate. As I’ve said before, there is no better screen test for truth than to see it audition next to delusion.

This election is a two-part referendum: first, on the character of a man, and second, on the character of our nation. That’s why I’m also urging fellow Republicans to put country over party, even if that means supporting Trump’s Democratic opponent. Although former Vice President Joe Biden is likely to pursue progressive reforms that conservatives oppose (and rest assured, we will challenge them in the loyal opposition), his policy agenda cannot equal the damage done by the current President to the fabric of our Republic. I believe Joe Biden’s decency will bring us back together where Donald Trump’s dishonesty has torn us apart.

Trump has been exactly what we conservatives always said government should NOT be: expansive, wasteful, arbitrary, unpredictable, and prone to abuses of power. Worse still, as I’ve noted previously, he’s waged an all-out assault on reason, preferring to enthrone emotion and impulse in the seat of government. The consequences have been calamitous, and if given four more years, he will push the limits of his power further than the “high crimes and misdemeanors” for which he was already impeached.

Trust me. We spent years trying to ameliorate Trump’s poor decisions (often unsuccessfully), many of which will be back with a vengeance in a second term. Recall, this is the man who told us, “When somebody’s president of the United States, the authority is total.” I believe more than ever that Trump unbound will mean a nation undone — a continued downward slide into social acrimony, with the United States fading into the background of a world stage it once commanded, to say nothing of the damage to our democratic institutions.

I was wrong, however, about one major assertion in my original op-ed. The country cannot rely on well-intentioned, unelected bureaucrats around the President to steer him toward what’s right. He has purged most of them anyway. Nor can they rely on Congress to deliver us from Trump’s wayward whims. The people themselves are the ultimate check on the nation’s chief executive. We alone must determine whether his behavior warrants continuance in office, and we face a momentous decision, as our choice about Trump’s future will affect our future for years to come. With that in mind, he doesn’t deserve a second term in office, and we don’t deserve to live through it.

Removing Trump will not be the end of our woes, unfortunately. While on the road visiting swing states for the past month, it’s become clear to me how far apart Americans have grown from one another. We’ve perpetuated the seemingly endless hostility stoked by this divisive President, so if we really want to restore vibrance to our civic life, the change must begin with each of us, not just with the occupant of the Oval Office. Fortunately, past generations have lit the way toward national reconciliation in even harder times.

On the brink of a civil war that literally split our nation in two, Abraham Lincoln called on the people not to lose sight of one other. He said in his Inaugural Address:

We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

Heed Lincoln’s words. We must return to our founding principles. We must rediscover our better angels. And we must reconcile with each other, repairing the bonds of affection that make us fellow Americans.

Russia bans British Council

The prosecutor general has designated the organization as “undesirable” for promoting the UK’s interests under the guise of teaching English

The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has banned the British Council from operating in the country, accusing it of spreading LGBTQ propaganda and undermining Russia’s domestic and foreign policy.

An official statement on Thursday accused thecouncil of portraying itself as an independent organization while aligning its activities with UK government priorities, reporting to the British Parliament, and receiving funding from the UK Foreign Office.

“Under the guise of educational and cultural work, including various outreach events and English language teaching, the Council in fact promotes long-term British interests and values in the fields of education, culture, and youth policy,” the Prosecutor General’s Office stated.

Russian prosecutors also accused the British Council of being involved in promoting and supporting the LGBTQ movement, which is banned in Russia, and implementing projects aimed at “systematically discrediting Russia’s domestic and foreign policy.”

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, one of thecouncil’s objectives is to “eradicate Russian identity among the populations of former Soviet republics,” including as part of a consortium with other organizations designated as undesirable. In particular, the British Council is implementing a program of so-called “cultural engagement” designed to unite the Baltic community around an anti-Russian agenda, officials claimed.

Prosecutors were referring to the former Soviet republics of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, which have taken a hardline anti-Russian stance since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, showing particular hostility toward the significant Russian minorities living in these countries.

The British Council, established in 1934 and registered as a charity in the UK, once operated more than a dozen offices across Russia. In 2007, the Russian Foreign Ministry ordered the council to shut down its offices outside Moscow, accusing it of violating tax regulations. In March 2018, the council was told to cease operations in Russia, citing unresolved issues over its legal status.

Last month, Moscow banned the London-based NGO Amnesty International for allegedly preparing global Russophobic projects and supporting the Ukrainian military.

In April, Russia alsooutlawed the US-based NGO Hope Harbor Society, designating it as “undesirable” over allegations of funding the Ukrainian militaryand coordinating anti-Russian protests in the US and abroad. The Elton John AIDS Foundation received the same designation, with authorities accusing it of promoting a pro-LGBTQ agenda in Russia.

Organizations given the “undesirable”designation are prohibited from operating in Russia, while individuals or entities found providing financial or other forms of support to them may face legal consequences.

US Congress had hearings yesterday on NGOs leading to the conclusion they make no money, they take money to undermine America! Cut them all loose. They are deadly to countries, families and children.

4,700-Year-Old Seal Impressions Found in Greece May Rewrite History of Writing

ByDimitrios Aristopoulos June 4, 20251/2

PICTURE 1

Two seal impressions found on a large storage vessel, dated to the Early Bronze Age (2700–2300 BC),raise compelling questions about the role of Greece’s Cyclades islands in the emergence of script—potentially rewriting the more commonly accepted narrative that places the birth of writing on Minoan Crete at around 2000 BC. This new archaeological discovery on the island of Therasia, near Santorini, Greece, may prompt a rethinking of the origins of writing in the Aegean world.

The discovery and seal context

The find took place at the site known as “Koimisi” on Therasia, a volcanic island belonging to the Santorini archipelago. Archaeologists Dr. Konstantinos Sbonias, Dr. Vassiliki Papazikou, and Dr. Iris Tzachili uncovered a handle from a large pithos (storage jar) within a Bronze Age settlement room. Remarkably, the handle bore two distinct seal impressions that had been stamped into the clay before the vessel was fired, preserving them permanently.

The seals—labeled THS.1 and THS.2 by the research team—are thought to represent a highly unusual and early form of symbolic expression. Scientific analysis has dated them to between 2700 and 2300 BC. This period is significantly earlier than the known Aegean writing systems, such as Cretan Hieroglyphic or Linear A. The later emerged around 2000 BC.

Seal THS.1 is the most compelling of the two. It consists of a sequence of abstract symbols aligned in three horizontal rows, resembling a structured inscription. The symbols include leaf-like shapes, spirals, and geometric motifs whose precise meaning remains unknown.

As a result of this organized arrangement, scholars have theorized that the seal may represent a rudimentary communication system. It was possibly used to convey ownership, content identification, or even personal names. The symbols do not constitute writing in the formal sense. However, their alignment and repetition imply a conceptual leap toward structured symbolic thought. This is a key step in the development of true writing.

The second seal, THS.2, appears to be of a more decorative character, bearing geometric motifs such as triangles and meanders. These are hallmarks of Cycladic art of the Early Bronze Age. Its aesthetic design implies it may have served recognitional or status-signaling functions rather than conveying linguistic information.

Trade, symbolism, and early communication systems

The stylistic similarity of the second seal to other Cycladic seals discovered across the Aegean also hints at an interconnected maritime culture. In this, visual symbols functioned as both artistic and semiotic tools.

Scientific analysis of the ceramic material revealed that the clay used to make the pithos did not originate on Therasia. Instead, it came from Naxos, a larger Cycladic island. This suggests active inter-island trade during the Early Bronze Age. It also raises the possibility that the seals may have conveyed information related to origin, ownership, or quality. It is perhaps akin to a prehistoric branding system.

Moreover, the presence of two distinct seals—one textual, the other decorative—on a single object implies a more sophisticated symbolic framework than previously assumed for this era.It is suggestive of the emergence of dual-purpose labeling systems, wherein function and status coexisted.

While the researchers stop short of declaring the THS.1 seal an incidence of writing, they do highlight its potential role in the evolution of Aegean literacy. The careful layout, repeated forms, and prominent placement of the THS.1 impression mark the vessel deliberately. All this suggests intentional design meant to be visible and legible. This is a precursor behavior to what would later become formalized writing.

In fact, the use of multi-faceted seals (with more than a single engraved face) was unusual at the time. This further indicates that the person who applied THS.1 aimed to communicate something more nuanced than a mere ownership mark.

PICTURE 2

Challenging the Crete-centric origin of Aegean writing

The dominant narrative in Aegean archaeology has long held that writing first emerged on Crete around 2000 BC and that the Cyclades had no script. This gave rise to the complex palace-based bureaucracies of the Minoans and Mycenaeans. However, if seal THS.1 indeed encodes structured, communicative content—albeit in a primitive form—then the intellectual seeds of writing may have been sown in the Cyclades centuries earlier.

In light of this, the Cycladic islands would no longer be seen as peripheral to the emergence of literacy in the Aegean. Instead we would view them as a primary innovator. This would align with other archaeological markersindicating that the Cyclades were a dynamic and interconnected maritime culture. It was a culture capable of innovation and influence across the region.

The research team behind the Therasia find is, however, cautious in their conclusions. They stop short of labeling the seals as a script. Yet they argue that these impressions represent a key developmental stage. “They form part of the cognitive and practical processes that led to the invention of writing,” it was stated. If future excavations yield additional samples of similar seal use across Cycladic sites, this theory could solidify into a new paradigm and reposition the cradle of Aegean writing from Crete to the Cyclades.

PICTURE 3

The potential legacy of the Therasia seals in Aegean writing development

The Therasia seals may not represent a full writing system. However, they do provide us with valuable insight into the symbolic experimentation occurring in the Aegean over four millennia ago. As explained by the researchers, “Although the evidence from Koimisi does not support the existence of a formal script, it highlights the processes that led to the emergence of writing—particularly the use of seals as one of the earliest media for encoded symbolic transmission in the Aegean.”

Future discoveries could further clarify whether these impressions represent localized symbolic practices or are part of a broader trajectory. If archaeologists unearth additional seals such as these, they could directly link them to the development of writing systems like Linear A and Linear B.

The seals of Therasia may turn out to be a vital missing link in the story of how humans in the Aegean first began recording meaning, asserting identity, and sharing information through organized symbols. As research continues, this small volcanic island could become a key reference point and rewrite the history of writing itself in the ancient world.

Mass graves discovered in Libya

5 Jun, 2025 09:27

Dozens of bodies have been discovered in detention centers in Libya, the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) reported on Wednesday, calling for an independent investigation into the “grim findings” and abuses at the facilities.

Violence, political disorder and lawlessness has blighted the North African country since a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi more than a decade ago.

The graves were found in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, according to the OHCHR, at “official and unofficial” sites operated by the Stabilization Support Apparatus (SSA), an armed group mandated to bolster government security.

“Our worst held fears are being confirmed: dozens of bodies have been discovered at these sites, along with the discovery of suspected instruments of torture and abuse, and potential evidence of extrajudicial killings,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said.

The SSA, a powerful militia formally aligned to Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU), has long faced allegations of “torture and enforced disappearances.”

The findings followed deadly clashes in Tripoli triggered by the assassination of SSA leader Abdelghani al-Kikli – known locally as Ghaniwa – on May 12.

He was reportedly shot dead in southern Tripoli, sparking violent confrontations between rival armed factions that left several civilians dead and damaged critical infrastructure, including hospitals.

At least 77 bodies were discovered in Tripoli between May 18 and 21, including ten charred corpses found at the SSA headquarters in Abu Salim and 67 others stored in hospital refrigerators, the UN agency said in a press release. Another burial site was reportedly discovered at the SSA-run Tripoli Zoo.

“These sites must be sealed and all potential evidence preserved in support of immediate accountability efforts. Those responsible for these atrocious acts must be brought to justice without delay,” Turk stated.

Libya remains deeply fractured, divided between the UN-recognized GNU based in Tripoli and the rival Government of National Stability in the eastern city of Benghazi. Sporadic violence, militia infighting, and stalled political processes have left the country in a prolonged state of instability.

The discovery of mass graves in Libya is not uncommon.

In February, the authorities reported recovering the bodies of at least 28 people – believed to be migrants – from a mass grave in Kufra, a city around 1,712 kilometers (1,064 miles) southeast of Tripoli.

On Wednesday, the UN said two graves were uncovered that month in Jakharrah and Kufra, containing 10 and 93 bodies, respectively.

The oil-rich country, a destination for migrants from neighboring African nations, has become a major transit hub for human trafficking and migration to Europe via the Mediterranean since the overthrow and assassination of Gaddafi in 2011.

Supreme Court rejects Mexico’s lawsuit against U.S. gun makers

The Mexican government had filed a lawsuit against gun companies seeking accountability for violence epidemic.

Supreme Court rules against Mexico in lawsuit against U.S. gun makers

June 5, 2025, 10:35 AM EDT By Lawrence Hurley

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday threw out the Mexican government's lawsuit against U.S. firearms manufacturers accusing them of aiding and abetting gun violence.

The court ruled unanimously that the lawsuit is barred by a 2005 federal law that shields gun companies from legal liability.(Doesn’t that make you wonder why the freakin radical lower courts, couldn’t throw it out?)

Liberal Justice Elena Kagan, who wrote the opinion, acknowledged the gun violence problem, but said Mexico had failed to make allegations that would surmount those liability protections in claiming the companies aided and abetted the unlawful sale of guns.

"The question presented is whether Mexico's complaint plausibly pleads that conduct. We conclude it does not," she wrote.

The 2021 lawsuit accused Smith & Wesson, Colt and other companies of deliberately selling guns to dealers who sell products that are frequently recovered at Mexican crime scenes.

The Mexican government said the aiding and abetting allegations meant that the companies were not protected by the federal immunity shield, called the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.Mexico was seeking up to $10 billion in damages.(Pretty outrageous, why the US should sue Mexico for the Cartels deaths in America.)

The case at the Supreme Court involved two companies — Smith & Wesson and Interstate Arms. Other manufacturers, including Glock and Colt, successfully had claims against them tossed out.

A federal judge initially ruled for the manufacturers, but the Boston-based 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals revived the case last year, saying the liability shield did not extend to Mexico’s specific claims.

The case reached the Supreme Court following increased tensions between American and Mexican leaders after the election of President Donald Trump, who has cited drug trafficking and gang violence in Mexico amid his crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

Democrats in Congress have introduced legislation intended to reduce the flow of guns across the border, which they estimate to total at least 200,000 a year.

(It's pretty outrageous that Mexico send drugs to America that kills a lot of Americans should we should sue them and make them responsible financially for all the deaths. Plus Mexico has guns from all over the world there, they are everywhere.)

Kremlin confirms Putin warning after Ukrainian drone strikes

5 Jun, 2025 13:01

Russian President Vladimir Putin told his US counterpart, Donald Trump, that Moscow will respond to Ukraine’s recent attacks on Russian airbases, the Kremlin has confirmed.

Following a phone call with Putin on Wednesday, Trump announced on his Truth Social account that the two leaders had discussed Ukraine’s recent drone strikes on docked Russian airplanes and “various other attacks.”

According to Trump, Putin had told him “very strongly that he will have to respond” to the attacks.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin had told Trump about an upcoming response.

However, Peskov did not disclose any details about what the retaliation would entail, stating only that it would be carried out “when and how our military deems appropriate.”

Ukrainian drones hit multiple Russian airbases on Sunday in a coordinated assault. Targets ranged from Murmansk in the Arctic to Irkutsk in Siberia.

Kiev claims the strikes damaged or destroyed approximately 40 Russian military aircraft, including Tu-95 and Tu-22 long-range bombers. Moscow, however, has stated that the aircraft were only damaged and would undergo repairs.

Kiev also committed railway sabotage over the weekend, killing at least seven people and injuring over 110 in Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) also reported on Thursday that an explosive device had damaged a railway track in Voronezh Region, and that the blast had occurred “directly in front of an approaching train.”

Severe consequences were only prevented by “the professional actions of the train driver and crew, who noticed the track damage and carried out emergency braking,” the agency added.

Putin has described the railway sabotage incidents as “undoubtedly a terrorist act” committed by the “illegitimate regime in Kiev,” claiming that it was “gradually turning into a terrorist organization.”

Shortly after Trump and Putin’s phone call on Wednesday, the US Embassy in Kiev issued a security alert, warning of a “continued risk of significant air attacks.”

The US State Department has advised Americans currently in Ukraine to identify shelter locations in advance and keep reserves of water, food, and medication.

"Such Ingratitude": Musk Rages After Trump Comments, Says 'Without Me, He Would Have Lost The Election'

Update (1255ET): Well that escalated quickly...

Elon Musk is now raging on X against President Trump, after Trump talked greasy to the press over Musk's opposition to the "Big Beautiful Bill" over the past several days.

"Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate," Musk wrote, adding "Such ingratitude."

President Trump has weighed in after Elon Musk began publicly bashing the GOP's 'Big Beautiful Bill,' telling reporters on Thursday that he's 'very disappointed in Elon,' and that Musk only opposes the bill because they eliminated electric vehicle tax credits from it.

"Elon is upset because we took the EV mandate which was a lot of money for electric vehicles. They're having a hard time the electric vehicles, and they want us to pay billions of dollars in subsidy. Elon knew this from the beginning," said Trump.

Musk, meanwhile responded with "Whatever" to Trump...

"Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, even though no oil & gas subsidies are touched (very unfair!!), but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK in the bill," Musk wrote. "In the entire history of civilization, there has never been legislation that both big and beautiful. Everyone knows this!"

"Either you get a big and ugly bill or a slim and beautiful bill. Slim and beautiful is the way."

Silver jumps to highest level in 13 years, following gold’s 2025 rally

Published Thu, Jun 5 20259:26 AM EDT Updated 37 Min Ago

The price of silver moved sharply higher on Thursday morning and hit its highest level in more than a decade.

Silver futures rose as high as $36.27 per troy ounce on Thursday, notching the highest price for the metal since early 2012.Silver futures were last up more than 3% on the day $35.82 per troy ounce.

Silver futures were trading at their highest level since 2012 on Thursday.

Silver has been a high performing asset in 2025 and is now up more than 20% year to date. That is still lagging the move in gold, however, which has jumped about 28%. The price of gold was down slightly on Thursday, meaning silver’s rally closed some of the gap between the two.

Silver has industrial uses, including in solar panels, and is also seen by some investors as a defensive precious metal, like gold. A recent survey from the Silver Institute estimated that the supply of silver was about 15% lower than demand in 2024 and projected another deficit in 2025.

Revelation Of Epstein Investment Tied To Peter Thiel Adds To Growing Concerns About Palantir

Following a scathing report from The New York Times implicating Palantir Technologies at the core of an expanding US surveillance stated enhanced with the power of Artificial Intelligence powered by the company, the PR nightmare for co-founder Peter Thiel continues. The NYT continued its offensive against him by publishing another exposé revealing previously unknown ties between Thiel and "diseased" serial sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. According to the NYT report, Epstein funneled $40 million into another firm founded by Thiel named after The Lord of the Rings lore: Valar Ventures.

According to the report, Epstein made the $40 million contribution to 2 separate funds managed by Valar Ventures between 2015-2016. Since making the contribution, the return on that investment has seen it grow to nearly $170 million. That $170 holding now stands as the single largest asset of the over $200 million still belonging to the Epstein estate almost 6 years following his supposed demise.

Epstein's previously unknown investment managed by the venture capital firm is far from the first instance of his ties to Thiel. According to The Wall Street Journal, Epstein scheduled multiple meetings with Thiel in the run-up to the 2016 Presidential Election. The WSJ report went on to reveal that Epstein attempted to arrange meetings between Thiel and real-estate mogul Thomas Barrack with former Russian United Nations Ambassador Vitaly Churkin. Thiel also scheduled several meetings with Epstein at his New York home around that time.

The meetings arranged for Thiel by Epstein coincide with the Palantir co-founder's most visible entry into the American political discourse when he made his support for then Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump known. Since 2016, Thiel has remained one of President Trump's most influential supporters. That support has led to the expansion of Palantir within the Trump administration, as conveyed by the growing list of federal contracts the technology firm has been awarded since the President's return to the White House for his second, non-consecutive term. To date, Palantir has been awarded over $900 million in federal contracts by the second Trump administration. The bulk of that total came less than 2 weeks ago when the Department of Defense awarded Palantir an enormous $795 million contract.

Bongino Reveals FBI Found Sensitive Documents Linked to James Comey; COVID Investigation Reopened

“Covid origins, are we going to find out information that the government lied to us?”

Bongino answered, “You’re damn right you are. We’re all over that.”

When asked if the misinformation was deliberate, Bongino said an investigation is already underway.

“Well, you’re going to find out. Yeah, listen, that’s the one I am the most optimistic about.”

He shared that reopening the case was one of his first actions in the role.

“I was pretty clear on my social media account that I ordered that case immediately to be looked into again. We have a great investigator on it and I think we should see action on that one shortly.”

Where’s the Money? Bannon Demands Accountability from the Deep State

With this blunt, unfiltered statement, Steve Bannon — former Chief Strategist to President Donald J. Trump and one of the most influential voices in the American conservative movement — reignited the national debate over the use of public funds, the culture of progressive waste, and the ongoing media deception perpetuated by institutions like PBS and NPR.

In a broadcast from his podcast War Room — followed by millions of patriotic Americans — Bannon denounced the diversion of billions of dollars under federal programs that, far from helping the average citizen, have fattened the pockets of bureaucrats, activists, and organizations aligned with the radical left.

«There’s supposedly $7 billion of… I don’t know, fraud. Out of a total of $7 trillion, he [referring to a senior official] pledged $1 trillion to the President of the United States,» Bannon stated, referencing a recent corruption scandal involving contracts with West Coast tech companies and a network of politically connected NGOs.

Bannon’s warning is not only timely — it is essential. In a nation where legacy media has failed to fulfill its oversight role, the leadership of the MAGA movement once again steps forward to demand transparency, accountability, and justice for the American taxpayer.

PBS, NPR, and Ideological Subsidies Masquerading as Public Service

The former White House strategist also turned his attention to a long-festering wound the progressive left refuses to close: the taxpayer money funneled to public broadcasters like PBS and NPR. For decades, these institutions have been funded by hardworking Americans while promoting ideological agendas that clash with the values of traditional, working-class America.

«Please, they didn’t need that. They’ve been fighting for that forever,» Bannon said, referring to the millions these platforms continue to receive despite declining viewership, overt political bias, and a lack of tangible results.

The criticism is not new, but it’s more urgent than ever. While gas prices remain high, inflation hammers grocery store shelves, and cities reel from waves of violence and insecurity, these entities continue to survive on taxpayer dollars with no clear accountability and no justification for their continued existence beyond ideological activism.

FDA Not Recommending Newly Approved COVID-19 Vaccine: Official

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a new COVID-19 vaccine but is not recommending people receive it, the agency’s top vaccine officials said on June 4.

“There’s another misconception I want to clarify, which is, people have said, ‘You at FDA are recommending the shots to high risk people and older people.’ I want to be very clear, the FDA is not your doctor. We are not, we don’t recommend shots to people,” Dr. Vinay Prasad, head of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said in a video released by the agency.

“What we do is we make them available for patients to have a conversation with their doctor. But I can understand a 66-year-old who goes to see their doctor and they may decide to do it or not do it, that’s their medical decision. FDA is granting a marketing authorization for that, but we are not in the business of making recommendations.”

Dr. Marty Makary, the FDA commissioner, said on the social media platform X that the FDA’s job “is to review data and decide whether products are safe and effective.”

Officials with the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research on May 31 approved a new COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna.

The FDA cleared the shot for two groups who have previously received a COVID-19 vaccine: people 65 and older, and those 12 to 64 with at least one condition the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says increases their risk of severe COVID-19.

The CDC recently stopped recommending COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children and pregnant women.

The FDA typically authorizes and approves vaccines, while the CDC issues vaccine recommendations.

Prasad’s predecessor at the FDA, Dr. Peter Marks, who resigned earlier this year, repeatedly recommended COVID-19 vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“You should get a COVID-19 booster,” Marks said in one video, published on Dec. 21, 2021.

He said that a booster, or an additional shot on top of a previous vaccination, “will increase the level of your immunity and will provide strong protection from the serious complications of COVID-19, including hospitalization and death.”

ACLU sues Sonoma County, alleges illegal drone surveillance program

Published June 4, 2025 2:55pm PDT

OAKLAND, Calif. - Sonoma County's Code Enforcement Division was today named in an ACLU lawsuit alleging the department has been using high-powered drones to conduct an illegal, warrantless surveillance program on county residents.

The program, launched six years ago, was intended to address unpermitted cannabis grows in hard-to-access rural areas, but the lawsuit, filed by the ACLU and a partner firm on behalf of three residents say it's become something more insidious.

"We all have the right to go about our lives in privacy in and around our homes without having to worry about a government drone flying overhead and recording us without a warrant or our knowledge," Matt Cagle, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU Foundation of Northern California, said in a press release. "

For too long, Sonoma County code enforcement has used high-powered drone to warrantlessly sift through people's private affairs and initiate charges that upend lives and livelihoods.

All the while, the County has hidden these unlawful searches from the people they've spied on, the community, and the media."

The suit named the Code Enforcement Division, its parent agency, and county officials who operate the program. The ACLU is seeking to have the County drone program declared unconstitutional and have it ended.

The Sonoma County Code Enforcement Division had not responded to request for comment as of this writing.

The suit

What they're saying:

The suit alleges that Nichola Schmitz, one of the plaintiffs, was subject to illegal surveillance and recording at her rural farm in October 2023.

Schmitz is deaf, and only became aware of the drone a worker pointed it out to her, the suit states. At that point, she ran into her bedroom and closed the blinds.

The complaint states she was worried that the drone had spied on her earlier in the day when she was naked or wrapped in a towal after her bath.

"This horrible experience has shattered my sense of privacy and security," Schmitz said in a press release. "I'm afraid to open my blinds or go outside to use my hot tub because who knows when the county's drone could be spying on."

Following the incident, Schmitz was cited for two violations of the county code: one for illegal grading and one for an unpermitted dwelling — a small cabin her now-deceased father had built in 1981.

The complaint states the county refused to answer when Schmitz asked if it was her neighbor who had used the drone. Schmitz worked with the county to rectify the problems, and spent around $25,000 in the process.

A year later the county acknowledged it had used a drone to observe her property, after repeatedly being asked by Schmitz.

"There was a single flyover from the public right of way (not over the property) on October 10, 2023, by Code Enforcement to confirm/deny the allegations of construction without permit for the sheds," the lawsuit states Hareland wrote in an email to Schmitz.

"The flyover was conducted according to policy. Any other flyovers were not done by Code Enforcement. No warrant was obtained or required by law."

Other county residents have shared similar stories, including one account from Suzanne Brock, who learned the county had surveilled her outdoor tub and shower after she was cited for alleged unpermitted construction of two barns on her property.

Upon learning that her property had been monitored via drone, the lawsuit states, Brock met with Code Enforcement officers and expressed concern that she might have been filmed naked in her bathtub.

"Defendant Sharp stated that 'when we see something like that, we turn around,'" the lawsuit states. "Brock was stunned and repeated, 'so when you see somebody, you turn it around?'

Sharp replied, 'yes... but we don't put that in the camera footage.'"

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg says President Donald Trump must provide illegal aliens deported to a prison in El Salvador the chance to challenge that move in court.

Boasberg’s order came on Wednesday regarding the illegals shipped off to the maximum security prison after they were removed under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, Fox News reported.

Trump Administration Rescinds Biden-Era Guidance Forcing Hospitals To Perform Abortions

Pro-life organizations and doctors celebrated the end of the Biden-era expansions as a win for women and babies.

The Trump administration officially rescinded Biden administration-era guidance that attempted to force hospitals to perform abortions in violation of pro-life states’ protections this week because it does “not reflect the policy of this Administration.”

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced on Tuesday that it will do away with former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra’s demands that hospitals perform abortions as “stabilizing” procedures, even if state law prohibits abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of a woman.

“CMS will continue to enforce EMTALA, which protects all individuals who present to a hospital emergency department seeking examination or treatment, including for identified emergency medical conditions that place the health of a pregnant woman or her unborn child in serious jeopardy,” the statement declares.

CMS also promised to “rectify any perceived legal confusion and instability created by the former administration’s actions.”

The Ronald Reagan administration enacted the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) in 1986 to stop hospitals from turning away patients based on their inability to pay the expenses. The law requires adequate treatment for an “unborn child” but also explicitly does “not preempt any State or local law requirement, except to the extent that the requirement directly conflicts with” EMTALA.

Shortly after the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, however, the CMS, at the behest of an executive order, expanded EMTALA to include abortion as a routine “irrespective of any state laws or mandates that apply to specific procedures.”

The Democrat regime then weaponized its redefinition of the law against Idaho for prohibiting abortion except in cases of rape or incest, or if a physician deems it necessary to save the mother’s life.

The Biden administration’s attack on the pro-life law made it all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled 6-3 in 2024 to toss the case back to the leftist San Francisco-based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Trump administration’s Department of Justice, however, formally dropped the Biden administration’s EMTALA attack on Idaho less than three months before CMS repealed the guidance.

Texas moves to label popular snacks as unsafe for human consumption. Bill targets 40+ banned ingredients, forcing Big Food to reveal what’s inside.

Texas lawmakers are taking a stand against chemical-laden processed foods, pushing a bill that would require warning labels on snacks and soft drinks containing ingredients banned in other countries. Senate Bill 25, which passed unanimously in the state senate, is now awaiting Governor Greg Abbott’s signature. If signed into law, it would force food manufacturers to disclose whether their products contain substances deemed unsafe by regulators in Australia, Canada, the European Union, or the United Kingdom.

The list of affected products is extensive. Skittles, M&M’s, Doritos, and Mountain Dew are among the brands that could soon carry labels warning consumers that their ingredients are not recommended for human consumption. The bill specifically targets synthetic dyes, bleached flour, and preservatives, many of which have been linked to health risks abroad but remain legal in the U.S.

The numbers tell the story. More than 40 ingredients flagged by international health agencies are still widely used in American snacks. Potassium bromate, a common additive in baked goods, is banned in Europe due to cancer concerns. Titanium dioxide, used in candy coatings, has been restricted in multiple countries over safety risks. Despite these warnings, U.S. regulators have allowed these substances to remain in the food supply.

Big Food is panicking. Walmart, PepsiCo, and General Mills have lobbied against the bill, arguing that state-level regulations could create confusion and increase costs. A coalition of food manufacturers sent a letter to Texas lawmakers urging them to remove the labeling provision, claiming it goes beyond federal guidelines.

Health officials are backing the legislation. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has voiced his support, calling the bill a step toward transparency and consumer protection. His Make America Healthy Again initiative has focused on eliminating harmful additives from the food supply, aligning with the goals of Senate Bill 25.

The fight over food labeling is just beginning. If Texas enacts this law, other states could follow, forcing manufacturers to reformulate their products or disclose controversial ingredients nationwide. The bill’s passage would mark a major victory for consumer rights, ensuring that Americans know exactly what they’re eating.

Tesla cars and components are almost entirely “Made in China”

Efe Udin Efe Udin February 25, 2022

A recall incident reveals that a huge part of Tesla’s business is handled by China. From the core three-electric system to the body sheet metal, to the charging gun, and even some hardware of the automatic driving system, all of them are contracted by Chinese suppliers. It appears that Tesla will soon achieve a complete “localization” of its vehicle. Who are Tesla’s suppliers?

Dismantling a Tesla car, we can broadly subdivide the core components into four parts including the chassis, cockpit central control, body sheet metal interior, and charging system. How many of these core components are from Chinese suppliers? Smart car reference sorts this out.

For the battery and charging system, a couple of Chinese companies makes the magic happen. We have the likes of Ganfeng Lithium, Tianqi Lithium, and Shanshan.

For the electric drive system, the electric drive module is provided by Xuri, and the motor part is provided by companies such as Zhongke Sanhuan and Jingda. All these companies are all Chinese.

For the central control system, the central control large screen is provided by BOE, Jingrui, Tianhua Ultra Clean, and a few other companies. Most of the companies in this regard are Chinese

The visual sensor supplier in Tesla automatic driving is Lianchuang Electronics while the high-precision map is from NavInfo. Both are also Chinese companies.

In addition, there are Chinese Tesla charging systems, body forging, battery management systems (BMS), and chassis.

On the whole, there are very few aspects of a Tesla car that has nothing to do with China. Apart from the autopilot chips and algorithms, almost all other aspects of a Tesla car are Made In China. Thus, if you don’t like China butyou drive a Tesla, then you should know that you are “swimming” in China.

Our Food is Being Poisoned with mRNA Technology

Is this Bill Gates and George Soros' Doing?

Even in 2025, a lot of people underestimate the very real dangers posed by the pharmaceutical industry. Over the years, big pharma has consistently demonstrated its willingness to put profit above public health.

This runs contrary to the talking points consistently fed to the public about medical officials and the collective healthcare community. Yet, believing what big pharma has to say is an inherent risk that every single American must remain vigilant about.

Many folks are familiar with mRNA COVID vaccines and the harm they caused to people’s hearts and internal organs. However, what’s much less known is the extent to which mRNA technology is being used to contaminate the food we eat.

This is Relatively New, Yet Deeply Terrifying

The same mRNA vaccines getting put into the human body by needle are also finding their way into our foods.

Jack Kaye Retires After a Storied Career at NASA

Jun 05, 2025

Jack Kaye [NASA HQ—Associate Director for Research, Earth Science Division (ESD)] has decided to retire on April 30, 2025, following 42 years of service to NASA – see Photo 1.

Most recently, Kaye served as associate director for research of the Earth Science Division (ESD) within NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD).

In this position, he was responsible for the research and data analysis programs for Earth System Science that addressed the broad spectrum of scientific disciplines from the stratopause to the poles to the oceans.

A New York native, Kaye’s interest in space was piqued as a child watching early NASA manned space launches on television. He would often write to NASA to get pictures of the astronauts.

In high school, he started an after school astronomy club. Despite a youthful interest in Earth science, as he explained in a 2014 “Maniac Talk” at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Kaye pursued a slightly different academic path.

He obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in chemistry from Adelphi University in 1976 and a Ph.D. in theoretical physical chemistry at the California Institute of Technology in 1982.

For his graduate studies, he focused on the quantum mechanics of chemical reactions with an aim toward being able to understand and calculate the activity.

Following graduate school, Kaye secured a post-doctoral position at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, where he studied the chemistry of Earth’s atmosphere with a focus on stratospheric ozone.

It was while working in a group of meteorologists at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center that Kaye returned to his roots and refocused his scientific energy on studying Earth.

“NASA had a mandate to study stratospheric ozone,” Kaye said in an interview in 2009. “I got involved in looking at satellite observations and especially trying to interpret satellite observations of stratospheric composition and building models to simulate things, to look both ways, to use the models and use the data.”

Kaye has held numerous science and leadership positions at NASA. He began his career at GSFC as a researcher for the Stratospheric General Circulation and Chemistry Modeling Project (SGCCP) from 1983–1990 working on stratospheric modeling.

In this role, he also worked on an Earth Observing System Interdisciplinary proposal. His first role at NASA HQ was managing as program scientist for the Atmospheric Chemistry Modeling and Analysis Program (ACMAP), as well as numerous other missions.

In this role, he was a project scientist for the Atmospheric Laboratory for Applications and Science (ATLAS) series of Shuttle missions. While managing ATLAS, Kaye oversaw the science carried out by a dozen instruments from several different countries.

He also managed several other Earth Science missions during this time. See the link to Kaye’s “Maniac Talk.”

Kaye entered the Senior Executive Service in 1999, where he continued to contribute to the agency by managing NASA’s Earth Science Research Program.

In addition, Kaye has held temporary acting positions as deputy director of ESD and deputy chief scientist for Earth Science within SMD.

Throughout his career he has focused on helping early-career investigators secure their first awards to establish their career path—see Photo 2.
