CHARLESTON, W.Va (WDTV) - The West Virginia National Guard is bracing for a government shutdown.
On Friday, the WVNG issued guidance to its full-time workforce to prepare more than 1,500 Soldiers, Airmen and civilians for a lapse in funding from the federal government if a budget deal is not reached by midnight on Sept. 30.
The WVNG says that if a budget deal is not passed by Sept. 30 at midnight, the full-time force of Active Guard Reserve members will report to work on Monday, Oct. 2 without pay until a budget is passed.

House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-KY) subpoenaed James Biden’s Lion Hall Group and JBBSR, Inc., entities on Thursday because the committee could not identify “legitimate services provided by James Biden’s companies.” Comer’s subpoena appears to be directed at obtaining records linked to President Joe Biden’s corporation, “CelticCapri Corp,” which received nearly $10 million in 2017 without specifying revenue line items. “So that’s an LLC account. It wasn’t a shell company — that was a real LLC account with more earnings in there than what we can find. So that is an account we plan to subpoena as we follow the money,” Comer said last week.

THOSE of us who knew from the beginning that the sequence of CoV-SARS-2 contained inserts which could not have possibly occurred naturally, and were similar to ones that had already been published from the Wuhan laboratory, have had to endure unbelievable scorn, scientific ostracism, and the ignominy of being “cancelled” by the mainstream media (MSM) as well as by professional colleagues for nearly three years now. In the summer of 2020 a paper I co-authored, describing the findings of an Anglo-Norwegian team of scientists who had demonstrated unique “fingerprints” of laboratory manipulation in the COVID virus, was suppressed in both the United States and UK.

Experts believe that more than seven million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since *President Biden occupied the White House. The apparatchiks in the Pravda Press downplay the situation by assuring us the invaders are “families,” even though most of the videos we see are of single, military-aged men, frequently from Venezuela. But the most onerous onslaught at our northern and southern borders is the disturbing number of single, military-aged Chinese men and women finding their way into our country and disappearing once they get in. FACT-O-RAMA! Between January and March of 2022, 71 Chinese individuals crossed the Darien Gap, the strip of land that connects North and South America, the route

On Wednesday night, 109 Republicans voted against an amendment proposed by Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) that would strip the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) of 25 percent of its funding. CISA, a subsidiary of the Department of Homeland Security, has made a habit of censoring the American public and interfering in our elections by policing speech. According to federal lawmakers, CISA is the “nerve center” of federal government censorship.(snip)The agency justifies censoring truth because it claims to be “protecting” the American public’s “cognitive infrastructure.”(snip)CISA is an affront to the Constitution. It is a criminal organization that, along with the entire post-9/11 surveillance apparatus, has no right to exist in

Lawsuit filed seeking to remove Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo from office
The lawsuit said “after July 27, 2023 Judge Hidalgo has abandoned the office of the Harris County Judge and failed to perform any of the duties and responsibilities of the Harris County Judge.”
The lawsuit continues saying Hidalgo missed scheduled meetings on Aug. 8, Aug. 17, Aug. 22, Aug. 29, Sept. 12, and Sept. 19. It said at least three of the meetings were regularly scheduled meetings.
“Judge Hidalgo’s absence from public office has prevented her and continues to prevent her from the lawful discharge of her duties as Harris County Judge,” the lawsuit reads.

Rep. Gaetz says Kevin McCarthy’s speakership is on ‘tenuous’ ground
Rep. Matt Gaetz told reporters Saturday that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s speakership is on shaky ground over a failure to bring his conference to pass twelve spending measures.
However, the Florida Republican has yet to announce a motion to vacate the chair that would oust him from the speakership.
“I would say it’s on some tenuous ground,” said Mr. Gaetz, Florida Republican.
“Right now, our plan is to continue to build support for our single-subject spending bills. This 45 day [stopgap spending bill] does not liberate us from our nation’s financial challenges,” he said. “We remain $33 trillion in debt. We’re facing $2.2 trillion annual deficits.”
Mr. McCarthy told reporters Saturday morning he was willing to risk his job and be the adult in the room to pass a “clean” stopgap spending bill under suspension that eliminates border policy and spending cuts.
Voting for legislation under suspension means that Mr. McCarthy, California Republican, can avoid wasting time with procedural votes.
Mr. McCarthy said he attempted and failed to convince Republicans to pass a more conservative temporary stopgap measure on Friday to keep the government open.
Mr. Gaetz shot back that there was “nothing” about delaying the process of the passage of the 12 spending bills that is being the adult in the room.
“What would have been the adult in the room is putting up our spending bills in the spring and in the summer, being the adult in the room would have realized that we shouldn’t have then taken August, outside of Washington, D.C.,” he said.
Mr. Gaetz accused Mr. McCarthy of making multiple contradictory promises about the budget top line to different groups of people.
“He made one promise to House conservatives in January to secure the position. He made another promise to President Biden, he made a third promise altogether to House appropriators,” he said.

Congressman Russell Fry
@RepRussellFry
I just voted NO on the 45-day CR that would continue to fund the government at spending levels established by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats.
I was not sent here to vote for the status quo. We MUST cut federal spending!

I think so anon.
Now I'm thinking, knowing the Senate, they may NOT pass the stopgap 45 day funding, simply because it does not have the support for Ukraine in the Membrane!!

that is my understanding as well anon, this will cause the senate to be the issue and if it fails it will be because funding for ukraine was denied. But yeah lots of things in motion.

UPDATE: Office of Rep. Bowman Claims He “Did Not Realize He Would Trigger Building Alarm” – LAUGHABLE!
Politico has reported Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled the fire alarm inside of the House office building as the Democratic Party attempted to delay a vote on a Republican spending bill.
In the report, Politico shared that. spokesperson for the Republican Administration committee stated Bowman “pulled a fire alarm in Cannon this morning.”
The spokesperson continued “An investigation into why it was pulled is underway.”
As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier the Capitol Police even released a photo of Bowman pulling the alarm.
In response to Bowman pulling the alarm, his digital director Emma Simon stated “Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote. The Congressman regrets any confusion.”

Government shutdown: House passes short-term spending deal

WASHINGTON — A last-ditch effort by the House of Representatives to prevent a government shutdown passed on Saturday. The continuing resolution provides a short-term deal to extend funding for 45 days.
The bill, which now goes to the Senate, passed by a 335-91 margin and included overwhelming support by House Democrats. Republicans voted 126-90 to pass the measure, while Democrats approved the bill by a 209-1 margin. Seven members of the House did not vote.
The only Democrat to vote against was Rep. Mike Quigley of Illinois, according to CNN.
If the bill passes in the Senate, then funding will be extended through Nov. 17. After Saturday’s vote, the House adjourned until Monday.
The bill omits aid to Ukraine but increased federal disaster assistance by $16 billion, according to The Associated Press. There was also an extension of reauthorization for the Federal Aviation Administration, The Washington Post reported.
If the Senate rejects the House bill and does not have a deal in place to extend funding by 12:01 a.m. EDT on Sunday, the federal government will experience its 22nd shutdown or funding gap since 1976.
H.R. 5860, a 71-page bill, came to the floor under suspension of the rules, which meant that it needed a two-thirds vote in the House to pass. Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., needed support from Democrats to pass the resolution, and they gave it to the embattled speaker.
An attempt by Democrats to adjourn to further study the bill failed by a 427-0 vote early Saturday afternoon. Later, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., spoke in the House and criticized Republicans for “dropping a bill on us at the eleventh hour.”
“I rise today to have a conversation with the American people,” Jeffries said. “So strap in, because this may take a little while.”
Because of the bipartisan deal, McCarthy’s speakership could be in jeopardy, CNN reported. Far-right members of the Republican caucus, including Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., have said that such a move would trigger a motion to vacate the chair and force a vote to oust the Speaker.
“If I have to risk my job for standing up for the American public, I will do that,” McCarthy said. “If someone wants to remove me, then so be it.”
“I would say it’s on some tenuous ground,” Gaetz told reporters on Saturday, according to CNN.
Hours before the shutdown, the House had announced plans on Saturday to vote on a 45-day short-term spending bill, called a continuing resolution, which would include natural disaster aid that the White House sought, The Washington Post reported. That would keep the government open through Nov. 17.
If the government shuts down, gates at national parks will be locked, rangers will be furloughed
McCarthy met with House Republicans for a private meeting at the Capitol on Saturday morning, the Times reported.
It did not include billions of dollars that President Joe Biden had sought, House Rules Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., told reporters.
“Let’s not overcomplicate the matter,” Cole said before the vote. “Let’s keep the government open.”
Government shutdown: There have been 21 shutdowns or funding gaps in US history
McCarthy attempted to break the deadlock on Friday afternoon but was voted down by a 232-210 margin, The New York Times reported. Twenty-one Republicans defected to vote with Democrats to defeat Friday’s measure.
Friday’s proposal sought to keep the government open for 30 days, with up to 29% of cuts to government programs, according to the newspaper. The cuts did not include areas like veterans, homeland security or natural disaster response.
Jeffries in a speech in the House on Saturday, called Friday’s proposal “draconian” and said that Saturday’s measure was similar in its scope.
The proposal did direct the secretary of homeland security to resume “all activities related to the construction of the border wall” at the southern border that were in place under former President Donald Trump, the Times reported.

Rock band Kiss stuns MCG crowd ahead of AFL grand final between Lions and Magpies
Kiss has stunned crowds at the MCG with a massive performance, shaking off criticisms the rock band is too old to perform at an AFL grand final in 2023.
Performing in front of a full house at the MCG ahead of the grand final between Collingwood and Brisbane, the American rockers took to the stage clad in their signature heavy make-up and glam-rock outfits.

Is KISS Is An Acronym For Knights In Satan’s Service?Gene Simmons Once Revealed The Truth Behind The Rumor
One of the most well-known bands whose names have often been mentioned in conspiracy theories is KISS. The legendary musicians were accused of worshipping the devil quite a few times. Their stage personas gave the perfect excuse for their audience to judge them since the musicians often showed up wearing super-villain stage make-up, all-black outfits, and sometimes spit blood.
Some fans were so blindly convinced that KISS was a satanic band that they started to look for hints. That’s when they came up with the idea that their name is an acronym for, ‘Knights In Satan’s Service.’ As crazy as it sounds, the band members didn’t deny these allegations for a while, and some people still think this rumor is actually true. Let’s look into the time this rumor spread and why Gene Simmons thought owning the story was clever.

https://blog.isosceles.com/the-webp-0day/
The WEBP 0-day (security bug in webp processing, webp Google's new image format)
Early last week, Google released a new stable update for Chrome. The update included a single security fix that was reported by Apple's Security Engineering and Architecture (SEAR) team. The issue, CVE-2023-4863, was a heap buffer overflow in the WebP image library, and it had a familiar warning attached:
"Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2023-4863 exists in the wild."
This means that someone, somewhere, had been caught using an exploit for this vulnerability. But who discovered the vulnerability and how was it being used? How does the vulnerability work? Why wasn't it discovered earlier? And what sort of impact does an exploit like this have?
...
Google's OSS-Fuzz project has fuzzed hundreds of open source libraries for many years now, including libwebp and many other image decoding libraries. It's possible to look in full detail at the code coverage for OSS-Fuzz projects, and it's clear that lossless support for WebP was being fuzzed extensively:
The problem, we now know, is that this format is incredibly complex and fragile, and the preconditions to trigger this issue are immense. Out of billions of possibilities, we have to construct a sequence of 4 valid Huffman tables that are maximally sized for two different alphabet sizes (280 and 256) before constructing a very specific type of invalid Huffman table for a third alphabet size (40). If a single bit is wrong at any stage, the image decoder throws an error and nothing bad happens.
What a coincidence.
The bad news is that exploits like this continue to have societal ramifications, and we can only guess how bad the situation really is. The truth is that nobody knows for sure, even the people with exploits.
The bad news is that Android is still likely affected. Similar to Apple's ImageIO, Android has a facility called the BitmapFactory that handles image decoding, and of course libwebp is supported. As of today, Android hasn't released a security bulletin that includes a fix for CVE-2023-4863 - although the fix has been merged into AOSP. To put this in context: if this bug does affect Android, then it could potentially be turned into a remote exploit for apps like Signal and WhatsApp. I'd expect it to be fixed in the October bulletin.
The bad news is that libwebp is used in a lot of places, and it could be a while until the patch reaches saturation. Also, the code is still very difficult to reason about, and we can't rely on fuzzers to find any other bugs that are lurking here.
Anons should disable webp support if possible.
Android phones are fucked, especially the ones without updates, which is 99% of them.
Any image can trigger this. Even an image sent via e-mail.

Critical vulnerability in webp-image code, known for a few weeks now.
You understand what a webp image is?
It's a shitty Google image format, which is supported by basically all browsers, because it saves these assholes a bit of bandwidth, but costs you a bit more CPU power to decompress. And has exploits built into it.
Build a webp exploit image.Upload anywhere or send via e-mail and hack tons of computers and other devices.
Android phones that do not get patches anymore, but are still used, are fucked.
That may be the start of the digital corona pandemic.
