Got a point to make on this.

I just read thru the Cong Record for Jan 6.

They did entertain another objection - Pennsylvania.

However, the process for the objection is just Congressional members who speak for 5 minutes. How do you introduce actual evidence in this format? I don't see how it would have worked to begin with.

LAWSUIT SUMMARY: X Corp filed a defamation lawsuit against Media Matters for America and one of its writers, Eric Hananoki.

The key allegations are:

1) Media Matters published an article on November 16, 2023 with the headline "X has been placing ads for Apple, Bravo, IBM, Oracle, and Xfinity next to pro-Nazi content."

2) The article claimed that X was responsible for pairing big advertisers' paid posts with racist and anti-Semitic fringe content on its platform. X alleges these claims were false and defamatory.

3) X alleges that Media Matters intentionally manipulated the X platform by creating an account that followed only fringe figures and big advertisers, excessively refreshing its feed, with the intent of generating rare pairings of ads next to objectionable content to take misleading screenshots.

4) X claims Media Matters then omitted the context of its manipulation when publishing the article, intending to create the false impression that such pairings were commonplace on X.

5) After the report, several advertisers including Apple, NBCUniversal, and IBM pulled their advertising from X, allegedly causing harm to X's business.

6) X is suing for defamation, interference with business relationships, and interference with prospective economic advantage. It seeks damages, an injunction requiring Media Matters to remove the article, attorney's fees, and other relief.

In summary, X alleges Media Matters knowingly manipulated the X platform to manufacture a misleading narrative that X pairs advertiser content with hate speech, resulting in reputation damage and loss of advertising revenue for X.

Trump Calls to 'Revamp the RNC' If Debates Continue

The Republican frontrunner is calling for the GOP leadership to be more strategic with their finite funds.

Former President Donald J. Trump has just raised the stakes in the war between his faction and the establishment for the heart of the Republican Party.

In a Nov. 20 post on Truth Social, President Trump highlighted new poll results from Harvard University’s Center for American Political Studies and the Harris Poll saying both suggest that the Republican National Committee (RNC) should spend money against Democrats rather than investing in additional debates.

“If not, revamp the RNC, now!” the former president wrote.

The broadside comes just a few weeks ahead of the fourth GOP debate, scheduled for Dec. 6 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. President Trump, being the Republican frontrunner, has boycotted every such event so far.

It also follows businessman and GOP 2024 candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s petition calling on RNC head Ronna Romney McDaniel to resign. He made the same demand early in the third debate.

Mr. Ramaswamy is not alone in questioning Ms. McDaniel’s leadership, particularly after the GOP and conservative proposals fared poorly in multiple Nov. 7 elections and ballot initiatives. In recent weeks, Trump allies have stepped up their criticism of her.

“I think the overhead of the entire operation needs to be examined,” said Trump advisor Roger Stone in a Nov. 16 appearance with Kimberly Guilfoyle on her Rumble show.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) said in another recent interview, “I think Ronna McDaniel’s got a lot of things that she's got to answer to and she's got to do it fast. You can't just say it's the state parties, even though [in] some of these elections—Ohio, Kentucky—the state party has a lot of answers that they need to bring as well. But Ronna is the head of the table. She's the RNC chair. She's got to step up.”

Ms. McDaniel, the niece of Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), was appointed to her current position by President Trump at the start of his term.

She responded to the criticisms in a recent interview with CNN’s Dana Bash.

“This Republican-on-Republican infighting—I’m not running for president so I’m not in this primary—isn’t helping our party,” she said.

“We need every Republican and then some to win elections. And the Republican voters want to hear us talk about the border, fentanyl, Israel, our kids, crime, inflation, and they want to see us take on Joe Biden,” Ms. McDaniel continued.

The RNC head also pledged to back President Trump if he is the nominee. He has declined to sign the loyalty oath that he would back the party's eventual choice, one of the preconditions for appearing in the debates.

A large military aircraft, a Boeing P-8A Poseidon, crash-landed in Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii after overshooting the runway. The plane is often used for reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and hunting for submarines. All nine people on board survived after swimming to shore.

At approximately 10:45 AM, an alert was issued for a downed military aircraft, which prompted a swift response from the ​Honolulu Emergency Medical Services Department, the AP News reported.

Federal Appeals Court Panel Blasts Judge Chutkan, Signals it will Narrow Trump’s Unconstitutional Gag Order

A federal appeals court on Monday signaled it would partially grant President Trump’s request to remove his gag order in Jack Smith’s bogus election interference case.

Trump’s lawyers have been fighting Chutkan’s gag order since she first imposed it last month.

Earlier this month President Trump filed an appeal brief on Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order. Trump argued Chutkan’s gag order is broad, vague and violates his First Amendment rights.

On October 20, Judge Chutkan agreed to temporarily pause her own gag order in the DOJ’s January 6 case while Trump and Jack Smith submit appeal briefs.

Thierry Baudet attacked with beer bottle in Groningen bar

Thierry Baudet, leader of the far-right party Forum voor Democratie, has been taken to hospital in Groningen after he was hit on the head several times by someone wielding a bottle.

It is the second physical attack on Baudet within a month.

The incident happened in a busy city centre bar. Camera footage shows Baudet smiling for photos and then someone hitting him three times. A security guard quickly ushers Baudet away while two others appear to detain his attacker.

The Fvd said later on social media that “it appears as if everything will be okay”. Party leaders have been quick to condemn the attack, which has taken place just two days before the general election.

Forum MP Freek Jansen who was with Baudet at the time told the Telegraaf the pro-Russia party leader was bleeding from the head after the attack. The attacker, who was arrested, shouted something about being “done with fascism”, Jansen said.

At the end of October, Baudet was hit on the head with an umbrella as he arrived at a meeting at the University of Ghent.

Baudet was about to enter the building to give a talk to a far right group when he was hit by a single blow. The perpetrator was arrested. According to broadcaster NOS, the suspect shouted “no to fascism, no to Putinism” in Ukrainian as he attacked the MP.

HERBL completely collapsed less than a month later, following in the footsteps of other California cannabis startups like Flow Kana and MedMen.

The company leaves behind $17 million in unpaid taxes, while several smaller pot companies which have been left in the lurch, SFGate reports.

"Mike [Beaudry, HERBL’s CEO] and his team did a really good job of hiding that fact from their own brands… that’s how they kept getting our products," said Ali Jamalian, owner of San Francisco cannabis company Sunset Connect, who claims that HERBL owes him $180,000.

Another CEO, Tyler Kearns of Sacramento-based cannabis company Seven Leaves, said HERBL owes his company $880,000. He says he knew the collapsed distributor was in trouble when he found out in June that they were laying off delivery drivers, and that it was going to be near impossible to get that money back.

"I knew this was going to be the biggest failure in U.S. cannabis history," he told the outlet.

HERBL's role in the California cannabis ecosystem was crucial, acting as a middleman between pot producers and retailers. Its downfall isn't just a bad trip for the company; it's a red flag for the industry, indicating that even the mightiest can fall due to systemic issues.

"I do feel like we’re going to see a significant and material number of closures, up and down the supply chain," said Wesley Hein, president of the Cannabis Distribution Association, who attributes HERBL's failure in part to poor business decisions - particularly its continued reliance on traditional distribution models while pot retailers struggled to pay their bills. He says the collapse also exposes systemic issues in the state's pot industry that will doom other industries - such as overtaxation, competition from unlicensed businesses, and "very excessive and overly burdensome regulations."

He compared the collapse of HERBL to Lehman. Lehman Brothers was a century-old firm with 99 profitable years, you would think somebody in all of that would go, ‘Let’s bail them out, let’s put money in.’ But when they looked like they were too risky to invest in, that really signaled something," said Hein.

"This is a story about HERBL, but it’s also a story about every distributor, so there’s still time to fix the system," Hein said, adding "There’s always time to start trying to improve and correct things."

According to Adam Cavanaugh, president of Cannabiz Credit Association, a group that tracks debt and provides credit ratings for cannabis companies, a lack of bankruptcy protections in the industry make it harder for pot companies to get paid if another collapses.(you KNEW that going in also knew it was unlikely to ever change so go cry somewhere else)

This lack of access to traditional bankruptcy protections indeed presents more risk for companies doing business with cannabis-related entities, as they may find it more challenging to recover their outstanding debts," he told SFGate in an email, adding that his group has already tracked over $20 million in debt within the California cannabis industry, a "remarkable" 27% increase from 2022.

Media Matters chief David Brock paid a former domestic partner $850,000 after being threatened with damaging information involving the organization’s donors and the IRS – a deal that Brock later characterized as a blackmail payment, according to legal documents obtained by FoxNews.com.

In an acrimonious lawsuit settled at the end of last year, Brock accused William Grey of making repeated threats to expose him to the "scorn or ridicule of his employees, donors and the press in demanding money and property." Brock claimed in legal papers that he sold a Rehoboth Beach, Del., home he once shared with Grey in order to meet Grey’s demands, which he called "blackmail" in the lawsuit. Brock, 49, heads the non-profit Media Matters for America, which bills itself as a watchdog of the conservative media but has recently come under fire for allegedly coordinating with Democrats in what could be a violation of its tax-exempt status.

Brock’s bitter legal battle with Grey, who is described in a Sept. 14, 2010, police report obtained by FoxNews.com as his domestic partner of more than 10 years, began after Brock began dating Washington, D.C., restaurant impresario James Alefantis about five years ago. For the next three years, Brock and Grey traded angry accusations, which were documented in the police report and were the foundation of a pitched legal battle replete with charges of blackmail, theft and financial malfeasance.

In his response to Brock's lawsuit, Grey "denies that he committed any "acts of blackmail.""

Brock took Grey’s threats seriously and called police in 2010. In the police report, filed by Metropolitan Police as a stalking incident, Brock accused Grey, also 49, of attempting to blackmail him with a series of emails threatening to "release specific derogatory information about [Brock] and his organization to the press and donors that would be embarrassing to him and cause harm to the organization …"

Some of those emails came out as the lawsuit, filed by Grey on Jan. 28, 2011, wound its way through Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Grey threatened to go public about Brock and Media Matters' finances after he accused Brock in a civil suit filed in Washington of taking $170,000 in possessions, including an $8,000 Louis Vuitton suit bag, paintings, a rug, a chandelier, a painted bust of a Roman soldier and a pair of carved wooden chairs upholstered with purple fabric. Those possessions were displayed in the Washington townhouse where the couple entertained liberal movers and shakers in happier times.

Brock said in court papers that he paid Grey "under duress."

On March 8, 2011, Brock filed his own suit against Grey for more than $4 million, demanding Grey return the $850,000, plus pay millions more in punitive damages. The two settled two months ago under terms that remain confidential.

Paying off Grey may not have been easy for Brock, even with his salary of nearly $300,000 at Media Matters. Records show Brock had pulled massive amounts of equity from the six-bedroom Rehoboth Beach house as its value skyrocketed during the real estate bubble.

Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman on Sunday suggested that former President Donald Trump constituted a threat to American democracy and ought not to be eligible to hold public office again. His choice of words, however, drew criticism for giving the appearance of condoning political violence, and prompted him to later clarify his position.

During an appearance on MSNBC's "Inside with Jen Psaki," the lawmaker said that Trump's "rhetoric is really getting dangerous, more and more dangerous, and we saw what happened on Jan. 6, when he uses inflammatory rhetoric."

"It is just unquestionable at this point that that man cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy and he has to be eliminated," he continued.

Goldman's choice of words, in particular the use of "eliminated," led conservatives to suggest that he ought to receive a visit from Secret Service for using a turn of phrase that could be construed as calling for Trump's assassination.

"In the least, Goldman should be investigated by the Secret Service for this threat," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton commented.

"If a Republican went on TV and said that a Democrat presidential candidate needed to be 'eliminated' they'd be raided by the FBI within hours. Donald Trump is facing half a millennia in prison for saying people should 'fight,'" TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk posted. "Instead, Dan Goldman alludes to the assassination of Donald Trump and does so with zero consequences and zero fear of any consequences."

Goldman later clarified that he intended Trump no harm.

"Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again. While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words," he said on Monday.

BREAKING: Truth Social sues 20 media companies for defamation

The suit alleges that there has been "an unprecedented and seemingly coordinated media campaign" by no less than 20 major media outlets, to attack Trump Media.

Trump-backed social media company Truth Social launched a defamation suit on Monday against 20 social media companies. Plaintiff Trump Media & Technology Group Corp sued The Guardian, Hollywood Reporter, the Miami Herald, Reuters, Rolling Stone, The Hill, Deadline, Benzinga, Marketwatch, Forbes, Axios, The Daily Beast, Gizmodo, Salon, The New York Daily News, Newsweek, MSNBC, Mediaite, The Daily Mail, and CNBC.

The suit alleges that there has been "an unprecedented and seemingly coordinated media campaign by no less than 20 major media outlets, to attack Trump Media & Technology Group (“TMTG”) and its social media platform, Truth Social, by falsely reporting that TMTG had lost $73 million."

The suit claims that the number was "an utter fabrication," and that each defendant, "in apparent coordination," published that number within 24 hours of one another. The outlets, the suit claims, all sourced an SEC filing, but that $73 million loss amount is not contained in the cited filing.

Truth Social alleges that this was "a coordinated effort" to damage the company's reputation and hinder an anticipated merger. "All defendants ran nearly identical headlines that reported some variation of 'Trump’s Truth Social' having lost '$73 million,'" the suit contends.

The alleged defamation, the suit states, "deeply harmed" Truth Social as it had the effect of "eroding faith in the copmany's operations and management," and made it "more difficult" for the company to raise additional funds while the anticipated merger is pending with the SEC.

Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski said "Truth Social just filed an unprecedented defamation lawsuit incorporating twenty media companies. The tide is finally turning, corporate media and activists are going to feel the heat."

Rumble has announced its plans to file a suit and "go thermonuclear." This after Elon Musk's X announced their intentions to do so, and made good on that promise on Monday. It was Media Matters' publication of a hit piece against X, alleging that ads appeared on the platform alongside antisemitic content, that was the cataylst for the suit by X against Media Matters.

Trump Media sues 20 news outlets over allegedly false loss reports, alleges defamation

TMTG alleged that the outlets "deliberately or recklessly published false financial information to advance a preferred and coordinated narrative harmful to TMTG."

The Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates Truth Social, on Monday announced a lawsuit against 20 media organizations over allegedly false reports stating that the company had suffered tens of millions in losses.

The suit, filed in the Florida state court in Sarasota County, points to a recent slew of news articles claiming the company had lost $73 million, a number the company called an "utter fabrication."

Among the outlets named in the suit are Guardian News and Media, The Hollywood Reporter, the Miami Herald, Reuters, Rolling Stone, The Hill, Deadline Hollywood, Benzinga, MarketWatch, Forbes, Axios, The Daily Beast, Gizmodo, Salon, The New York Daily News, Newsweek, MSNBC Cable, Mediaite, The Dailly Mail, and CNBC.

The lawsuit was made public after business hours, when comments from the defendant media companies could not be obtained.

"Each defendant, in apparent coordination, reported the exact same false number within approximately 24 hours of one another, each citing to a public Securities and Exchange Commission ('SEC') filing, in which the mystery $73 million loss appears nowhere," the suit claims.

Truth Social lawsuit

Last week, the Trump Media & Technology Group filed an amended S-4 registration statement with the SEC to advance its long delayed merger with Digital World Acquisition Corporation, a special purpose acquisition company, that would allow the firm to secure a listing on the stock exchange and raise further capital.

The myriad reports, according to the suit, cited the publicly-available filing in alleging that TMTG suffered a $73 million loss, though that figure appears nowhere in the SEC document.

TMTG alleged that the outlets "deliberately or recklessly published false financial information to advance a preferred and coordinated narrative harmful to TMTG." They further contended that the defendant organizations had actively worked to thwart the Digital World merger.

"TMTG intends to hold these reckless and malicious media outlets to account for their false reporting and for their seemingly coordinated effort to destroy TMTG and Truth Social," the suit asserted, although the suit does not make a claim for civil conspiracy.

TMTG further stated that it had notified the outlets of their error and sought retractions, conceding that some outlets had issued corrections or updates to their existing articles, but that "none have retracted the defamatory articles, publicly apologized, or taken any other steps to ameliorate the continuing damage."

The Hollywood Reporter, for example, posted a correction at the bottom of the article that reads as follows:

This story has been updated to more accurately reflect TMTG’s net losses as disclosed on its balance sheet. An initial read of the Nov. 13 securities filing, since updated on Nov. 14, reported that Truth Social posted a $50 million loss in 2022, when in fact that figure was listed as a profit.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is Suing Pfizer for Defrauding Public Over Drug

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading the way in seeking accountability for Big Pharma companies by launching a lawsuit against Covid vaccine manufacturer Pfizer.

The Texas lawsuit, filed under seal, is requesting discovery against Pfizer for its Covid vaccines under the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevent Act (TMFPA).

“This is a law enforcement action under TMFPA to recover taxpayer dollars spent as a result of fraudulent conduct committed by Pfizer Inc., Tris Pharma Inc., and Tris CEO Ketan Mehta,” the unsealed lawsuit states.

The purpose of the lawsuit was clarified in a press release:

The Office of the Attorney General’s Civil Medicaid Fraud Division has sued Pfizer, Inc., Tris Pharma, Inc. and Tris CEO Ketan Mehta for defrauding the Texas Medicaid program by providing adulterated pharmaceutical drugs to Texas children in violation of the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act, now known as the Texas Health Care Program Fraud Prevention Act (“THFPA”).

Pfizer contracted with Tris, a drug manufacturer, to produce a pediatric attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder medication (“ADHD”), Quillivant XR. Pfizer knowingly distributed Quillivant to children on Medicaid despite the drug’s pattern of failing quality control tests due to flawed manufacturing practices. For years, Tris altered the drug’s testing method in violation of federal and state laws to ensure Quillivant passed regulatory hurdles and could continue to be sold.

Despite knowing about these serious problems, Pfizer misrepresented to the Medicaid program that Quillivant was in compliance with federal and state law, and concealed from Medicaid decision-makers the fact that Quillivant was an adulterated drug. As a result of these misrepresentations and concealments, Pfizer and Tris obtained the benefit of taxpayer-funded Medicaid reimbursement for Quillivant.

From 2012 to 2018, Pfizer and Tris continually manipulated Quillivant testing to hide poor manufacturing practices and defraud the Texas Medicaid program. During this time, many families complained that the medication failed to work.

“I am horrified by the dishonesty we uncovered in this investigation,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Pfizer and Tris intentionally concealed and failed to disclose the issues with Quillivant to receive taxpayer funded benefits through Texas Medicaid, defrauding the state and endangering children. Our Civil Medicaid Fraud Division has done an outstanding job holding these pharmaceutical companies accountable.”

The filing explains: “At no point did Defendants warn Texas Medicaid providers or decision-makers that Quillivant had known manufacturing issues affecting its efficacy, thereby depriving the Medicaid program of the crucial information it relies on.… As a result, thousands of Texas children received an adulterated Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.”

'Zombie Deer Disease' Confirmed at Yellowstone

A rare and fatal illness, chronic wasting disease (CWD), colloquially known as "zombie deer disease," has been detected in Yellowstone National Park for the first time, sparking concerns among wildlife experts and conservationists.

After running multiple diagnostic tests, the National Park Service confirmed the presence of the disease in an adult mule deer found near Yellowstone Lake. The deer was part of a population study by Wyoming's Game and Fish Department and had been fitted with a GPS collar.

"CWD is a contagious, fatal disease of deer, elk and moose caused by a malformed protein [prion] for which there is no vaccine or known treatment," the National Park Service wrote in a statement.

The malformed protein builds up in the brain and other tissues causing psychological and behavioral changes, like excessive drooling, listlessness, weight loss and eventual death. The disease, which impacts the central nervous system, can take more than a year to manifest visible symptoms in animals.

The disease has been found in animal populations in at least 31 U.S. states, Canada, Norway, Finland, Sweden and South Korea, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

There have been no reported cases of infection in humans, however, "because of the long time it takes before any symptoms of disease appear, scientists expect the [CWD transmission] study to take many years before they will determine what the risk, if any, of CWD is to people," the CDC said.

The CDC recommends that hunters remain cautious and test the deer or elk meat for CDW before consuming.

The contagious disease is transmitted via bodily fluids and waste, including saliva, urine, feces, and contaminated soil.

"Experts believe CWD prions can remain in the environment for a long time, so other animals can contract CWD from the environment even after an infected deer or elk has died," the CDC said.

Once established in an area, "there is currently no effective strategy to eradicate it," the National Park Service said. Therefore, the disease poses a significant challenge to wildlife management.

The National Park Service is working with other agencies to identify at-risk areas and is increasing monitoring and sample testing. Yellowstone is updating its surveillance plan, as well. In the meantime, the park has warned visitors to stay away from wildlife.

Chronic wasting disease (CWD), a highly infectious and fatal neurological disease that’s spreading through North American herds of elk, moose, mule and white-tailed deer, may be more transmissible to humans than previously thought. Researchers in the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) have published a paper in Acta Neuropathologica that shows there is a risk of zoonotic transmission of the prion disease.

“This is the first study to show that the barrier for CWD prions to infect humans is not absolute and that there is an actual risk that it can transmit to humans,” says Dr. Sabine Gilch, PhD, associate professor and Canada Research Chair in Prion Disease Research at UCVM. Prion diseases attack proteins in the brain, causing clumps to form and eventually, death.

Two well-known prion diseases are bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), or Mad Cow Disease, in cattle and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. “From Mad Cow Disease we know that prion diseases can jump the transmission barrier from animals to humans,” says Gilch. “During the BSE crisis, BSE was transmitted through contaminated meat or food products to humans and caused a new form of human prion disease, called variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.”

Previous research into CWD has studied hunters who consume game in geographies with high prevalence of the disease in animals and found no evidence of human infection. “This study is an experimental model, yet it gives a lot of new information and insight to the zoonotic potential of CWD if you compare it with other published studies,” says lead author Dr. Samia Hannaoui, PhD, research associate in the Gilch lab.

An employee with the United States Postal Service was accused of stealing checks worth at least $24 million from the postal service and colluding with two others to sell the stolen checks, according to prosecutors.

Charlotte, North Carolina, resident 29-year-old Nakedra Shannon was working for the postal service between March 2021 and July 2023, when she allegedly began stealing checks towards the end of her time with her employer, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina announced Friday.

She and fellow Charlotte residents 27-year-old Donnell Gardner, and 24-year-old Desiray Carter were hit with charges of one count of conspiracy to commit financial institution fraud and five counts of theft of government property.

Carter and Gardner face an additional seven counts of possession of stolen mail, while Shannon faces an additional eight counts of theft of mail by a postal employee, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Authorities unsealed the federal indictment against the trio after their first court appearance.

The recent shipment of heat source plutonium-238 from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Oak Ridge National Laboratory to its Los Alamos National Laboratory is a critical step toward fueling planned NASA missions with radioisotope power systems.

This shipment of 0.5 kilograms (a little over 1 pound) of new heat source plutonium oxide is the largest since the domestic restart of plutonium-238 production over a decade ago. It marks a significant milestone toward achieving the constant rate production average target of 1.5 kilograms per year by 2026.

Radioisotope power systems, or RPS, enable exploration of some of the deepest, darkest, and most distant destinations in the solar system and beyond. RPS use the natural decay of the radioisotope plutonium-238 to provide heat to a spacecraft in the form of a Light Weight Radioisotope Heater Unit (LWRHU), or heat and electricity in the form of a system such as the Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (MMRTG).

The DOE has produced the heat source plutonium oxide required to fuel the RPS for missions such as NASA’s Mars 2020. The first spacecraft to benefit from this restart, the Perseverance rover, carries some of the new plutonium produced by DOE. An MMRTG continuously provides the car-sized rover with heat and about 110 watts of electricity, enabling the exploration of the Martian surface and the gathering of soil samples for possible retrieval.

“NASA’s Radioisotope Power Systems Program works in partnership with the Department of Energy to enable missions to operate in some of the most extreme environments in our solar system and interstellar space,” said Carl Sandifer, RPS program manager at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.

For over sixty years, the United States has employed radioisotope-based electrical power systems and heater units in space. Three dozen missions have explored space for decades using the reliable electricity and heat provided by RPS.

NASA and DOE are continuing their long-standing partnership to ensure the nation can enable future missions requiring radioisotopes for decades to come.

LOS ANGELES, CA—NOV. 20, 2023—Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., independent candidate for president of the United States of America, issued the following statement to the American people in response to the upcoming 60th anniversary of his uncle President John F. Kennedy’s death on Nov. 22, 1963:

“John F. Kennedy’s assassination left an indelible scar upon the American psyche. Everyone who was alive at the time can remember where they were on that day.

“Of all the legacies that my uncle left for our country, there is one that has not yet been fulfilled. During his term in office, he upheld a vision of America as a nation of peace, a vision that was abandoned after his death. For the next 60 years, we maintained a military empire, squandering trillions of dollars as our economy hollowed out and our health and infrastructure decayed.

“My promise to the American people is that I will put us back on the road to peace that JFK led us toward when, shortly before his death, he issued a national security order to withdraw American advisers from Vietnam. We will instead take a path back toward peace and prosperity for our country.”

On Nov. 22, the Kennedy campaign is launching a petition demanding President Biden keep his promise and release all JFK assassination documents as required by law.

As the petition explains, the 1992 Kennedy Records Assassination Act mandated the release of all records related to the JFK assassination by 2017. Trump refused to do it. Biden refused to do it. Kennedy asks, “What is so embarrassing that they're afraid to show the American public 60 years later?”

Trust in government is at an all-time low. Releasing the full, unredacted historical records will help to restore that trust. In the spirit of transparency, in the spirit of democracy, the Kennedy campaign asks Americans to call upon President Biden to obey the 1992 act and release the Kennedy assassination documents to the public.

Binance Founder Changpeng Zhao Agrees to Step Down, Plead Guilty

The chief executive of Binance, the largest global cryptocurrency exchange, plans to step down and plead guilty to violating criminal U.S. anti-money-laundering requirements, in a deal that may preserve the company’s ability to continue operating, according to people familiar with the matter.

Changpeng Zhao is scheduled to appear in Seattle federal court Tuesday afternoon and enter his plea, the people said. Binance, which Zhao owns, will also plead guilty to a criminal charge and agree to pay fines totaling $4.3 billion, which includes amounts to settle civil allegations made by regulators, the people said.

The deal would end long-running investigations of Binance. Zhao founded the firm in 2017 and turned it into the most important hub of the global crypto market. The criminal probe, in particular, has shadowed the company even as its market share initially grew after the collapse last year of FTX, one of its main offshore competitors.

Executives have recently fled Binance, and the exchange has laid off a chunk of its employees this year as the company struggled to come to terms with the U.S. probes.

The deal would allow Zhao to retain his majority ownership of Binance, although he won’t be able to have an executive role at the company. He would face sentencing at a later date.
